I love creating unique characters, love giving them happy endings and I even love the voices in my head. There's no other job I would rather be doing. In September 2002, when I got the call that Silhouette Desire wanted to buy my first book, Desert Warrior, it was a dream come true. I hope to continue living the dream until I keel over of old age on my keyboard.
I was born in Fiji and raised in New Zealand. I also spent three years living and working in Japan, during which time I took the chance to travel around Asia. So far, I've worked as a lawyer, a librarian, a candy factory general hand, a bank temp and an English teacher and not necessarily in that order. Some might call that inconsistency but I call it grist for the writer's mill.

This short read, part 3 of the story in Singh's newsletter didn't pack the punch I was hoping for. Was slightly underwhelmed.

How will a human country farmer and a changeling big city architect make it happen? Sparks are zinging between Zara and Tanner when he takes her on a picnic and talks direct with her.

4 Stars - Well-Executed Short Paranormal Romance
I rated the first two parts of "Wildcat Blues" with 3.5 stars. Now that it's complete I will say its the perfect for when you need the 'feels' without the drama. Its sexy, cute, and a short story done very well!

Conclusion to the story of Wildcat urbanite Zara and Human farmer Tanner. It's a story out of the main arc with only the slightest connection back to Tally and Clay.
What I wonder is whether Ms Singh is a fan of "The Farmer wants a Wife"?

A short story, 19.5 in the Psy-Changeling paranormal romance series that is in three parts, revolving around the SnowDancer wolf pack and the DarkRiver leopard pack outside San Francisco. The focus is on Zara. If you're interested, there is a chronological listing of the Psy-Changeling books on my website.
Part 1 is in the 30 Dec 2020, part 2 is in the 2 Jan 2021, and part 3 is in the 31 March 2021 newsletters from Nalini Singh.
My Take
Ya just know she's gonna take a dive, as Zara is much too intent on how much she loves being a city girl, what with lattes and fabulous heels. Yet she does want a family...but there's just no spark.
It's that vacation she takes with Clay, Tally, Jon, and Noor that'll change her life.
Yet Zara can't seem to help herself.
My only real niggle is the ending, where Singh leaves us hanging. Sure, she promises that she may revisit Zara's story some time in the future…ahem, the future?? I don't wanna wait that long!
The Story
That Zara is a woman and a wild cat changeling who loves the city, fabulous heels, and creating her magic, architecturally. But even in San Francisco, she can't find someone for a relationship.
It's downright depressing, what with all these gorgeous male shifters...all taken or not quite right.
The Characters
Zara De Lêon is an architectural designer and cat shifter who works at DarkRiver HQ in San Francisco.
DarkRiver is...
...a pack of leopards based outside of San Francisco. Mercy and Clay (he's mated to Talin, a.k.a. Tally, Mine to Possess , 4; "Christmas in the Kitchen", 7.5; "Home", 9.7; Allegiance of Honor , 15; and, Wolf Rain , 18) are sentinels. Clay and Tally have two adopted Psy, Jon and Noor. Lucas is the Alpha. Tammy and Nate Ryder are the healer and the most senior lieutenant.
The Nest is ...
...where Tally’s adoptive parents, the Larkspurs, farm in Iowa. Tally has two brothers — the self-confident, playful Tanner and Sam — and two sisters, including Samara. Star is Tanner's horse.
The Title
The title is what Zara's enduring, the "Wild Cat Blues" about her needs and wants.

"How dare he flaunt himself to an innocent woman minding her own damn business."We know everything Zara thinks as Singh is using third person protagonist point-of-view from Zara's perspective. And it is a battle in her mind, lol!
"...freaking amazing steel-toed boots designed to be protective and stylish..."It's an easy read without much action — Zara does spend a lot of time protesting and coming up with excuses. Being on the farm certainly helps her protests...too many cow pats!
Yet Zara can't seem to help herself.

Full Story Review:
Zara, who we basically haven't really seen in detail since Slave to Sensation but has been mentioned a couple of times throughout the series, finally gets her own man! Visiting Tally's adoptive family, the Larkspurs, at their farm with Clay and their kids, Zara meets one of Tally's brothers, sexy farmer Tucker, and before you know it, sparks fly, bada bing bada boom, they're on the way to be mated. Just like most of the characters in the Psy-Changeling universe.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love (probably to a dangerous degree) the theme of insta-mating in this series - nothing like some good, solid primal instincts leading your hormones. There's no up-in-the-air bullshit or even the sliver of a chance that they can separate after the mating bond and you know what? I like that type of reassurance.
Anywho, Zara was cute, Tanner was cute and I hope they pop up again in the series.

Rating:4 stars - It was really good
“You’re tiny but boom, you hit a man hard.”
Well these two were adorable. Tanner is such a smooth talking farm boy and I loved it. I loved how honest and sweet he was. He laid his feelings out right away and was determined for Zara to see he really meant everything he said.
“You fit something in me.”
I really hope we get to see more of these two because I want more. I wasn’t expecting to fall for these two so quickly and in just a few pages either but I did, and I loved it.

This is adorable and with the other two parts of the story, makes up a nicer longer story than we usually get for these shorts. The downside, is that there is no ending. As usual, it looks like they have found their match and will be happy together, but they Zara and Tanner and very much in the just starting out phase planning their first dates and deciding they want to chance a relationship even though she is all city girl and he's a good ol' country boy. The silver lining is in the author's note at the end indicating that these two will most likely make another appearance somewhere in the future. When that future may be and if they will be the stars of the show or a footnote bringing them into another story along the way is anyone's guess.

This was a short story that came out in the April newsletter from Nalini Singh. Apparently it is the 3rd part of the story, but somehow I missed the first two and went back and read it all in one setting.
Whoa, is it hot. There is instant attraction between Farm Boy and the City Girl and as always, Ms. Singh can sure write some UST. Even though this is a CRAZY case of Insta-Love, it seems completely reasonable the way it was written.
I would be totally interested in reading more about this couple...whenever she would like to continue it. It kept my attention, was steamy and enjoyable. Fun, fun, fun....

I'm going to write this review for the entirety of this 3 part mini series. This was a insta-love story of the introduction of Zara (architect leopard for DarkRiver) and Tally's big human brother Tanner, one country boy farmer. City girl and country boy meet and recognize the future in each other. Sure it was fast, but then again I'll accept insta-love in my shifter stories. This was just a sweet little romp tease of an introduction to these two. Hopefully we do see them pop up in future stories. I'd like to see how their future together works out.

Oficialmente ha sido de las historias cortas que más me ha gustado. A pesar de no conocerlos de nada, consiguen hacerte creer en su flechazo y te dejan con ganas de que lo suyo funciono. No tiene grandes promesas, pero si muchas ganas de hacer que lo que sienten crezca y parece que estan dispuestos a poner de su parte para lograrlo. Además, nos dan la visión de un cambiante de ciudad y eso me ha gustado mucho

Very cute!!
I love that we got to visit 'The Nest' and Tanner has me super intrigued. I would love an update to Zara and Tanner's story so fingers crossed they show up in a future book.

Very cute start to Zara and Tanner story! I would love to see them drop in to future books! I thought their meeting was very powerful and I loved Tanner! He is so strong but isn't afraid to bare himself.
