Full Throttle! Loved this book! I loved the fact that Mrs. Vasser touched on relevant issues that we as a nation are facing now. Also, I learned somethings about NASCAR and racing that I never knew. Genius! Colby was that girl! She was a strong woman who had a passion and love for racing. It was in her DNA. Although, she tried to bury it due to a tragedy, she couldn't for to long. Sometimes, you have to return to the thing that makes you happy! Colby returned to her first love but also found real love!
Liam was a no nonsense person. He was a self assured millionaire. He always had to bail his little brother out of trouble. But this last one lead to him finding love he least expected. Liam was that man! He knew when he saw Colby he had to have her. Their chemistry was hot 🔥. I loved how he helped her heal and find another way to get the revenge she craved. Full Throttle was lightning good! Great read!

This author really did her homework and it shows. I didn't fully understand what happened to Asher but this wasn't about him anyway. I enjoyed the journey and I felt like I was in the middle of all the action. NASCAR is indeed, way behind the times and (all) minorities--particularly women, still have a long way to go whether behind the wheel or working in the pit. I felt the heroine's pain, people are always trying to pigeon-hole women, telling us through words and actions that we don't belong and/or telling us to wait our turn. The wait is over!

Overall, the liked the story, but not the ending, it felt unfinished and I felt someone more important than Liam was missing from it. Recommended Read it!

Colby was a very smart woman who wanted to be like her idol "the Magician". However, time left her with nightmares about the last time with him.
Brian Lockwood finds himself in a nightmare and needs his big brother Liam's help. Liam is a fantastic gambler and business man. However, he is not happy in having to bail his brother out of the mess he finds himself in.
The paths of the Lockwood brothers will be forever changed when they encounter Colby and her father Cyrus.
Another member of the James family has ties to the Lockwoods as well.
An family enemy tries to destroy both families but finds that impossible.
As an woman of color, NASCAR, held no appeal to me, but this author has given great insight to a "good old boy" sport that needs a huge splash of the family.
An old friend of Liam's and those of us who love this author makes an unforgettable appearance. There must be a part 2 to the Lockwood's to make an old wrong right.
Loved this book from the beginning to the end...

The world of NASCAR...

I get so excited when I read a book that feels a little different from the norm. Whether it be through the characters, a unique career, an exotic or a remote locale or insight into an industry not many know about. I love being swept up in a world that very few get to experience up close. That is how I felt as I read about the world of NASCAR from the perspective of African-American female driver who is destined to make history.

The secondary characters were well developed and added to the story. Which is always a plus for me.

The romance between Colby - the heroine and Liam - Colby’s love interest, was almost secondary to me. Although, I fully enjoyed them and their journey. However, reading about Colby’s struggles to be acknowledged by NASCAR and others for her superior skill on the track in a predominantly white male industry and sport is what really captured and held my attention. Highly recommend.

I loved Colby. I appreciated her desire to dominate in a field where the percentage of woman is infinitesimally small. You could feel Colby’s passion for racing. Ms. Vasser did a great job introducing novices to not only auto racing but auto mechanics. The relationship between Colby and Liam was a little too instalove-ish for me, but their connection was electric and the depths of their passion for one another and their careers was tangible. I do hope that Brian and Lila’s story gets told next.

Loved it

Mainly because the story was unusual. In the genre we don’t often get ambitious, strong women who pursue their dreams no matter what and don’t compromise themselves to make a relationship work. Colby was a bit quick tempered at times and so focused on her goals that she felt to see the bigger picture. An exemple was when she found out the she might not be lead. As frustrating as this was, she jumped to conclusions, refused to listen and talk although she knew what the circuit is like. Also let’s be honest, companies have interests that are not always aligned with yours and are not always keen to go the extra mile to accommodate you. The story was also topical with NASCAR and their racists practices. Liam was wonderful. He was a rigid businessman, (he had to be to create an empire at a young age), however he was also singularly focused. Once he accepted that he wanted Colby he did everything he could to get her but more importantly help her achieve her dreams. He put up, his money and connections to advance her cause. His loyalty to his brother was also fantastic. As he said, once he found out what was at stake, he could have ring fenced his company and called it a day. All the secondary characters were helpful to push the story along. Brian clearly had the most growth. He went from impulsive, reckless and wasteful to dedicated and quite lovable. He found his niche. I liked how his relationship with Liam also grew and that there was mutual respect. Will Lila and Brian be the next book? That’s actually one of my reservations with the book. As much as I enjoy IR stories, I disliked the stories where all the brothers, sisters, cousins, friends are in IR relationships with each other. Far too close and somewhat “easy” for me. I wouldn’t mind a volume 2 where we get to see how Colby and Liam navigate their relationship in the spotlight.

She's baaaack!! LasShawn Vasser returns to the scene with an exciting love story with NASCAR as a backdrop. I have to admit, I wasn't sure if I would like this story. I wasn't in the mood to read about a tomboy who suddenly turned into an elegantly coifed woman. I am happy to say that I was totally off-base. Our heroine, is a young woman in touch with her femininity AND she's into cars! She's accomplished, learned, beautiful and knows her way around an engine. This story has it all, a strong heroine, a sexy, alpha hero. Liam is not intimidated by a SBW but appreciative of the many talents and all that she brings to the table, even if it doesn't align with his plans. I also appreciate the cast of characters in this story. Really appreciate the development of all characters as well as the backstory of Lila and Brian. Might be interesting to take a look at their love story. OAN, Vasser continues to provide excellent packaging-the cover is FIRE! I hate to admit it but a great-looking cover will get my attention every time. Glad to say that almost every time, her stories live up to the beautiful covers! Well done Ms. Vasser! I remain a loyal and pleased fan!

Love it!

Amazon has permanently banned me from giving reviews so I'll stick to Goodreads. I enjoyed Liam and Colby story. Colby don't play. I love her strong character. I enjoy strong female lead. Liam is a no nonsense business owner with a few tricks up his sleeve. What a man, what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man!

I love this book . The love story between Colby and Liam. Two people not looking for or wanting to find love, but could not deny it. Also the love they have for their families and friends gave them the strength to face age old and modern day issues together. This is a great feel good love story that I will read again

Heart racing!!

1. It was great to read a grown folks love story, meaning falling in love without all the angst.

2. The race scenes were heart stopping! They had me on the edge of my seat like I was actually there!

3. THE ENDING WAS ALL THAT!! O.M.G. #BlackGirlMagic

A Solid Effort

This book was a solid effort. I wanted more in terms of character development. I loved the journey into racing. I am not an insta-love fan, so this one didn't do enough to completely convince me. I kept thinking that this one needed more time to go from good to great.

An excellent read filled with mystery, drama, sadness, secrets, friendship, family and love ❤️.

What makes a great author is one who researchers the topic of their story. Baby, when I tell you she did her research, she did her research! Excellent writing and highly recommended!

This was one damn hell of a good read! 🚥

Colby and Liam's story was one hell of good ride. I'm talking about the need for speed kind of love story, that was just as exciting as being on the race track with Ms. James behind the wheel of her race car. The girl was BAD! Her man was a force to be reckoned with in his own right. The two of them together was all so sexy. A the plot of the story was so creative. A black female race car driver doing her thing in a world that is dominated by white males, let's just say NASCAR never had a chance to deny her greatness. This story blew me away. I so recommend. You will not be disappointed. Let the race begin. ENJOY! 🏁❕🌹

In a world that kept boxing her out and telling her that she doesn’t belong, Colby allowed her #Blackgirlmagic to shine, blinding the haters and naysayers.

Exhilarating

This book was not only good it was great. It had my attention and held it to the end. Whist I wanted Lorene done for murder, I know it would have been unrealistic given the world we live. I had to be satisfied with, hopefully being banned from the sport for life. I was impressed with the author's incorporating NASCAR's baninng of the confederate flag into the storyline this making the book more appealing and realistic. I loved the relationship development bhai between hero and heroine. I also loved the secondary love story between Brian and Lila. All in all a very good read. Can't wait to reAd Gina's story.

Get ready!

I really enjoyed this book! It’s been a while since I’ve read a book in a day! I’m not going to lie, I almost gave up on this book, but after the female character was introduced and I read how much spunk she had, I just knew I’d enjoy this more than I’d originally anticipated! And I sure did! It’s not my usual page turner but I was entertained all the same! I give my thanks to the author for also referencing the skin tone of the female character! Allowing her to be strong but not alone! I only wish that it had a more elaborate end with the main character, and her cousins relationship/non-relationship status.

Wow, high octane in testosterone and driving. Full throttle comes out of left field with rich boy buying a racing team. His big brother steps in to save him, so he thinks.

I loved the pace the back and forth by Liam and Colby. Great to note that a female can drive just as good if not better in NASCAR racing 'supposedly at male dominant ' field. A loving sister stepping into her brothers shoes to get that spot in the race, and to put the guy in his place that purportedly got her brother killed.

Loved the story and chemistry between Liam and Colby.
