Not so much a book to read but to use as reference and guide. It's organized by countries. All motifs have easy to follow numbered grids. I use it for designing knitted hats and sweaters.
BOTTOM LINE: Wow! Stupendous compendium of charted patterns for knitters, spiral bound.
This amazing little spiral-bound book is a true treasure. Filled with gazillions (or so it seems!) of beautiful designs shown only in charted form, the charts are fairly large and easy to read. Pretty much has every sort of charted design you might want to include in a sweater or knitted block, including Fair Isle, Scandanavian, Celtic, South American, American Indian, Asian, Tibetan, etc. Also has a lovely batch of initials and some wonderful pictorial designs as well, and a few just for babies/kids. Wonderful! Hope there are others in a series, for although I couldn't find publication info, the format is so good I suspect the publishers have produced others that are similar. Gawd... there goes the budget...!
Great patterns! I used this when making stocking caps. It has all the traditional designs as well as modern ones like rabbits, ladybugs, holidays designs and more! I'll be checking this out again from the library.
