In the year 2163 a corrupt World Government controls everything on our planet and beyond.
Sixteen year-old Sierra has been so caught up in her own world of saving animal test subjects and her father’s disappearance, she hasn’t paid much attention. When she finally finds his location, she and her friend set off on a covert interplanetary mission to rescue him, she begins to see the corruption first hand.
Discovering that her father has been on the front lines secretly trying to save human test subjects inspires her to join a revolution. But she is afraid of the collateral damage of hurting the people she loves. Will she find the strength to make a deal with the mad scientist Cromwell to save not just her friends and family but everyone?
Replaced Parts by Stephanie Hansen was a wonderful young adult science fiction novel that was bingeable and fun to read. this story transports us to the year 2163 and our protagonist Sierra a 16 yo and the other cast of characters were incredibly fun to read about. Sierra is a wonderful and brilliant young woman who I feel is such a great example for young adults for her passion in science, works in genetics, and even saving animals - she is haunted by the fact that her father has left her and her mother. As she continues to search for him, she realizes that her father did not leave them but was in fact taken, and the corrupt World Government may be behind his disappearance.
The pacing was fantastic and really kept me on the edge of my seat. I loved the characters and the side characters as well that really brought the story to life and made it highly entertaining to read. Overall, I thought that the plot and pacing was fantastic and this is a fun science fiction book that I highly recommend for being very well written that is also highly entertaining.
Replaced Parts by Stephanie Hansen is a ya science fiction thriller that will keep you binging until it’s over.
5/5 stars
Siennas father left her and her mother years ago. She does research into healing and genetics, but lately shes been going outside the scope and is just a few days away from possibly getting kicked out of the program, when she finds out her father didn’t leave them, he was taken from them.
Sienna was a great main character. A brilliant scientist. Incredibly fun to read about. I loved her. Al was a great side character, as were Yesha, Viscerous, Albina, and Colsam. The entire cast of characters, even our villain were entertaining and lovable.
The science in this book is so fascinating. Talking koalas, healing, non-bio humans (insane!), cloning and so much more. I was so entranced by all of the creative additions Stephanie made to this book. I felt like I was reading a far more entertaining medical journal.
The plot of this book was very fast paced, kept me guessing, kept me flying through the book. I genuinely loved it.
This is one for my sci-fi fans for sure, but it’s such a solid ya book I would recommend it to any of my ya fans as well!
I really enjoyed this book! The story takes place in 2163 and follows sixteen year old Sierra as she travels to another planet to rescue her father who is being held as a medical researcher on another planet. Sierra creates a false identity and sneaks into the facility posing as a lab specialist. When she arrives she finds that things are so much worse than expected and realizes she needs to find a way to liberate everyone at the facility and bring them back to earth.
This book is so well written! I really liked the different point of views we are given and love the futuristic nature of the story. The author really got creative while setting the scene with various inventions! The book kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time rooting for Sierra. This book has a little of everything sci-fi, suspense, family ties, YA romance, and even ASL representation.
I’d recommend this book to people who enjoyed The Institute By Stephen King as the medical research facility setting reminded me a lot of that novel. I was also reminded of Star Trek Picard while reading!
I adored this book. The science and technology in the book is amazing and seems do possible for our future. The ending was the best, with unexpected twists and had me gasping in surprise. Can't wait for the next in the series.
Well tickle me silly comrades, I was beyond surprised how much I enjoyed this one! To be fair though, you know I love a good sci-fi goodness in my life, and I think because this was more young adult than my normal adult genre it surprised me how much I enjoyed Replaced Parts.
Firstly, the plot was fascinating. The futuristic world was believable, or maybe I am just a crazy sci-fi groupie who enjoys a good diabolical corruption twist and turn, mixed with the mad scientist feels, but to create such a relatable fictional future that is portrayed was easily imaginable. I could picture the technology and unique science. Very creatively done!
And then the characters!! YES! I felt that Sienna was very well rounded in her thinking, personality and actions - I did have a slight irk about how 'grown' her attitude was given the age group of the characters, but still really enjoyed her evolution. Then the side characters, whew. So fun. I felt there was a great blend of personalities that meshed well throughout the story.
Overall, enjoyed Replaced Parts, it was fast paced with multi-dimensional characters, plus great world building that was easily pictured, I cannot wait to continue on with this adventure. Adventure, a bit of suspense, corruptions and lovable characters, plus that cliffhanger, yes please; great start to what I hope to be a great series - see you in book two for sure!!

Replaced Parts is the first in a series of Young Adult sci-fi novels by Stephanie Hansen. In the year 2163, Sierra, a sixteen-year-old budding scientist, discovers the location of her missing father and sets off to find him on Planet Vortex. Her simple goal of bringing him back home leads her into a whirl of corruption, inhumanity, friendship, and discovery.
Ms. Hansen’s world-building is well-done, creating a futuristic image with some unique examples of science and technology. But will cell phones and emails still exist in their present form over a hundred years from now? Her characters are well-developed, although Sierra is an almost overly perfect heroine. Action and suspense are highlights of this story, with several twists and turns along the way. For good measure, there is a nice romantic element. This is an engaging read for sci-fi fans and a good kick-off for the series.
Sublime Line: “Replaced Parts has everything needed for a good young adult sci-fi read: action, adventure, suspense, and romance.”
Are you ready for a new sci fi young adult novel? Author Stephanie Hansen has written a unique story for anyone looking for a new book and series to read. Replaced Parts is set in a dystopian future. Replaced Parts had very interesting world building and the plot was action packed. The characters were very interesting as well. I really liked the science and technology parts of this story. It started with Sierra getting in trouble for releasing lab Koala bears, which hooked me right away into the story.
Overall, Replaced Parts is an action-packed new sci fi young adult novel.

Set in 2163, Hansen’s fast-paced YA takes readers on an exhilarating journey as sixteen-year-old Sierra lands on planet Vortex to look for her missing father and finds herself entrapped into sinister machinations of a madman.
Sierra has always believed her brilliant scientist father abandoned his family to be with another woman. But when she finds the proof of his father taken against his will to another planet, Sierra knows she must leave her home on Earth and look for her father on Vortex.
Hansen’s writing is lush and Sierra’s story unfolds with the breakneck speed of a thriller and fascinating excitement of dystopian fiction. Her far-future world, particularly planet Vortex is richly imagined, full of techno advancements and intrigue, and the relentless high-stake dangers Sierra repeatedly finds herself in lend tension.
The characters are deeply realized and relatable, the narrative swift, and the story’s momentum and pacing never slows down.
Replaced Parts is the first book in Stephanie Hansen's Transformed Nexus series. Sierra is a talented scientist for being sixteen. Her desire to free and help the animal test subjects put her in trouble with her mom and the leaders in her private school. Yesha is Sierra's friend she met online, who helped her fake an application to Planet Vortex Medical Facility. Sierra's wish is that she will find her dad and help him to escape. She doesn't find out until she and Yesha get there that this place plays for keeps
I knew from the first chapter Replaced Parts was going to be an awesome journey. Stephanie Hansen pulls you with a creative plot and vivid imagination. The characters keep you reading as they swing from one dramatic event to imminent danger. Science fiction is one of my favorite topics. I not only think the author presents an intriguing novel, but YA will love it. The preview for the next book looks incredible.
When elements like suspense and romance are assorted with science fiction, then it becomes more enticing. 'Replaced Parts' penned by Stephanie Hansen is a young adult science fiction novel. It is the first part of the series Transformed Nexus. The main protagonist is a girl named Sierra who is living in the future, in the year 2163. She believes her father had betrayed her and her mother for another woman. The story takes a turn when she finds out where her father is. The novel augments her search for her father with her friends on planet Nexus. The rest of the book deals with what happens after that and the events that occur in Sierra's life.
Embedded with twists and turns, Hansen had made every page an asset of suspense. This book is my first reading experience on science fiction mixed with action, adventure, and romance. The author has not disappointed with her first effort at her new series and makes on engaging with the turn of the pages.
"Replaced Parts" marks the start to the "Transformed Nexus" dystopian fantasy series by Stephanie Hansen. The story follows sixteen-year-old Sierra, a relatively self-centered girl who is investing in fighting animal testing against all odds, as her own father disappears, and she embarks into a search to locate him, she discovers that he is being part of a secret group to save human test subjects, abhorred to find out the corrupt ways of the government, she longs to join the fight, well aware of the dangers that that will pose to her family and friends.
This is a well-constructed story, with a full developed and interesting dystopian world, that blends real issues with their dystopian counterparts to create a coherent plot with credible and relatable characters, fast-paced action, and a satisfying overall story.
In the year 2163, 16-year-old Sierra is trying to protect and save animal test subjects. When her mother decides to get rid of the photos of her dad who has been missing for a decade now, Sierra spots a coded handwritten note from her father. It says that Cromwell, permitted by the government to have absolute rule, has taken him to Planet Vortex for scientific study that is illegal on Planet Earth. He will have no way to return. She also learns she has a brother she never knew about. Her future decisions will lead to discoveries of greed and a corrupt and dangerous government.
Sierra sets off for the planet Vortex to find her father who she now knows is trying to save human test subjects. This is a fight she wants to join as well. But it will put the people she cares about in danger. Is there a way to spare them and still follow what she thinks is right?
Replaced Parts by Stephanie Hansen is a great YA science fiction book. The plot is completely unique as there are animal test subjects, the year is 2163, and there is a corrupt government. Crazy and scary stuff but not overwhelming, especially for our lead character Sierra. She is on a mission not only to save and help the animal test subjects, but she is looking for her father who has disappeared. But there is a lot more going on too, there are human test subjects as well, and the whole world is a mess with power struggles and corruption. This is a well-executed book, that will not only appeal to teens but to older readers as well. The pace is fast, the plot is nuanced and involved, and the characters are relatable. Highly recommend it for a great read.
Replaced Parts by Stephanie Hansen is a perfect example of what a great science fiction tale is about. This one is the first instalment in the Transformed Nexus saga and it is so promising that I can’t wait to read the following ones. The setting is futuristic, but the author has done an amazing job mingling actions that take place in 2163 with something that is in vogue nowadays, such as saving animals, and a dramatic life event that the main protagonist has to undergo: her father’s disappearance. The narrative is intended for young adults and its language and sequences of events are simple and easy to follow. I loved this tale and the way the author has been able to mix different themes and topics!
Sixteen-year-old Sierra embarks on a dangerous and challenging adventure across the galaxy to save her family and everyone. “Replaced Parts” is a fascinating young adult science fiction novel written by Stephanie Hansen. This is book one in the series “Transformed Nexus” so hopefully we are going to get more of this excellent author. The story appeals directly to sci-fi and fantasy lovers and it is addressed to teenagers. However, I must say that it is excellently written and that, I am sure, adults will enjoy it as much as I did. The plot is original and it resonates with some unsettling descriptions of events regarding corruption and government control. These add credibility to the story and they make it more compelling and thrilling.
Sierra is not your typical 16-year-old. She is a staunch believer in rights, whether human or animal and will do almost anything to defend them. On her way to the planet Nexus in search of her Father, Sierra and her friend Yesha find out that not everything is as it seems. A fast-paced young adult Sci-Fi novel that is well written and well defined. I liked Sierra, she was mature and determined in pursuit of her goals and even when she receives shattering news regarding her own families, she still does what she believes is right. I liked the plot and the undercurrent of danger that ran throughout the book. Great Book!
My review of REPLACED PARTS is simple. I enjoyed it. Thoroughly. From beginning to end, the book kept me not just interested, but eager to read more. Stephanie Hansen did a great job with pacing, characters, and world-building. I especially loved how she built her futuristic world without the massive information dumps sometimes common in sci-fi and fantasy.
And, the audiobook readers, Jesse Villnsky and Ramon De Ocampo, were exceptional, too. If you’re wavering over getting the audiobook, do it. I couldn’t quit listening.
This is the 2nd book I've read written by Stephanie Hansen; I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the first book in the Transformed Nexus Series; she has written a good sci-fi book. Sierra is searching for her missing father when she realizes how much control the government has over everything; when she finds out where he is she discovers that he is working to save the humans.
I received a free copy of this book via booksprout and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
Okay the author had me hooked in chapter one with the talking koalas 🐨! No seriously, this book was brilliant! I was entertained from page 1 until the very end. I could easily imagine everything as it was happening. I did listen to the audiobook while following along and the narrators did a great job! I loved it!
Really enjoyed this book. The writing was excellent and I loved the imagination used in the future advances described in the book. I read a lot of historical fiction so this was a fun change up to read about the future (set in 2163).
I really enjoyed this story. It was an intriguing YA science fiction story that was full of cool futuristic technology sprinkled throughout. Definitely recommend for fans of YA science fiction!
Sierra is a 16-year-old girl in the year 2163. Life seems amazing with all of the new technology compared to our own world in 2021 but even Sierra has her problems. Years ago, her dad went missing. It’s believed that he ran off with another woman but Sierra still has hope that maybe it isn’t true. Her mother, however, is a different story. But when Sierra finds a note hidden away (that her mother must have known about) from her father that mentions he is away on another planet Sierra is confused. I won’t say what else the father is doing because it seemed like a big “What?!” moment for Sierra. The book follows her adventure to find her father, overcome obstacles, and go against enemies that are much darker, eviler than she could ever imagine. I don’t want to give away too much information because truly, this book is a good read.
I really liked that the book had people of different abilities (her friend is deaf) and there are names that aren’t “typical” character names either. I really think this is a great YA book and really fascinating beginning to a sci-fi series.
The Author Stephanie Hansen gives such vivid detail and has a great imagination that will especially entice sci-fi enthusiasts. In the first few chapters I thought of how much I wanted Sierra’s kitchen. The book isn’t too long either so its great for a weekend or road trip drive.
Reading the title, I thought I was going to be reading a story about robots or AI with some human element. What I got was a story full of intrigue and a young girl, Sierra, trying to deal with life. Her dad goes missing and she is trying to save animals from becoming test subjects. Eventually, she ends up finding her dad only to discover he has been busy with his own load of saving. This empowers her to do more while also discovering just how corrupt the world really is. I found this to be a sort of coming-of-age novel. I loved Sierra and how she learns to handle certain aspects of a situation. Her viewpoint is not narrowed down to animals, but now the lives of humans are at stake and she wants to protect not just friends and family, but everyone. I cannot wait for the next book in the series! I want to see where Sierra goes next and what she will do. Great read!
What an adventure! Too much to love - here are the highlights: 1. Sign language - loved how it was incorporated 2. Romance - it didn’t defer from the plot or mission too much and was tastefully put in 3. Descriptions - every new setting was beautifully described and well thought out 4. The ending had me on the edge of my seat - excited for the sequel!!! 5. Every character had something worth fighting for. I would recommend this book for all ages - the language is clean so young teens can enjoy as well. There’s also a dual POV, though I did prefer Sierra’s sections more because of the flying scenes.
As a sci-fi genre lover, I was very happy when I started reading this great book. Replaced Parts: A Young Adult Sci-Fi Novel is the story of a smart girl, called Sierra, who does everything she has in her power to rescue her beloved father.
Stephanie Hansen is the distinguished author of this incredible story, that is well-written and unforgettable. I think that the world-building of this story is superb and the character development is fantastic, as I felt like I ride along this journey as though I was right beside them.
I believe that the idea behind this series is so fine, so good and wonderful, that any sci-fi lover should read it. I highly recommend it!
Being the first book in the Transformed Nexus series, "Replaced Parts" is a Science Fiction novel written by Stephanie Hansen. In it, the author introduces us to Sierra, a ten-year-old pre-adolescent, who, with her best friend, embarks on a covert interplanetary mission to rescue her father. Can this young girl rescue her father and thus be able to make a deal with the mad scientist Cromwell to try to save everyone? In general terms I liked this story. In my opinion, I think it has moments of action and romance in equal parts, and that makes it a balanced novel. The characters are well described. I think some of the descriptions of the scenes are very long. Apart from that, I think it is an interesting book.
Sierra is a very smart woman trying to free animals and people from the devil's hands of mad scientist Cromwell who is using them as subjects for testing. While protecting them, she is also in the search of her father who has disappeared. She will embark in an action-packed mission.
"Replaced Parts” is book one in the “Transformed Nexus” series by author Stephanie Hansen. The author created a unique futuristic world but it is funny because some things such as corruption haven't changed.
To sum up, I think this sci-fi book has a lot to offer and I’ll be looking forward to reading the rest of the series.
I have to say that this is a great read. The story is imaginative, clever, interesting and captivating. I even feel somewhat excited to realize that the plot is much better written than a lot of the young science fiction works available today. I enjoyed it immensely. Stephanie Hansen develops the characters in such a talented and sublime way that it kept me glued to the pages of this masterpiece until the end. I have only one complaint about it. It would have been better if the author had included more dialogues. Anyway, it is just my opinion and nothing too heavy to put the book down. This addictive, superb and enjoyable book was a great addition to my collection. I am very glad I bought it and I unquestionably recommend it.
A sci-fi thriller for young adults that will take them to far away planets with action, suspense and nothing is as it seems.
It’s the year 2163 and our world and government are more corrupt than ever. Not only here on Earth, but their control reaches to other planets as well. Sixteen-year-old Sierra is on a mission to save animal test subjects and help those she can. Her father disappeared years ago and when she discovers clues as to where he is, she knows she has to go try to find him and bring him home. Together with a friend she has never met in real life, only online, she takes off on an interplanetary mission to bring him home. Once she gets there, she discovers her father is secretly trying to save the human test subjects and stop the mad scientist, Cromwell. Sierra must decide if her original mission of bringing her dad home is worth abandoning the ones he has been trying to help or if she now needs to join his cause.
If you are a fan of Science Fiction and dystopian novels, this is definitely one you need to put on your list to read. If you are like me and that is not the normal genre that you like to read, it might be a little difficult for you to get through. I enjoyed most of the book, a few parts went over my head as it is not the normal kind of book I pick up to read, but overall it was enjoyable. The writing is well done for a sci-fi thriller, lots of different lingo and words that coincide with a book set in the future and on another planet, and characters that are very different from the kinds of people we would expect to see in a book set in modern times and here on earth. All those points make it what it is intended, a good sci-fi read, they also make it hard from someone that is not used to reading in that genre to follow. But like I said, it is well written for the intended audience. I picked this one up looking for a good YA read, for me though I just had trouble getting into the story and connecting with the characters enough to really enjoy the story as much as I could have. This is the first in a series and I see it being one that I recommend to sci-fi lovers.
I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.
Replaced Parts is the first book in the planned Transformed Nexus series and is set in the year 2163. The main character in the story is teenage Sierra and she is determined to find out more about her father's mysterious disappearance. What begins to follow is a minefield of corruption and secrecy that takes the girl on a journey that requires more strength than she knew she had. I thought the presentation of the teenage lead was accurately represented and the author's dedication to providing the most realistic vision for the futuristic world possible was exceptionally well done. Though the story definitely has some sci-fi/fantasy feel to it, I felt as though it was a very possible prediction, obviously with a bit of flare. This was a great read and one that I would recommend to any reader who enjoys a futuristic novel with adventure and a double plot.
