Let me just start by saying I hope Mel will die lol! I have never been a fan of her, and am a little worried about where the story is going. Maybe it’s because I’m protective of Adie, but I thought she was a bit too much. I'm also curious to see where James and Lois will fit in the equation.

“How do those panties feel?” My hand wavers over his ass lightly, kneading the flesh gently. I’m going to flog these ass cheeks a lovely shade of cherry red in a minute, so that they sting like fire while he’s trying to get to sleep. I’m nice like that.
“A bit short on material, if I’m honest. They certainly let the air circulate, though.”

I liked how Adie took whatever dished out on him like a real man and of course, with his sparkling personality. Being the filthy reader that I am, my favorite part is not surprisingly what I call the “teamwork scene” lol!

Vicious Retaliation is a story of getting even. Looking forward to seeing the story is going.

Continuing without interruption in the timeline, Adrien “Adie” Dumortier is the focus of Melinda "Mel" Leader’s retaliation. Held captive, it is Mel's aim to humiliate and torture Adie. Though Adie is well versed in pain, Mel is equally up to the task and what ensues is a battle that neither may win.

“If you break me, not when, I’ll be so fucking broken you won’t be able to play with me anymore.”

Going into this book, I had some expectations of what was to happen and it was certainly delivered on heaping plate of hotness. Though I am a declared member of Team Adie, I knew he had to pay for his misdeeds, but at times I wanted to step in and defend his body parts for my own safekeeping. As for Mel, I’ve had mixed feelings about her, and though a bit of her past was revealed and she is an adept assassin, I would like to see her gone. So, that presents an interesting dilemma considering the plot trajectory. Maybe she should get her own doggie collar in the next round?

In true Adie nature, he took what was given and kept his perspective, and this just made him more endearing to me. It was definitely interesting to see how James and Lois interacted in this installment. The level of depravity went to eleven and it showed how far Adie and Mel could play in the deep end. With an explosive ending, I cannot wait to see what happens next. Oh, and send Adie to me so I can help in his, uh, rehabilitation. 😉

This also isn’t a book that you can read as a stand alone so the others in the series must be read in order to understand what is going on. Adie is not a guy that anyone would want to call a book boyfriend unless you want to be abused beyond what is pushing the boundaries. You will hate him, then love him, then want him to savagely entrap you while pushing your sexual dark fantasies to light. Adie also isn’t easy to like but he has a charm and charisma that to walk on the dark side is totally worth it. Me is the ultimate renegade that she isn’t one to have a quiet evening girl night out or a composed tea with. She would beat you up or sexually taunt you until you give in. Both Mel and Adie still captivate you wanting to fight with them not against them. Do you want more for CP Mandara, of course we do? Are we sick because of it possibly so? Still, it is worth the crazy agonizing trip that won’t let up.

Wow! I had no idea what to expect from this book, boy was I surprised! Presumably if you have read other books in this series, you will be prepared for the catalogue of cruel and unusual punishment faced by the 'hero'. The biggest surprise is how funny it is, (aside from a distressing account from Mel's youth). If you can stomach the sadistic violence meted out, this is an enjoyable read.

WTF!
I'm still digesting that ending! Spoiler alert! It ends with a big cliffhanger!

If Melinda was grating on my nerves i just hated her here!
Yes, Adie did horrible things!
Yes, he need to be punished!
Yes, she was every right to get even, but i really think that she took it to far!

The diference between Adie and Mel, is that Adie (in my POV) just went to extremes when he was pushed by her! By her stubbornness, for her blatant "disrespect"! Had she played the "part" she was there to play (the naive civilian doctor) half her punishments would be avoided! (example: Keem "swing experience")
And in some way Adie always showed that he cared (feeding her, cleaning her, comforting her)

Mel in the other hand was so vile in her revenge that some parts actually bother me!

I don't have a clue what the author is going to do... really looking forward the next book!

This is a dark and twisted story with a cast of strong characters. It's the fourth book in the series and certainly lives up to it's title name. The author does a fantastic job painting her scenes with her detailed and descriptive writing and pulled me in with the intense story line. She does bring a bit of humor and delivers a terrific read. It's fast paced with tons of action and sex but does end in a cliffhanger that has me looking forward to the next book.

I love Adie, but he is going to get his back and then some with Mel. This is the main focus of the book, but we still get the other plot lines woven in (Sharkey and the laptop and Lois and James).

Mel has so much planned for him, but Adie has withstood a lot of torture and pain at the hands of his brother and father, so she has her work cut out for her. When she involves James in her revenge, I know that may be the one thing to break him. Adie doesn't plan on coming out of this alive, so Mel plans the worst end possible for him (a little homemade snip-snip). This just makes me cringe and I'm not even a guy. As usual, Adie is saved from that fate in the end, perhaps for now, but he is not going to be in a better situation. This book also leaves Lois and James to work out the problems in their relationship. My one complaint with James is that he didn't tell Mel to f-off when she went all domme with Lois. Lois is his and I feel like he should have stopped how Mel used Lois. And Lois, jesh, use your brain! Your relationship is already on unsteady ground and you go along with Mel's manipulations?
Very much looking forward to the next book to see how Mel and Adie get together, because I think they both want each other, desperately, and could work out once they get back at each other for past events, and, you know, save the world from terrorists.

This book is the continuation of Adies story and starts off with him being held hostage by Mel, the one who he had kidnapped previously after thinking she was someone else. I’ve loved Adie since the Secret Agent Series, so this book was actually really hard to get through. I agree, he’s messed up in the past, and he deserved some kind of punishment for that but I feel like Leader went too far. I wanted to cry over how tortured he was. I expected it from his brother in the other series, and he’s been through so much in his past you know what he went through, but he didn’t deserve what happened to him in this one. I felt for him and I’m glad that at least Lois felt the same and wanted to come to his rescue. I’m pretty sure I know where this is headed and I’m not sure I have the stomach for it. Another packed full read by C.P Mandara!

Wow, Wow,Wow!!!
This one is just plain brutal and I thought C.P. pony books were off the wall this one takes it up more than a notch or two. The back and forth between how each character is thinking is well done. Now perhaps I should feel a bit sorry for Adrien, but he really did not treat Mel very well and what he did to James was not cool but wow the ending bring on the next book as quick as possible I want to know what happens. Yes gang it ends in a cliffhanger. The characters are not likable, but I loved them they are angry, nasty, and just plain cruel with a bit of softness thrown in for good measure. Wow, I definitely wouldn't want to meet these people in real life. They are intense! Makes for a "I can't put this down" feeling. I read this book in one sitting, I literally did not want to put it down I was so interested in what was going to happen next. These characters are intense, exciting, and downright funky! BDSM it's not perse my favorite genre, but this author's writing is so infectious that I enjoy reading her books even tough there is a fair share of cruelty and torture. I even find myself kind of addicted. She writes humorously, and how horrible her characters may act, you still get sympathy for them. Her heroins are strong and her heroes are charming, there is chemistry and witty conversations. In this case, Melinda and Adrien, they are rather sadistic figures. Yet they are made human by describing their feelings and history . It's nice to read that there seems to be attraction and even fondness between them after all, and you just hope they will work it out together.
Lois is the weak link in this story for me, I like Mel: she just takes revenge for everything that has been done to her. Lois still has a soft spot for Adrien regardless what has been done to herself and Mel.
This story is not a standalone, but part of a series. The series about Lois, James and Adrien preceded this series. That is the only drawback of this author for me. The series are linked to other series, so if you want a complete story there are many books that you have to read Not good if you’ re an impatient reader like me. So I don't know how the relationship between Lois, James and Adrien started, only that there is disagreement because James and Lois are married. Feeling betrayed, Adrien wants to kidnap and abuse James' sister so that James gives up on Lois. Melinda is an agent that Adrien has a lot of respect for. Instead of sister Ione, Melinda is kidnapped, without Adrien knowing her identity. This experience makes Melinda want revenge. Meanwhile, James encounters all sorts of obstacles as he tries to free Mel. One of those obstacles is that his wife Lois is also kidnapped. Although Adrien is attracted to Mel, he still has feelings for Lois. But Adrien can be considered a manwhore so it remains to be seen whether earning a relationship with Mel has a chance. In addition, Adrien and Mel are two secret agents with conflicting interests.

***SPOILERS*** (for book 3 - Violent Retaliation)

Vicious Retaliation is the 4th book in C P Mandara's Twisted, Dark and Deadly series - featuring our favourite dark romance foursome of Adie, Mel, James and Lois, all of whom are assassins/secret agents. Its necessary to read the previous books in the series to make sense of the story and I'd recommend reading the prior Secret Agent series first if you want the backstory for James, Lois and Adie.

The action starts right where Book 3 left off - Lois has headed off to find James (who is poisoned and his time is running out), James is after a couple of Russian agents and the antidote. Adie is chained to a wall in Mel's apartment awaiting her pleasure.

Wow! Mel really goes to town on Adie now she has him at her mercy - well deserved for the most part, considering what he put her through in Violent Retaliation. Get ready for some heavy duty BDSM/torture - the atmosphere being lightened by the humorous back and forth between Mel and Adie.

Lois finally finds James - and the happy couple are not quite as happy as they used to be, James wants to kill Adie and Lois won't let him given she still loves Adie despite what he put her through in Violent Retaliation. They both head to Mel's and then the really filthy scenes start - I won't spoil it for anyone but expect all four to participate and for Adie to make a surprise intervention which proves he really does love Lois. He finally puts someone else before himself.

The ending is looking gruesome - and then ends with a huge curveball and a cliffhanger! Okay I now can't wait for Book 5 - Ms Mandara is totally my favourite dark romance author - highly recommended!

Triggers: Lots including rape, dub consent, torture - a strong stomach is required for reading anything by this author.

In this book Mel gets her revenge for what Adie did to her. This book is very dark; don't read if you get queasy at what can be sometimes very intense torture. The dark side is perfectly balanced with the interplay between Mel and Adie. The dialogue is delightful, especially Adie's sarcasm and witty responses meant to rile Mel.

C.P. Mandara is extremely talented in letting her characters' personalities drive the story and the interactions between people. Adie- you want to hate him but it's impossible to not fall in love with this very bad boy. Mel- her heart was frozen many years ago but she so wants to finally trust. Both were molded by horrible childhoods and the events of difficult lives.

You'll shake your head and warn Addie to keep his mouth shut to no avail then laugh at his brazen retorts. He truly shines in this book and you have to love him. He's that smart-mouthed kid who knows exactly what to say to get a rise from you sometimes with no filter. You'll cover your mouth so he can't see your true reaction. He is insightful and knows just which buttons to push and unfortunately doesn't stop while ahead. Mel is angry but also intrigued and maybe just a touch in love with the man who did her wrong.

Since this book follows what is essentially the second part of series, I highly recommend you read the book that precedes this one. My main complaint (after reading this in one sitting and completely invested and mesmerized) is the ending which left me cranky and frustrated, not in a good way. The cliff-hanger in the last book left me laughing and immediately wanting to read the next book (this one). This cliffhanger is troubling. But I definitely recommend it.

C.P. Mandara continues to not disappoint with this series. Melinda (Mel) and Adie's story continues with Mel taking the reins and distributing her payback to Adie for everything he did to her. For two people who both are strong willed and independent we watch feelings grow between them for each other. We also see James and Lois have their reunion from her kidnapping along with knowing the baby and her are doing great. Their relationship does tend to build an intense/toxic emotion when James is asked to complete his part of the deal he had with Mel for impersonating his sister Ione. With Lois refusing to stay back she decides to go with James and not be involved. Throughout the deal James does his part but things changes once James learns about all the events that occurred after Adie had saved Lois per James' request. With Lois not admitting/informing James we see things spiral, but Lois also starts to figure out a plan for saving Adie, being she cannot stand to watch him get killed which is what Mel was planning to do. Mel and Adie have a moment once James and Lois leave but it's cut short by two agents barging in. Cliffhanger for sure really making you wonder what's next.

An Eye for an Eye

3.75 stars from me.

This is a continuation from the last book. In this book tables are turned. It's not everyday that I get to read a Dominatrix book and I thoroughly enjoyed it especially if the subbie is Adie.
It was not as exciting as the previous books because what Melinda did to Adie was exactly the same/similar - an eye for an eye.
I love that Adie is learning new fetishes and is embracing his switch nature. I also find it a bit difficult to believe that he being so experienced in the flesh industry is not experienced or have not dabbled in it before or at least did a MM before, especially if his brother was that sadistic.
Less action pack compared to the previous books but still steamy in the core.

I really love Ms Mandara's humour and cannot wait for the next instalment to come out.

James looks for the antidote to the poison and then goes to find his wife, while Mel has kidnapped Adrien and giving him what he gave her. back in spades. Mel is so obsessed with this man she understands that she wants to be with him but she hates him too. She makes James promise to do her a favor and then they will be even. James finds his wife and she tells him that Adrien made her do things and that she didn't want him she wanted her husband and James let her know how he felt and then they went home on the way he told her what Mel wanted him to do before she killed Adie but Lois was not going to let Mel kill Adrien she wasn't sure how but she refused to stay home. Mel decides that Lois could play too. The interesting storyline and the characters are off the charts with the crazy. Drama, suspense, violence, torture, adult content, and love. I can only describe this as James Bond on amphetamine!


Vicious Retaliation is seriously OTT. Not just a little bit either. Massively, hugely, ginormously, utterly and totally, ridiculously pushing the boundaries. And I loved it!!!! In all reality no-one could survive what Mel put Adie through, but that's the beauty of a book - it's completely fictional so anything goes. So long as you're prepared to suspend your sense of reality, then this is an absolutely fabulous read.


This book is the fourth in the Twisted, Dark and Deadly series, and it completely lives up to both of it's titles. I knew Adie was in for a world of hurt, but the author totally managed to surprise me with the direction the story took, as well as all the little twists and turns along the way. I may choose to not forgive her for that cliff-hanger ending though! This is a series, so you do need to read the first three books (and for the FULL picture I would recommend reading the Special Agent series first as this is where we first meet Adie, Lois and James).


The book contains some pretty dark subject matter, but the humorous inner monologues and crazy quips lighten the atmosphere. I'm not quite sure how Ms Mandara can turn a torture scene into something that feels more like a moment from a rom-com AND write in such a way that you are enjoying things so much you cannot put the book down.


Talking of enjoying things I very much enjoy all things Adie, it should be criminal for a fictional character to charm and turn a girl on as much as he manages to do. He really does prove the saying of you can't keep a good man down, not-so-little Vlad definitely doesn't stay down for long! Mel is such a badass and not only is as tough as Lois but she is just as nasty as Adie. I can't wait for the moment this pair realise that what they feel for one another extends far past mere physical attraction!


If you're looking for a fast paced, full of action, kinky read with plenty of fun and sex then I do recommend this series.

First I’ll say unfortunately for me I missed the first three books in this series, however, I did read the Special Agent series. Therefore I do understand the darkness and could understand roughly what Adie put Mel through in a previous book. So when Booksprout had this pop up in my email I snatched it up.

Mel is definitely getting her revenge and apparently a lot more. She is one smart and bad woman it seems. Adie deserves everything he gets. James is still the sweetest guy and Lois uugghh I just wanna knocked her around a bit. The cliffhanger of course makes you wonder what really happened so I can’t wait for it.

Adie is owned a reckoning and Melinda (Mel) is just the woman to give it to him. His past misdeeds have caught up with him, and it's going to be very vicious (so if you don't like violence, torture and some cruel dark romance, this might not be for you). You need to read the previous books to get the most out of the story. I loved the new complexities to this dark, but I can't look away from romance. It's main characters (Adie, Mel, Lois and James) are assassins, and they are a bit broken and twisted, and so intriguing, I would definitely run from any of them in real life (but they make very interesting reading). I am looking forward to the next book, I hope it's soon.

Melanie leader takes her revenge with Addie by kidnapping him. How far will she go to get revenge on Addie, she will go to the extreme to pay him back for everything that he did to her. James and Lois, Make a show in the book by James’s promise to help Mel with anything that she needs ends up backfiring on him. The ending is not what you think and will keep you on the seat of your chair until the very end. Melanie definitely gets what she’s looking for, but you can tell feelings start to grow between the two of them.

This book was a fantastic read, emotional trauma, revenge, Adrian had a hard time as a child, breaking, then you have Mel at the age of sixteen she was rapped by six wealthy boys and got away with it, so now she cannot look at a man without thinking about what happened with her. Mel wants to kill him for what he done to her and all the other women and then she has multiple orgasms which she never has by a man before her punishment on him is all kink all BDSM.

Absolutely fabulous - what more can I say. This has been an outstanding series right from the start. This book really lives up to it's name and takes the bounds of possibilities to the absolute max. The characters and what they get up to truly beggars belief but this is fiction after all and is highly entertaining. The storyline is truly twisted and thoroughly absorbing. This one is not to be missed. Action packed and truly viscious retribution.

Well in this episode of Spy vs Spy, we find Mel with the upper hand. As a matter of fact, for once we find both our FMCs with the upper hand. It was refreshing to see Adrian on the receiving end of a female's wrath. Lois gets her own in spite of her husband and gains some knowledge about both Adrian and Mel. Oh wait, I almost forgot! The main plot of this novel: The Computer that everyone wants...Mel has it and there is a plan to take it from her, but that is for next time...

This is the 4th book in the series and I do recommend reading them in order. Mel is out for revenge after what Adie did to her and she knows exactly what she is going to do to get it. Fast-paced dark read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. Great characters, with lots of action and an entertaining and intense read. I loved it!

Jump right in and explore the twisted, depraved world of Mel and Adrien. These two extremely cracked in the head people are all sorts of worlds of crazy. You cannot help but get caught up in their mix of sick payback. I cannot believe how much I want to know more about them.

A story filled with drama, suspense and intrigue. The characters were well crafted and absolutely fascinating. The storyline was equally fascinating. I enjoyed reading this book.

This is one viciously mind blowing story. Dark, cruel and so out there in the methods portrayed, it is almost incomprehensible why it is so entertaining to read. You get so caught up in the story you forget the brutality these characters endure. That is truly gifted writing. I am in awe.
