Enjoyed this much more than the first volume with Ruby and Sapphire in it. We get to know them more as characters and their strengths and who they are as Pokémon trainers. We learn more about team Magma and team Aqua and their goal to awaken legendary Pokémon to do their evil bidding. The gym leaders of the region must come together and decide how to handle them and the sudden changes in the environment that they have been causing to awaken Groudon and Kyogre.
So far Ruby and Sapphire might be my favorites. Ruby is so simultaneously likable and unlikable. He feels well rounded and I adore his arc and also how wild and strong Sapphire is. It never gets either of them down that people think Ruby’s weird and Sapphire might be a dumb country bumpkin. They’re both just doing their things and paying no mind what others believe.
One of my favorite arcs in the whole Pokemon Special franchise begins! The protagonists are radically different from everyone we've had before and their clashing beliefs in, well, everything really make for a dynamic adventure. Not to mention, in the games, you could only fight against one evil eco-terrorist organization, but here, they have to tackle both of em. Just good times with two gems!
This volume continues with Ruby and Sapphire’s journey. Sapphire’s battling gym leaders and earning badges. It takes awhile but Ruby does eventually catch up with medals from contests. In between all of that, we have drama with two different groups.. Team Aqua and Team Magma. One wants more water and wants more land. Can you guess who’s who? Lol Anyway, there’s also the drama with Ruby and his dad which gets cleared up in this volume. Not everything is what it seems! My favorite parts of this volume had to be when Ruby and Sapphire are together. They are quite the opposites and their banter is funny. Especially, when Sapphire almost threw Ruby overboard for being annoying lol… And I can’t forget, Ruby helping that guy in the speedo fish for a Feebas was fun to watch… Oh and Sapphire just carrying people on her back is just great.
Pokémon Adventures Volume 6 has a lot of neat world-building, as well a lot of foreshadowing regarding the climax of this region. As a fan of the region in the video games, I enjoyed this take on a beloved region. I can’t wait to spend more time with Ruby and Sapphire as they strive towards their goals.
A fun continuation of Ruby and Sapphire's adventures. While I enjoyed the previous arc more, this one is still enjoyable to read, and I've been liking seeing Ruby's fresh goal of trying to win contests instead of gym battles. I do kinda wish they went a bit more in-depth into Ruby's contest wins; they kinda just skim over the ones he's competed in so far, but overall, a fun read (with more creative battles as per usual).
I really enjoyed how the characters of Ruby and Sapphire were developed in this book. I had only played the video games set in the Hoenn region, so this side of their characters was unknown to me. I got so many happy and nostalgic flashbacks of playing through the original games of Ruby and Sapphire while reading this book, and I am looking forward to starting the next volume!
Volume 6 of the Pokémon adventures manga continues the adventures of Ruby and Sapphire through the Hoenn region. The threat of team Aqua and team Magma is growing with every page. The stunning visuals shining a new light on how both pokémon battles and contests can be done make this a worthwile read and a great continuation of the Ruby/Sapphire arc.
I had read Red/Blue & Gold/Silver when I was younger, and when I started Ruby/Sapphire I really couldn’t see how they would craft a story without it being a rehash of the previous three arcs. My expectations were exceeded by a mile. The climax to the conflict between Ruby and Norman….. chef’s kiss
an excellent manga to read while just hanging out with your partner while you both do two different things together. read this in one sitting while he took a bath
Another example story in the books. In this volume, the story continues to focus on the journey's of Ruby and Sapphire as they compete in contests and gym battles in order to beat their 90 day deadline. Ruby competes in his first contests and sweeping them clean. Sapphire, on the other hand, continues her quest to defeat the eight gym leaders in Hoenn. In the mean time, both Ruby and Sapphire have crossed paths with Team Aqua and Team Magma respectively. As both teams try to beat each other to their respective goals, Ruby and Sapphire get crossed in the crosshairs and learn about their plans. In the end, Sapphire and Ruby come together unexpectedly by the gym leaders of Hoenn to fight for Hoenn's survival.
