A great intro to the series. Macs first day on the job and the reluctant Ian is assigned as her bodyguard. Very enjoyable short story. I’ve re-read this story, and the rest of the series a number of times, re-reading as book 7 is about to come out. There’s a bit of sexual tension in this book but no Insta love/lust except for spells which is great.

I love Lisa Shearin's SPI files. I've read and listened to every one of them, 7 but it was nice to return to the beginning stories that made Mac a star. This little novella is Mac's first day at SPI. If everyone had a first day like hers, they'd probably never come back. Mac has a sense of humor that one cannot help but laugh at because she is so honest. This novella introduces nearly ALL of the recurring characters and is so much fun it's dangerous.

This was surprisingly a very entertaining read for a prequel. I enjoyed every second of it. Don’t think anyone can say no to trying the series after this. Additionally, as it would appear to make sense starting the second book of the series, Rake is featured in this book along with Mac and Ian. So you just have to hold on a bit for romance to feature in the series until then.

Series prequel. Audio read in a southern accent and I suggest you read the first regular book.

Seer Makenna Frazier's first day on the job at SPI. SPI formed after a massive influx of numerous kinds of supernaturals into the human world trying to keep interactions under control. Makenna’s job is to identify the sups for the enforcers.

Love Makenna. This is fun but fast paced.

This is for the Mila Vane story (The Beast of Blackmoor) alone. The other stories in this collection are recorded elsewhere.

A pleasant surprise by a new author - well, new to me. I’ll be looking her up again to continue on with her SPI series.
