Castelia City has been frozen over by Kyurem and is now locked in ice. White is still searching for the whereabouts of Black, who has been missing since the battle against Ghetsis. And Fennel has come up with a theory that the Light Stone is actually connected to the Pokémon Dream World. Will Black, White, Blake and Whitley be able to team up in time to stop Ghetsis, Colress and Kyurem at the Giant Chasm?

This one was wonderful. We got to see Black, White, Blake and Whitley all together.
Black's interactions with everyone was hilarious this book. He knows nothing.
I love Iris, she is so sweet, with her grandpas, she's saving the world.
Blake still feels weird to me, he's okay, but I don't like him all that much.
Whitley meeting White was perfect for her, they suit each others personalities so well.

I like this but I'd be lost if I hadn't read Pokemon Adventures: Black and White first. There are many characters and they drop in unannounced from the earlier series. There is one more volume, and it's smaller than the first three. It appears that this series will have a clear end, but I'll wait and see.

The pacing is good. The story is a bit different from how these things were portrayed in the games, but in a way that isn't entirely bad.

I think it was really interesting to meet Alder's grandson, Benga, who was suspended from school. Ha! He talks about how you have to fight anytime you lock eyes with another trainer, and that was really fun tidbit from the games, and also how he got suspended in the first place.

Marlon also joins us, and he is still rocking that tan line. Oh, he's also a gym leader now. You know, now that I'm thinking about it, there's not a collector quest happening in this series, unless you count arresting all 7 sages, I guess.

Blake gets fired as an inspector, and it's honestly the first interesting thing to happen with this character. We are then told a bit about Blake's childhood and how he was raised by the international police to be basically a sociopath. That makes all his flirting like 50,000 times more creepy because he was intentionally using learned tactics that were unnatural for him. Anyway, what decisions will he make now that he's released from his duties? Hmmm.

We see Prof. Fennel for a split second, just so she can explain the dream dimension and that Black is there. This feels like a wasted opportunity. She's been working for two years just to provide a bit of exposition. What happened to all her mildly villainous dreams? Prof. Burnet from Alola is mentioned, so maybe we'll see a bit more from her in Sun and Moon.

The scene with White finding the light stone and N not too far behind was so gut wrenching. White just wants to understand why Black was taken and N wasn't but he doesn't have any idea either. They track down Team Plasma's frigate and get into a confrontation with Kyurem, where Zekrom gets freaking absorbed and N and White are sucked unto the dark stone. All that to say, I was so, so glad to see Black again in the world of dreams, and White was too based on that hug. Oh, it was so freaking sweet! My heart!

Keldeo finally gets to free his mentors. That was a really satisfying scene, and Whitley is really able to connect with the pokemon in the cave initiating some character growth for her.

All the kids finally get to meet each other, and I just love seeing new people's reaction Black's dreams being eaten by Musha. That is classic stuff right there.

Then, we have a flurry of our old friends joining the fray (most notably to me were Iris and Alder) and most everyone is headed out to the giant chasm, to face off with the Kyurem/Zekrom hybrid beast.

Hugh was way out of his comfort zone and working with Rood to get the Team Plasma data that can stop the Colress machine and free the mind controlled pokemon. They also show up to the giant chasm and are successful in shutting down the Colress machine, and Colress thinks he's going to make a break for it, leave Team Plasma, and the whole thing. He's just the perfect villain. That's so hilarious to me.

Oh, did you think shutting down the Colress machine would solve their problems. Oh, no. There's another volume to go. Now Kyurem can't decide who he wants to absorb, and all heck is breaking loose. Fun times.

This became kind of a summary again. I think I can't help myself. This is how I do things now.

The story progressed a lot and I could not put down this volume there is so much adventure and you get to see characters from black and white and this volume is filled with content. I cannot wait to read the next volume.
