Hope’s fiancé is dead, and the only way she can repair her heart is to become a Pinkerton agent and marry her trainer – in name only, of course. But after working so closely with a man for several months as husband and wife, can she continue to guard her heart from someone who is completely different from her dead fiancé? But then… different can be good, too.
Hope lost her fiancee and doesn't want to fall in love again. She wants to annul her marriage to her partner, after she gets a new case on her own. But then Jesse shows up expecting to work the new case together. Jesse can't understand why his wife wants to argue all the time. And shouldn't she have remembered more of what he's already taught her? But he's happy to spend more time together. Can he convince her try to get along? And maybe stay married? What's going on with the train robbers? This is a clean, sweet romance. I don't always like books by this author but this one was FANTASTIC! I loved how she jumped right into the story (since by book #72 we all know how training new female agents goes). It really helped keep my attention. And I liked Jesse's character. Definitely don't miss this book!
Hope liked working alone as a Pinkerton. Heck she could make her own decisions and she'd been on her own since her mother died a couple of years ago. As she was hiding, spying on the cabin in hopes to see the train robber, none other than Jesse Slade showed up and saved her from being discovered. He had been her partner for six months and then she had asked for an annulment since she'd had to marry him to be trained. But Jesse had no intention of giving feisty Hope an annulment. "Not now." "Not ever." Such a great story and addition to the Pinkerton's! Marie Higgins always tells a story that I love and this is no exception! I highly recommend and you will not be able to put it down until the end!
Hope is a stubborn independent woman. Luckily Jesse is perhaps just as stubborn. This was a fun suspenseful romance. There were times I felt I was almost reading a good old western movie script. It was fun and suspenseful with some fun twists.
Jesse and Hope have a very feisty relationship, but can anger and frustration become passion? And can passion become love? There are many lessons learnt here...you should never judge someone by their appearance and two people working together are definitely better than one. But Hope is very hesitant and resistant to put her heart in the line again, will she ever trust and love Jesse? I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
The old cliches are thick as thieves in this one. It was way too corny. It was a fast read but so extremely predictable that it really didn't need to be read in its entirety. I did keep reading by that's just me. Its a compulsion to complete almost every book I start unless it becomes dirty sexual trash.
Wonderful addition to the Pinkerton Matchmaker series with a different twist. This book has plenty of adventure, suspense, romance, and breathtaking, edge of your seat excitement. The scenes at the sawmill and the train tracks made my heart race. Excellent read!
Hope is quite the independent woman who thinks she can catch the bad guys without her agent husband. She has high aspirations but doesn't follow the rules. This is a fun story in the series.
One more fantastic story from Marie Higgins! She never disappoints! Hope and Jesse are quite a pair. She feels she is good enough to solve cases on her own without the aid of Jesse. However, Jesse always has her back. It takes a while for Hope to realize that two are better than one! A page turning read you are sure to enjoy! I received an advance copy of this book and I voluntarily wrote an honest review.
Marie Higgins never disappoints in her story lines or characters. I know when I pick up one of her books that I’ll have a plot that keeps me reading, perhaps longer than I intended, and characters that are realistic and relatable. Her female characters are stong, not the stand to the side and wring hands when things are going wrong. She definitely brought us all of those characteristic in Hope, luckily she gave us a patient hero in Jesse. A very enjoyable book.
After the lost of her fiancee Hope wants to do some good so she joins the Pinkerton Agency where she is partner with Jesse. They are both very different people where she jumps in feet first and he thinks things through and is always helping her when things do not go as expected. Maybe these two opposites are meant for each other.
Marie out a different spin on the normal new female agent marrying her trainer plot. Hope had married Jesse, but went out on her own after a few months. She feels she doesn't need a man in her life because she still loves her dead fiance. When she takes on a dangerous case she never expected Jesse to be in the area. Sparks fly in more ways than one.
Great story with fun characters. I enjoyed the husband and wife team who clashed and made this story fun. A clean sweet romance that ends up with the characters in danger many times. Will keep you holding your breath and completely entranced. Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
Gone exciting story that keeps you wanting to read more with all the twists and turns abound with unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises and misunderstandings along with a little deceit and kidnapping.
