Welcome to Forest River, New York, where perfection is a requirement. The Lululemon-clad moms are perfectly toned, expertly highlighted, and magnificently manicured. The women spend their days practicing Pilates, shopping for shoes, and doing everything in their power to ensure their children never experience a difficult day.

PTA president, Jackie Martin, is the envy off the mothers. She has a loyal and handsome husband, she host's elaborate parties, and her eldest daughter, Hayley, is the most popular child in the fifth grade. Her life appears flawless, but is life ever what it seems to be?

After receiving a painful blow, when Hayley was in kindergarten, Jackie clawed her way into PTA power. She lived her life by the adage, "Proper planning prevents poor performance." Her attention to detail (okay fine – her control freak nature) served her well until she experiences the ultimate betrayal.

Angry and hurt, old emotional wounds are ripped open as Jackie realizes she doesn't know who she can trust. Jackie must reevaluate her life, her friendships, and the choices she has made. Will she finally let her guard down and show the world the real Jackie Martin?

A hilarious and heartwarming novel that’s perfect for fans of Class Mom! Mom Boss is the standalone prequel to Go On, Girl and Mom Genes.

I have read the first two books in this series but this prequel?  Wow!  It gives so much insight into Jackie and why things the way they are in the PTA.  So my advice from the get-go is if you have not read any of this series then definitely start with this book, the others will flow from the setup of Mom Boss.

I have never been involved with the PTA, but I have been involved in many organizations in my time but I don't think I have ever seen the cattiness that is displayed in this book (and the other two). This book goes back about 5 years when Jackie's daughter was in kindergarten and she just wanted to help make her daughter's experience a good one. However, the current PTA President, Pamela, is a control freak and doesn't accept Jackie's offer to assist in whatever capacity she is needed. That doesn't stop Jackie from going around her and gathering the support of other moms and doing their own thing. I have to admire her pluckiness in taking on someone that is obsessed with the power they think they have as President of the PTA.  This book is no different from the first two and it includes emails between various parties and I had to laugh when Pamela would reply all and blast Jackie and then try to recall the message.

Near the end of the book, the story jumps to the "present" time of the other two books when Jackie's daughter and others are entering the fifth grade. If you have read the first two books, you will recognize some of the events that unfold. There is so much more and I cannot wait until the fourth book comes out that tells Donna's story.  Donna and Jackie were as thick as thieves in this book but something happened and she turns against Jackie. There is more to the story than what we are shown in this book.

I know I don't think I was a huge fan of Jackie in the other two books, but knowing her story caused me to rethink my previous assessment of her. She is a very organized woman and knows what she wants and how to achieve the results, but at the same time brings others into the circle to assist the success of the event.  She is very smart too and that is obvious when she addresses the school board regarding PTA funds (before she was president) and where they would, or should, be spent.

We give this book 5 paws up and highly recommend this series.

The ladies of the Forest River PTA are back in book 3, Mom Boss. If you have followed the ladies of Forest River and are like me and had a love-hate for Jackie Martins antics, this book proves you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover! This book has been my favorite read so far. Hilary has once again knocked it out of the park in capturing the beauty of friendship, family values and a woman’s journey of personal growth. It wouldn’t be a story in Forest River without lots of drama, feel good tears and laughter that share the tales of how the well do to ladies of Forest River manage their day to day existence in between chauffeur duties, workouts, shopping, manicures, etc.

Jackie is a determined mom who wants to make sure her daughter’s popularity at school is top notch. She quickly learns that she will have to win the heart of the PTA president, Pamela, who is less than impressed with Jackie’s eagerness to help out.

With the help and encouraging advice provided by her mother in-law Joan and the other ladies she befriends along they way, Jackie decides to take a different approach altogether and is determined to win over the entire schools parent and student population to make sure he daughter excels in more than just academics.

Her journey takes us through the here and now, past and present and a roller coaster ride of the various frustrations, petty drama, new friendships, heartbreak, betrayal and learning to let go.

I was blessed to receive an ARC of Mom Boss from the author to read and provide a review and am so glad I did. This book has been my favorite in the series thus far! I have loved every one of Hilary’s books! If you haven’t read this series yet, you won’t be disappointed.

Mom Boss is a great prequel to this series by Hilary Grossman. Jackie Martin's dealings with the Forest River Elementary School, the PTA, and her childrens' friend's mothers are detailed through THEN and NOW chapters. This is such a great way to read this book because you get parts of the past and then the present.

Forest River's elementary school is filled with "those moms" ~ you probably know the ones I mean. The ones who never go anywhere without looking like a million bucks, that have their personal trainers on speed dial, and nannies who take care of everything the kids need.

Not only does Mom Boss give us a peek into what for most of us is a totally different lifestyle, but gives us the fun of being a fly on the wall while these moms deal with the school, the country club, their friends, and life in general. Hilary Grossman makes the reader care about these characters and especially about their children. I found myself wanting the best for the children and hoping they overcame their struggles.

I've read all books in this series and am so happy I got to read an ARC of Mom Boss. It was a fun read that is escapism at its best, with a bit of a life lesson woven throughout about being careful what we wish for. I definitely recommend this series, and this book, to anyone looking for an enjoyable escape or simply a good read.

I was fortunate enough to read an ARC and my thoughts in this review are my own. I'm a fan of this author and you will be too, once you give one of these books a chance.

Forest River, New York, is a town filled with impressive homes and affluent families who seem more than perfect. But taking a look below the surface, Forest River is filled with lots of secrets and scandals.

When Jackie Martin decides she wants to be part of the popular Forest River Elementary School moms and join the PTA, she quickly learns it is going to be a lot of work. Jackie is up to it, and with the help of her mother-in-law, Joan, she does just that. And Jackie ruffles a lot of feathers along the way.

This is the third book in a series. I enjoyed the other two books so much that I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one. It was better than I could have imagined. I think this might be my favorite of the Forest River Mom books. I would say these books are a combination of The Real Housewives and Big Little Lies. I felt completely swept away to a world that is far from the one I live in. Lots of glitz, glamour, drama and excitement. And let’s not forget, the cute little kids.

Calling all mamas! And anyone who is a fan of PTA dramas like Class Mom.

Thank you Hilary for a copy of your novel, Mom Boss. It was a pleasure reading another one of your novels.

Mom Boss is the third book in a series of “drama with the mamas” novels. This one follows Jackie Martin, the ultimate PTA president and how she practices perfection while learning how to deal with some life disappointments.

Grossman creates such a fun yet meaningful environment in this series (which can be read as a stand-alone or paired with Go On, Girl and Mom Genes). The moms are deliciously unlikable in their Lululemon leggings and perfect hairdos. Jackie grows so much in this novel which makes for such a great reading experience because readers can grow along with her. The “then” and “now” aspects of this particular novel really enhance the storyline and character development.

Anyone looking for a fun series to dive into, check this one out today!

I have read all of Hilary Grossman's books and I can honestly say she gets better and better with each one. The Forest River PTA series is a HILARIOUS look into the lives of an elementary school PTA in an upper middle class neighborhood and Mom Boss is my favorite of the three. I love that the books aren't consecutive and so you can read a book from one character's POV and then in the next book learn what another character was REALLY going through at the time. This series is a testament to the idea that you never really know what is going on behind the scenes in someone's life.

To say I am excited to read Donna's story in Book 4 is a gross understatement.

Thank you to the author for my complimentary ARC. All opinions are my own.

Having read the first two books in this series, Go On, Girl and Mom Genes, it was refreshing to be able to see the world of the PTA through Jackie’s eyes. We learn about her from the other two books, yet she isn’t the primary focus, and because the other books are from other characters’ perspectives, it’s only their own views and opinions of her that matter. This time, the story goes back five years to where it all began for Jackie, and it really added to the depth of who she is and more importantly, why she is the way she is.

While the perception of Jackie has always been a bit less than favorable, I discovered there was vulnerability to her, and really, at times it was obvious that she did not feel as secure as she makes herself out to be. This is evident in the way she is driven to seek out her mother-in-law’s approval, and reading about their dynamic really showed not so much the missing pieces of a puzzle, but an explanation into Jackie. She wants to be respected and ultimately, loved. It propels her into making attempts to join the current PTA at her daughter’s new school, and from there chaos ensues.

Sure, there are moments that feel overboard, as when Jackie plans elaborate school functions in order to get the other mothers on her side. Yet, knowing Jackie fully, it’s not over the top for her! Even if you feel annoyed by her constant need to be the best and do the best, you can’t help but appreciate her, because you want to see her succeed. Deep within her, Jackie truly believes she is doing everything for her daughter and at times, for her mother-in-law, and it’s hard to find any fault in that.

When the story leaves the past and catches up to the present, I felt like it really tied in the other two books in this series. While Mom Boss can be read as a standalone, I think the other two books completed the picture and helped to further define Jackie’s true motivations, and the characters we’ve come to respect and know are ones we begin to question, feeling just as jilted as Jackie does. We know them, but do we really? It’s that kind of ambiguity that brought everything full circle, and made Mom Boss an incredible five-star experience!

I received a copy of this book, all opinions are my own.

I fell in love with this group of women, their family and school community. This novel made me laugh out loud, want to reach out and give them a hug and even brought tears to my eyes.

I loved learning more about Jackie, whom I never really felt a strong connection to in the other books. She can be a bit over bearing and is quite the go getter but this book gave us the background knowledge of why and how she became this way. I think all parents would do anything they can to ensure their child’s happiness, and Jackie is no different. She can be a bit much at times but when you listen to her history, my heart was a bit sore for her. She wants her child to have what she never did – how can anyone fault her for this? And she does this so that others benefit too, I wish I was a student in that school!

What I loved the most is that Mom Boss made me laugh – it has some great themes of friendships, parenting and real life moments but it is done in a way that so many of us can relate to. Having spent time on the PTA and volunteered on soccer teams in the management role, I can say that so many times I have seen so many of these type of personalities, the back stabbing, the gossip and it gave me a good chuckle.

Mom Boss is an excellent, laugh out loud read that you will not want to put down. You fall in love with the characters, their story and their lives, and you just want to know more about their lives. Mom Boss is an amazing addition in this great series!

I’ve read the other books in the Forest River PTA series and I always enjoy the writing of Hilary Grossman. I don’t have children but anyone can appreciate the humor that comes from the drama of being a parent at a school like this one. The women that make you feel like you’re still in high school with all of the cliques and theatrics to be the most popular person in the room never gets old.

- Themes & elements: health, competition, education, friendship, happiness, entitlement, selfishness, back-stabbing, drama
- Overall enjoyable and entertaining and filled with lots of drama. There was a big event towards the end but it didn’t fully tie together for me. I didn’t understand why the supporting character would do what she did.
-Overall it was a fun book and made me laugh at all the pettiness of it all.

In a Nutshell: Overall, Mom Boss was an entertaining novel about the drama and back-stabbing that makes the Forest River PTA moms seem like a group of girls that never graduated from high school. Good for a laugh!

Forest River, NY - or it can be anywhere - where moms stay at home to take care of their children, have live-in nannys and get involved in their local PTA. This book brought me back to my days when my children were young - except for the live-in nanny, I was a stay at home mom taking my kids back and forth to school.

And then we get involved in the school PTA. That brought back memories also. Where the new moms, this case Jackie Martin were not welcome in what had become a clique. So Jackie did what any other concerned parent would do - she took it upon herself to help the school outside of the PTA. This didnt sit well with the President and so the fight is on. Loved this story, first time reading this author and of course she has other books surrounding the lives of all the PTA moms and their lives.

Great light read and enjoyable. #KindleUnlimited #fourstars

FUN! FUN! FUN! Mom Boss by Hilary Grossman was just that. I was totally entertained. This book is the third in the series. The first was Go On, Girl followed by Mom Genes and now Mom Boss. Mom Rules is slated to be released August 13, 2020. If your looking for something to take you out of your world, pick up these books and pre- order Mom Rules. You won't be disappointed.

I learned what can possibly happen at the PTA. Since I didn't have children, I was never a member. I already know some women can be hard to work with and just plain disagreeable. These women are over the top. Maybe not!! This book explores women's relationships in an enjoyable way. The good, the bad and the ugly.

I received a copy of this book from the author for a fair and honest review. Thank you!

The prequel I needed! In the first two books I found myself with more questions than answers about Jackie, the Queen of the PTA - I could tell there was more to her story and Mom Boss answers any question and I had and more! I really enjoyed seeing her more vulnerable side and finding out what makes her tick.

Okay

I was drawn by the front cover and title of this book. I initially thought the story was a bit far fetched - although I live in England and believe this novel is set in the US where schools and parents may well be like this, so I could accept it.

I thought Pam's character was really weak and needed more depth and honing. I thought it was unrealistic that Jackie and her best friend would do so much for Melissa's mum, who did nothing. After Melissa's mum not even wanting to check the Facebook page, to believe she'd then concoct and carry out the actions she does at the end is really far fetched. And the twist at the end lacked any explanation or closure, so I found that really disappointing.

I also found the end week; it was more of an attempt to sell the next book than providing a proper ending to the story. There is a sprinkle of grammatical errors and incorrect words in the book too.

I think a lot more character development is needed from Grossman to turn her into a great writer.

Set in the same suburb of New York and in the same elementary school with the same PTA moms, this is book three in a series that I highly suggest starting at book one before moving forward.

This book is different from the first two as it goes back in time to when these women first meet as moms of kindergartners. This book gives the reader the back ground information that I believe would have been helpful when reading the previous books. Going back in time and learning how these personalities all came together was so enlightening and would have given so much color to the previous books, but I was thankful to have one more book after this one to read with this knowledge.

Empty

Vapid literature. The storyline made little sense. It was about rich entitled women who had nothing to do but create drama. Don’t waste your time.

Not bad. I was entertained, even though some of the writing was insipid. The PTA in this book is nothing like the PTA experience I had at Zoe's school. We had to beg people to join. This book is part of a series and I'm curious enough about the other characters to read the other books. So that's saying something.
