Only a bad nanny knows what it’s like to kiss the boss.

CEO millionaire, Max Fletcher is a single dad in desperate need of a nanny.

Cozy Barlow is in the middle of her self-appointed “gap year” and doing everything she can to detach from her past.

But when her sister begs her to interview for the nanny position of a high maintenance client, she doesn’t have a good enough reason to say no.

And when Max locks eyes on the twenty-something in a tie-dye sweatsuit who pitches the idea of daydreaming all summer—he prepares to give this bad nanny the boot.

One problem: Max’s little girl thinks this plus-sized in body and spirit nanny might be her new bestie, so she hires her on the spot.

Now Max is stuck with this bizarre woman who hates everything he represents—corporate greed, money, status, power.

But one stormy night when the power goes out, he discovers Cozy doesn’t hate him. In fact, he’s the leading role in her fantasies.
Fantasies, he would very much like to make a reality.

Urgh!
I usually enjoy Amy Daws’s books so much. Her writing style, flawed yet sweet characters, progressive thinking and humour usually slap me right in the feels. This is the first book of hers I’ve ever rated lower than a 4 star, but alas...
I was waiting patiently for this book to come out, I thought Daws would stay in the Harris world forever and never finish this series, which is part of the reason why I was disappointed with this book. Don’t get me wrong, this was, in essence, a cute story. It was a grumpy/sunshine, age gap, single dad trope, which is one of my personal favourites.
The characters were well developed and Everly was the cutest and sweetest kid character. We get nice updates from past characters in the series and a satisfying epilogue, so if you have been following the series it might be worth reading this one. All that being said, this book didn’t quite resonate for me for the following two main reasons:
1. Max gave me serious whip lash. I get that he was struggling with commitment issues because of his first marriage but his actions kept contradicting themselves as he went back and forth and back and forth again with what he wanted from Cassandra. One page he was all ‘we need rules to this so we don’t get attached’ the next page ‘fuck the rules, let’s just follow our hearts’ but then the next chapter back to ‘Everly is the only relationship I need in my life’ but then ‘I’m obsessed with you, I demand that you go on a date with me’ I’m paraphrasing the exact quotes but you get the gist. I needed him to make up his mind sooner and to stop going back on what he wanted. Once was enough. He was supposed to be this strong accomplished older man but he couldn’t get a handle on what he wanted from Cozy and it got annoying pretty quickly.

2. The most annoying and distracting part of this book for me was Cozy’s constant insecurities and fat-shaming inner critic. If you go through my highlights you will see how this dominated the narrative for at least 80% of the book. I get that she was plus sized and I appreciate that a character can have some insecurities that she can overcome through her character arc, but in this book it was overwhelming and incessant. It got really old really fast. In one breath she would say she was happy with her body, yet in the next she thought she was too fat for Max to want. Like many, many times. ‘Max probably dated size 0 models’ ‘Max could get someone way hotter than me’ even when Max gave every indication that he was INCREDIBLY into her curves she kept on with it. And adding to that, the constant negative body shaming of slimmer women was frankly insulting. Not just curvy girls are reading this. Calling athletic women gym rats or implying that thinner women are always starving is misogyny. One woman’s worth is NEVER elevated by demeaning another woman. I was incredibly disappointed in Daws when I read these moments. She went out of her way to be inclusive to lesbian and pansexual characters, to introduce topics like forced heteronormativity on lesbian women and yet slapped down differently sized women in her next breath. Come on! Do better Ms Daws. If you read my highlights you will see that I’m not exaggerating. It was a big part of the narrative for Cozy’s character.
Anyway if that stuff bothers you, I’d avoid this one as it is prevalent throughout.
Ok done rant.

So a cute story with a loveable kid character, great side characters who were obvious set up for the next series but not done so overtly that it pulled you away from the story. Great back stories on both Max and Cozy to explain their issues and good HEA. But problematic portions that were annoying and distracting enough to reduce my enjoyment of this one.

"And you reminded me that forgiving my past to chase after a new future could be fucking worth it."
Amy Daws has outdone herself with this book. Not only is it a wonderful story, but the heroine was inspiring. Thank you so much, Amy, for writing a plus-sized heroine with all the sass who is nothing short of amazing. And Max? Max is a total dreamboat.
Amy has become one of my one-click authors, and I may not have read her entire backlog, but this is my favorite so far.

"I see her fully for all that she is and all that I know she will be."
I can't say enough about Cozy. One, she is a plus-sized heroine who is very much aware of her body, i.e., she knows how hard it is to find the perfect clothes or even to shop for them. What she is not is insecure about it, or a doormat. She doesn't throw herself a pity party over any of it. She owns her curves like it's nobody's business, and that, let me tell you, is what I really aspire to be. She's also such a strong person, and she's been through so much. She deserves to be happy.
Also, the untied tie thing? I have that kink too.

"It's almost not fair that the first job I land has to be with a man I couldn't have even conjured in my dreams."
Max is dreamy. Swoony. Incredible. Whatever you want to call him, I'm sure he is that too. The single dad who puts his daughter and his job above all else, because he's been burned by love before and he doesn't want to go down that road again. But then someone walks into his life and changes everything without even trying. And he never saw her coming.

"He looks at me like I'm some sort of foreign creature he has to study to understand. What's worse? I like it."
Cozy shows up at Max's house as a favor for her sister. He's looking for a nanny to care for his daughter, Everly, for the summer. At first glance, she seems like she'll never belong in his house. It's not only the clothes she's wearing, but her whole life philosophy that rubs him the wrong way. Against all odds, though, and because his kid likes her, she gets the job.

"It's a 'zero-fucks-given' kind of kiss. No gentle coaxing, no tantalizing sample. It's the kind where you don't know where your mouth starts and his begins."
Both of them are attracted to each other, but fighting it. Because it really makes no sense, does it? The uber-busy CEO and the nanny with her laissez-faire attitude. However, their connection is deep, because they're more than what they seem at a first glance, and because they match. They just don't see it yet.

"Make no mistake, you aren't a convenience fuck, Cassandra. You are a dream fuck."
There's so much tension between them, and their first kiss was preceded by a couple of laugh out loud moments on my part. I stopped laughing when they kissed, because damn, that was hot. And I knew that the hotness was just getting started because these two... you have no idea.
Soon enough you can see that it's not just about sex. He wants to know more about her, and she's curious about him too.

"If you think for one fucking second your body isn't everything I want... Everything I have been craving... And everything I jack off to when I can't sleep at night because you haunt all my waking moments... Then you're not as smart as you think you are."
Once they start really trusting each other with the things they've kept hidden, a few walls come down between them and it becomes apparent how wonderful they are together. How they can bring out the best in each other. Except they're both stubborn in their ways, and very much scared of what's going on. Of pushing forward and letting go of everything holding them back.

"I don't need to watch you to know that I want you, Max."
I loved the way he needed to mark her. OK, hickeys are not fun, but it's his way of claiming her, and I loved it. I love that he needs her to keep her eyes on him at all times, even though I didn't love the reason behind it.
I loved that he truly doesn't care about her curves and, better yet, he absolutely adores them. Her. He adores all of her. This was truly refreshing.

I loved Everly too, such a sweet kid, and I loved the three of them and their interactions, and how much Cozy helps Everly become who she wants to be.

"She is mine in all the ways I've ever wanted a woman to be mine. And I want to be hers forever."
When push comes to shove, they belong together. Nothing else matters when they want each other like they've never wanted anyone or anything else. Who cares about their differences when they fit together like a puzzle? A beautiful, heartwarming, loving, steamy puzzle that will melt your heart and your Kindle, probably.
I loved this book.

P.S. Amy, can we please have books about Max's brothers? And maybe Dakota? Hmm? :)

4.75 big and beautiful, Zaddy JP stars

I giggled, I laughed, I swooned, but I especially fanned my face. I love reading books with a confident thick girl, and Cassandra/Cozy embraces her curves… and Max loves them all 😉.

Max’s (30) daughter, Everly, will be staying with him all summer, which means that he needs a nanny for her (her mom’s in a different country with her wife). He’s interviewed a bunch of them and there’s something about each of them that he doesn’t care for, until the last one on the list walks in, connects with Everly, and then gets hired on the spot by her… all before Max can even say no 😬.

Cozy (26) likes making charcuterie boards, but she needs a job in order to help her mental health issues and being a nanny to an 11 year old is the perfect way to distract herself. When the opportunity to interview comes up, she takes it and hits it off with Everly. Now all she has to do is fight this attraction that sparks whenever she and Max are in the same room 👀

What I liked-
—the chemistry 🔥. Oh LAWD. Even when Max saves her from her near drowning, there’s just fire everywhere. She’s curvy and plump and she turns him on so much… and his abs are fit enough to wash clothes on… plus, they can’t help but want each other

—the smexy times🔥. Duh lol. From the accidentally picking up her vibr@tor scene, to helping her with that problem, to his obsession with leaving his marks all over her, to the sharing whiskey scene, to his kinks they have, I was here for them all

—Max’s JP side when the OMD came up 😈. He’s isn’t afraid to claim his woman. 💁🏻‍♀️ you do you boo 😉

—eyes on me 👀 🥵

—the body positivity in his book was 🤌🏻. Yes, Cassandra is confident, but she has the same fears many thick girls have, and Max makes sure to assuage those fears (with his mouth, hands, and d 💅)

—the LGBTQ+ aspect. I love that this is talked about (since Evelyn’s stepmom and mom don’t identify as the traditional gender that society expects) and I love that Max is equally passionate about this ❤️

—how protective Max is 🥰

—the side characters😊. Man. I have a lot of books to read (all the books before this one😅)

—their texts

—how he spies on her 👀

—the way mental health issues was addressed

What I didn’t care for:
Although I understood Cassandra‘s fears, I felt like she didn’t really know Max if she genuinely feared what she did. He’s always proven that he’s a different type of businessman, one that understands the importance of being a family man and being there for his daughter, so I was surprised that she didn’t see this sooner

Overall, I loved it

⚠️safety squad⚠️
-no cheating/sharing or owd (in my eyes)
-H isn’t a manwhore
-OMD- the H interrupts the h while she’s on a date with OM1. Nothing happens but the H marks his territory 💁🏻‍♀️ OM2 is a lifeguard and kind of flirts with h. H flips the f out. He threatens OM3 who makes lewd remarks to the h at an event
-praise kink/biting/marking/sp@nking/light breath play
-OW- the H had made an event date with a previous f buddy before h and H had smex

My voice is weak when I offer, "I was a willing participant."

"It doesn't matter," he thunders back, his eyes haunted. "This was inappropriate. I should have known better."

The chastising tone of his words pierce through any shred of dignity I had left. I feel dirty and ashamed as he looks at me like I'm the worst mistake of his life. Is hooking up with me really such an appalling concept to him? I realize he can get girls ten times hotter than me, but to act like I'm some kind of disgusting mistake is a degradation I can't stomach.

"You need to go," I state through clenched teeth, willing my voice not to shake from the rejection blanketing over top of me.

Max turns around, looking guilty, which only makes this situation ten times worse. "Cassandra, I'm so sorry."
27%

So, I will no longer be buying Daws's books.

Not because I'm angry or upset or anything, but I've read two of her books and it's always the same case (for me). The story is going fine. The characters are fine. I'm enjoying myself for the most part.

Then the sex scenes hit. It's just going to be a difference of opinion with me and Daws - we just don't find the same things sexy. I do not find her sex scenes sexy. As soon as the hero starts getting into it with the heroine, I'm turned off by him and usually angry with him. They always seem like okay guys until the sex starts.

Max is parenting his 11-year-old daughter, Everly. He needs a nanny since he works a lot.

My eleven going on twenty-year-old looks up at my with her lethal robin-blue eyes that make me doubt my manhood every single day. 1%

I'm kind of baffled by this sentence, honestly.

Anyway. Cassandra wears tie-dye and fakes a British accent and asks to go by the name "Cozy." Her resume is sparse and everything about her drives the rather uptight and business-y Max up a wall. She calls Max "Big Daddy" in her job interview with him. His (correct, IMO) reaction is a kind of "WTF is going on here?" but the kid loves "Cozy." So she's hired.

He's a millionaire, she's his nanny. He's uptight, she's "fun." He's 34, she's 26. Blah blah blah trope city. If you are looking for a nanny/rich man romance, you can do better than this IMO.

HOW'S THE SEX, CARMEN?

Not my thing. The reason I am not reading any more Amy Daws. We are going to have to agree to disagree about what makes a good sex scene.

TL;DR Not my thing, but it's not like there's no substance to Daws's novels. She's not my cup of tea, but might work out perfectly for someone else. I've read romances that were total trash (I define this by zero effort, paint-by-numbers, author not even trying), this isn't trash (by my definition) because Daws obviously puts work into it, but I can't with the sexual dynamics here. Like her calling him "Zaddy" all the time and him getting hard when she calls him "boss" and him ordering her to cum and etc. YMMV There's NO POINT in me reading a romance book if I can't stomach the sex.

THIS WAS GOOD!!

I sort of started reading this series out of order, but I think eventually I’ll read all of them. I love Amy Daws’ books so much!

I started with book 3 and I thought it was enjoyable, then I read book 5 ‘Last on the List’ because I saw that it was a single dad boss romance AND SINGLE DAD ROMANCES HAVE A SPECIAL PLACE IN MY HEART!!

*some thoughts*

I thought cozy was a wonderful fmc. The more I read, the more I got to know her and understand why she is the way she is. It’s honestly wonderful to see how strong she is and how confident and beautiful she feels in her own skin!! I also really loved how awkward she was throughout the book, just saying the most random things. It was funny.

I loved Max. I loved how supportive he is and how good of a father he is to Everly. It was honestly adorable to see their interactions and that he makes time for her and checks his camera and texts to see what they’re up to. so cute!

I think that max and cozy had great chemistry, and the spice was good! I love how protective max was throughout the book. THE JEALOUSY!!

with that being said, I wasn’t the biggest fan of the some of the words/ phrases said. I think I’ll be okay if I never have to read the word “zaddy” again. also, “sweet cheeks” 🫠

I was also not a fan of the more genz phrases, which I’ve never heard anyone say outside of TikTok.

This book is still definitely my favorite in the series so far! Can’t wait to read the rest!

Full rtc!

read if you like:

→ Boss x employee (parent x nanny)
→ Single Dad romance
→ Millionaire
→ Plus sized heroine
→ Close Proximity
→ He Falls First
→ open-door romance, steamy

TW: toxic work environment, stroke (stress induced), mention of paralysis due to the stroke.

MARRY ME MAX!!

Amy Daws does it again!! There is just something about the books Amy writes that brings me so much joy and this was an ANTICPATED read for me, and it did not disappoint!

This follows Max and Cozy (Cassandra). Max is trying to find a nanny for daughter for the summer (his ex wife is away working), and Cozy is the last on the list of interviews. Cozy is everything a nanny shouldn't be... because she likes doing NOTHING. And Max has a jammed pack summer for his daughter. But like most dads, when his daughter instantly takes to Cozy he gives in and gives his daughter the nanny she wants! So what happens when Cozy stops just being the Nanny to him and starts becoming his everything?!

Cozy is a plus sized FMC and I felt she was written beautifully. She was confident in who she was with small moments of insecurity. But her insecurities didn't last long... it felt realistic! She was funny and sweet and brought out a side to Max I loved!

MAX... Max can get it. He was DOMINANT and kinky and I loved every second. He took charge but never felt like it was too much. He had a lot to unpack with his ex wife leaving him for someone else and I felt the way that was handled was done well!

There was one word used a lot throughout this book that after a while I wasn't the biggest fan of how often it was being used, but that was the ONLY thing!

Overall I freaking loved this book. I laughed throughout and I wish it didn't end!! LOVE

5/5 plot
3/5 spice

Last On The List is book 5 of the “Wait With Me” series by author Amy Daws. It is a standalone romance. 1st person, told from both POV with a HEA.

Tropes:
✔️ forbidden
✔️ forced proximity
✔️ opposites
✔️ single millionaire father
✔️ tortured hero

Max Fletcher urgently needs a nanny. Cozy Barlow has nothing to do over the summer.

So when her sister asks Cozy to interview for the nanny position and Max’s daughter hires her on the spot, Max has no other choice but to stick it out with the daydreaming, tie-dye wearing nanny with enticing curves and keep it professional.

Then he discovers she’s having similar fantasies and they decide to have a no strings fling for the duration of the summer. Even though they lose the battle against their attraction, they still don’t make sense as a couple. They’re completely opposites, but once they start getting to know each other, the connection they form is deep.

I loved cozy’s offbeat outlook in contrast with Max’s strictness. I enjoyed Max’s brothers and his group of friends, particularly one kick @$$ romance writer who I can’t wait to know in Wait With Me, book 1 in the series.

Thank you @bbooksreview for the great rec! I’ve now added Amy Daws to my list of authors to look for.

I got this far and I really just don’t care what happens to these characters. 🫠 Oof. This one was tough. And it took me six days to get to that point. While it was fun and steamy, it was ultimately slow going and featured cringeworthy pet names. Also, the whole “did I/you just unlock another kink?” but got old fast. Maybe this was catering to BookTok.

Cozy and Max!!! Last on the List is officially my favorite book for single dad and nanny romances. Last on the List is an appropriate name for this book. Max and his preteen daughter, Everly, are interviewing nannies to help out with Everly for the summer. Everly ends up being the last nanny to interview and she literally entered the room with a bang. Cozy is a free-spirited woman whose life philosophies go against everything Max wants in a nanny. Everly doesn’t care though and automatically hires Cozy as the live-in nanny, and it’s hilarious from there watching Cozy become a part of their family in the best way possible!

Cozy and Everly’s bond was PRECIOUS. Cozy and Everly were so similar and were exactly what the other needed at the time. All of the Cozy/Everly/Max moments were adorable because they were so perfect together. Max is an amazing dad and I loved his co-parenting relationship with his ex. This book truly did the single parent thing right and I loved it.

Now, Cozy and Max?! YES PLEASE. Their connection was obvious from DAY ONE, and every time they touched each other I felt it😩. This might be the author’s filthiest book yet because Max and Cozy are some dirty talkers and I ate it all the way up 😂😂😂🥵🥵🥵. These two were absolutely meant to be not just sexually but emotionally as well. Both have their reasons for being hesitant about starting a new relationship but they truly complimented each other so well.

Pick this book up if you love a single dad, nanny and adorable daughter all mixed in because this book did it WELL. And the comedy was hilarious😂. This is officially my favorite Amy Daws book and that’s saying something because I loved Mac and those Harris Brothers. Last on the List officially has me on the hunt for my own Zaddy💀.

TROPES: single dad; nanny; forced proximity (nanny lives in tiny house behind hero’s house); GREAT plus-size heroine representation

TRIGGER WARNINGS: mentions of anxiety/panic attacks

The beginning was good, the end was cute enough, but there was a whole lot of boring in the middle. I mostly liked Max and Cozy, but some of the dialogue was cheesy, and I’d really like to not have to read anything about charcuterie boards ever again. Still, an enjoyable read, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes the single-parent grumpy-sunshine trope.

A sexy single dad who is a genuinely nice guy, but also kind of a possessive caveman? Yeah, that works for me! This hero steals the show with his combination of sweet and alpha/businessman and caveman, but I also loved the vibrant heroine who has unexpected sides of her own. The two make for a very compelling combination, and the boss/nanny/forbidden element really worked as well. It's steamy fun, with a fling to more romance that slowly shifts into something deeper, and there's never a dull moment along the way. The chemistry between our couple sizzled, and there are many, many fan-worthy moments. It's the banter and playfulness that really stood out for me though; Max and Cozy have an instant spark between them, they just have very different attitudes. I enjoyed the boss/nanny dynamic, which felt different than the norm because of her age (26). Cozy is no young or timid heroine falling for the boss, she's a strong and independent woman who knows exactly what she's getting into... at least until she gets in over her head.

The story follows Max, a successful businessman who is excited to have his daughter full-time for the summer. He's a great dad who takes the time to truly care about his daughter, but he does need a nanny to help carry the load. Unfortunately, they've been unable to find the perfect fit, and the hot mess of a woman who interviews last doesn't seem to fit the bill either. But when Max's daughter chooses Cassandra/Cozy, he finds himself hiring the seemingly carefree woman. Cozy isn't the typical nanny, and her philosophy seems to be no planning, no worries. When she moves into the guest house, it immediately changes the dynamic, and it's not long before Max finds himself inexplicably drawn to her. Messing around with his nanny is a terrible idea, but something about Cozy brings out Max's baser instincts.

It's a steamy book with plenty of humor, and the tone remains light even when it tackles some difficult subjects. I kinda loved that we got these first impressions of Max and Cozy, and there was so much more swimming beneath the surface to discover throughout. Sure, we've gotten to see bits and pieces of Max throughout the series (absolutely not required reading), but I always pictured him as more of a serious businessman type. He's a lot more fun here, and certainly more jealous/possessive than anyone would've guessed. Max and Cozy are awesome together, and it was really refreshing to see a guy loving and embracing his girl's full figure. If anything, Cozy's body just makes Max go into overdrive, lol. The story is not focused on her weight, which was great too. It was also not focused on Max's backstory either, though I can certainly see how it shaped him into the man he is today. There were a couple of minor things that bugged me about that, but nothing major holding me back from enjoying the story. I'm usually not the biggest fan of "let's bang out the attraction" storylines, but there was a lot more going on here, so it kept me hooked. This was another very solid installment in the series, though it's also easy to read as a standalone - and here's hoping it's the start of a spinoff series.

Audio note: The audio was excellent! It definitely enhanced the story, and may have even pulled this from a strong 4 to a 5-star read for me. It's dual narration, with Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon performing throughout. I'm a big fan of both, so their voices added a level of comfort and relaxation to the story... and a little extra heat during the steamy scenes! Which, yeah, I wouldn't recommend this one for the office. It gets steamy and/or suggestive early on, and stays that way. The tone is perfect for audio though, and I really enjoyed the audio experience. This one is longer than some of the others in the series (11+ hours), so you might have trouble finishing in a single day, but I eagerly picked the book back up after every break - and that's always a good sign.

4.5 Stars

This was another book I really enjoyed but had a few odd things for me. Either way, I really enjoyed this one.

What I loved:
1. Cassandra is a plus size heroine, and while I loved that she had insecurities, I was really hoping she would be fully confident in her body as she was in her convictions. I always feel like this is a double edged sword, because many plus size people are not 100% confident in how they look. It makes the heroine relatable.
2. Max is a really great dad, maybe a little super focused but Cassandra helps him to relax and see the joy in just being and enjoying the moments.
3. The steam was really great, some of Amy Daws’s steamier scenes are in this one.
4. I loved seeing old characters from previous standalones. They add to the story for older fans but newer fans will still enjoy their appearances.
5. I thought Daws tackled toxic corporate culture well, and she sheds some light on how we need change in these areas.
6. Everly was adorable but, at times, she read really young for her age in the book.
7. The narrators did a great job bringing everything to light.

What I didn’t love:
1. There are some negative comments toward thinner women and people who work out. Gym rat comes to mind. I’m not someone who works out a lot but I don’t think it is necessary to think negatively about any body type or to use the heroes previous preference to compare to the heroine.
2. The jump to relationship and the makeup from breakup was pretty fast.
3. I did cringe a bit every time the word Zaddy was said.

I would definitely recommend this one if you want light, fun, and steamy.

Ahhh, plus size, single dad, nanny romance perfection.

Amy, I love you. Last on the List was perfectly funny, spicy, heartfelt, and angsty.

Max is a CEO single zaddy who's looking for a nanny for the summer. When none of the interviewees are the right fit, the head of the nanny agency sends in her sister as a last ditch effort. When Cozy (really, Cassandra) interviews and tells Max all about her grand nanny plans to teach his daughter the art of doing nothing, he's less than thrilled but Everly is totally on board and what she says, goes.

Cozy and Max get off to a rough start because Max is a Type-A, ambitious, routined CEO and Cozy is taking life one day at a time. But, she has an amazing impact on Everly and Max discovers there's a lot more to her than meets the eye. Their banter, tension, and chemistry finally come to a head and boy, do sparks fly.

I'm obsesseddddd with this book. My single dad lovers: this is a must. My curvy heroine lovers: this is a must. My romcom lovers: a must. There's so much banter and back and forth but great spice. Cozy is an awesome plus size heroine who has her small moments of insecurity but overall, is a confident FMC who isn't trying to change her body. Both Cozy and Max have so much more to them than meets the eye and both of their relationships with Everly were so heartwarming to watch unfold.

I would have given this book 4 stars if it hadn’t been for all the cringey ass sh*t the fmc says and the fact that she excessively uses the word ‘Zaddy’🙃 😵‍💫

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

4.75/5 ⭐️s

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh my god, Amy Daws!!!! (Sorry for the multiple exclamation marks; they were necessary)

This book was a masterpiece, and I’m so stinking sad it’s over. Max and Cassandra were PERFECT. I’m a sucker for the single dad trope anyways, and who doesn’t love a good “the single dad falls for the nanny trope”…but this story had so many amazing layers to it that it almost seems like a disservice to condense it down to those tropes.

Things I loved:
• Cassandra’s confidence. She’s fat, and she owns it! Yes, she has moments where she questions herself, but who doesn’t? I always love when we get a plus size heroine whose personality isn’t ruled by her weight.

• This. Family. Unit. I loved how none of the angst in this book was focused on Max’s ex-wife, and, instead, he’s got a genuine friendship with her. I love that they both just want what’s best for their daughter AND each other. And I freaking adored their daughter, Everly. Kudos to Amy for writing one of the only fictional kids I didn’t actively hate. This girl was amazing!

• Cassandra’s past. I won’t spoil this, but I thought Amy did an amazing job portraying how dark Cozy’s time at her previous job was.

• Hi, THE SPICE. The author’s note promised this book would be spicier, and Amy wasn’t lying! I, for one, am super happy about that!

What didn’t work for me:
• My only criticism is the level of exposition we got from Max’s POV at the beginning as he was listing every previous couple’s book summary. I didn’t need all of that information to enjoy this book. They’re couples. That’s all I really needed to know. But it’s such a small complaint!

Overall, I can’t say enough about this book. It’s exactly what I wanted and so much more!

Spice: 3/5 🌶

4.5 stars.
I had a really good time reading this book.
Especially after feeling so distracted while reading a completely different book.

I really enjoyed the humor and the banter and the sunshine-grump vibes that this book gave me.

I loved the plot, of course. The nanny and the single, rich dad is always a good one.
The daughter was super cute, and mature without being completely unbelievable.

The sex was really fiery. And we got a lot of TikTok slang and some references in there. Plus we got the classic ‘take a gulp of whiskey and spit it in her mouth so she can ‘try’ it’ scene. So good.
I loved the hickies and bite marks he was obsessed with giving her. I loved the cute thoughts about ‘kinks’ being unlocked every time they saw the other one doing something hot. So cute.

I just really liked this, and TikTok recommended it to me at the perfect moment.

Last on the List was recommended to me from a friend. I was definitely hesitant going in to this one because the only other book I’ve read from this author in the past didn’t work for me. But I’m all about giving an author a second chance and I’m so glad I did try this one because it worked for me so much better! While the humor this author uses doesn’t always work for me, I really loved the relationship and emotions from all of the characters.

Max is a millionaire and a single dad who has share custody with his ex to their 11-year old daughter Everly. First off, I LOVED seeing his friendship with his ex-wife, exes don’t always have to play the villains and I loved seeing the healthy coparenting here! Max has their daughter for the summer and needs a nanny to help out while he works. He’s currently busy at work with a possible merger that would potentially double the size of his franchise development corporation. A nanny agency owner sends over her sister Cassandra, which doesn’t start off well when she shows up late in a tie dye tracksuit with a plan of “doing nothing” for the summer with his daughter. But Max agreed to let Everly have a say in who he hires and she is all for Cozy (aka Cassandra). Cozy ends up moving into the tiny house guesthouse on their property and I loved all the close proximity we got because of that!

I really liked seeing Cozy’s relationship with his daughter Everly, while her plan is to do “nothing” all summer, she really brings so much to Everly’s life and it was so cute and sweet seeing them bounce off one another. Cozy is a curvy heroine who loves and embraces her body, and Max definitely appreciates her curves too. Max and Cozy are very taken with one another from the start, I was surprised how quickly they start up their secret hookups, which of course lead to more later. But I did like how it all played out, they needed to get together early on to deal with some of the other topics and emotions later. They do have to tackle some differences between the future they see for one another. Because of a terrible work experience in the corporate world, Cozy now has a very opposite mindset in regards to work and career goals: she wants to do less, he wants to do more. But I liked seeing how everything worked out! I could tell with the meeting of his friends and how those characters were developed that they must have books too from this author, but I think not having read them was fine too.

I tried!! I really tried! But this girl is so insecure but they want to frame her as the most confident in her own skin. She is cringe and I hate everything about her character. I wanted to see what people loved for it to have a high rating but I couldn’t get immersed in this book despite reading 49% of it. Such a waste of time!

I'm not even lying when I say this is probably the best Amy Daws book I've read... and I've read her entire backlist and peppered it with 5 🌟 ratings as I went.

📚 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲: Opposites attract, single dad, age gap, forbidden love

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: The only thing Max loves more than success is his daughter Everly. So when her mother takes a chance at a summer overseas, Max has to find someone to stay with Everly for the summer. Enter Cozy, a wild woman with hippie ideas, who pitches a low-key summer of "doing nothing" and gets the job. It isn't long before Max is fully obsessed with his daughters nanny.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: It's a little scary how much I absolutely adored this book. I'll start with some generalities, to give you the gist of it. Amy Daws took this story and knocked it out of the park. She nailed the forbidden love trope; she nailed the nanny trope... She put on a writing clinic on slow burns that turn into 5-alarm fires. She added a sprinkle of angst and the perfect level of spice and, voila! It goes on my top-tier reads list.

But the devil is also in the details. What Amy Daws did here, writing a plus-sized character, hit me right in the feels. There were scenes, like in Ch. 23 where Cozy is describing how it feels to lay on your side as a plus-sized woman, or Ch. 38 where she goes dress shopping and describes how hard it can be... it's just so relatable. A lot of authors add plus-sized heroines to their books and don't do them justice. This was *chef's kiss*

Another detail I absolutely loved was the Bookstagram and Booktok references. She took every single trend readers have been going crazy for and weaved them in do seamlessly it felt effortless. They even sometimes made me laugh out loud because I was like I LOVE WHEN GUYS DO THAT IN BOOKS.

I have to end this review with a very clear plea to Amy Daws to write books for each of Max's brothers. I absolutely need them. I'll do anything.

𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The plus size rep in this book was soooooo good. The author did an excellent job.

I loved every single thing about this book. It has ALL my fave tropes and to have a plus size heroine was the cherry on top. I loved it soooo much.

The relationship development was very well done given the boss/employee relationship dynamic they started off with. Their stolen looks and mutual pining was fantastic 🫶🏼

The only thing that made me not want to rate this any higher is the fact that the female main character kept calling the guy Zaddy 😑 the first few times was fine when she was talking to her friend using this word to describe the guy. But when she then started saying it to his face? No thank you.

Thank you to Amy for an early ARC!!

I’m such a fan of Amy’s work. I devoured her Harris brothers series early this year and found my favorite pregnancy trope book One Moment Please also by her, so I was honored to receive an Arc for this book!!

This is apart of an interconnected series but each can be read as a stand alone! I haven’t read them all just yet—and was not confused at all! But I did read One Moment Please and seeing those characters in this book made my heart happy!!

Ok so spoiler free review that’s more than just emotions cause I really don’t know how to review books besides saying—it made my heart happy!!! Which this book did :)

Curvy, wild, and free spirited nanny meets strict, punctual, and determined CEO single father. I loved the story line in this one and there was never a dull moment!! I loved watching the characters grow with and because of one another.

Will give a more in depth review upon release so I can include spoilers, but until then just add this to your TBR for a fun summer romance :)

Tropes:
Spice 🌶🌶🌶
Nanny
Single parent
Sunshine x (kinda) grumpy
CEO romance
18+ (explicit sex scenes and sexual language.)

This entire book could have been about four chapters long if the main character didn’t CONSTANTLY remind us that she is fat. I don’t need detailed descriptions of how characters look. I can formulate those thoughts on my own. With the description being shoved down my throat every other sentence it got old real quick. This was my first and probably last book by this author.

I got 68% into the book and DNF it. I don’t need to know how it ends. I’m sure it will have something to do with her letting us know she is fat.
