Beth studied English at university before going into children’s publishing. She lives as close to the countryside as she can get while still being within reach of London, and wrote her first novel, The Flatshare, on her train journey to and from work. You’ll usually find her curled up with a book, a cup of tea, and several woolly jumpers (whatever the weather).
This was a lovely extra to The Road Trip, a follow on to how the four old friends get back from Scotland after the wedding. It’s just such a shame it’s only two chapters long.
You follow Addie and Deb who are finally having their sisterly road trip that they planned to have from the beginning, whilst Dylan and Marcus travel to the airport with the bride and groom of the wedding to fly back to London. I don’t want to say anything else that may spoil The Road Trip for anyone who hasn’t read it yet, but it is honestly a great follow up!
I love Beth O’Learys writing, I love the style of switching between the characters for each chapter. I love this addition to The Road Trip, but it’s just a shame it’s not longer.
Wow. Only 10 pages long, but this actually made me like Marcus. Who knew. Seriously though, this was funny. If you haven't read "The Road Trip" you won't get this at all, but this takes place after the wedding. A great way to follow up with Addie and Dylan. I seriously wanted to read more when I was done with this. The main reason why I didn't give this one 5 stars, is it just feels like a very abrupt ending. Think another chapter with Addie and Dylan back together again would have been a nice wrap-up.
I read The Road Trip earlier in the year and this book of only two chapters was written after it so the readers knew how they got home after the road trip to the wedding. It also resolved what happened with the stalker so glad I read it.
This is very cute. It is also, unfortunately, very short.
But I can't help reading extra material when I see it, so if you were also a kid who did things like watch all the bonus features on every DVD you owned, this kind of thing could be for you. Also, I just love love.
I love that O'Leary writes these mini-chapters and posts them online! So much better than being pressured by fans to write a follow-up book that has no reason to exist. And this doesn't ruin the ending to the Roadtrip, which was perfect.
A super short (REALLY SHORT!) after story from The Road Trip. I did not know this story existed for the longest time and then I had a hard time finding a copy. Well I finally found a copy and read it and it was sweet & funny. But useless as a standalone. I'm not sure why this wasn't included in the original novel, The Road Trip, as an epilogue or a bonus extra.
Me vs loving Dylan and Addie with every fibre of my being. These bonus chapters were so incredibly cute, and I wish they had been included as an epilogue! The poems they wrote each other were so fun and silly, and I can't wait for them to spend the rest of their lives together, as they deserve!!
I just wish this could have been a bit longer ☹️ what really happened with Rodney? Did Grace and Marcus end up together? So many questions & no answers 😩
