She’s spent ninety-nine years in the Talon Pack, not part of the hierarchy, and not quite old enough to be elder.
She’s the wolf no one remembers.
With a rogue on the loose and the winter season approaching, two wolves who promised they would never fall find themselves on the brink of doing what could cost them the most.
Each other.

The Montgomery Ink World contains the following series, though each series is a stand alone and can be read in any order. Feel free to hop around:
When I read MATED IN DARKNESS, which was Kaylee Jamenson's story I couldn't wait to read her twin brother Conner's story because in that one we learn that he found his mate at the same time his sister did but didn't get his story but now we have it and I am oh soooo glad we do because I absolutely love his mate Romy.
Romy Temple has been alone for a long time, all of her family and friends have been killed off by wars and sacrifice so for this 99 year old wolf that is usually a pack creature that craves contact being alone or at least holding herself apart from others for so long is risky. Especially now because something is causing lone wolves to go rogue and she is at risk and so is Conner.
Conner and Romy have an instant connection but it's one that was greater than the two of them, and when I say that I mean it...read the book to find out exactly how fated these two are!
If you enjoy Steamy paranormal romances, fated mate romances, or are looking for something that you can read in an afternoon that will open you up to a world of more goodness I would highly recommend this book to you. FATED IN WINTER is book 11 in the TALON PACK SERIES but it can be read as a standalone, if you want to begin the series at the beginning there are two starting points. Book 1 is the original Talon Pack and Book 10 starts the Next Generation so you can decide on where you would like to begin, or like I said just jump into this one and whet your whistle, you won't be disappointed.
This was a great story about two wolves who are battling their own inner demons, but find peace together. Conner is trying to keep his wolf calm and content, while Romy is struggling to find her place in her pack. When these meet there is definitely attracted, but don’t want to get to attached. When they are tasked to work together, they can no longer deny the pull. I really enjoyed them and how they were so perfect for each other.
Fated in Winter is a sweet tale of two lonely souls finding each other. Conner may be part of a big family and has a close connection to his twin but his fight with his wolf has him fearing for his sanity. His biggest fear is hurting someone he loves. That means he won’t be searching out his mate. Romy has lost everyone she’s ever loved. They’ve been killed by war and crazy alphas. Leaving her with no contemporaries. She is afraid to love anyone for fear that they too will be taken from her. The Moon Goddess has other plans for them and it all comes together this Yule tide. I really enjoyed watching Conner and Romy overcome their fears and let love in.
5 INCREDIBLE STARS!! Another incredible story in this amazing series. I loved Connor and To my they sucked me into their story. You must read this book and series.
Romy and Connor's story was another great addition to this series. I love how they were both so guarded and against falling, but they had no choice but to fall. Their story was unique but still had aspects of this series which make it wonderful. I definitely recommend reading this book.
I think the audio version of this book was well done. The narration was perfect for the story and I enjoyed listening to it.
Conner Jameson, Kaylee's (MATED IN DARKNESS) twin brother wasn't handling missing her very good. He had other siblings but the bond he shared with his twin was much stronger. He accepted that now she was mated to an acquaintance of the Starlight's Alpha even though he wanted her there with him. He knew that someday he would become a rogue wolf so he made himself a promise to never risk his mate no matter what.
While out with his brother Nico, they came across a rogue wolf, he had to defend himself and their territory. During the battle he lost his footing and fell off the cliff only to be saved by Romy who was tracking the rogue.
Romy Temple, a Wolf shifter and a Talon who knew what it was like to feel lonely despite being surrounded by loved ones. She was tracking a rogue wolf when she had to change her plans in order to come to a handsome as sin shifter.
Both Conner and Romy were giving a task by their mutual Betas. As they worked together to achieve the task, they found themselves growing closer and closer. They had so much in common, they finally realized what was missing in their lives, each other.
When danger came at them, they fought side-by-side and they were a force to be reckoned with. They completed their task, took care of the danger and found their place within their Packs. It was a treat to catch up with some old characters and meet new ones.
FATED IN WINTER is the eleventh installment in Carrie Ann Ryan's TALON PACK series. It was fast-paced, fascinating and very intriguing. Carrie Ann Ryan did a magnificent job. You guys should give this book a try. Two thumbs up! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
**** I received this book, without any obligation to review.****
In this quick read we get Conner Jameson's story! Conner is fighting his inner wolf and just prays he can keep in control and not turn rogue. He knows he will never be able to mate because of his wolf. Romy is a Talon pack member who lost everything. There are no others close to her age, and even while surrounded by people she loves-she is lonely. When Conner almost falls over a cliff during a fight with a rogue, it is Romy who comes to his rescue. And when they are tasked with putting together a Yule party, they learn what they mean to each other and how to trust someone else to be there.
I really wanted to know more about Conner after reading his sister Kaylee's book. And it in no way disappoints! Conner struggles with control and fears what it will do to not only him but his family if he loses it. Never fully realizing exactly what he (and his wolf) need. Romy went through horrific things and is lonely. But she is strong and always steps up when she is needed. These two are exactly what the other needs! I love how they come together and work things out. The way that mating's have changed makes certain things difficult but when people find their mates, it just makes them know that they are truly with the one they are meant to be with. This is a short story, so be aware of that when reading it. But even for being short, it is so well worth the read!
I really enjoyed this story and getting to see Connor's story. Connor has been holding himself back some because he is scared he might end up going rogue due to the strength of his wolf, especially with the uptick of rogues that is happening. I adored the way that Romy and Connor came together. They are both scared and not looking for a mate at this time, due to different reasons but they have that connection. I loved how their wolves reached for each other and I loved the little twists that happen regarding mating and the 2 packs but can't give details due to spoilers but it will be very interesting to see how that moves forward in this world. This story had plenty to grab and hold your attention throughout the short story. We get to see action, intrigue and the relationship build between our couple. We also get to see some familiar faces from the series which is always a great bonus if you have read the books. I loved watching Connor and Romy find peace together and hope for what the future is bringing them rather than listening to their inner demons and worries. I can't wait to see what comes next in this world and am very excited for the Aspen pack. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
Book 10 Talon Pack by Carrie Ann Ryan Kaylee is a Jamenson and Redwood pack tracker, she goes in search of a member that’s gone rogue and missing. Jason is a human scientist who is working with the Starlight pack trying to figure out what’s turning wolves into rogues. I love that Jason is human to start off with in this book and a relationship very quickly I love how the Talon and the Redwood packs in to have completely merged now even though they still see in a separate packed their interlinked so much between me and couples that they are found like one but with different offers I do love the big family feel about it. Carrie Ann Ryan always picks the best narrators for her books and it just approved it so much absolutely love listening to all her audiobooks even the contemporary and the shifter series highly recommend all of them.
Fated in Winter (short story and end of book) This is a short story that’s at the end of the audiobook still with the same narrators and it’s about Connor Kayleigh’s twin and how he meets his mate. Again it’s a Talon and Redwood crossover absolutely love the way it develops Connor as a character and introduces Romy look forward to more
Welcome back to the Redwood and Talon packs and the Christmas season.
What do you get when you mix rogue wolves, party planning, and two stubborn wolves?
Conner Jamenson is an enforcer within the Redwood pack, trying to track down a rogue pack member—while harboring the fear that one day his family will be tracking him.
Romy Temple keeps to the shadows of Talon pack, even as she offers to help track rogue wolves.
They’re tasked with planning a large Yule party, and that’s when they stumble upon the biggest ‘secret’ of all…
What is the secret? Will they manage to pull off planning a ‘surprise’ party? Can they find and save their rogue pack mate?
The answers lie within the pages of ‘Fated in Winter’, a novella set within the Redwood and Talon packs world.
I loved this story, and catching up with the packs. While it is a stand-alone novella—it probably wouldn’t hurt for one to binge read the Talon pack series to get all the details on the hierarchy of the packs.
I give ‘Fated in Winter’ five out of five stars and highly recommend it to anyone who loves paranormal romance and wolves.
Conner struggles everyday with the knowledge he might go rogue one day and wouldn't risk his mate to his fate. Romy has spent 99 years blending in the background of the Talon pack dealing with the guilt that she is the only remaining member of her generation to have survived a brutal alpha, wars, and sacrifice. Conner and Romy are given the task of putting together the Yule celebration for the alphas of the Redwood and Talon packs. As Romy and Conner spend time together putting together the Yule celebration, they grow closer and their attraction grows as they realize they are potential mates. Will Romy and Conner give into their attraction and mate? Can Conner break down Romy's walls? Can Romy and Conner find the rogue Redwood before it is too late? Can Romy and Conner put together a Yule celebration that will show the alphas what they mean to their packs? I loved Conner and Romy! Conner and Romy are a great couple who make each other stronger through their love and bond. I would definitely recommend getting Fated in Winter by Carrie Ann Ryan. I received an ARC copy of this book, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
Great Addition to the Redwood Pack/Talon Pack Series!
Connor is missing his twin Kaylee who is with her mate in Texas. His wolf is restless and getting harder to control. With the increase of wolf’s going rogue Connor is afraid that may be where he is headed.
Romy is a member of the Talon pack and since the Great War where all of her family and friends were killed she has secluded herself from the pack. She thinks if she doesn’t get close to anyone then it won’t hurt if they get killed. She is turning 100 soon and the depression is getting to her. Romy saves Connor from falling over a cliff when he was chasing a rogue wolf. There is an instant attraction but both are afraid to do anything about it. With a little help from their Alphas, they are forced to work together and from there the Moon Goddess took over.
This was a wonderfully written book full of emotions. It will pull at your heartstrings! Don’t’s miss it!
I received an ARC copy of this book and am leaving a voluntary review.
Book 11 of the Talon Pack! For a novella, Carrie Ann Ryan sure did pack a lot in to this book. We get another Redwood-Conner + Talon-Romy match!! Each are feeling lonely - Conner is missing his twin (who is married now) and Romy missing her family that passed away & feeling like no one has really noticed her. They meet while chasing a rogue wolf & Romy ends up saving Conner from almost going over a cliff. From there, they end up being friends and very much interested in the other. He believes she is his mate from the start. For her, it takes her a little bit longer to accept that possibility. We learn why Romy has some doubts & finds it hard to trust others. Her story was beautifully written by Carrie Ann Ryan. Once Romy weeds through the baggage of her past, she starts to heal and lets her heart open up to Conner and to their HEA. Love how Carrie Ann weaved characters from the past books into this book. Looking forward to the next line up with the Aspen Pack.
4.5 Stars This is book 11 in the Talon Pack series and it features Conner, Redwood pack and Romy, Talon pack. This story is about learning to live again. It’s about learning to trust in a future and about not being alone. These two are separately chasing down a rogue wolf. Why there are more wolves going rogue, they haven’t figured out yet. They meet and are thrown together by their perspective packs, to plan a Yule surprise party for their alphas. Why them? Only the moon goddess knows! Their wolves made them more aware of their attraction right away but they fought it. Their separate pasts make it difficult to believe in something good. Their wolves/moon goddess have other plans.
Fabulous story line! As always, the characters are amazing. When these characters pair off in twos or threes, their love is truly forever. It’s a beautiful thing to watch. I can’t wait for more!
Connor, from the Redwood pack, is struggling with the fear of going rogue and the fact his twin sister has mated. While hanging out with is brother on the cliffs, he senses a friend who has gone rogue stalking him causing him to shift to his wolf form. As they begin to fight, he loses is footing and begins to fall over the cliff. Deciding he has a better chance of surviving, he shifts back to human form. That's when he meets Romy.
Romy is a part of the Talon pack but spends most of her time alone. After losing sight of the rogue wolf she was chasing, she finds Connor hanging off the side of the cliff. Once pulled to safety, they continue to pursue the rogue wolf. As they spend more time together, their wolves realize they are mates without actually marking each other. As the bond between their wolves is too strong, they decide to make the mating bond permanent by marking each other. Romy is no longer alone and Conner's fears of going rogue have disappeared and they both get their HEA.
For the audio version, Aiden Snow and Kit Swann did an awesome job.
I first read this chapter by chapter as Carrie Ann published them in her newsletter and I was so excited to read it all at one time!! Conner is struggling without his twin and his fear of turning rogue, though he keeps that to himself. Romy has lost everything, her family and her entire pack. She feels like she really doesn't belong in her current pack, or really anywhere. They would rather work alone, but a chance meeting, where Romy saves Conner, and now a direct order from each pack has them working together. Neither has ever felt the pull with anyone else and their wolves will not let that feeling go. Can they fight their own demons while trying to track down a rouge packmate? The Moon Goddess has plans for them whether they willing cooperate or not! This is at times heartbreaking, but so tender and sweet and passionate....I loved this so much!
So good. Conner and Romy's story is sweet. Conner is a wolf that shifts extremely fast but its extremely painful too (not too many people know this though). He's terrified he is going to turn rogue. Romy is almost 100 years old and a bit of a loner. She saves his life and then their two Betas from each ot their packs charge them with have a yule party as a surprise for the Alphas. neither are too happy about it, but they weren't given a choice either. They get to know each other and then the Moon Goddess pulls a fast one on them and surprises both of them. It was great seeing old friends from the packs and getting back to the paranormal of the wolves. I got this book from the author and am voluntarily leaving a review
This is a novella with so much intensity packed into it! Romy feels almost forgotten, not really knowing where in the pack she stands. While Conner knows exactly where he stands in his pack but holds onto the fear that he will turn rogue like so many others have lately. While his twin sister has recently mated (Mated in Darkness), Conner does not believe he can risk having a mate.
They first meet while hunting a rogue wolf and then they are thrown together by their packs that need them to work together on another project. Both unsure of each other and fighting their attraction they learn start to trust and heal. But this is more than a short, sweet love story. There is plenty of action within the story and I could not put my kindle down.
Even though he is surrounded by family Conner is feeling alone as not only has his twin found her mate, but he is pursuing a rogue wolf from their pack. He and the Redwood pack don’t know what is causing the wolves to go rogue and he fears that it could happen to him as well.
Romy is part of the Talon pack however she has distanced herself emotionally from the others due to all the loss she has endured in her life. When she and Conner find themselves working together even though they are unable to deny their feelings for each other they agree not to complete the bond to become mates however fate may have other ideas.
Hot chemistry, suspense and two characters who are destined to be together
Conner & Romy Two of the most stubborn wolfs you will ever come across ! Conner is the enforcer of the red wood pack he has lived his whole life thinking he would die alone no mate to share his life with because he thinks he will one day go rogue so he never wants to have the solid connection to any one. Romy has been alone for 99 years all her family and friends have been gone for a long time now. Romy is a wolf who loves to be part of the pack but she has been holding back going against her nature to stay somewhat apart from others. Neither Conner or Romy can escape the intense chemistry between mates but will they let them selfs find the peace they both grave ? You have to read their story !!
Loved this!!! This is the 11th book in the Talon Pack. Connor worries that he could turn rogue and Remy is very lonely. She has lost her family and tends to stick to herself since she has lost so much, she is the wolve that no know remembers. But with a rogue on the loose , winter season approaching they are paired to work on the yule celebration by their alphs and they find themselves doing the one thing they both avoided for their own reasons. Their wolves are stronger than they know and bond starts between them. Such a great read. This story really pulls at ya. They both feel like they aren't worthy, like they scared of what could be or what they could loose if not, they both feel like they can't have what is right in front of them. In the end love conquers all.
Connor and Romy hadn’t even known each other until she saved his life. Conor is from the Talon Pack. Romy’s whole pack had all been killed and didn’t even know where she belonged. Though all the packs were coming together through mating mostly, and were becoming one pack slowly. They become mates, but not through the normal way. Such odd things are happening. But there is trouble on the horizon brewing. A lot of wolves are going rogue, but they don’t know why. This is not solved in this book, and I’m looking forward to when and how it is, and how it is stopped. They all come together for the Yule celebration as one.
Fated In Winter by Carrie Ann Ryan is part of the Talon Pack series and gives us Connor and Romy’s story. Though I have read the last few books in the series, I still have to go back and start from the beginning but did not feel lost. Romy and Connor are part of different packs but when they stumbled into each other, their connection is undeniable. They are both lone wolfs who never expected to find someone, but can they open up to each other? They are lonely, but do not trust easily as they have been hurt before and have lost many they loved. As they begin to spend time together, feelings begin to emerge. I loved their story, as it was sweet and touching.
This is a fabulous short story that was originally included in the Shifters & Mistletoe Anthology.
We yet again see the connections between the Redwood and the Talon packs, as two members are asked to prepare a surprise Yule party for the two alphas.
Neither Romy nor Connor had realised how lonely or touch-starved they had become, and an instant attraction and potential mate highlights what is missing in their lives and how important they could be, or already are, to each other.
A lovely story, which demonstrates the connection between packs in the region and gets us anticipating the next stories to come.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
This is the 11th Talon book, but features one of the Redwood next generation. After Kaylee was mated in Mated in Darkness, we found out her twin Connor also found his mate. Mated in Darkness is Connor's story. This book is the same timeframe as Kaylee's, but set in the Redwood and Talon packs. Romy is isolated from her pack as she is what really remains of the pack during Talons darker times. Romy is hesitant because it has been a while since she was part of anything and Connor is hesitant because he is afraid of turning rouge. This is a great read and I hope to see more of the Redwood kids get mates.
This book was a quick and enjoyable read. Even though I'm not caught up on this series I thought that this one was still easy to read without knowing the full extent of the Redwood and Talon packs. Conner was afraid that he was going to go rogue and Remy needed someone to keep hold of with her whole family gone. They were forced together to plan a Yule celebration and discovered their connection during that. So not only is this book a great quick romance it is also technically a Christmas romance without all of the typical Christmas trope. If you're looking for a short shifter story this is one for you! *I received an ARC for an honest review*
CONNOR!!!! Yes, I yelled it when I saw his story was here, and that was layered on with the excitement that Carrie Ann gave us more shifters <3 Connor and Romy, oh, my heart broke for them. Connor so concerned, Romy so desolate, thanks goddess the Beta’s did what they did. These two needed each other more than any other, and I felt the emotions right along with them. The pain and hurt, the confusion, the acceptance, the attraction, the relief, and the love. This may be a novella, but it packed a punch, and these two took me from tears to smiles, and I couldn’t be happier for them <3
Fated In Winter is book 11 in the Talon Pack Series. Two of Conner Jameson’s greatest fears is going rouge and hurting his mate. Romy Temple survived the original pack wars and has been staying under everyone’s radar for the past 99 years. By a fluke chance Romy saves Conner from a fall and later they are brought together to organize an event. They go through a wide range of emotions but in the end they realize they are fated mates and they balance each other beautifully. Can’t wait to see where the next book takes us!
Connor and Romy's story really tugged my heartstrings. They both seem like such lost souls, neither ready for or feeling worthy of a mate. When their alpha's put them together to work on a project magic happens! Confidence, a sense of fulfillment and love infuses them. They are so damn sweet together. Along with that wonderfulness their story is also full of danger, mystery and suspense as they try to catch a feral wolf and figure out how wolves are being turned. I received this ARC and this is my honest review.
Connor and Romy get their story told in this emotion packed novella, a quick and engaging nugget in the Talon world. I loved these two characters and at first wished their story was longer. But their connection was so deep, the length was perfect to concentrate almost solely on them finding each other. Even surrounded by both Talon and Redwood pack members, Connor and Romy individually struggle to find their emotional place within. That missing piece brings them together to not just give them peace, but make them stronger. What a lovely love letter to fans of this wonderful series!
