Akira Toriyama (鳥山明) was a Japanese manga artist and character designer. He first achieved mainstream recognition for creating the popular manga series Dr. Slump, before going on to create Dragon Ball (his most famous work) and acting as a character designer for several popular video games such as the Dragon Quest series, Chrono Trigger, and Blue Dragon. Toriyama came to be regarded as one of the most important authors in the history of manga with his works highly influential and popular, particularly Dragon Ball, which many manga artists cite as a source of inspiration. He earned the 1981 Shogakukan Manga Award for best shōnen/shōjo manga with Dr. Slump, and it went on to sell over 35 million copies in Japan. It was adapted into a successful anime series, with a second anime created in 1997, 13 years after the manga ended. His next series, Dragon Ball, would become one of the most popular and successful manga in the world. Having sold 260 million copies worldwide, it is one of the best-selling manga series of all time and is considered a key work in increasing manga circulation to its peak in the mid-1980s and mid-1990s. Overseas, Dragon Ball's anime adaptations have been more successful than the manga and are credited with boosting anime's popularity in the Western world. In 2019, Toriyama was decorated a Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres for his contributions to the arts. In October 2024, Toriyama was inducted into the Harvey Awards Hall of Fame.
Great action packed issue with great artwork of the fighting. The action is not much new when it comes to Dargon Ball. It is mostly the usual get beaten reach a new power level, fight gain the upper hand then repeat. Whether us fans admit or not we love it or at least keep coming back for more.
The slight twist that has happened a couple of times in the comics especially is the might add in a new technique as well as a power up. As a martial artist and martial arts fan I really appreciate this.
Another thing I really like in this comic is the highlight how much certain characters have grown as a person where as other have not.
A great action packed issue, but the sacrifice in thus story was very well done. They could have finished thus arc here I think bug that would not be the Dragon Ball way. As much as I enjoyed this book I do hope the end comes in the next book as I don't think tjis story can be stretched much more.
EN Our heroes continue their battle against Moro, who has proven to be a formidable opponent thanks to the energy of the countless planets he has absorbed.
Meanwhile, Vegeta — who also trained hard for this confrontation — finally arrives and, to everyone's surprise, unveils a completely new technique.
But Son Goku still hasn’t had his final say.
--
Toriyama really must’ve sat down with this volume and said first I’m going to shatter their hearts, then I’ll give them an epic shattering battle to raise their spirits. Which yes I loved but without spoiling who, I genuinely shed a tear for one of the franchises greatest losses and send offs in years. Although getting that special treat that is experiencing perfect ultra instinct was just jaw dropping. I have so little patience in wanting to continue this epic momentum and carry it into the next volume. 4.5/5
It's now time for Goku to show Moro what he has learned so far despite his training not completely done. While his battle seems promising, he will require help if he's to survive this battle. Luckily for us, there's another legendary fighter out there to come to lend a hand. Once again, it is entertaining for what it is but there's something about Moro's character and these battles that are far less exciting than what Jiren or Freeza gave us earlier in this series.
Hmm... this one is tough to rate. On one hand, we finally get Ultra Instinct and it looks great. We have Vegeta's shining moment, we have Meerus's sacrifice (though I have a teeny tiny suspicion it's not permanent), and finally we've got Goku at his best. I've been waiting for this scene since the fight with Jiren, and it's been a long and painful wait filled with mediocre volumes, so allow me some satisfaction :).
But.
The art sucks. It's not Toriyama, and it shows. In every panel. Moro's sudden transformation into a Cell's long-lost cousin doesn't help either, and as once again all other characters are relegated to faraway background, the emotional aspects of this manga, which were so important in DB and DBZ, suffer a great deal indeed.
Moro goes full in. First up is a epic fight between Vegeta and Moro. Then Moro gets a unexpected upgrade that leaves everyone in danger. A new hero steps up but is it too late?
Fantastic fights, tons of hand to hand, and some epic moves. Some weak transformation designs aside this was great. A 4.4 out of 5.
You came so close. SO close. Curse you for making me hope once again, "It's looking promising... VERY promising this time actually..... Could he FINALLY let Vegeta be the necessary savior instead of Goku, just freaking ONE TIME?!!?" But no. Of. Course. Not. Siiiigh... If Vegeta ever DOES manage to be the one to swoop in and ultimately save the day, Toriyama/Toyotaro then you will definitely get 5 stars from me. C'mon man, he freaking deserves it :'( Sincerely, One of many forever-frustrated, unhopeful Veggie fans
A fun and quick read, once I accepted that Dragon Ball Super just isn’t the same quality as Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z I started enjoying the series much more. This volume is low on substance but features characters we care about and enough action to make it a worthy read.
Same comments as the last two books, its consistent as hell but it is a problem. Also Vegeta fans getting cucked every other arc. Give my man his dicking hour! (Yes I know about the Granolah arc, and we are all hoping it goes how it ought to go with Vegeta!)😁
As a few other reviewers said, you would think that Vegeta could have a win just once. But not this time. Goku is here again with another new transformation to save the day. Also pointed out by another reviewer, this is almost a Cell 2.0. The only difference is some Magic, which means it just combines a little bit of Buu arc with Cell arc. Nothing too revolutionary in this volume. I don’t really feel out of the loop picking up this volume in the middle of an arc because it is pretty standard, formulaic Dragonball.
This is easily the weakest volume of Dragon Ball Super. We have power creep after power creep, some cool moments that get quickly derailed, and uninteresting fights. There's one great moment here, but it's quickly gone.
This saga is just dragging out now. I just hope it ends soon.
Non-stop action from the very first panel to the suspenseful ending. This volume was pure fighting with plenty of twists and turns. While I was expecting Merus to disappear I did not expect it to happen in the way it did. A fantastic book from beginning to end.

Goku recognized Vegeta's move which is forced spirit fission. The technique tears apart things that were combined through fusion or absorption. Every Vegeta's attack that hit Moro, released back the energy that he absorbed before. The energy return back to its place. For the races that have potent life force, they will come back to life such as the Namekians. Moro trying to escape to his ship. He killed Shimorekka and consumed Seven-Three. He evolved to his greater form. Moro can copy abilities from anyone and it will stay forever. Vegeta, Goku, Piccolo, Gohan, Android #17 and Android #18 were all defeated. Dende come down to Earth to help heal all of them but Moro make a barrier around the battlefield. Whis appears to help Dende enter the barier. Merus also there to fight Moro.
As an angel, Merus must stay neutral. But during his time in Galactic Patrol and after meeting Goku, he realized something which is justice and the universe worth to be protected. Merus starts fighting Moro and he using his angel power to seal Moro's magic. Slowly, he starts to vanish. Goku feels rage but he slowly turn to calm. He unlocks the perfect Ultra Instinct. He beats Moro to pulp.
The fight against Moro continues! With his henchmen out of the way, Moro himself has joined the fight. He unexpectedly is challenged by Vegeta, who has gained a drastic increase in power, as well as learned a technique called "Forced Spirit Fission", which takes away fusions and energy drains that a fighter has stolen from others. Moro is very weakened, but absorbing his last two henchmen (including Seven-Three which has given him the copy powers technique) raises the stakes back up and he defeats Vegeta, Goku, and the rest of the Z Fighters easily. Then Merus steps in.... Angels are not permitted to take sides, but being a part of the Galactic Patrol and training with Goku has taught him the concept of Justice, and so he fights Moro alone, taking him down several notches, but ultimately fading away permanently, the cost for fighting on the side of right. This sacrifice pushes Goku over the line, and he achieves Ultra Instinct Perfected, turning the tide quickly. Moro is almost defeated.... but Goku refuses to kill...
After all this time, I still love the DragonBall stuff. Keep it coming! Recommend.
9/10 vegeta puts up a good fight against Morro and starts to give Earth a bit of hope, until Moro pulls out a hidden trick. He eats the copy cat Android that was working for him and fuses with himself after vegeta drained him of all his stolen energy. The copy cat androids body contained a back up of Moro when he was at his strongest and all the previous powers he absorbed so he became even stronger than Moro was before. He quickly put vegeta down, then Merus came to save the day. Whis purposely let Merus go back because he loves Earth food and would let Merus sacrifice his life for it. Merus uses his Angel powers on fused Moro and beats him up but it still isn’t enough. Due to Merus being biased and not following the code of angels, he vanishes and is no longer living. He tells goku before he dies that he will unlock true yea instinct he just needs one more push. This push was merus’s death. He transforms and becomes perfect ultra instinct and ends Moro. Moro can’t touch goku and goku pummels Moro and quits the galactic patrol because he wants to take care of Moro earth style.

With Vegeta back, he’s ready to take on Moro and save the day … And it actually seems he will be the saviour of Earth. With his new technique “Forced Spirit Fission”, he has a great advantage over Moro. With this technique he takes the lead in the fight against Moro, with Moro getting weaker and weaker with every punch that lands. But unfortunately Moro still has an ace upon his sleeve. With it the tables have turned once again and the DB fighters are again in huge trouble.
Conclusion: There’s so much more happening here. The return of Vegeta and him doing battle with Moro is only the start. We further have the return of Merus and him making a huge sacrifice. Goku is also going further then ever before … The Moro arc is only getting better and better. And this volume once again ends on a high note with what seems to be a key decision from Goku. I already have an idea where this is leading to.
And the art work is just great, especially during the fights !!! Rating: 4/5
The best volume of Dragon Ball Super, if only because Toyotaro is finally brave enough to use splash pages. This is the best the action in DBS has ever been, both on a choreography and artistic level. Merus' erasure was surprisingly emotional and Goku & Vegeta's battles with Moro are fantastic. Love Vegeta's Spirit Fission and Goku's mastery of Ultra Instinct. This arc is still VERY derivative and very much plays out as "DBZ's Greatest Hits" – in that sense, it's more reminiscent of the Toei movies than an actual Dragon Ball arc – but it's also extremely entertaining, fleshing out the universe in a fun way, and using its core characters (Goku, Vegeta, Merus) really well. At this point, I'm rating these volumes more so on DBS standards as opposed to classic Dragon Ball, but Toyotaro's doing genuinely great work. This arc flows well on a binge.
A suivre...
This one was freaking insane and I loved every moment of it, you see the return of Vegeta and him being awesome and then the fight and how he takes Moro down until he merges with 73 and the effect of that and Goku and all no match for him, the last stand of Merus and this made it one of my favorite Dragon ball mangas.. its so freaking cool seeing the last stand of merus and seeing his convictions and why he changed his neutral standing and that last moment motivating Goku who perfects UI finally and then the battle is just insane!! This is the climax of the fight and this is here where things get so interesting and just epic, I love how all the threads are coming together and Moro is becoming such a cool villain!!
