Imagine my delight when my husband brought this gem home from work. And no, it's not a library book. It's ours to keep! (His co-worker received it as a gift, but due to a recent and tragic chicken loss, finds the book too painful to look at.)
Great pictures, great rhymes. Oh yeah, did I mention it's about chickens? Pick up a copy right now.
The real photographs in this board book are great and hilarious. We especially enjoy the page where the chicken is squawking and the other page where the chicken is sneaking up on a sleeping cat. I can just picture the cat leaping straight up into the air after getting pecked. This is a rhyming book and there are others in the busy book series.
Cute pictures of evil birds. I especially love the cover shot, the chickens on it remind me of the mean women from Gone With the Wind with the big hats.
Illustrated with photographs of hierloom chickens, this book shows chickens doing a variety of typical chicken and not so chickenish (e.g. zooming) activities accompanied by text in rhyming couplets. The photos are really great, and baby really liked looking at them.
Nice pictures and wide vocabulary presented simply and clearly in this board book. Seems very familiar, but if I read any of the other "Busy" books, I didn't record it here.
Before I gave this book to my 11 month old I had to remind my husband not to say that chickens are yucky. Our favorite page? "Chicken sneaking," which has a rooster walking up behind a cat. Hilarity!
This delightful tale, that takes the reader through the many daily activities of this avian species, is truly a gem. A recommended read for people of all ages.
