Vivi Anna is an awesome storyteller with her Valorian Chronicles and they're still running on full steam ahead with her newest offering The Vampire's Quest.
This time Kellen Falcon, former lab technician and ballistics expert of the OCU (Otherworld Crime Unit) ventures to Europe for help in his degenerative blood disease called Sangcerritus. The last time we saw him he went a bit ballistic on newcomer and human Eve Grant (who became leader Cane's wife) and the reveal came a few books back. Now we're finally getting down to the nitty gritty of how the disease works on vampires, slowly causing the poor victims to go mad.
Kellen's doctor visit turns on a sour note when a blast in the hospital nearly takes him out. Kellen survives only to become the suspect number one in the Nouveau Monde Otherworld Unit and eventually catches the eye of criminologist Sophie St. Clair who is working the case.
I was really interested in seeing how Ms. Anna not only makes Kellen a hero but also how she deals with a man on death row so to speak. Not to mention the relationship between him and a lycan woman who's father has told her before that "no alpha daughter of mine should be prancing around with a bloodsucker." There was an ongoing story arc throughout the first three books that had concluded in the last book (Veiled Truth) and I also wondered what kinds of turns this story would take in the aftermath. Ms. Anna didn't disappoint on all accounts as she adds a mixture of thrilling suspense to go with the mystery and romance.
I loved how the two units mirrored a bit of real life in how easier Otherworld and human got along in Europe. There was also a bit of real world tension between the two races of lycan and vampire not intermating due to pack politics and one not liking the other. I wonder if we'll be seeing more of Nouveau Monde in the near future. I'll definitely be a long for the ride.
If you love CSI type mysteries with a dash of romance you definitely want to pick up the Valorian Chronicles series by Vivi Anna. Each book stands alone but you'd do yourself a favor in catching up on each of the characters to see how they relate to one another throughout the books. Here's the series in order:

Vampire and bomb specialist Kellen Falcon, one of the members of the Otherworld Crime Unit (OCU) is diagnose with the rare blood disorder Sangcerritus. Kellen is determined to live and spend all of his free time to learn more about this disease. Kellen learns that there are two doctors in the world who are experts and he even heard rumors of a cure. So Kellen travels to the Otherworld European City, because one of the Doctors has his practice there.
When Kellen arrives and is waiting for his appointment with Dr. Bueller, he recognizes the ticking sound of a bomb, he is able to save the receptionist with his body, but the bomb has killed all the others. Inspector Bellmonte leads this investigation and first believe Kellen is the prime suspect, but soon discover they need his expertise to catch the bomber.
So Kellen has to work with Lycan Sophie St. Clair to pick up the pieces of the bomb and see if they can find the maker. Kellen feels attracted to Sophie, but knows that they cannot get involved with each other.
The vampire’s quest by Vivi Anna is the last novel in her Valorian Chronicles. I was surprise to see that this novel was different from the previous one. The caught the killer from the first three novels, but with Kellen being sick and needing to find a cure to live, Vivi Anna move the whole story to France where another Crime team takes the lead.
It was great to see the switch from the States Necropolis to Europe Noveveau Monde, both cities full of paranormal creature, but yet so differently. In the States humans fear the vampires, lycans and witches, when in Europe they are living together.
Kellen Falcon was not a leading character in the other novels, only the scary vampire who scare the hell out of the women, but now we know the reason why he acted that way. Kellen has the rare blood disease and no matter how much new blood you take, this disease will kill you slowly. So he travels half around the world to see a doctor who could cure him, if the rumors are true. But Kellen ends up investigating this doctor’s death and catching a terrorist killer on the way. The attraction between Kellen and Sophie is huge, but both deny their feelings for several reasons; Sophie’s family will never accept a vampire in their lycan family and Kellen’s disease makes it difficult to make plans for the future. But we all know that love has a mind of its own.
I really believe this novel is a great ending to this series, most of the team members of the Otherworld Crime Unit have found the love of their life and I loved reading them.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Great writing and very personable characters. I love Kellen and Sophie! A definite Romeo and Juliet feel - vampires vs lycans though. Two different bombers are loose in France and Kellen and Sophie (both cops) are working to solve both cases. A great mystery and of course adversity as Kellen has a blood disease which is slowing killing him. The race is on to solve the bombings before anyone else gets killed AND to find a cure and save Kellen's life. Good stuff!

Book 4 in the Valorian/Otherworld Crime Unit series. Kellan who is a vampire and former lab technician to the OCU is trying to solve a rare blood disease comes to the Nouveau Monde Otherworld Unit and meets Sophie St Clair who is a werewolf and works with the Nouveau Monde Otherworld Unit. We learn the disease slowly makes vampires go mad and he wants to save himself and his race. The 2 work together after Kellan is almost killed by a bomb that goes off after Kellan has a dr apt and was a suspect at first. Great book and great addition to the series!

I truly love this series and how the author incorporates CSI tactics in her Paranormal Stories. I can't wait to read the next one.

Kellen, a vampire with a rare blood disease meets Sophie a Lycan who is trying to steer clear of Vampires; When they are forced to work together to solve random bombings that have been going off in areas that they have recently visited the sparks start flying & They try to resist each other.
It was a little repetative; if I had to read one more time that Sophie's pack did not approve of her dating a vampire I was going to scream!!! :) I get the point! Lycan + Vampire= NONO!!
Other than that it was a good quick read.

As a fan of reading the short Mills & Boon books as a divider between larger more intense novels, I was pleasantly surprised with this one. This was Mills and Boon meets fantasy and vampires, a brilliant page turner, demolished in just over an hour.
Not reading the previous stories in the Valorian Chronicles, I was not familiar with the characters but this did not effect the enjoyment of book.
If you like fantasy and mass market paperback romance, you will certainly enjoy this. Be aware that the adult scenes are not your standard "cute" romance.

Book 4 in the Valorian Chronicles, although I'm not sure why it's not called the Necropolis Chronicles since that's the name of the city that they all live in. This wasn't bad for a Harlequin Romance although I was a little shocked to find that this was less steamy than a great deal of the "regular" paranormal romance books out there. I'd be willing to read more of this series if I tripped across them.

One of the better romances I've read lately. I liked the vampire/werewolf story line. The love scenes were steeeaaamy!! I left myself blushing, definitely nsfw! I did feel it kinda wrapped up too quickly and could have used a few more chapters. I have not read the other books in the series but now probably will look for one next time I go to the library.

"The Vampire's Quest" is a fast pace, well written book; however, I'm not too sure if what came first: "The Vampire's Quest" or "Twilight."
This book so much reminded me of "Twilight," I wasn't sure what I was reading.
The plot was good, but finished early only to allow the story continue it's love line.
If you're into paranormal romance, then this book is for you.

ok this one had me crying at the end. The story was wonderful and the reason it didn't get 5 stars is because it felt too short and rushed.

The Valorian Chronicles are a fast paced, easy read for any PNR fan. I really enjoyed this story of bad-boy Kellen finally finding love and living his life.
