One minute I’m in an underground cave on a Special Ops mission,
and the next thing I know, I’ve travelled through time.
My life became prehistoric pretty damn fast.
I may have fought the bad guys in the military, but now I had new enemies.
Woolly mammoths and saber tooth tigers – and no other humans in sight.

Five years later, I’m still stuck here.
Lonely as hell with a bright yellow bird I’ve named Polly to keep me company.
What I really want is a woman.

When a flash of lightening brings rain, I’m worried about my fire going out.
Turns out that’s the least of my concerns.
Because there’s a new storm in this Paleolithic place.
Her name is Skylar.
A gorgeous force to be reckoned with and she’s plenty pissed to be stranded here with me.

Dear Reader,
It’s been a long ass year and we all deserve a vacation.
Forget tropical beaches – we’re headed to the place where the first mountain man lives.
He’s feral, grumpy and hot as hell.
And his hands can do more than build a fire – they’ll give you the heat you crave.
I know this one is a little far-fetched, but darling, you deserve something extraordinary.

I found this to be a rather cute, low angst, insta love time travel romance that was included in an audiobook book package with all the 4 books in the series. They seem to be in more novella form Wich is great if feeling for a shorter but sweet romance. But I've have to say this wasn't quite what I expected. Looking at the cover and title I thought this was going to be more of a modern human traveling back in time and falls in love with an older type of human species. It wasn't but wasn't upset as it was an enjoyable read. But I don't think I want to read the rest as I feel I got enough from this one.

Bam Bam!!!

Frankie love makes the best mountain men. But have you ever read about a Cave Man. This story follows Stone a special Ops guy who gets trapped in a cave during a special mission. He isn’t expecting to get stuck in prehistoric times.

His entire life up until this point has been about his career and now he may never be in love or date a woman ever again.

Skylar had a dead end job at a smoothie shop and the day she gets fired her friend’s silly girlfriend suggest she sell everything and go backpacking around 🎒 the world 🌎. She thinks she will find herself on this Trip around the world but what happens is not only does she find happiness she may never be able to go home again.

This book has a strong 💪🏽 hero 🦸‍♂️ who also wears a uniform and a beautiful girl at his side to help him fight the unknown. This was a great quick read.

I received a free copy via Booksprout and I am leaving an honest review.

This was a cheesy sweet simple romance not very long but an easy enough simple read. It was basically ok for me nothing special but enjoyable enough to pass an hour.
It’s simply put Stone who’s some type of military ends up stuck in the past when a grenade goes off in some caves.
Five years later Skylar who’s travelling and exploring the same cave system suffers the same fate when some boys with firecrackers set them off in the cave system sending her through time to Stone.

This story is simple a tad corny and quite sweet there’s no angst it’s very inastalove and Skylar swiftly excepts her fate and decides this is it for her a Life with stone in the past. I also struggled to feel much of a connection between Stone and Skylar. Nothing wrong with this but it also doesn’t really stand out either.

Well, it was something to read for an hour plus. Since it was really short, I might read the next book because I'm nosey and they're on KU. But maybe not. Happy reading.

HOLY JALAPEÑOS, this was good!!

For a novella, it packed in a story! It was unique, fast, and fun!

Really enjoyed this one!

Safe. Hero’s past isn’t really mentioned and he’s been celibate for years, stranded by himself in prehistoric earth. Heroine is a virgin and belongs only to her hero. No ow/om. No cheating or sharing. HEA with minor epilogue

Cave Man de Frankie Love Serie The First Mountain Man libro 1

Argumento:

Yo quería sacudirla, realmente me molestaba!

Stone is a special-ops soldier who, because of an explosion in the cave he's hunting terriorist, wakes up in a pre-historic world. Alone for five years, he hears a woman's voice. She's scared and trying to outrace a wholly mammoth. Who is she? Where did she come from?

I enjoyed this story. It's a good escape from today's reality. I liked the world building of the Stone Age (no pun intended) and how Stone and Skylar (the woman) learn to live together. Both have scars from their pasts but since they only have each other they learn to work together. They are attracted to each other and try to make their lives as "normal" as possible. They do a good job at it.

The ending is interesting. I want to know what happens to the other guys he was with in the cave. I'd also like to know if they can ever get back. Do they want to go back?

What started as a fun April Fool's gag became reality as readers kept asking for this story to be told. Frankie obliged us with Caveman, and it was so much fun. As Stone and Skylar are thrust back in time, they have only each other as the navigate a prehistoric paradise in modern day Mexico. It may take some time for them to adapt and come together, but when they do, it with full hearts and bodies on fire. It was a steamy short, and I really enjoyed the originality of it. I can't wait for more of this series!

It was good - giving it 3 stars for the unique time travel and likable characters. It was not developed enough for me to give it further stars. It was alright for a quite read though and since I have the whole series for free I’ll read the rest of them.

There was not much nutritional value here, but it was still a satisfying piece of love candy :D

I find time-travel back to prehistoric times quite interesting...the best was no doubt Transcendence. This story could have been longer and more fleshed out but I still enjoyed it.

I was looking forward to reading this book as it had a unique plot, however, it wasn’t very good. The author kept repeating “caveman” about Stone, who was NOT a caveman, but a present day soldier that got trapped back in time five years before Skylar did. But it seemed to turn on Skylar to keep referring to him as a caveman 🙄 Also, the author kept repeating the same thing from Stone’s point of view that all he wanted to do was keep Skylar safe 🙄 They barely met and he’s totally in love with her though he doesn’t know anything about her. Skylar shows up all upset about finding herself back in time and proceeds to take it out on Stone. However, what she gets mad at Stone about makes no sense for her to be upset with him! Stone also had saved a Snickers bar for 5 years and decides to share it with Skylar on her first morning there. Um, that Snickers bar wouldn’t have lasted two days never mind 5 years for me! I doubt a Snickers bar would even remain good that long. Maybe a year not five. Skylar also eventually falls for Rock, but again we see nothing of them getting to know each other. Just badly described sex. What also bothered me about this book was the author had the story set in Mexico yet there were lions, black leopards, and rhino?!!!! OMG, no! Those animals never lived in Mexico! Not even in prehistoric times!!!! The worst thing of all was at the end, Skylar was 9 months pregnant, about to give birth, yet she’s so horny she has to climb on top of Stone and have sex. She then goes into labor. I’m, sorry at 9 months, no one wants sex, you feel miserable and want the baby out. This is not the horny phase. That’s MUCH earlier. And good luck getting out of bed never mind climbing up on to you partner! There was very little story and the book was very short. A good plot idea but the author failed on execution.

I'm pretty sure this is one of the best best books Frankie Love has EVER written.

So creative and out-of-the-box and even though it was a short story, the world-building was phenomenal.

I also loved that they didn't just hump into bed together the first day they met. They got to know the other person and fall love with them before having sex.

I can't wait to read more books from this series.

This is a must read!!

You never know what you will find in the jungle

Cave Man is the first book in The First Mountain Man series. The story is different in that it mixes modern day with prehistoric all from the jungles of Mexico. It is about Stone Maguires who is on a mission to capture terrorists in the underground caves in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico with his Special Ops team when there is a grenade explosion and then things get really interesting. Stone wakes up and crawls out of the cave only to find himself "not in Kansas any more Toto". Skylar is having a really bad day when she is fired from her job and then finds the friend she is crashing with suggesting that she needs to find her own apartment. Well one thing leads to another and Skylar finds herself in Mexico on a adventure to explore and find some happiness. She had not had much of that in her life growing up but better late than never. She is camping her way down the Yucatan Peninsula when she decides to explore these beautiful underground caves. As she is exploring a group of young men run past her and they end up setting off a bunch of firecrackers which is more than expected. When she wakes up and crawls out of the cave she finds herself in a different land....and being chased by a woolly mammoth. Lucky for her there is a cave man there to save her, but he is singing a lullaby to the woolly mammoth to calm the big beast down. It turns out that Stone has been surviving for five years all by himself in this time, without ever seeing or finding anyone else. Now a curvy young beauty is running towards him and he is not about to go all cave man on her as he wants to keep her around, even if it may only be the company, but hopefully for so much more.

I have to say that this story had me laughing, swooning and wondering if I had fallen into a different dimension as I was reading. I thought the story was really well done and the characters, including the supporting animals, were all nicely written. Both Stone and Skylar have to not only learn to survive in their new world but then they have to learn to survive with each other, which may be the bigger challenge. This story was not what I was expecting but it turned out to be a lot more than I could have wanted. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the books in this series to see what happens to the rest of Stone's team.

Frankie Love should win an award for this! Reading my headline, someone might think it is as ridiculous as the premise of the story. I am thankful to have received an advance copy of Cave Man in exchange for posting my unbiased review because it gave me time to reflect on the story longer than I normally would when posting a review on a book from this genre. There is a lot more to this story than the printed words on the page.

I laughed out loud when Love first announced the release of Cave Man. I thought it a pretty audacious attempt to write a Neanderthal romance - LOL - but one that only she could possibly pull off. Cave Man surpasses my wildest imaginings of what this could be about, especially since I dislike time travel storylines. When I first started reading I thought this was probably an average romantic read, while adding Ms. Love's self-proclaimed "raunchy, racy and a little ridiculous" to improve the entertainment value and the review raised to above average. Then I read the year "2021" stated boldly in her story which confused me. If an author wants their story to be relevant entertainment for as long as possible, then blatantly dating a story is suicide, unless it is a period piece, like a historical romance. Suddenly my mind was blown.

What is significant about 2021 that she would want to convey to future readers? Cave Man is not just a short, steamy romance, nor it is not about time travel or the magnitude of seeing a wooly mammoth for the first time. This story is a metaphor conveying an aspect of living through the isolation of a global pandemic. BOOM! For those of us who've done it, we can identify with the scruffiness of Stone after living like a cave man for so long, of him talking to things that don't talk back to you, and of Skyler's irrational offer to sleep in her tent as she's not quite grasped the magnitude of her situation yet. If there is a time capsule for the current state of our world, then this story should be included.

Bravo, Frankie Love! I excitedly anticipate the rest of the series, and am especially looking forward to how they get themselves out of the environment in which they find themselves and how it may change them (and us).

Stone and his special ops unit were on a mission in the Mexican jungle. They were pinned down by enemy fire inside a cave. They were seperated by the gunfire and then the enemy threw a grenade shaking up the whole cave. Stone was struck in the head and blacked out. When he woke, he was alone and his surroundings looked different. When he left the cave and saw wooly mammoths and saber toothed tigers, he know that somehow he must have gone back in time. Now somehow he has to figure out how to survive and find a way back. Five years later he is still fighting wooly mammoths when he is shocked to hear a woman scream. He rushes and finds Skylar being chased by a wooly mammoth and he calms the mammoth down. Then he gets to break the news to Skylar that she is stuck in the past with him. Stone has great hope for the future now because now he has found a strong woman that he is attracted to and he is no longer alone.

Skylar has had problems trusting people since her dad abandoned her to foster care when she was young. She always had to struggle to get ahead but now she feels lost. She lost her job at a juice bar after rejecting customers advances. Then she finds out her roomate want her to move out. Her roommate told her that since she had nothing holding her back, that she should explore the world. She even offered a ticket to Mexico so Skylar could spend the summer hiking and camping. Skylar is enjoying Mexico and exploring a famous cave system when some idiotic kids shoot off a big firework, shaking up the cave. Skylar wakes up to find herself in a whole new world and about to be trampled by a wooly mammoth. Luckily Stone rescues her and offers to teach her survival skills. Skylar doesn't want to give up on going back home but she is also very attracted to Stone.

Initially, I bought the box set, and the description wasn't very clear, so I thought it was about actual cavemen with the h's being the time travelers, which I thought sounded pretty interesting. That is not what this is.

The description for this individual book is much more clear that BOTH MCs are time travelers to ancient history. The H gets there first when he is with his SEAL company, and they go into a cave in Mexico somewhere with some weird electromagnetic stuff happening... and boom - he is stranded in some sort of prehistoric land for 5 years completely by himself. The h is "finding herself" and hiking around Mexico, stumbles upon the same weird cave area, electromagnetic things happen, and she finds herself now in the same prehistoric land where she soon stumbles upon the only other human that happens to be a hot SEAL. Good thing they find each other extremely attractive bc that would have been awkward (eye roll). Anyway, after much miscommunication, they realize that they do like each other, and we have an HEA.

Again, I was disappointed by the actual premise of the story, so that probably colors my rating of this book, but it was just "meh" imo, but had the potential to have been much better. I did not read the rest of the series as I returned the box set after this one.

Plot --- 2/5
Main Characters --- 3/5
Supporting Cast --- there really wasn't one
Steam Level* --- 3.5/5
Violence --- just man v beast stuff, but nothing graphic
Language --- some
POV --- Dual

*Note that steam level is not a rating so much as a how hot was it: 0/5 - clean; 1/5 - mild (nothing descriptive); 2/5 - 3rd base action/1 home run; 3/5 - now we're getting somewhere (a couple of full-on steamy scenes); 4/5 - yes please! (erotica territory); 5/5 - they did EVERYTHING in this one, y'all

Stone and his special ops team get pinned down in a cave in Mexico by enemy gunfire. When a grenade is thrown shaking up the cave, Stone hits his head and blacks out. Stone wakes up alone and has traveled back in time when he sees animals long extinct, such as a woolly mammoth. Stone tries over and over to get back to his time without success and spends the next five years alone with a woolly mammoth and bird as his friends. Skylar is in Mexico on a hiking and camping trip after she is fired from her job and her roommate wants her to move out. Skylar is in a cave in Mexico when some young boys throw fire crackers that causes the cave to shake throwing Skylar around until she blacks out. Skylar is shocked to wake up in a time that doesn't exist anymore and is rescued from an attacking woolly mammoth by a very handsome caveman. Stone is shocked to see Skylar but finds his future looking brighter with a woman he finds attractive. Can Stone convince Skylar there isn't a way to get back to their own time? Will Stone and Skylar give into their attraction to each other? Can Skylar let go of her baggage and learn to trust Stone and his feelings towards her? Will Stone and Skylar find their happily ever after? I enjoyed Cave Man by Frankie Love.

The couple: Stone and Skylar

Romance genre: mountain man
Part of a series: Yes (The First Mountain Man)
Length: 69 pages

Plot: Stone is part of a military operation hunting terrorists in a cave system in Mexico. There is an explosion and Stone is sent back to prehistoric times. He has to figure out a way, and does for five years, when something similar happens to Skylar (minus the terrorists) and sends her to the same time and place as Stone. He's more than happy to show her how to survive, amongst other things. Can they make it work in the Cave Man days?

Character development: Skylar was a bit back and forth in her emotions. To be fair, I don't know what it's like to time travel and be stuck in prehistoric times. Stone was fairly patient with her, but honestly, there wasn't any other outcome possible for them, was there? They were good together, though, and it was convenient that Skylar did CrossFit - at least she was in shape. I would have died the first day.

Would I read more from this author/in this series: Yes
Next book in the series: Cave Man Need Wife

In those times by MeemsAngel82

Ok, I believe this is my very first ever Insta prehistoric or Insta historic anything. Insta time travel, you name it. I finally got to read this and what was I even waiting for? This was so FUN! Getting tossed about in life is bad enough, but then landing in prehistoric times?! This was a wild trip! And I really do mean wild! The two are great together and as much as this is a time travel story it felt like it really happened.

They both got transported back to prehistoric times and fell in love.

And how romantic is that? Needing someone, the one. And finding them here? Meant to be I tell you! I felt for both of their pasts. Being lonely is a terrible and scary thing. I love that they both found love with each other, real love. Her roommate and her partner...they were a little too eager to get rid of her. How nice. The mean girl part of me appreciates that they'll be guilt ridden forever when she doesn't come back from finding herself. Love how they met the one to complete them, someone they can call family. A fun and emotional read and I can hardly wait to read the rest of this series!

I received a copy from Booksprout; this is my honest review.
-Stone ends his life in the present time as a tunnel rat. Skylar is mostly still trying to find herself. The thing is, they both want to love and be loved in return.
-I loved that there were similarities between the two time travel: the means, the reasons, etc.
-The author is good at making us feel the loneliness Stone encountered when he called out for his buddies.
-I really liked how Stone and Skylar met and how Stone made friends regardless of being the only human.
-The epilogue is sweet and wraps-up a few things. I particularly loved the part when Skylar's waters broke.
-I really like it when the author brings us to the next book.
-The only part I didn't really like was the unbelievable 6 hours between when the waters broke and giving birth. If that was so, Skylar would be extremely weak because of the intensity of travail. The six hours could have been easily replaced by later that day or the next, without giving any amount of hours.

New World - So different - Stone Age!!! I hate to say that I loved this book but I truly did, a bit different than what I am used to from Frankie. This is about Skylar and Stone. Skylar has been living on her friend's couch and now she just lost her job, so nowhere to go, her friend suggests she goes hiking especially as she loves it and this will give her the opportunity to figure out what she wants from her life. Her friend actually buys her a one-way ticket to Mexico to start there, well I guess the friend never thought of what is going to happen to poor Skylar.

Stone on the other hands starts off the story with him being on a mission with his service brothers, but when a grenade hits the cave that they are all in, it is not good because somehow he ends up in a prehistoric time and now he is no longer the Sargeant but the Caveman! The story gets better when Skylar falls into the same cave that transforms to prehistoric times and they meet. Love at first sight or something else?
