Predatory loan shops ruin small towns.

But what happens when the loan shark gets murdered and everyone in town had a reason to kill?

Pine Grove is a comfy place. The kind of town where every living room has a giant, over stuffed armchair. Where there's smoke in every chimney and a pie in every oven.

But all this murder is a problem.

Miss May used to be a lawyer. She's solved lots of murders so far. But every new murder feels like she's back at square one. No information. No suspects. Killer on the loose.

Chelsea and Teeny are her plucky sidekicks. They're in it for the snacks. And the thrills. And the cherry on top.

Yes. This murder happened at the local creamery. It's a crime against ice cream. And sprinkles! And whipped cream.

But someone's hot fudge sun-dead and it's up to our girls to find out.

Will our heroines find the killer? Or will this be the first suspect to get away?

You'll love this clean cozy because everyone loves high stakes mysteries with lots of humor.

Spring is in the air and Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are in the mood for ice cream and Teeny is eager to win the best restaurant in Pine Grove competition. However, their enjoyment of their ice cream is ruined when a greasy giant threatens Emily, the ice cream shop owner. This person, Todd, is a loan shark opening a new business next door and has a long list of demands for Emily. He can't even be swayed by ice cream, which he claims he doesn't like-imagine that! Not even extra sprinkles can lift Teeny's mood although Emily seems pretty calm. Emily gives in to Todd's demands and life goes on. Chelsea is excited to spend a romantic date night with Wayne but when she discovers Todd's lifeless body on the floor of his shop, date night is over. With Wayne back in cop mode, Chelsea knows there's no hope for their date OR for answers to the murder mystery. She recruits Miss May and Teeny to do the job once again. Their search for the murderer leads them to follow unexpected people, Pine Grove residents they were certain were nice, and also takes them to some of the most unusual places they've ever been. Can they solve this one without Wayne's help?

I didn't enjoy this one as much as The Smoking Bun but I still liked it a lot. The murder victim was the perfect person to kill and the murderer wasn't someone I felt connected to either. I did feel the characters spent too much time chasing red herrings. There's plenty of humor in this one and Chelsea's characteristic villain thwarting karate. Some of the humor comes from a cringy moment the characters KNOW is cringy but justify it. I was drooling over the ice cream but skipped the lists of Miss Teeny's savory foods.

I didn't notice any major typos but Ch. 23 has a formatting error and appears in the middle of a page without a proper heading. No biggie. I do wish "alright" and "donut" would be spelled correctly though. Apparently even Webster's has given up on correcting people and accepts those spellings as legitimate. *sigh*

Todd was one heck of a nasty dude. He was prepared to lie, cheat, steal and bully his way to whatever he wanted. His demands were outrageous and his behavior appalling. If he treats fellow business owners that way, his personal relationships were even worse. This guy is better off dead. This was a complicated case because of the nature of Todd's business. Who wouldn't want a quick loan salesman dead?

Let's start with Emily. She seems very nice and very chill but she has an intense side to her she doesn't let out very often. Then she runs away. Miss May assumes Emily is guilty but can they prove it? I think Emily was running scared because whoever killed Todd might be after her next. She may even have an idea or know whodunit. I like Emily and don't want her to be the murderer. The same with Amy. Amy wanted the storefront and was willing to pay an exorbitant amount of rent for the space. Amy is kind of naïve, sweet and innocent. She's a nice girl and her needs are simple. I don't think she has it in her to kill. Her boyfriend, Zack, is another good suspect. He was supposed to share the rent with Amy but now he's gone off to the desert alone with their RV after an argument about the shop. Zack is kind of dumb. He's too stupid to murder someone on purpose.

Better options are Todd's customers but they don't get named so we'll move on to his family. Amber and Buddy are Todd's spoiled children. Unlike their father, they don't have the intelligence or motivation to make money. They're lazy, whiny and stupid. I wouldn't be surprised if they killed their father to get life insurance money or in revenge for something he wouldn't do for them. Their mother, Eve, is also a strong candidate for murderer. I feel sorry for her being married to such a louse. I feel bad because she's a harried housewife with no help from the adult children and she knows what Todd is and tells it like it is. She's also not very friendly or helpful though. Another strong candidate for murderer is Damien Hamilton. He's the landlord who owns the building where Emily and Todd do business. Damien is a slimy, underhanded businessman who has a misguided sense of ethics. I think he could easily have murdered Todd. Was it Sal the deli guy? The mailman? Who DIDN'T Todd have a beef with for some ridiculous reason or another? One more new character is Kim Johnson, head of security at Washington Pines. She is insanely intense and super strict about the rules.

Chelsea is back to her karate kicking ways here. She still gets nervous but she has moxie enough to pursue the investigation on her own. I also like how her relationship with Wayne has progressed past the "he's so good looking" phase to actually getting to know each other. He's a little less arrogant and trying hard to win over Chelsea but work keeps getting in the way. He's still dismissive of the trio of amateur sleuths, refusing to admit they're better than he and his boss. Teeny babbles too much about Jenna and Mr. Flowers and is kind of a bully herself, forcing everyone to vote for her. She even bribes people with Miss May's pies without even asking Miss May about it. Miss May has a mild romantic subplot. OOoh! Mr. John Wentworth is a kindly older man in the neighborhood who has the hots for Miss May. I agree with her that he comes on too strong but when you're advanced in years perhaps you just want to seize the moment because you don't know how much time you have left. There's another potential suitor for her, one I like better.

As usual, the quirky locals are on hand to make the reader laugh. Liz, the editor of the Pine Grove Gazette is in fine form here. Usually I like her because she's tough and outspoken but I kind of have to side with Chelsea's feelings on their interaction in this book. Humphrey, Teeny's regular, is eating more than ever and as grumpy. Since KP's imprisonment, he's gotten LESS grumpy. I like how he can joke with Miss May and laugh at stuff now. He's still a bit crusty though. Tom Gigley is always a surprise and a contradiction. He's so weird it's funny. My favorite character is Steve the dog! He's sooo sweet! I can see his puppy dog brown eyes and they make me melt! My favorite human is always Petunia. Her sarcastic, wise-cracking voice makes me laugh and her poker skills leave me in awe of her. Watch out for Ethel though, she's going to take over when Petunia leaves. These old ladies make me laugh especially today because I just visited a senior living center and the old ladies were playing cards! (with a staff member, in memory care so no illegal betting rings going on that I'm aware of). I will miss P and her card games. I didn't care for the dog groomer mysteries and she's not as much fun.

Bonus points for a random side trip to Arthur Avenue! HECK YEAH! My dad's favorite place. Try Sr. Borgatti's homemade ravioli. They're AMAZING! However, that has nothing to do with the story at all and it's not even where Teeny needed to be.

A threatening store owner, leases the store next to the Cherry On Top ice cream shop and terrifies on the ice cream store owner. Soon afterward Chelsea stumbles on Todd’s body in his store. Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny are determined to find the killer after the owner of the ice cream shop is suspected of the murder.

There is a lot of action and colorful characters making this story one I couldn’t put down. The escapades that the trio run into are scary and hilarious at times. You never know what kind of situations they will find themselves in which makes for great reading.

I really enjoyed reading this and am looking forward to the next book in this series. Thanks for a great plot and interesting characters.

When a low life bully moves in next door to sweet as ice cream Emily's Cherry on Top shop and threatens her, there is no love lost when his body is found the next day. With no shortage of suspects, Miss May, Chelsea, and Teeny are determined to bring the truth to light even if it means questioning those they care about.

This is the first time in reading this but it called me to it the story did. Murder is abound and we get to see what it takes to find out the answers. Pine Grove is a place that is hard to find nowadays but it is in here. These characters give you their best when it comes to finding those answers. This one is also fun thanks to our characters. This though is also a page turner for sure.

This is an excellent book of three friends who solve murders together. In this story there are multiple people who are suspects of murdering a man who was mean to everyone. I enjoyed the relationship between these women and loved the grit they showed.

This was a good read. Chelsea is on a date and she finds a dead body. Now her and her friends are trying to solve the case. The bad news is that the guy was really unlikable. Which left it possible for anyone to have been the killer. Of course they solve it by the end and all is well for now.

This is book twelve of the Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery series and sees Chelsea, Miss May and their friend Teeny, have yet another murder to try and solve in the small town of Pine Grove. The trio who all have some free time on a sunny day meet up at The Cherry on Top, a small ice cream parlour in town, and they witness an argument in the shop from a man called Todd, the new owner of the empty unit next door. He is opening up a predatory lending shop as he likes to say, and has a list of demands about the shared space the two shops share and what he wants from it, in particular for Emily the ice cream shop owner to stop playing music, remove her outdoor seating from his side of the patio space and a number of parking spaces, and so much more. He rants on at her and calls himself a predator and above them all! Not a nice man and he looks more like a mugger than a businessman, as Teeny didn’t dare go and get an ice cream before the others arrived, while he was in the store, which is very unlike her! He calls all the other people in town his prey and threatens to destroy the ice cream shop if his demands are not met! Not a nice way to meet your new neighbour at all.

Chelsea’s love life is finally moving on, with her long held feelings for Detective Wayne having a chance to see where they lead as the two start to have a few dates together. Wayne arranges for a special meal out together at Grandma’s Restaurant, the one owned by Teeny, and afterwards they go by the ice cream parlour. Chelsea has had a little bit too much of her favourite dish and is feeling a bit overstuffed, so stays outside for a bit of fresh air and rests her head on the cool window of the empty shop next door. Unfortunately, this makes her feel even sicker when she sees a body on the floor, which is obviously dead! They check it out briefly before Wayne comes to his senses and calls in the Chief of Police, Sunshine Flanagan, someone who definitely doesn’t match her name in any way! She even keeps Chelsea detained for hours to question her, when she clearly had nothing to do with it, other than finding a body at the end of her date!

The dead man is the obnoxious Todd and the landlord is Damien Hamilton, who the trio find trying to hike his prices for the now empty again shop, to the local mobile pet grooming lady Amy, who had already been offered the shop, before Damien passed her over for Todd. It turns out that Todd was just the sort of person the trio thought he was, as they uncover more dastardly deeds he has done all over Pine Grove. The police force are just as ineffective in investigating the murder as usual, other than to try and stop the trio from trying to solve the case themselves as normal. A large range of suspects come to the trio’s attention as with every case they investigate, with most being offered apple pies or some other baked goods by Miss May. A sure sign that the person being visited is actually being looked at as a suspect by the women. The trio have almost met their match on this case and the main suspect seems far too obvious and they have to change their direction if they are ever going to solve the murder. Otherwise this may be the first case they don’t manage to catch. A bit more of an attempt for romance between Wayne and Chelsea, as well as a few possible suitors for Miss May, much to the amusement of the other two. Another foodie filled investigation for the trio, starting off at an ice cream parlour and taking them to quite a few different locations to find clues. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

When you have a new tenant, Todd, in the store next to their friend Emily's Ice Cream shop who is hated by everyone in town and he is murdered, does anyone care? There is a very long list of suspects including his wife and kids, Emily, the obnoxious landlord and every one else in town. But it just so happens that Chelsea finds Todd's dead body lying in the store he was renting while she was on her date with Wayne, a detective in the town's police station. So Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny find they must look into the murder, even though the victim was a hateful character, it was the right thing to do. And besides, they always seem to solve the cases much to the chagrin of Wayne's boss who has a strange type of dislike for Chelsea. With this case, the ladies follow suspects to a spa, deep woods, a retirement village and a state park. But no one and nothing seems to add up. Can they find the killer? Will it be one of their friends? With lots of twists and turns and a laugh out loud adventure, we are taen on a great roller coaster ride until the end! I love this whole series because we are treated to suspense, mystery and lots of humor! I received and ARC from Booksprout, but the opinions here are strictly my own.

Enjoying a romantic evening together, Chelsea and Wayne, her detective boyfriend, inadvertently discover a murder when Chelsea glances through a building’s window and sees the body of the nasty tenant on the floor. Due to the nature of Todd’s loan shark business, the suspect list is filled with people who disliked him. And as soon as Emily, owner of the ice cream shop next door to Todd, is tagged as the prime suspect, Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny jump right into the mystery to clear her name and find the actual murderer. Will the ladies be able to track down the killer?

This is always such a fun series with good friends that never let the reader down. The clever title of each mystery gets me laughing for the first 5 minutes before I can begin reading! The characters are charming, fearless, and a delight to see in action as they relentlessly seek justice, usually for their friends who wrongfully get implicated. Grab your copy and enjoy their pursuit as you try to figure out the clues before the team catches the bad guy! With this many suspects, this one could keep you up all night looking for clues!

No Cone Unturned book 12 in the ”Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery” series by Chelsea Thomas. I love spending time in Pine Grove, NY. with Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny! I enjoyed this latest instalment in the series, the characters are well-developed and we continue to learn a little bit more about each of them. My favourites are still Teeny, aunt May and Chelsea. I love all the Teeny-isms she’s such a hoot!

The mystery has plenty of twists and turns that you are keep you guessing. I continue to enjoy this cozy mystery series. I find them to be entertaining and the plot moves at a steady pace that keeps you engaged.

I can’t wait for the next instalment as well as the spin off series!

I highly recommend this book/series. It can easily stand alone but I recommend you read the series from the beginning.

Miss May, Chelsea, and Teeny are on their way to The Cherry On Top ice cream shop when they observe Emily and an awfully rude man having a heated discussion. Todd has rented out the other have of the duplex where Emily's shop is and he is making unreasonable demands on Emily's business. Todd is going to open a "Predatory Lending" business and is a mean rude man. Later that night Chelsea and Wayne are on a date and decide to go for ice cream, Chelsea looks inside the duplex and sees Todd's body lying on the floor. So who killed him? His family who didn't like him? Could sweet Emily have done it? She is on the top of the suspect list, especially after the way she is acting after the discovered body. Things are not adding up as the girls go about their amateur sleuthing. Who will find the killer first, the girls or the police? What about Chelsea and Wayne's relationship? What do you do when the most hated man in Pine Grove gets murdered? If your are
Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea you investigate! Despite being a despicable person, and hated by everyone including his family there weren’t a lot of people with motives to kill him! The few suspects they have all have good motives to kill him. This case was a tough one for trio to solve but they always come through.
I enjoyed the story and was surprised by who the killer was. I really enjoy the moments between Chelsea and Wayne. I’m excited that Miss May has finally got a date! The trio are all finally in a good place. I love when Chelsea gets to use her karate skills. I love this book and this series! The authors are amazing! I highly recommend this book and this series!

No Cone Unturned is the 12th book in the Apple Orchard Cozy series by Chelsea Thomas.

Pine Grove would be a great place to live if there weren’t so many murders. Fortunately Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are there to lookout for the town since the police force is less than adequate.

A predatory lending business with an unpleasant owner plans to open up next to the ice cream shop. When the owner is found dead, the three amateur sleuths have to figure out who killed him from a long list of people, including some of their friends. There are some surprises in this that I didn’t see coming. While this is going on, Teeny also trying to get votes to be named best restaurant. There’s a lot of humor and some romance.

Chelsea and Wayne are on a date when they decide on ice cream as dessert from the shop Cherry on the Top. While Wayne is inside buying the ice cream, Chelsea waits outside. The shop next door has been leased out and in looking through the window, she suddenly spots a dead body.

Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are on the case where there seems to so many suspects who appear to have wanted the victim dead. Even with all the investigating that they are doing, Teeny is still pushing everyone who visits Grandmas restaurant to vote it as the Best Restaurant in Pine Grove.

Read more about how the three woman continue in investigating as well as how the relationship between Wayne and Chelsea progress.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cozy mystery. The quirky characters feel like personal friends. The story is one of the better ones presented by this writing team!

Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are neck deep in another series of murders this time involving their friend Emily who owns the Cherry on Top ice cream parlour. When her sleazy abusive neighbor Todd is murdered next door Emily looks like the prime suspect. At the same time Teeny is trying to win the best of Pine Grove restaurant award. Chelsea is making headway in her romance with Wayne. And Miss May is asked on a date by two gentlemen. The ladies have their hands full with their amateur investigation and their personal lives.

The three super sleuths Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny have a one heck of a case to work out this time and ugh the way Chelsea comes across the victim, well yeah it would only happen to Chelsea! lol Teenys sprinkles are at risk so the ladies need to make sure they work out who the killer is but boy there are quiet a few suspects and throw in Chelsea and Wayne's budding relationship this is an absolute page turner. I can not wait to see what happens to all the ladies especially as Chelsea isn't the only one being courted and the news about Petunia and Amy .. well I may have just done a bit of a happy dance!!

Chelsea and Wayne are on a much anticipated date and neither expected to find a dead body. Miss May and Teeny wanted to hear about the date and were stunned to find out there was another murder in Pine Grove. Teeny, Miss May and Chelsea begin their investigation. Chelsea ends up seeing Liz for a disguise that comes in handy a couple of times during the investigation. One murder leads to 2. The three ladies finally solve the crime. During the celebration at Grandmas Restaurant Chelsea finds Wayne has a surprise for her. This is a great addition to the series.

Another wonderful cozy from Chelsea Thomas! Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny find themselves once again in the middle of a murder mystery. What started out as a romantic evening out for Chelsea and Wayne, her boyfriend and the local detective, goes all wrong when Chelsea discovers a body in the empty building next to the ice cream shop. When it appears Emily, the owner of the ice cream shop, has become the prime suspect, Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny jump right in to find the real killer and clear Emily’s name. This installment of the series is lighthearted good fun. While describing a murder mystery as numerous might seem to be a conflict, this book as with others in the series blends those two descriptions effortlessly. The characters are quirky, the small town vibe is consistent and the storyline unique. Anyone looking for anyone looking for an entertaining read that won't strain their brain should read this story.

Fantastic!!
This book can definitely be read as a stand alone. I found that there is more depth to the characters if you read the whole series! It is so worth it! This book is funny, has a great plot, has twists & turns and also a touch of romance! The full meal deal! If Ms. Thomas can write faster I’d be a really happy camper. I have a mental image of the town so it’s really fun to add to my imaginary town with each book! This one did a super job with additions! You’ll never guess the killer either! Shhhh......

Chelsea is on a date with Wayne when she finds the dead body of an extremely rude man. The man was obnoxious and caused trouble with everybody in town. Miss May, Teeny, and Chelsea investigate the murder. Follow along as they hunt down clues and try to piece together who wanted him dead. This is another great story in the apple orchard mysteries. The conversations between Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea are great and you feel like you are right there with them. Can't wait for the next story to come out.

Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are at it again, with predictably humorous results. Who killed Todd, the very unlikable guy who tormented the sweet ice cream shop owner next door before he even moved into his space? With red herrings and a twisty plot they must sort through all the people who hated Todd to find the one person who hated him enough to kill him. After 12 books, this series hasn't gone stale or run out of clever ideas. I'm looking forward to the next book!

A new business owner in town begins threatening Amy, the owner of the local ice cream shop. When the man turns up dead Amy becomes the first suspect Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny look for. While the trio hunts for a killer, Chelsea and Wayne sneak in a couple of romantic dates.
This was another good addition to this series. There were some interesting interactions between characters while the ladies were investigating. This book seemed a bit less campy than some of the others in the series and I liked that. I enjoy this series and look forward to the next book and recommend this book.

I really enjoyed reading No Cone Unturned, it has a lot of action, a bit of romance, and lots of good humor. The lovely trio of detectives cover all bases to find the cullprit, this time - more than once - they go hiking in the woods, drive around a lot, and end up discovering one more murder, prior to finding who is the killer. Romance is around the corner for persons, and I´m looking forward to seeing how things will develop in the next book.

A loan shark is murdered and to save Emily (their friend) from being suspect number one, Miss May, Chelsea, and Teeny are on the hunt again for a murderer. The storyline is full of fun banter and situations. The characters are relentless in their search for the killer among an extremely long list of possibles. Surprises and twists stir the pot with suspense. Love this town and all of its characters and relationships. Can not wait for the next storyline.

Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are back on the case when another murder strikes the town.

Things go back to basic when a not so like man is killed and there is few suspects. Surprisingly few suspects for someone so hated and no real motives. Watch as they will come together and bring justice to the murder.

A delightful fun cozy read with enjoyable characters.

Another fun visit with Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny. This time a new business owner is found dead after arguing with the owner of the ice cream parlor. The girls don't believe that Emily could have possibly murdered the man but who did? Can they solve the murder? Will Chelsea and Wayne be able to have a real romance? Will Miss May find love too?
