Layla’s life is finally back on track – she began the year with a fabulous cruise, the art gallery is attracting a lot of interest, and there’s even the possibility of romance on the horizon.
But things never stay simple in Getaway Bay for long. The new girl in town throws Layla’s life into chaos once again, and it’s up to Addison and the Beach House Murder Club to protect their own and figure out what’s really going on.
The Getaway Bay cozy mysteries have everything you love – suspense to keep you guessing, twists you don’t see coming, and characters you want to have a cup of tea with – plus an added dose of Aussie flavour.
Getaway Bay: Come for the murder, stay for the cake!
Series order: Arson at the Art Gallery The Body in the Beach House The Corpse at the Carnival Death at the Dog Show Evil at Echo Point The Fatality at the Funeral The Girl by the Grave
Book seven in this fun series and hey - nobody died! Is that allowed? Someone always dies in a cosy mystery don't they?
Despite the ominous picture on the cover there is a crime but no death. Addison and her team are back, causing trouble, cooking and eating a lot, and trying to sort out the mystery of the girl in the graveyard. I like the relationship Addison has with the police in the small town of Getaway Bay and the way the author does not let her step over the bounds of reasonability.
Light, entertaining and well written. I am hoping for lots more!
When Addison met up with the young girl while she was walking Charlie at the beach and learned who she was - after she’d first seen her by the grave - Addison was happy for Layla. But she was also a little uneasy. Things didn’t sit quite right for Addison, and she didn’t want to see Layla hurt again after all she’d been through the previous year. While Layla was happy, Addison and her guests at the Beach House did their best to work out what was going on, even going so far as to enlist the local policeman, Isaac for help. But he was tied up with a couple of local burglaries…
The Girl by the Grave is the 7th in the Getaway Bay Cozy Mystery Series by Aussie author Grace York, and once again it was a great mystery although a little different this time. And I didn't pick the ending! An excellent twist! Set in far north Queensland, about 4 hours north of Brisbane, Getaway Bay sounds a delightfully restful place – apart from the events which make up each book 😉 The characters are easy to like – Addison is the centre of it all; a great baker and cook, with her fellow police volunteer, Adam plus the other writers who reside at the guest house. I’ve come to know the residents of Getaway Bay more after each book, and I can’t wait for the next - #8 The Holiday Homicide - which comes out in December this year. Highly recommended!
This was another enjoyable read in this well written and engaging mystery series featuring Addison Lake and the folk of Getaway Bay.
A teenage girl is seen hanging around the graveyard who seems to have a family connection with Addison's cousin Layla, but Addison is not convinced that the girl isn't hiding something. Layla's has only recently recovered from the deaths of her father and sister and her art gallery burning down so Addison doesn't want her hurt again and decides to find out more about the mystery girl.
Another quick, fun episode made all the more delicious by the description of the goodies Addison bakes.
The Girl by the Grave is book seven in the Getaway Bay series by Grace York. After a tragic year, Layla's through her life is finally on track with the opening of her new art gallery. However, that was not the case. A young girl and a series of breaking will turn Layla's life upside down again. Will Addison and the Beach House Murder Club be able to protect Layla. The readers will continue to follow Addison and Layla to find out what happens.
The Girl by the Grave is another fantastic cozy mystery by Grace York. I engage with this book from the start. At times you have to laugh at what the characters are doing. I love Grace York's portrayal of her characters and how they interact with each other throughout this book. The Girl by the Grave is well written and researched by Grace York. I like Grace York description of the settings of The Girl by the Grave that allows me to imagine been part of the book's plot.
The readers of The Girl by the Grave will learn what harm can happen when involved in a con. Also, the readers will understand the work involved in setting up an art gallery.
