Yes, this murder happened at the family farm. And yes, it interrupted one of the busiest seasons Miss May’s had in years. The Thomas Family Fruit and Fir Farm has introduced strawberries for the first time and Miss May and Chelsea have their hands full with their inaugural strawberry festival. They agree to carve out a bit of time to speak to a journalist, Norton River. At first Chelsea is awed by the big media journalist but when he insults Miss May's baked goods and the farm and then he has the audacity to accuse Miss May and Chelsea of murdering people just to "solve" the crime in order to get attention. While Miss May laughs off the accusation, Chelsea is worried. Surely they won't ever come across any more bodies on the farm right? Unfortunately the next body they come across happens to be Norton River himself. Chelsea wants the police to solve this one but when Wayne is unable to help them this time, it's up to Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny to solve another murder on their own.
This one was a bit of a dud. The best part was Miss May's baking. Her strawberry shortcake loaf sounds AMAZING! I want to try it right now! I need a recipe. I agree with Chelsea, farm strawberries are a billion times better than the grocery store variety. I love "pick your own" farms when the strawberries are warm from the sun. Anyway, that digression tells you how much I enjoyed this novel. The cast of new characters is limited so either the murderer is someone we already know and like or it's a new character. I had forgotten about the new characters after the entire rest of the book was spent chasing red herrings. I noted a few editing errors. I thought See-Saw was a male horse. That one doesn't matter but it's egregious to have Chelsea say that the Thomases have been in Kentucky for a thousand years. Um how'd they get to Kentucky? I thought they were from New York and the Thomas Family Fruit and Fir Farm is a family farm for generations? I'm assuming Wayne's mother is Italian or his father's family changed their family name? I never got an Italian vibe from him at all. I didn't care for how characters of color were described by their race or ethnicity. "An Asian man" doesn't tell me anything. We've moved beyond that in the last year so please get more inventive. "A couple speaking Spanish with a small child" would be slightly better. "A short man with dark hair and glasses", "a woman with curly black hair" even slightly better still. Use your words people. Come on. You would think since Chelsea and Matt lived in LA and live in New York they'd be more aware of these things by now. They're young enough to know better.
Norton River was not a nice man. He was arrogant, egotistical, rude and seemed to get away with everything but actual murder. I don't even know how he came up with his wild theory because there were WITNESSES to the killers' confessions in some of the books. Wayne was even there with his cuffs at the ready in one instance. Norton jumped ship from CNN to a less reputable news source so clearly he was only in journalism for the money and the ego. His sensational stories get him attention and this is a man who clearly craves attention. I also don't know why kind of baked goods he expected to see on a farm! He's even rude to the milkshake food truck lady, Regina. Regina Ewing, Patrick's sister, makes fancy milkshakes in unusual flavors like white chocolate lavender. When Norton insults her shakes, Regina yells at him. The police find evidence that points to Regina being the killer. Chelsea isn't so sure. It seems like she could be but her reaction to jail either means she is upset she got caught and can't face jail time or she's innocent. I lean towards innocent.
One of the few new characters is Jeff, Regina's assistant. I agree with him that peanut better is delicious and belongs in a milkshake. It's way yummier than lavender. Gross. I don't get the "weirdo" creepy vibe the other characters get from Jeff. He most likely has special needs and can't control his outbursts or his behavior. I will be furious if he's the killer! Way to stereotype people who are a bit off center. One other suspect is a woman, Kelly Franklin, who was seen speaking to Norton and becoming upset when he didn't recognize her. There was some drama there and she was rude about demanding another berry basket for free. I don't think she's a pleasant woman. She could be the killer but she drops out of the story after the incident. The same goes for Norton's son. He's mention once and then dropped until late in the book. I definitely pegged the son for a murderer. Having a dad like River would be horrible and toxic. The only other suspect is Patrick of Ewing's Eats. He may be Teeny's rival for best restaurant in Pine Grove but he's always seemed like a nice guy - very chill. Here we get to know him better. He's protective of his sister and came up with a bizarre way to get back at a bully on her behalf. I don't want him to be the murderer but it doesn't look good.
As always the locals are amusing and provide lots of charm, especially Tom Gigley. However, I didn't enjoy the romantic drama. I didn't realize Chelsea and Wayne had gotten so close they can go on vacation to a foreign country together! He moves fast! Chelsea is the responsible one in this relationship. She won't go without solving the murder first. I liked Germany better even though he was very odd. I think Chelsea needs to be single again for awhile and meet someone new.
This was the first one in the series I didn't like. The mystery was good. However, I didn't like the way Chelsea acted. She really came across as someone who truly believes without her that the town would crumble. She also handled things with her boyfriend and friends badly too. Luckily the mystery was solved and she worked everything out with everyone. I just hope the next book Chelsea is more likable.
It’s summer in Pine Grove and the orchard is venturing into strawberry sales. Guests are invited to pick their own berries and enjoy a variety of treats available for sale, including gourmet ice cream. A famous newspaper writer is in town to write a story about the orchard festivities. Little do Miss May and Chelsea know, he has an ulterior motive and he plans to expose the women and their friend Teeny as murderers.
Soon after the weekend kicks off a body is discovered near the strawberry fields and the amateur sleuths take it upon themselves to find the killer. The problem is the suspect list is unbelievably long.
This series is very enjoyable. I look forward to each new book. The characters are kooky which is part of what interests me. I recommend this book and look forward to the next.
This is book thirteen of the Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery series and the team of amateur sleuths, Chelsea, her aunt Miss May and their friend Teeny, are yet again stuck right in the middle of a murder case. The farm and apple orchard were holding a very successful strawberry fair and had even booked out all of their little cabins on the farm to paying customers. Miss May had made up some lovely new recipes, all with strawberries as the main part of them, including some strawberry shortbread. People could come and pay for a basket and then go out to pick their own strawberries. They are busier than ever and have a famous reporter coming to do an interview with them. What they don’t realise is how awful he is in person, putting down all their products and lovely bakes as being boring and being very critical of their business. He also has another reason for wanting to interview them and it isn’t a good one! Later in the afternoon, when Chelsea and her dog find his body, the suspicion is on them immediately! Chelsea’s now boyfriend, Detective Wayne Hudson is sent to investigate, but his boss Sunshine is soon on his back for results. There were crowds of middle aged women at the farm, hoping to get a picture with the famous reporter, but he was very short with most and ignored others who supposedly knew him from his teaching days. Added to this are all the other businesses that he has ruined or given a bad review of. The farm is packed and soon gets over run with people interested in their famous visitor and then the scandal of his sudden death! The three women have a huge problem on their hands, with a case occurring on one of their busiest times ever, on the edges of the farm itself and with far too many suspects and people that hate the victim. Chelsea is worried that another dead body will happen anytime soon and that Wayne is being a bit off with her. Normally the women, especially Chelsea, have used Wayne’s closeness to the case to find out what the police have found so far in a case, but this time he won’t tell her anything and warns them all to stay off the investigating this time! Not that any such comment ever stops them from carrying out their own investigation. They have to work hard to find out if it is a Pine Grove resident behind the killing, or a stranger drawn to their town by the victim. This one will lead to a very dangerous conclusion for all involved. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are at it again! When Miss May added strawberries to the apple and peach orchard it opened up a whole new season for Miss May and Chelsea. Miss May and Chelsea hosted a Strawberry Festival. They were even so excited that a well known journalist, Norton River, with a following was coming to interview them. But, this is where things start to go downhill. He was there to prove that all the murders that were solved in the past by Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny were really done by them and hidden to make it look like others were responsible and the women actually killed them all themselves to get notoriety. What an odious man! When he is found murdered in the strawberry patch, it is up to the three women to find who murdered Norton River. With so many suspects since it seems he was hated more than the was liked by almost everyone, this was going to be one of the ladies' hardest cases to solve. Every lead they have turns south. How can they solve this one? And how is Chelsea's boyfriend, detective hotty, Wayne involved? This is another fantastic addition to a fun series that keeps you laughing all the way. Teeny is her normal misnomer self. This is a must read book in a great must read series! I received an ARC but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.
Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are at it again. Miss May has added strawberries to the orchard this year and is hosting a strawberry festival. A well known journalist is coming to feature the orchard in an article or at least that what they think he's doing. Instead he accuses them of committing the murders they've been solving and vows to prove their guilt. Turns out he's an equal opportunity insulter as he alienates everyone he meets. When he turns up dead in the strawberry patch there are plenty of suspects! The girls have their hands full trying to solve this murder and it quickly turns into even more. Can they solve the mystery before even more are killed? It's always a lot of fun trying to work out these mysteries and following along with the banter of Teeny and Chelsea. Good mystery with lots of red herrings and laughs. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Deciding to expand the business, their first ever strawberry festival is underway when a nasty journalist, Norton River, is found dead in the strawberry patch. Fortunately, Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are ready to pounce on the case. But there are so many suspects with such an unpopular victim. Will they be able to find the murderer this time?
This is always such a fun series with good friends that never let the reader down. The clever title of each mystery gets me laughing for the first 5 minutes before I can begin reading! The characters are charming, fearless, and a delight to see in action as they relentlessly seek justice, usually for their friends who wrongfully get implicated, but this time the murder is closer to home right there in their strawberry patch! Grab your copy and enjoy their pursuit as you try to figure out the clues before the team catches the bad guy! With this many suspects, this one could keep you pretty busy looking for clues!
Norton River highly rated journalist and TV presenter..
.. appears at the farm as the Strawberry Festival gets underway. Miss May is under the impression he's going to write a piece about the festival but he soon makes he true purpose clear.. he's come up with a theory that Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny are actually prolific murders who have themselves committed all the murders in Pine Grove and what's more he believes that they aren't amateur sleuths but instead deliberately set up the supposed guilty parties to take the fall.
The ladies are astonished. Even more so when Norton declares he's not going to rest until he finds the proof! So when he turns up dead in the strawberry patch whatever can they do? If anyone finds out what Norton was working on it would move our trio to the top of the list of suspects.. or would it? As they dig they discover the real Norton and he had a heck of a lot of enemies..
“Strawberry Short Dead” book 13 in the ”Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery” series by Chelsea Thomas. I love spending time in Pine Grove, NY. with Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny! I really enjoyed this story, I like how Chelsea and Wayne are finally dating and can’t wait to see their journey. Teeny is still a hoot, You never know what she will come up with or say next.
The mystery has plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. I continue to enjoy this cozy mystery series. I find them to be entertaining and the plot moves at a steady pace that keeps you engaged.
I can’t wait for the next instalment!
I highly recommend this book/series. It can easily stand alone but I recommend you read the series from the beginning.

Miss May and Chelsea have added strawberries to the Thomas Family Fruit and Fir Farm. They kick the season off with a Strawberry Festival, little did they know that the "Strawberry Stabber" would come also. Norton River, a famous journalist is at the farm. He has accused Miss May and Chelsea of committing murders just so they can solve them! How ridiculous is that?! Has this pompous, conceited guy lost his mind?! Then Chelsea comes across his dead body in the strawberry patch. Oh my! Things aren't looking too good for Miss May and Chelsea on this one! Just when they think they have a good lead on the possible murderer it fizzles out. Could this one be the one case they can not solve? I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Strawberry Short-dead is the 13th book in the Apple Orchard Cozy series by Chelsea Thomas.
Chelsea and Miss May now have strawberries at the farm and are hosting their first Strawberry festival.
What would an event in Pine Grove be without Chelsea finding a body? The victim was a very unpleasant, disliked person so there are plenty of suspects. This investigation was a difficult one for Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny. I haven’t caught up on the whole series yet, but this is the most challenging case I’ve seen the ladies involved in.
I find this series very entertaining and it is fun to see what Miss May and Teeny will talk Chelsea into.

It may just be my imagination, but the last few books in this series have been getting better. The characters are better developed and the storylines are more intricate and engaging.
In this latest installment Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny investigate the murder of Norton River a famous journalist who came out to the orchard to interview them. It seems River is a mean, petty critic of practically everyone he has met so the murder suspect pool is huge. The ladies have their hands full and have to find the killer because the bodies are piling up fast.

I received an ARC copy of this book for an honest review. Well the apple orchard is branching out into strawberry picking, and strawberry goodies at the bake shop. So at the start of the strawberry festival, a famous press reporter Norton, who was doing a piece on the Three Musketeers, is found dead, murdered in the strawberry field. So it's up to the Three Musketeers to solve the case and restore order back to Pine Grove. Obviously there are plenty of twists and turns and false leads. That's what make this book so good, it keeps you guessing until the very end of the book. This is definitely a book I'd recommend
In the latest Apple Orchard Cozy Mystery Chelsea, Miss May, and Teeny seem to be up against one of their most elusive murderers yet. After successfully branching out into u-pick fresh strawberries, the first ever strawberry festival is marred by the untimely murder of a biased journalist. Many of the clues seem to lead back to local townspeople, even the hunk Detective Hudson. Another great read with just enough hilarity to keep you laughing and clues to keep you guessing. Join the 3 amateur sleuths as they dish up another exciting adventure.

The Thomas Fruit and Fir Farm has added strawberries! Their first annual strawberry fest ends in a dead body! An obnoxious well know journalist who is out to prove Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny are not sleuths but murderers! Norton River has a ton of fans and even more enemies! The trio get right to work to solve the crime! This book was nonstop action, drama and danger. This time the danger factor was increased! The characters are great. I love all of them. I’m so happy Miss May has finally found a suitor. Who knew but Teeny feeling like she’s not a respected member of the team save the day. I love this series, this book and the Thomas’ I highly recommend this book and this series!
Although Miss May and Chelsea decides to expand their orchards from apples and Christmas trees to summery strawberries, some things never change. A body of a well hated journalist is found stabbed in their strawberry patch and it literally is up to the three ladies to solve the mystery when Chelsea's new boyfriend/detective Wayne is removed from the case and placed on porta potty duty. Will "always left behind" Teeny be able to prove she is an essential part of the team?

The orchard’s first strawberry festival is a big hit and everything is going great, until a very unpopular journalist is found dead in the strawberry patch. Fortunately, Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny are on the case. This series is fun to read. These cozy mysteries are thoughtfully plotted, the characters are well-drawn and likable, and the writing moves the story right along. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. I received this book free and chose to make a voluntary, unbiased review.
There is a roller coaster of action and suspense in this book! Miss May, Chelsea, and Teeny are deep into investigating another murder with one suspect after another.
The ladies are holding a Strawberry Festival celebrating their new strawberry harvest which includes lots of interesting characters. I loved the banter between Miss May, Chelsea, and Teeny as they are hot on the trail of a murderer. They are always good for a laugh.
I really enjoyed reading this and looking forward to the next book in the series.
Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea had the hardest time in this story, they went back and forth in the search for the culprit, they had to deal with misguided information, and also a little bit of jelousy among the three of them, but they succeed. As always, the story and the plot are well constructed, full of funny situations and banter in a way that captivates the reader´s attention. It´s a most enjoyable reading and with lots of action and fun !

Strawberry Short-Dead is an amazing installment of the latest Apple Orchard Mystery Series and it is AMAZING! I've come to know all the characters with each book making them more life like. They are my good friends now! This book keeps you guessing right up until the end. It is awesome and I can't wait until the next book! Write fast Chelsea Thomas! This book can be read as a stand alone too. The characters are deep, the plot is amazing and surprising an it pulls you along until the big reveal at the end! (There is even a little romance thrown in to spice things up!)
If you are looking for some fun, light reading I would recommend this book. The characters are quirky but endearingly so and the mystery well plotted. While this is billed as a mystery I have to say there are plenty of laughs to be had.
Chelsea, Miss Mae and Tinny are at it again. When Chelsea finds a dead body on the farm, she and her two fellow amateur sleuths investigate. After all everyone knows that the small town police department won't solve the crime!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I will be honest I thought for sure this would be the first murder that the dynamic trio wouldn't solve as wow talk about a mass of potential suspects! Some suspects are people we know as well as others we don't, there are surprise revelations as well as a little bit of time for romance as well as a time crunch in regards to solving the murder before there are more victims. This is definitely a page turner that won't disappoint and will leave you wanting strawberries and sprinkles!

This is a great addition to the series. Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny have their hands full with the latest murder. Solving the murder leads in many different directions and ultimately to a second murder. Chelsea and Wayne have to deal with several issues but wind up in a better place. In the end Teeny saves the day when KP and the three amateur sleuths finds themselves dealing with a very dangerous murdered.

Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea are in the thick of it again. The Apple Orchard has decided to grow strawberries and it’s that time of the season for picking. The farm is open to visitors and low and behold, another body is found. There sure seems to be a lot of people who interacted with the person killed from this town.
I really enjoy reading the situations Miss May, Teeny and Chelsea put themselves in to solve the crime.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Aunt May, Chelsea and the gang will have to deal with strawberries and a dead guy.
Nothing says summer like a newspaper critic who ends up dead after insulting a farm and end up covered in strawberries on said farm.
The gang will be kept busy as they try to solve the case despite the many suspects Once again you will enjoy the humorous antics that they will get into.
I have read every single book in this series, I am hooked! This latest book just hooked me even more. I feel like Chelsea, Miss May & Teeny are real people, I love all the banter and I liked getting to know more about Patrick Ewing in this book. I highly recommend this book, and all the other books in the Apple Orchard series.

These stories just get better and better. The Apple Orchard is hosting its first strawberry festival. An obnoxious famous reporter, who never has a nice word for anybody, comes to report on it. He is found dead in the strawberry patch and of course Miss May and Chelsea are suspect. Join in as they weed out the clues with Teeny to find the true culprit. This is a fun, cozy mystery that makes a great addition to the series. You will not be disappointed.
Another fun and exciting story on the Apple Orchard. Can strawberries be charged as coconspirators in a crime? First there is a murder in the strawberry patch and who can you blame besides the strawberries. Seriously, join Chelsea, Miss May and Teeny as they track down each clue. Enjoy the hilarious times they spend trying to solve the mystery. Love this series, the characters are old friends and the plots just keep getting better and better. Highly recommend.
Having fell into another mystery that caught me from the beginning this one hit the spot. When they decide to go even further of course that is where the place is the body is found murdered. It is now the ladies that have to find the answers with us right behind them turning those pages. Not having read alot of these though I have immensely enjoyed the ones I have. So every chance I will get into another one too.
Miss May, Chelsea and Teeny are at it again as another murder has happened at the farm. The new strawberry festival is about to start and the not-so-nice journalist is found dead in the patch. Crazy situations, misdirection and bad clues have them going in all directions. You get sucked in right from the beginning and you still can not see where it is going. This series just keeps getting better.
