With the close of 2023 I'm retiring from writing to focus on my health and family. I have thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful people encountered during my years as an author, and I will always appreciate the magic of a good story.

HOW I RATE BOOKS
5 STARS-This book is utterly brilliant. I loved it!
4 STARS-This book is better than most. I really enjoyed it and only noticed minor flaws.
3 STARS-This book is fairly good. I liked some aspects, while others didn't work for me.

If a book falls lower than 3 stars, I probably won't finish or shelve it. I'm picky and only want to remember the better ones. My ratings definitely don't reflect the objective merit of books but rather my subjective experience reading them.

4.25 Stars. This was very good. It is one of the better fantasy short stories that I have read in a while. It’s hard to do fantasy (and sci-fi) shorts because you have to fit some world building in when you have such little time. I’m happy to say that Green handled this really well. I understood her fantasy world and I got to know just enough about the magic system to be really intrigued. This story hooks you in from the first page, and that is exactly what you need a short story to do. Of course I wish the story was longer and would love to see what is next for the characters, but it really ended at the perfect spot and I feel very content with it.

This is currently free with Kindle Unlimited or just 0.99 (US) to buy. I don’t have KU right now so I bought this and IMHO it was definitely 99 cents well spent!

An Impressive Short story on Kindle Unlimited!

About an older woman trying to decide her next path in life, after having put others first, and now having the chance to do something for herself and experience new things in her twilight years.

I really loved the themes here, and the attraction sparking between Ida and Annis.

My only complaint is I totally want more!!! I want to see Ida go after her HEA with Annis! I like the potential for the story of healing and demons that pop up, and the magics existing in this kingdom world. Very fascinating, and lots of potential!

4 stars. A gorgeous little story with some really interesting themes on life. It’s only 30 pages but it’s still a really great read. I loved the writing and Ida and Annis. There’s a blooming romance there that doesn’t get explored unfortunately but everything else about this was wonderful so I didn’t mind. The ending was great and open ended. I’m pretty sure this is it but I would really love another novella to see Ida and Annis develop their romance and get their HEA.

This was a total delight - fab chemistry and characters I'd read a whole novel about. A short but very satisfying read!
