Mateo Caputo just took the spot of my favorite mafia man in The Unseen Underground series.
I was captivated at the prologue because 16 year old Mateo seared my soul with the love and commitment he had to his younger sibling. He had a hard exterior formed from the childhood he had and the life he lived to be able to take care of his siblings, and I loved every side of him. The soft side that was reserved for his siblings, and the hard exterior that made him one of my new favorite mafia men.
Luna was sassy and determined, she was set on making sure she had a better life than what she grew up around. She also had an admirable inner strength, she could have so easily continued the cycle of substance abuse as that is what happens when kids grow up in that type of environment, and I know from experience, although not to the extent they dealt with, and I am also the same as Luna on her view of never touching those things is the only way to be certain you will never become an addict.
One moment was all it took for a flicker of the chemistry that starts between Mateo and Luna. A short time of not seeing one another does nothing to extinguish that flicker, and the curiosity they have for one another seems to make it that much more intense.
Mateo and Luna’s story was entrancing, once I started there was no chance of stopping until I absorbed every word. Mateo and Luna’s chemistry was intoxicating, the storyline was the perfect blend of intriguing, a bit of suspense, witty banter, feels, and steam.
I’m excited to see what happens next in this series.
