Learned some interesting facts about the history of snacks. This book use presented with imaginary life characters. I suppose that that's to make it seem more interesting, but personally, I have always been very mentally and intellectually distracted by that narration method. This book was no exception to that. I was able to skip over it, though, there was little else to glean. I appreciate the research and the age appropriate approach for analytical evaluation ideas and for format review and also a list of suggested related reading. Otherwise, probably just two stars.
I'm actually surprised by how much I liked this book. I am a bit torn about all the '"children" introduced. I think it's trying to help the reader make connections but it's a little distracting.
Lots of great information about Frito Lay told in a child friendly way. I especially like the end pages where there are questions to extend the book and research tips!
A very small book about potato chips. (Crisps) Iv been to the USA several times and love the Lays potato chips better then the U.K. crisps. Having read this little book, I found things out I didn’t know. Like Lays are called walkers crisps.
I was way more enthralled by this book for young readers than I was expecting to be. Great surface level information about Frito Lay for any aged reader. I especially enjoyed seeing how the company changed their brand name depending on which international market they were permeating. Fascinating.
