Donatello should have been my forever but he let his doubts sully what we had, let them cast me to the same shadows we used to find euphoria in. ⠀
He didn't want me. So I left, went to college and attempted to forget the taste of his lips with someone new. ⠀
Now I'm home for the summer and he wants to rekindle what we had, pretend like he didn't leave our love to burn out like a forgotten candle.
If he's expecting me to fall right into his charm though, he has another thing coming. This time around I refuse to be his dirty secret. He will either choose to love me without the shadows or leave me the hell alone.⠀
★This is the second book in the Bloody Business series - reading the first in the series (My Heart) is recommended to better understand the storyline and characters ★⠀
This book contains themes that some may find triggering.

I don’t even know where to begin with this review. If you’ve read book 1, My Heart, then you know that there were hints of something going on between Donatello and Delaney. If you haven’t then you’ll still be fine with reading this one. I have been dying for their story and this did not disappoint. Donatello and Delaney’s story is a beautiful, emotional and a soul stealing forbidden romance that I DEVOURED.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED Remy and Delaney’s relationship. He’s her big brother, her father figure and she values his opinions, even if she may disagree with them at times. Despite not liking her choices, he will always be there for her. He is her rock. Her family. The one person who will always be there for her. In turn, Delaney also has a great relationship with Beverly, too. I loved every single moment those two were together.
Another high note for My Life is the back and forth between past and present. We got glimpses of Donatello and Delaney’s relationship from the start, but also got to see their relationship in the present. There is no denying these two have chemistry, however, I wanted to punch Donatello throughout a good chunk of the story. He was such an idiot and I want to hate him, but I can’t. The man was killing it was the bad jokes ( I have a thing for terrible jokes).
Delaney, this woman. I loved her. I felt her pain, I wanted to jump into my kindle and hug her and give her some ice cream, candy and wine. I felt such a strong connection to her on a personal level. Her feeling of being unwanted and her heartbreak is something I think every woman has experienced at some point in her life. She is so relatable as a character and so mature for her age.
There is a secondary character in this story who I LOVED and I want to know more about him. He is fantastic and definitely has a story to tell. You’ll know who I’m talking about once you read this, because you can’t miss this character. He is a great friend to Delaney, he was there for her when she needed someone, and honestly you can’t help but love him.
My Life is a forbidden romance MUST READ! I can’t wait to see what’s next from A.J.
WOAHHH!!😭😭 TO ALL MY HEA, DARK ROMANCE, AGE GAP, MAFIA BOOKWORMS 🥰
🦋Book Butterflies🦋 A new to me author
To say I was sobbing during this read is an absolute understatement. I was heartbroken, torn to pieces, emotionally distraught... I think you get the point!😂
Donatello is the alpha hero of this story and when he broke Delaney’s heart, he crushed mine right along with it *tear drop* Every thing he does is super SEXY, his mannerisms, the way he carries himself, the cheeky smiles 😍swoon😍 Its no wonder Delaney keeps falling under his spell. As much as I didn’t want her to keep gravitating towards him, Donatello is Delaney’s life and sole, and vice versa. So, I can’t help but love and hate AJ Wolf for this ❤️😭
This story was beautifully written, the back and forth between the present and past was everything. I was completely sucked into the world of Delaney and Donatello, their little displays of affection, they’re heartwarming personal jokes and even their little relationship bickers. It was difficult not to get sucked in because everything about their love story was so real, genuine and heart breaking. I devoured this book sooo soo fast, I literally regretted it as soon as I got to the end. I feel lost now, and you know you’ve read a delightful book when it gives you that feeling - book butterflies🦋
Like the whole book was about this toxic relationship. He breaks her heart and she swears never more and she still falls for it! I don’t see where the romance part was in this book! Sorry but that’s not love. He is controlling, obsessive, and I know a few readers like those alpha males but I don’t see the attractiveness. Not when is used this way. She was easily manipulated and used. She couldn’t controlled her hormones, had no self respect. The only good part about this book was Jessie! That’s why this isn’t a two stars.
“You’re my moon, my stars, my sun. You’re Vita Mia, my life."
His love was toxic. Yes. But I simply couldn't see them apart. I am a mess probably as Delaney is, a weak for his affection and love, for his tender kisses and soft whispering. With back and forth (short and light flashes of their past, first kiss, and inevitable heartbreak) and present, I was completely sucked in their drama. He broke her heart not once but twice - "my knight in shining armor nothing but a beast holding a sword, a sword that he used on me." You would think she was smarter than to fall for the "wolf in sheep's clothing, comforting his lamb" again. But her love was stronger, she wasn't able to deny him (i wouldn't either)....am I a sucker?!
Aga - gap, mafia princess, and alpha bad boy - all wrapped up in a forbidden love story that will shatter your heart and leave you bleeding. I was crying around midnight with why?! on my lips just as Delaney was. And yet when he came back my heart was beating faster...thump, thump, thump just like hers was..... I am a sucker for bad boys and second chances (this time it was a third one - lucky one?!)...
Book 3 will come soon... till then you have time to read this beauty AJ Wolf crated ....
I really love AJ’s writing and always feel connected to characters. They just do it for me, even when they’re pissing me off, I love them.
This is book 2 in the Bloody Business series and features a forbidden love/age-gap romance between Delaney Luciano and Donatello Genovese. Delaney is the (19) baby sister of Remy (Capo della Famiglia) and Donatello (30) is her brother’s best friend and Consigliere.
This one really tore at my heartstrings…a toxic and passionate love affair between two individuals who may or may not be meant for each other. We see them at their best and at their worse. The “Back to Euphoria” chapters were my favorite, and I really loved seeing the softer, playful side of Donatello.
When things got rough though...well, I wanted to rage at both main characters! Donatello for toying with Delaney and denying himself (and Delaney) happiness for so long. And Delaney for allowing herself to get sucked in by Donatello, again and again! My heart broke for her. So young and in love, falling without knowing if Donatello will be there to catch her.
Their love story isn’t easy (all Donatello’s fault though), but will it be worth it? And will they last?! After reading the blurb for Book 3...AHHHHHHHHHH! I NEED to know what’s coming next!
This book was EVERYTHING y'all def a 5 out of 5 for me!
#MyLife by @ajwolf_author was hands down amazing! I literally couldn't get enough ! Delaney & Donatello's story will have you feeling ALL THE EMOTIONS the way AJ writes has you literally pulled in and playing all her words in front of your face ! And the playlist oh the playlist is to die for ! Everything about this was so raw & amazing ! I can't put into words how much i truly enjoyed this story. What i do know tho is if you haven't read this series i need you to stop what you're doing and grab a copy of #MyHeart & #MyLife NOW because you're truly missing out. AJs writing style is also different and i truly enjoyed it had me completely sucked in and wanting to know everything she had to tell me ! I hope when you read it you enjoy it as much as i did ! Grab yourself a copy and lmk what you think !
Instantly after starting the fist chapter I knew I was in love. That first scene with Donatello and Delaney was the cutest thing I’ve ever read. I absolutely fell in love with the story. I couldn’t stop smiling. The relationship between Donatello and Delaney was perfection. After reading My Heart (book 1) I thought I knew what to expect from My Life, but all of my expectations were exceeded. I loved this story so much more than the first one, which is saying something because I loved it too!!
My Life is an age-gap, forbidden romance between Delaney and Donatello.
The entire story was told from Delaney's POV, alternating between the past and the present. Delaney and Donatello have a lot of baggage. The summer before she left for college, they started an illicit affair that he wanted to keep secret due to their age difference and his relationship with Delaney's brother Remy (from My Heart). Of course, he eventually breaks Delaney's heart. Once she is back home from college for the summer, sparks fly and their chemistry is obvious. They make a deal, despite Delaney knowing he would break her heart all over again. Ultimately, Donatello can't get his crap together and Delaney is forced to move on from him.
I hate to say it, but I've never wanted to punch a hero so badly in my life. Despite Donatello being a total jerk, you could feel his struggle and his love her Delaney. Her love for him was never questionable, even though she tried to move on.
I really loved that Remy and Bev were back in this story as well. Bev and Delaney have a great sisterly friendship, and Remy is definitely one over-protective big brother. If you liked book 1 in the Bloody Business series, My Heart, then you will definitely like this book as well.
First let me start with is a great read, no doubt about it. I love drama and it’s filled with it, the plot is one you all will love.
A.J. You devil queen you, know how to keep a lady trapped with your writing. You made me go through all of the feels the characters go by. My gawd!!!
My sweet sweet Delaney, I want to hug that girl so much. I cannot blame her for all the heartache she goes through, I mean, come on people! How many of us went through awful breakups and boy problems at her age, I think it’s the most vulnerable time in our lives our whole late teens through mid twenties, so that’s why I cannot fault her, and she is handling things better than I did... but him!!
I hate him so much!! Donatello is a grown A man!! He should know what the hell he wants and all that crap he makes her go through and all the things he says to her at the last chapters, my gawd!!! he is right with what he called himself, he is a coward!!! (I’m literally screaming this 😂😂😂)
Let’s see how well it goes for my girl Delaney in My Girl...
oh my gosh! I loved Delaney and Donatello's story!!! Even though it was absolutely heart wrenching at times. Lets face it, Donatello was an idiot. Not just once, but twice. I absolutely loved Remy when he was talking to his sister about true love. Oh and when he admitted to crying everyday over Bev leaving. He is this tough Mafia boss and to hear him like that was enough to melt my heart! In the end, all he wanted was the best for Delaney and not to see her hurt. There is obviously a lot more to Donatello that we don't yet know as he wouldn't be so against the relationship for no reason. Even though their was a significant age gap between them, Donatello and Delaney had such an amazing relationship. I loved their jokes and their banter. But it also broke my heart to see Donatello hurt Delaney by not committing and the fact that no matter what, she cant let him go. Jessie. Sigh. Now that is a special human right there!!! Seriously!!! How much more amazing can someone be. I am soooooo happy that Delaney, Donatello and Jessie's story is not over! Bring on book 3!!!!
Format: Kindle Edition Delaney and Donatello have a very intricate relationship. The author goes from the beginning of their relationship to the present. When I tell you I felt all of pain in the pit of my stomach and I felt all the love as well.
Donatello is the love of Delany's life, but Donatello ended things before she went to college. Delany tried to find herself but it didn't help she ends up going back home for Summer break and Donatello is relentless. Donatello is Delaney's brother's right hand in the family business if you know what I mean. ;) Remy isn't having his baby sister date Donatello, he's much older than her he thinks that he's using her. Donatello pulls all the strings to try and show Delaney he needs her but will 2 times be enough heartache to deal with? How do you mend a broken heart once let alone a 2nd time by the man you love irrevocably? Is the third time a charm? Will Remy allow his sister to go through with a relationship like this with his coworker?
We met Delaney in My Heart and I loved her straight to point attitude with Bev so I was excited for her book! Delaney didn’t disappoint. She isn’t afraid of her feelings and isn’t afraid to tell the person straight up how she feels. I felt for her so much. My heart would literally ache when her heart broke.
Donatello is our main guy who we also met in My Heart as one of Remy’s guys. He’s older, unattainable, afraid and literally I wanted to throw my kindle at his head. I honestly didn’t like him for a good portion of this book. He just couldn’t get his sh*t together. But I will say when it was time to make up for his mistakes, he did all the right things and I’m so happy Delaney started to see what she should have from him all along.
Other things I loved were seeing Remy and Bev again and I am 1000000% in love with Jessie. What I saw of him was pure perfection and I can’t wait for more of him! He was so sweet and made me want to cry because I love him so much!
AJ did a great job sticking to the roots of who we met in book one and provoking emotion! I enjoyed the story— the push and pull, glimpses of the past, the pain, and the sweet moments!
After the first book, I was sucked in to this mafia romance series. The second book was such a great story about Delaney and Donatello and of course Jessie. This book was less bloody and there were no killings. But the story was just as great. First, I have to talk about the jokes throughout the story! Omg they were great. I loved them and forced my husband to listen to them and I laughed and laughed. It was just a really cute part of Delaney and Donatello's relationship. But there was still plenty of angst, and heartbreak, and bad decisions involved. Delaney was ready for all in with Donatello, but him being 11 years older and her brother's consigliere made that more difficult. Following Delaney through her heartbreaks and discovering Jesise and using him was so relatable. But also, was she really just using him? Does he mean more to her than she thought? Jessie was exactly what she needed for her heartbreak, but no one could cure her except Donatello. Will he let her go completely or discover his feelings too late? It's very clear that Donatello does love her and care for her? And Delaney will always have feelings for Donatello, but will it all be enough? Will she be able to salvage her relationship with her brother? This book had me laughing, crying, and wanting more! I felt Delaney's heart being shattered and I felt it heal a teeny bit. I felt the confusion and the push and pull. This book had me feeling so much, it was ridiculous but I absolutely loved it! I can NOT wait for My Girl...but if I'm being g honest, I am team Donatello ❤ thank you AJ wolf for this beautiful story that makes me feel so much!
This story was told from Delaney’s POV and went between the past and the present. Delaney and Donatello have a lot of history.Earlier they have an affair that he wanted to keep secret because of their age difference and his relationship with Delaney’s brother Remy ( My Heart ). And of course, he eventually breaks Delaney’s heart. Then she comes home from college for the summer and the sparks and their chemistry is still obvious. They get together again but he can’t get his stuff together so Delaney is forced to move on from him I really loved that Remy and Bev were back in this story as well. Bev and Delaney have a great sisterly friendship, and Remy is over-protective big brother. If you liked book 1 in the Bloody Business series, My Heart, then you should like this book too.
Wow...all I can say is wow!!! When I read Book 1, I couldn't wait to delve more into Delaney and Donatellos relationship. The age gap and her very over protective big brother Remy the only thing holding Donatello back from a life with his 'Mia Vita'. ❤ The speaking back and forth in Italian I LOVED, it was truly there own little love language. Also bouncing back and forth in time, showing how their relationship had ups and downs showed, to me the true raw love they have for each. They simply can't be without one another.
I couldn't recommend this book enough!!! 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is the 2nd book in this series and is Donatella and Delaney’s story. Delaney is Remy’s younger sister, while Donatella is his best friend and right-hand man. This story flits between the past and present giving glimpses into their relationship from the beginning. This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, heart-breaking, and a toxic and passionate love affair which pulls at the heartstrings. I look forward to reading more form this author whose work I recommend for all.
It took me a bit to get into this book, even after a small introduction during My Heart.
I really enjoyed Delaney’s character, she’s bubbly & loving. It took me a while to warm up to Donatello, yet in the end, it was a case of forgiven but not forgotten.
I enjoyed the story line & Remy & Bev featuring through out.
Hit me in the feels. In book one I was crushing on Donatello and this book just set it in stone. He tries to make things right by Dee and for me that’s the sexiest thing about him. I can’t explain without spoilers but I highly recommend this book! Love AJ Wolf books. I’m definitely looking forward to more of her books
My emotions were all over the place with this book. I love/hate Donatello. Sometimes I so wanted to yell at him and then he would make me love him again. I wanted to stay hating him but couldn't. I feel like he could disappoint me again easily though. Oh, Delaney girl...what about Jessie? Seriously? I loved this book!!! It made me feel EVERYTHING!
WOAHHH!!😭😭 TO ALL MY HEA, DARK ROMANCE, AGE GAP, MAFIA BOOKWORMS 🥰

Woooooow! I was totally shocked by this book! I knew of Delaney and Donatello from reading My Heart but I never imagined their relationship to be quite like this.
Delaney is strong and just beautiful. Her relationship with Beverly makes me happy, I loved those two. My heart hurt for Delaney, I’m too soft to deal with what she did.
Donatello, the kinda guy you wanna roundhouse kick but also hug. He definitely can be a jerk but he can also be endearing and genuine.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Age gap romance is not my favorite trope but I loved Delaney so it all worked out in the end. AJ’s writing is captivating and enjoyable. I look forward to reading more of her books.
My Life by AJ Wolf was enthralling. Dalaney and Donatello have you rooting for them in this age gap, forbidden romance. Young and infatuated, Delaney sees Donatello with rose coloured glasses. He is mature, charming and sexy as sin. This is a book you definitely do not wanna miss.
I didn't expect this story to affect me the way it has.
I just wanted a good old fashion Mafia Romance, maybe some filthy steamy stuff you know what I mean.
Instead, I got my heartbroken and it's going to take some time to heal.
Delaney has been in love with Donatello for a while. The age difference and the fact that he is a close confidant to her brother the Capo has made their relationship hard. For a time they were together in secret until out of the blue he breaks up with her. They try again and like he messes it up again.
It was nice to see her away from the family. And in college, making friends and living her life away from everything.
A lot of the book deals with Delaney's heartbreak and how crippling it was for her. I would be a liar if I said this didn't hit me in the feels and took me a little longer than I would've liked to read it because my heart just got heavy. I haven't had a heartbreak like that in over 20 years (geez that makes me sound old) and yet it felt like just yesterday.
Im so excited for the next book, My Girl. Delaney's story is not over!!
Febr. 2021: Mine: Bloody Business Prequel and My Heart were merely 3 star reads for me, so I'm not gonna read the other books in the Bloody Business Series Boxset (yet?). Although I was really interested reading about Donatello; he piqued my interest from the beginning. 🥰 So... I started this book, but it was not what I expected (didn't give me that 5-star-vibe... at all), so I'm gonna put it back on the shelf. Maybe someday I'll read My Life and My Girl... maybe not! 😏
Remy: "Donatello sits in the chair next to Andrea, running his ringed knuckles together in contemplation. Where I’m covered in ink, Donatello only has one tattoo on his thumb of three arrows." I love silver jewelry on men! 🔥🥰
I loved this book to death. But Omggg I wanted to choke Donatello. His ice and cold crap was making me crazy. Sometimes I wanted to kiss him for the beautiful gestures he made for Laney, but the rest of the time I just wanted shake and slap some sense into him! Poor Laney suffered so much because of his crap. But she's so damn strong, and her sass makes me cheer for her every time. I'm glad things turned out good for them but I'm super nervous because I just read the blurb of the next book! I loved Jessie but I'm team Donatello all the way 🖤
I don’t know how many times I wanted to throw my phone while reading this story. Seriously how frustrating is Donatello be. And my heart just broke for Laney. Over and over. The emotional beating your head will take with this book is no joke. It will rip it out and dance a jig on it. But with likes like “Being broken doesn’t mean you can’t be strong; sometimes it helps prove just how strong you actually are.” Hoe can you not love this book. The more I read of Aj Wolf the deeper I fall in love with her work and her characters.
