I can't believe the way the authors ended this book and series what a waste of a good storyline it's like they got bored and wrote a crappie ending so they could go watch tv or something .reading the last book I just felt cheated it would have been better if they had never written this book and just left us hanging instead. I just don't understand all the 5 star ratings people have given I want to ask them if they have read the book
Book fell flat. I assume the writers just wanted this collaboration to be over. I enjoy the Tufo Fallout and other books. This series was even good until the last two books. I understand we can't all be on top of our game all the time and this book represents that. I do look forward to other series by the authors.
Hello, this is the end of the line for this story. I would have given it 5 stars, but the ending seemed rushed. Like they got tired of writing it. Thanks.
Awesome Adventure! Mike + Jack AND Trip!?! Perfection!!
Loved this adventure! Joining two of my favorite characters together (and authors ;) was SUCH a treat!! Add in Trip who now plays a leading role - and it’s perfection! I’ve read all the other separate Mike and Jack series’s, so I loved all the casual mentions which related to the other timelines. Some I believe must have been written into books which were crafted in the future, after this book. I realized this when reading along, recognizing the person, places, or things that can be found in other stories - and then stopping to consider which book series it related to, and where in that saga. It was interesting to discover that some of my memories which appear in this story, were not even written yet, as those series, or parts of series, didn’t even exist yet. So fun! The “A Shrouded World” series probably took me much longer to read than most others. As the journey through unique worlds and experiences, as well as ALL that occurs during each “visit” … is so masterfully crafted in detail, so well written - that it takes you right there with the characters. Thus, as they slog along, miserable and beat down - you are slogging along right with them. If you are familiar with these authors you already know - they are two of the best in this genre; expert wordsmiths. And funny as h*ll!! “Not a fan of sci-fi”? I have never liked anything that had to do with, “outer space,” or, “aliens.” Or traveling from Earth/alternate timelines, etc. But via a previous series I was slowly eased into it (Indian Hill, I believe?). Like the saying- “how do you boil a frog? Start cold and let the water heat up slowly…” (that’s the gist of quote). Well, that’s what happened to me. Thus, by the time I reached this series, I was primed and ready for the exciting romp through - well, everywhere….. And I LOVED IT!! I could go on! I’m just thrilled with this series! Ok! Stop reading ME - and start reading something actually engaging and entertaining!! Lol I heard there is new book out by one of the authors … I’m off to search that out asap!!……..
This is the last book in a series that kept me impatiently waiting for the next one to come out. I've really been invested in the lives of Mike, BT and Trip for a long long time and I ended up caring for Jack, Church and Bob just as much. The adventures of these characters kept me turning pages well into the night, but I kept putting off finishing this book, I didn't want the series to end. If you're looking for a series that has time travel, lost of aliens creatures, planet jumping and lots of action and adventure then definitely grab this series, you won't be disappointed.
Oh. My. Lord. An absolutely FANTASTIC series, RUINED in the last few chapters. Another reviewer says they thought the authors quite to go watch tv or something. I’ll take it a step further…. It’s like they finished this book while taking a dump, and when the dump was over, so was the book. The series is seriously AMAZING. To have it end the way it did, in a lazy cop-out “three weeks EARLIER” kinda way is a slap in the face to dedicated fans of the series. I’ve read almost all of the books Mark Tufo has published. I’ve read nothing of John O’Brien other than this series. Since I love the Tufo books, I’m going to have to lay this stinking pile at John’s feet. Sorry/not sorry.
My wife and I became a fan of Mark's writing from the very first book he wrote, and we been following him ever since, and then we discovered John's writing too, and also became a fan of his too. So you know, we could not pass up a series that the both of them were writing together, and we were not disappointed. We love the entire series, and we do recommend it to everyone, who loves horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and comedy, all rolled into one.
Wow, can't believe the series is over. I've very much enjoyed having both Mike and Jack, Tufo and O'Brien in a series together. I've read a few collaborations before, but this set the bar pretty high for two of the best series' merging together in a way that doesn't detract from either character or author. Made all the better, of course, by Sean Runnette narrating.
I loved the entire story line but I especially love our heroes and how they interact with each other. I loved Trip too, even though he's very exasperating at times. Very difficult to put down. I never thought I would read anything in this genre but O'Brien and Tufo have made a convert of me...at least for their books.
I am not sure how I missed this series, having been an avid fan of the Fallout Series, for years. Who doesn't need some Michael, Trip and Jack to make the days go better? This didn't disappoint and whether it was a deliberate intent to give a calming sense of peace and hope, or I just was into my feelings... I loved it!
I absolutely love both of these authors! The stories they bring to life are so easy to fall into. The characters feel as though they are a part of me at the same time as being an individual unto themselves. My only dislike is that it has ended. I could've read on and stayed with Mike and Jack until my dying day.
Very mediocre ending. I really enjoyed this series through book 6. There were great characters, epic adventures, lots of humor, and an incredible building plot. It felt like book 7 and 8 they could not figure out where to go with the story or how to end it. The ending was lackluster and abrupt. So disappointing :-(
I'm looking forward to where this book takes these characters into their next individual stories. I really enjoyed this book just wish there were more "scenes" with Mike and Jack working together.
A strange finish to a strange series. This is one of the more odd series I've read in this genre. Was I entertained? Mostly. Was this story "canon?" Maybe??? Regardless, I'm glad I've read the series through to completion.
Now that I’ve read and re-read all of the ZF books I still needed my fix of Mike and gang, definitely got that with this series, with a few new friends to add to the ‘family’. Another great read. Thanks
