Jack “Gorilla” Grant, retired assassin and former spy, is living a new life as a peaceful, successful businessman. But when his daughter is kidnapped in Rome, it is just the opening gambit in a series of events that pushes him back into the “Redaction” business that he once walked away from.
Unseen forces are moving against Gorilla and dangerous enemies from his past are threatening his future, intent on turning a cold war into a hot war. But Gorilla has one rule; don’t mess with my family. And he’s willing to kill to enforce it.
From the dangerous streets of 1960’s Berlin to a hit contract in Austria, and finally to a race against time in East Germany, Berlin Reload is an epic cold war spy story that spans the rise and fall of the Berlin Wall, and throws James Quinn’s anti-hero Gorilla Grant into a mission where he may have to decide between the life of his daughter and the dawning of a new conflict between East and West.

From the first to last page, the story holds your interest. It gives an insight into the shadowy and dangerous life of spies that could end up in death or even worse. Without a doubt, this is the kind of book to make you want to turn the pages to find out what happens next. For those that love thrillers, this book is for you.
This book was so freaking good...top 5 all-time spy thriller for me. James Quinn writes like he's been there, done that...Book 4 in the Gorilla Grant series and he hit for the cycle(baseball term). So, that's all I'm gonna say, but start at the beginning and enjoy the amazing ride. Highly recommend!! Thanks James for the old school spy adventure.
Berlin Reload by James Quinn is a Cold War espionage thriller. The fourth book in The Redaction Chronicles. I was lucky enough to be able to read every book in the series and would advise you to do the same if you fancy this one. This is due to it being the book that ties everything from the series together. We are back with Jack 'Gorilla' Grant now retired from being an assassin and also a former spy. He has his brand new life living as a peaceful and successful businessman. His daughter is kidnapped in Rome and that is the beginning of a very slippery slope. One that gets him back into the 'Redaction' business he left behind. Gorilla can usually bend with the rules but when it is his family being played around with he is willing to kill if he has to, to enforce that rule. There are unseen forces moving against him and enemies from his past are intent on making their mark on his future. Gorilla is intent on making his own mark on anyone who is involved with his daughters kidnapping. A spy thriller that I was so immersed in. It did help I had read the books consecutively so I finished one and stayed in Gorilla's world. This story takes us all back in time to thr 1960s and the era of East and West Germany and the building of the Wall. We experience the enormous changes both sides of Germany went through back then. We see Gorilla bring thrown into a mission that may see him needing to chose...his daughter or another conflict between East and West. As the story unfolds the true back story of Jack 'Gorilla' Grant is revealed in the most thrilling and exciting way to keep us wanting more. I found Gorilla a difficult character to understand. This makes him almost an enigma and James Quinn has showcased his writing skills with his characters, primarily Gorilla. He has hidden depths and this book we find out everything. A compelling and scintillating read that has the power to keep you in your seat and turning the pages far too long. After I finished this series I felt like I was leaving old friends! Sad that it is the last one but very happy I discovered James Quinn. Thanks to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours for inviting me onto the tour and James Quinn for the copy of the books.
This is the finale of the Gorilla Grant series, a series that kept me enthralled over the last couple weeks. There were moments that gave me chills and had me feeling every which way while I quickly consumed these books. I will miss the stories of Jack Grant and appreciate the work that James Quinn put into this series.
