This book has legitimately helped my kid poop, so I have to give it four stars for that alone. Fun rhymes too. I wish it said "all the little kids" instead of "all the little girls and boys" but I just change it when I read it ha.
Without knowing the song this doesn't really have much going for it other than the adorable illustrations. So my husband looked up the song to sing it to the kids and they both screamed and cried during the whole thing begging him stop. I couldn't stop laughing.
Cute and silly song/picture book celebrating poop, though I would definitely change "But the Big Boys and Big Girls" to "But the Big Kids, oh the Big Kids" in my own readings--the gender binary is unnecessary here and everywhere, so let's get more creative and intentional and stop using binary language!

This is my new favorite potty training book to recommend. It highlights the differences between the way animals and humans go potty. Though elephant poop doesn't really weigh a ton (thank goodness) and space Martians may or not poop by faraway stars (a delightful experience I'm sure), this book is so much fun to read and shows kids that using the potty like a big boy/girl is such a rockstar thing to do! It also has a catchy tune (look it up) and is guaranteed to give you at least one laugh (that will last the entire book).
Eric Litwin is one of my all-time favorite authors. He creates such catchy songs which I use all the time in storytime and at home. Unfortunately, The Poop Song really missed the pot and I've already forgotten the beat. Regardless, I will always await his next book with excitement.
hahaha this song will get stuck in your head! Thank you, Mr. Eric, lol. Book includes website info where readers can hear the poop song and download a potty chart, too.
Song is pretty fun! I found the pictures to be a little too busy for littles, so if this is for a younger potty trainer I'd go with Everyone Poops. Like Everyone Poop's camel joke page, this has a space martians page that doesn't match the toddler audience. But the song makes it all worth while.
Elliot doesn’t like pooping on the potty, so I’ve been checking out silly books about pooping. This one has a song (we didn’t listen to it though) and has comical pictures of poop coming out of different animals, followed by a chorus about big girls and boys poop in the potty and they hear a special sound (flush).
Completely joyously silly. What other words can I use about this book by Mr. Eric about the wonder of pooping? It's not very deep or precocious. Sometimes it is fun just to read something incredibly brightly silly.
I can see this book helping kinders who are reluctant users. There is a accompanying song (chroniclebooks.com/thepoopsong) that maybe the whole class can learn so as to divert attention from the little friend who needs some help to be found in rhythm and tunes
What can you say about a poop book? It’s great! It’s a great way to get kids to learn and talk about subjects that are not “demure” and it takes some of the shame away from the subject. Plus scatalogical is always funny! Would recommend
The poop song book seems like the new version of Everybody Poops but this one seems to focus on "big boys and big girls" poop in the potty. It does not seem very inclusive but might work for an individual child not so much a classroom.
This was adorable. My 4 year old enjoyed it very much! Great illustrations and it was nice that it was short and very catchy! I think it would have been better to read to her when she was around 2 years, but she giggled and smiled while I read it to her!
