I love the genre of German "Krimis" or detective/crime stories. This author is particularly adept at interweaving the details of a private detective's work with the social life of a 40-something single guy in Münster, Germany. These stories take place in the late 80s in West Germany, so it's fun to see detective work done in the days before ATMs, the internet and cell phones. This particular story tells the tale of a man who goes missing after becoming to involved in a cult "The Church of Modern Philosohy", something that resembles the Church of Scientology. Well worth the read!
