When U.S. Marshal Alexa Chase arrests gang-members in a routine drug seizure, she thinks nothing of it—until she realizes there’s far more to the drug-killings than meets the eye. A member of their gang has gone off the rails, morphed into a psychotic serial killer, and Alexa will have to navigate the treacherous gang-world to find him and save the next victim before it’s too late.
Alexa Chase, 34, a brilliant profiler in the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit, was too good at her job. Haunted by all the serial killers she caught, she left a stunning career behind to join the U.S. Marshals. As a Deputy Marshal, Alexa—fit, and as tough as she is brilliant—could immerse herself in a simple career of hunting down fugitives and bringing them to justice.
But with her recent work a big success, the FBI and the Marshals have decided to make their joint-task force permanent. Alexa, reeling from her own traumatic past and her PTSD of hunting serial killers, has no choice: she will now have to work with an FBI partner she dislikes and hunt down serial killers whose jurisdiction intertwines with that of the U.S. Marshals. Alexa finds herself forced to confront the thing she dreads the most—entering a killer’s mind.
As Alexa dives deeper into the case, she realizes that she’s not the only one who wants this serial killer stopped: the gangs, too, want him brought under control. But she’ll have to navigate the treacherous gang underworld to find him, and the people leading her may be the people she can trust least of all.
Is she just leading herself deeper into danger?
Or will the killer come for her next?
A page-turning and harrowing crime thriller featuring a brilliant and tortured Deputy Marshal, the ALEXA CHASE series is a riveting mystery, packed with non-stop action, suspense, twists and turns, revelations, and driven by a breakneck pace that will keep you flipping pages late into the night.

Okay so I had mixed feelings about this one at first. It was really hard to get into. Like I started it, got three chapters in, then didn’t listen to it for like two weeks and then I started it over like a few days ago and oh my goodnESS this is SO GOOD. Okay so a few thoughts!
Alexa is such a baddie but at the same time she’s scaring me with how many risks she’s taking in this one. Like doesn’t she care at all about staying alive? It’s like she thinks she’s invincible but girl you could die at any moment and the only reason you’re not is because of a little thing called ✨plot armor✨, yk, being the MC and everything. Okay but idk if Stu has plot armor, like he’s also an MC but I feel like he’s unsafe 😭. So yeah, Lexi babe chill, tell your PARTNER where you’re GOING when you’re being WATCHED BY THE KILLER??? Girly
Oof the Perez chapters were sick. Like what a loser. I don’t even feel any pity for you fool, what an idiot! Like I don’t care if you have a “sad backstory” you could get help and not turn into a serial killer/rapist/gang leader? How about we try some therapy? Hahaa
Okay so at first this was hard to get into bc I don’t like a book with a lot of like foreign language and no explanation of what it means? Like I know a lot of ppl know Spanish but I don’t, and the accents through me off and I didn’t understand half the names or anything that was being said. But it’s okay, this book ate
OKAY I LOVE HOW I’M NOT DELULU BECAUSE ITS CONFIRMED!!! ALEXA IS ATTRACTED TO STUARTT EEEP I HOPE ITS RECIPROCATED SOOOOONNN HEHEEE
Also Stacy?!! GIRL PLS BE OKAY IM SO SCARED FOR HERR. OOF HOW DO I NOT START THE NEXT ONE RIGHT AWAY AFTER THAT CLIFFHANGER
P.S. was powers a psycho too?! His journals make it seem so! Also I feel like Alexa is losing her grip on sanity more and more! Eep! What another great book in this phenomenal series!

I would really give this book ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 stars. I did not like this one as much as the previous 3. There seemed to be a disconnect between Deputy US Marshal Alexa Chase and FBI Special Agent Stuart Bennett in this one that really doesn’t seem to get resolved. Also, I find it a little hard to believe that Alexa would go off on her own to investigate some hardened criminals. I can only hope the next book will be better
I have been reading the Alexa Chase series as a filler in-between new books being published and all of them have been disappointing.
This book killed the series for me even though there are a couple more. I keep hoping for an improvement in the story lines but am consistently disappointed. She is with a swat team to take down a drug dealing gang when she is told by the "leader" that he has a info on a serial killer to trade for a reduced sentence. He knows where some bodies are as this guy was former cartel and has gone "off the rails". Alexa (US Marshall) who is known to continue to investigate even when told to stand down, and Stuart ( her FBI partner) track the killer and are always behind. The trail even takes them to Mexico but the results are not what Alexa expects.
Neighbor now 14yr old Stacey is still part of the story and is now a secretive, lying teenager. Why Alexa feels she needs to be a "big sis or mother" to this teen is just not rational.
Alexa left the FBI so she could stop entering the serial killers' minds but that's exactly what happens when as a US Marshal she is asked to stay permanently in the joint force with the FBI. She has to face her fears and at The Killing Point, she is after drug dealers and a serial killer. She is asked to make a deal with one of the drug lords and ends up receiving dead-end leads and realizes that not only the law wants the killer dead the drug lords do as well. The plot is full of action, mystery, and suspense, and is guaranteed entertainment! I received a free copy of this book as a member of the author's ARC team, and this is my honest review.
Wasn’t my favorite so far. The first 3 were more interesting and I wanted to know what happened. This one I was lost here and there, too much happening.
This series was slumping at the half way point with the last book, but this one is a definite improvement. This returns to the fast paced action I love that existed within the first two books.
Alexa's armor slips a little as well, granting us a look in to what she's feeling outside of her projected image. Character development has been severely lacking in the last few books, so this was a nice change. She also finally confronts her sister-in-law and I was so rooting for her! Stuart's character remains a bit of a bust and I'm losing hope that we will get much more development on him at all.
The plot was a bit different this time which changed the formula up and I liked the villain in this one. Alexa did some stupid things that I don't think a trained specialist in her position would do, which I did find frustrating. Some aspects are a tad far-fetched, but nothing blaringly off the rails.
Solid 3/5. This series still doesn't do much to absolutely wow you, but I'm happy to see things were changed up a bit and this series isn't continuing to rapidly spiral downwards.
