Such a brilliant little short. Timeline wise this fits in right at the end of Magic Bleeds when Curran wakes up and finds out exactly what has been happening to Kate while he was out for the count. I absolutely LOVED seeing him rip the council members a new one, he certainly put them in their place and it was a well deserved put down.
It was also great to see him make a stand against Mahon, those two have a father/son bond but Mahon can be such an arsehole and he definitely let Curran down at the end of Magic Bleeds so they needed to work things through.
I've read this scene before. I think it was part of the book. It's when Curran's awakens and finds out that Kate had to fight 22 challenges. I felt this was more of a betrayal by supposed friends myself but it ended kind of lighthearted. 4 stars
This short scene takes place at the end of Magic Bleeds. Curran finally wakes after being unconscious for 11 days. When he discovers how the Pack has treated Kate, he feels deep disappointment and completely betrayed. When he confronts all the Alphas of the Clans that make up the Pack, none of them will meet his eyes. It's at that point that Curran realizes that no matter how much of himself he gives to the pack, it will never be enough. He's most disappointed in Mahon, whom he thought he could trust to have his back. The two end up having a battle royale and Curran proves, once and for all, who the King of the Beasts really is and who is really in charge. This sets the stage for something that will happen later in the series.
Nice little addition to the Magic Bleeds story: based on what others have described, this is the one where Curran wakes up, puts an end to the challenges to Kate, and has a "I'm going to show you why I'm the Beast Lord" fight with Mahon.
The easiest (and IMO best) way to get many of the little extra bits like this one is to get the book "Small Magics". This episode is named "Awake" in that collection.
There are a few add-ons that aren't included here, you have to get them from the authors' website. As far as I'm aware, these are the missing items: No Heroes (about Conlan); Purpose (follows Wilmington 2); Sandra (apparently occurs between Wilmington 1 & 2); The King of Fire (about Julie, seems to precede Blood Heir).
I didn't like this as much as the first Curran POV we got. It was a bit confusing. I am probably being stupid, but I didn't even remember who Mahon was from the regular books so that left me feeling a bit "huh".
But it was still interesting to see the dynamics between Curran and his foster father, even if it was a bit confusing.
Overall, this was okay, but I wish we just would've gotten more Curran POV's from moments he was with Kate.

I didn't think reading from Curran's point of view would be so much fun :D It's kind of nice seeing things from his perspective and I love how he talks and thinks of Kate, it's so cute :D Still, I would definitely say Kate's POV is better and she is way more hilarious than him :D I'm definitely reading the rest of the Curran POV scenes :)
Curran's POV definitely adds way more nuance to the relationship he and Kate have, but it doesn't have the depth of narrative like the main series books do.
It was too short, the first POV was a collection from Curran's view from the first time he met Kate in book one to the last book five. This book was based on his view point only from book five after he woke up. I enjoyed the detail very mini story but I think it was short and most of what was written I got for free when I read it from her website so to have brought it from Amazon just to find out it was sort of the same thing and nothing more, I was disappointed. So, my advice/opinion would be to read it for free from her website don't buy.
Liked it better than the first Curran POV. Mostly because it's companion scenes instead of the same scenes from a different POV. I always wondered what happened on that Council meeting, and am glad and grateful I got to see it.
But also because the writing seemed more polished, and it was a complete short story, not only a scene.
Yes I did call this story a saga. I'm sad that the Husband and Wife duo are ending Kate and Curran's story line, but I can't wait to read about all the other characters that They introduced in the other novels.
Curran wakes up after 11 days of being hurt and unconscious to find that his pack has challenged Kate. That makes for an upset Alpha and Mate. Short but sweet!
Oh, the story of Curran after recovering, learning of the 22 challenges that Kate faced in his recovery! And oh, the battle between him and Mahon! Brutal, man!
Nice quick read (20 pages) where we get to see Curran's POV from the time he wakes up and hears what his mate Kate has had to cope with for 2 weeks. Can't wait until the next book in this series!
