Debts and her ever-growing task list were all Ashleigh Schuller knew. Growing up under the control of her step-mother and the professional Domme, Eleanor Durham, she had resigned herself to the life of a house slave while every cheque from work went towards funding her step-family’s extravagant lifestyle. So even when the normally stoic Hunter Davis, the Dom training with Eleanor, shows an interest in her, Ash does what she can to ignore her growing attraction to him.

But when a woman in a traditional Asian silk dress steps into the diner where she's a waitress at, Ash discovers the possibility of something more. And as Eleanor pushes her harder and harder, Ash has to decide whether standing up to Eleanor is worth the risk, or would she lose Hunter, her past and her life.

Because spells cast at midnight have a way of turning around a person's life.

P. Stormcrow grew up with a love for love and somehow that turned into authoring contemporary and paranormal BDSM romances. Fierce women and sensitive men fill her stories while she examines social norms and challenges conventional tropes of the genre through her craft. She is the recipient of the 2021 inaugural Good Sex Awards in the category of Erotic Touch. Born in Hong Kong and raised in Canada, she enjoys writing about both cultures.

In addition to being an author, she is also a techie, a graphic designer, a mother, a lover, a fighter and a little bit of everything else in between. When she's not typing away madly on her phone and running into poles, she enjoys copious amounts of tea, way too many sugary treats and as many sci-fi / fantasy / paranormal TV shows as she can sneak in time to watch.

Drowning in debt, Ashleigh Schuller works at a diner and like a slave for her Domme stepmother. Ash sees no way out for herself as she doesn't want to lose her dear father's home. Yet when Hunter Davis comes to take lessons from her stepmother, Ash can't deny her attraction to him. A mysterious woman turns up at the diner and Ash discovers the possibility there is more to her life, but will she take the risk of losing everything to find out what is out there for her beyond the house?

A marvelously written modern retelling of Cinderella with a light BDSM twist. Ash endeared herself to me right from the beginning, and I rooted for her even when there didn't seem to be any hope. Hunter is hot, and even more so because he loves old video games too! I love how Ash and Hunter's relationship built. The secrets, oh! I don't want to give anything away, but it makes this such a unique tale. A must-read!

Credible spin on a classic

I loved this spin on Cinderella. Ash is a modern Cinderella with blackmail and family debt. This adds a later of credibility to her predicament which I loved. I immediately connected with her and wanted her to have an HEA. Eleanor and Caroline were frightening villains. However my favorite scenes took place in the diner. Stormcrow transported me there and the characters were brought to life...but I won't spoil it. As for our hero, Hunter, he is the realistic, gentle Dom which makes every Stormcrow book great. With unparalleled, honest representation of "the lifestyle" , the author creates a Dom fit for a fairytale. Hunter is positively swoon - worthy. I highly recommend this book for the realistic heroine who gets to serve her HEA on her agreed upon terms.

This was an entertaining story. It was a modern day Cinderella story with a twist of BDSM and supernatural powers. Ash is such a sweetie though a bit naive and Hunter is a true alphas. I thought they were absolutely adorable together, and their chemistry was off the charts steamy. This story made me smile and was really cute.

I received a free advanced review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my fair and honest opinion.

This is the 2nd book I've read written by P. Stormcrow; she has done a great job at writing a good book; I can’t wait to read more of her books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
