Blackmailed. Forced to leave everything I ever knew and wanted all because I loved too much. Everything changed with my brother's death, and now I'm back where I belong. Seventeen years ago I left a whole life behind. I wanted him then and I still want him now. Only it’s not that simple, time has made everything complicated.
*Warning* contains mature content suitable for adults 18+, and an extremely taboo storyline. MM Previously published in A Family Affair Anthology as Intimate Relations

Esperaba más detalles de las situaciones, como porque murió su hermano? Como? que le pasó? Al menos, pero nada de esto es nombrado🤷🏻♀️, igual es un libro de 50 páginas pero una explicación de un párrafo bastaba
I feel like there could have been a better time to tell him yall were related. balls deep, like ..."You’re mine"..…no really...YOU'RE...my kid...😬 I'm all for taboo, but I prefer them to know what they're getting into. Also...why make him 17? 💩
This book is a short taboo story about an incestous romance between a father and a son. It was okay....not too special but not bad either. Kept me hooked and had some hot scenes(if you can get out of the 'incest' mindset lol). The ending was pretty abrupt just for the sake of the HEA, tbh. There were just too many variables for that climax to be satisfactory.
This story was initially part of an anthology. I actively avoid anthologies because the stories are always too short and I don’t always like all the authors involved. But I’ve read and enjoyed a few other novellas by Ally Vance so I thought I’d give this a try.
First of all, I love me some taboo! I’m surprised this hasn’t been taken down by the policing patrol at Amazon yet. I grabbed it in KU. My opinion is that nothing should be pulled because you should police what books you read yourself. If it’s labeled as taboo and you don’t like that…walk away. There are plenty of other books out there. But I digress.
This story involves Emmett, who is 36, and Kade, who is “about 17”. Emmett is Kade’s , but Kade doesn’t know that. I hid that in a spoiler, but I’m not sure it really is one since it’s revealed in the prologue and would probably be in the sample if you downloaded one. The page count on Amazon says this is 117 pages, but it barely hits 50. That was disappointing. I felt like there could have been so much more development in the story. But it was hot, and terribly deliciously taboo. 😈 So if you’re looking for a short read, and like taboo, you might enjoy this. Just don’t look for much character development because it’s too short. I give it 3.5 stars because I wanted more.
Uhhhh…. What the fresh hell was that? The plot? The whirlwind of events that happened in like 50 pages? Entertaining short and taboo as fuck MM. 4/5⭐️ 2/5🌶🔥
Yes yes yes!!! This story was originally published in A Family Affair Anthology and I didn’t get to read it since it was limited time only. Soooo sad about that. But thank you Ally freaking Vance for putting this up on Amazon for us to read.
I’m all about those taboo reads and add in some MM action too? Yes please. This was about 36 year old Emmett who just learned his brother died. As he’s attending the funeral, he lays eyes on his brother’s 17 year old son, Kade. That in itself would be taboo already buuuut there is more to the story. I felt pretty bad for Emmett after I heard the backstory about how he was betrayed by his brother and girlfriend at the time. Poor guy, shamed and chased out of town for who he loved. 😢
I didn’t like how Emmett fucked Kade for the first time and I sort of missed all the fluffy feelings that I sometimes like to read about between the characters. It was there somewhat but I felt like I wanted more... but I still enjoyed it anyway. Still definitely worth picking this up if you absolutely love that family lovin’ taboo like I do!!
Anthologies have a tendency to leave quickly, and if you missed the ‘Family Affair Anthology’ like I did you’ll want to read this story.
It’s taboo, forbidden, unbridled love. It explores what happens when a bond was never formed between family and an attraction stronger than blood takes over.
It’s a stark reminder that you cannot control what the heart wants, you can only lean into it and enjoy life to the fullest.
I originally read this as Intimate Relations, from the anthology A Family Affair. I gave it 4 stars then, and after this re-read, still got the same feels.
Emmett and Kade are introduced after a death in the family, and Emmett will do anything to keep him in his life. Though it's a short story, I still felt like it was complete, and that it did a great job of filling in the blanks of the past, which played a large part in their tale. It was wrapped up nicely, but I could have easily read more of them.
I love this kind of sick stories, and this one definitely it's one. I really liked Ally Vance's writing style, so I'd like to read more from her in the future. But because I enjoyed it, doesn't mean I recommend it, at least, not to everyone. If incest it's no-no for you, don't even try this book.
2.5 The taboo here was difficult for me as a real connection failed to show. I know it was there cause the characters told us that. But it didn’t really feel like it… and with this level of taboo I personally need more redeeming traits where this just felt like a revenge plot at times..
Wow! This is a wonderfully intense short taboo story. It's definitely not going to appeal to everyone but I loved every word of it. There was a lot of angst and emotion put into such a short read and the author certainly has a way of expressing what's between the lines as clearly as what's actually said. My heart broke a little for both Emmett and Kade. They both suffered, primarily because of Kade's mother, and it certainly played a large part in what drew them together, despite their biological bond. There's a little dub con and maybe a little Stockholm Syndrome but it's not so much as to overshadow the emotional connection between the MCs. It's not for the overly sensitive but I was absolutely hooked through the whole thing.
Was an enjoyable taboo read. Emmett was blackmailed into abandoning his family and everyone he loved, when his brother dies he comes back and is drawn to his brother’s 17 year old son, which is really his biological son. He keeps an eye on him, but when he notices signs of abuse, he snatches him and a taboo and dirty affair starts. If you don’t like cest, if you don’t like kidnapping and dub con, and minor/adult, this isn’t for you. The writing style is ultimately what I didn’t care for in the book, so it got a 3 star instead of 4. And I’m honestly surprised this is currently on the zon, so if it sounds like your type of story, I’d read it before it gets removed cause it’s bound to happen.
Very short, taboo read. Emmett shows up at his brother’s funeral after being blackmailed and shunned from their lives to finally see a boy, he’s known to be his son, Kade. Kade is 17 and just lost his father. Emmett gives him his number to reach out to him but Kades mother tears the paper but Emmett has been keeping his eye on Kade the entire time. He kidnaps him, they end up hooking up then Emmett confesses that he is his dad’s brother and was blackmailed for wanting to sleep with his brother and Kades mother. Turns out Emmett is Kades bio dad and they don’t care enough to stop loving each other.
This book contains material of a taboo nature. It tells the story of father and son, Emmett and Kade.
It is not a bad book, the premise of the story is good. What gets in the way is the small number of pages for a topic so complicated that it seemed too shallow and rushed. I think that if the author had further constructed the storyline of forbidden love, the relationship of lust and love between father and son would have a higher rating. But... If you want a twisted reading but without much depth and too much heat In Our Blood is a good choice
I couldn’t get over all the secrets and lies Emmett kept from Kade until after they hooked up. It just felt extra wrong given the circumstances. Not to mention he groped him when Kade was asleep before they had any kind of relationship. Emmett just seemed skeezy, and with how short this was it didn’t allow for any redeeming qualities to be shown later. Plus with all the history with Preston and Ellis, the connection he had with Kade didn’t feel genuine. It felt like an odd replacement.
Just okay. I had several issues with how the taboo aspect was handled with this short read. I’d say it honestly feels alternately tacked-on as if it’s a sidebar or as the entire impetus for the whole piece which is not a healthy balance in my estimate. I didn’t particularly feel anything for either leading man. I honestly don’t feel there was enough character development to become attached or not to either guy. It has some decent sexy scenes, solid grammar/technical writing, and ends on a solid note.
I’ve read books with this dynamic before, and enjoy them but this book felt like it was lacking a lot and felt like it was rushed. I understand it’s a novella so of course it’s not long. But it felt like Kade was kidnapped by his Emmet couple days later it’s oh I’m falling in love with you after you chased me in the woods and took my v card and confessed you’re my bio dad? I don’t know if it was longer there would have been more time for an actual relationship to develop between the two. Just felt like a lot was lacking Not my vibe.
Update: I’ve had time to think about this book more and I still feel the same. I had higher hopes.

Wow! Ally never disappoints when she writes her stories. They’re always steamy with a lot of omg’s and wtf’s. But that’s good because it leaves us readers always wanting more.
In Our Blood is about Emmet and Kade and the first sight to each other. Emmet has a strong bond towards Kade and feelings but that maybe a little wrong because he shouldn’t be having those feelings with someone so familiar.
So, while I am a big fan of taboo books, I’m not really a fan of the whole 17 year old deal. I know age of consent can vary state to state in the US, the typical age is 18. Why the author didn’t just bump it up a year, I’ll never know. It was taboo enough to start with, we didn’t need the extra.
Two stars for some yummy steam, but that’s about it. Emmett was off the rails before he even really laid eyes on Kade.
As far as taboo stories go, I enjoyed it. There were a couple of things I wasn’t too fond of so I lowered the rating. At Emmett’s brother’s funeral, he sees a young man with the widow. While Emmett’s never seen him before, he knows exactly who he is; Kade, his son.
Emmett stalks Kade for a while and when he’s seen enough of the neglectful actions of his mother, Emmett kidnaps Kade and takes him to a remote cabin in the woods.
This short story has Stockholm syndrome, ‘cest, 17 year old MC, and dubcon
"Emmett draws me to him like a moth to a flame, and I’m wondering how deeply I’ll be burned by his touch."
The writing was well done. The concept? Well...
"We’re closer than regular couples because we have a bond that runs deeper than anything they could ever experience or share. It’s in our blood."
Father and son...like what? I'm all for taboo romances but this? I enjoyed the relationship building with Kade and Emmett but man father and son. The bond Emmett has with his blood is next level.
I got what I came for, a straight on car crash of emotions. Yeah, Emmett's got some twists. Huge ones. And yes, Kade is his son, though at first the kid hasn't a clue. But...it's still a story with a vein of sweetness. Come for the wrong, stay for the right. Enjoy!
So this is part of A family affair anthology by Yoland Olson which I already read, why in A family Affair Anthology this book is titled Intimate relations but here In our blood, I was confused at first lol. But anyway it's an okay read, the sex is hot I just don't like how Emmett does such things like that.
I’m not really sure where to rate this book. I don’t have an issue with the cesty part. I kinda do with the age. Age of consent is probably legal, and it’s fiction. But groping while the kid was unconscious before they entered into a relationship is just scummy. everything I'm saying is absurd. I'm leaving now.
This was a quick little read about an incestuous relationship between a father and a son. There were hot scenes, but the story was a little far fetched. Kade was really easy going about the whole thing. And it ended pretty abruptly. They could have thrown another scene in there but that's ok. It was a good read.
So I loved that this was an actual taboo story, with it being father/son. I hate when a book is labeled as taboo and it really isn't. Or maybe I'm just really messed up and my definition is off lol. But this was an ok short story. I would have enjoyed it more if it had been longer and more fleshed out. But it was a good, taboo, hot story.
Emmet & Kade their story is deliciously dark and depraved just what you would expect from Ms Vance. Just wish it had been longer as now I’m wondering how they are getting on does anyone else do that or is it just me.
