As an avid fan of fantasy, I try to combine shades of some of my favorite authors' writing - Tad Williams, Raymond E. Feist, and RA Salvatore, among others - into my own world. The result is a world of rich descriptions, complex politics, and heart-racing combat.
I started writing Sci-Fi short stories in fifth grade after seeing the movie "Aliens" in the theater. After getting into Dungeons & Dragons with friends as a teenager, my interests moved to Epic Fantasy, but still rooted in a Sci-Fi alien world. The Eve of Redemption series represents the culmination of years of world-building and back-story development, much of it through epic AD&D campaigns, that takes familiar epic fantasy and brings it to an alien world.
I live in Rhode Island with my wife and two daughters. When I'm not chasing the rascals around the yard or counting beans for the boss, I'm usually imagining the next turn on the long road that the Eve of Redemption series brings.
Fantastic book although shifting from the first boxset I had listened to on audio, then reading it on my kindle took just a touch of the magic out of it. Not enough that I didn’t find it a fantastic series from beginning to end this was worth all the effort! A must read, after reading the first boxset!
Again the religious narrative was strong and at a couple of points I was worried that Christianity would "win" in the end. That was definitely NOT the case. On top of that, the author used a benign but accurate depiction of homosexuality. Thank you for an roller coaster ride through all 11 books. The twists and turns, gains and losses were amazing!
I am determined to reread the whole series in a year or two. I find that so much is missed after only one read. But I only read books I truly loved twice! This is one series I will reread!
This is the 2nd half of a great series. The characters feel like family & there are plenty of action scenes. There are lessons of faith and overcoming bias. The characters evolve throughout the series.
While I enjoyed the first bundle of this series the second was, well about a thousand pages longer then it needed to be. The “faith” storyline overwhelmed pretty much everything else. It got super repetitive. While I loved the main character I didn’t need every other character to constantly tell her how awesome she was... constantly. Like I said at least a thousand pages of reading that didn’t really help move the story along because it was all just so repetitive
