Once A Princess felt a lot more disjointed from The Princess and the Fangirl than Once at Midnight did from Geekerella. I think part of this is because Elle and Darien's first date story takes place during the timeframe of Geekerella but this one takes place further after the events of The Princess and the Fangirl. As such, it felt disjointed and rushed.

I have more questions about this one as well. What puts Imogene and Jess in the same location? Did I miss something about that, or about Imogene's family living in LA, or her going to college there? Or is that not explained? And why does Imogene care what happens to Vance? Does she suddenly have a savior complex or something?

I did like seeing what happened with Starfield in this one, and I'm glad we didn't have to wait until Bookish and the Beast to see what happened after the issues in The Princess and the Fangirl.

I am still pretty disappointed about how Jess and Harper's relationship kind of derailed the magic of Imogene and Harper's first meeting in real life, and how that was reflected in this one.

This story made me really like Jess, actually. I think if I could have seen a bit more from her perspective in the main book I might have empathized more, but she didn’t really connect for me like Imogen did. That said, I think it’s good to see people figuring out relationships in real time, because I know when I was young I thought happily ever after was a real thing, and now I’m more in the camp of messily ever after with the right person as you work on your issues and support each other.

Nice to have a snapshot of Jess, Imogen, Ethan, Harper, and Natalia a few months down the road after the Princess and the Fangirl, but kind of a meh chapter imo, sadly. I still don't feel super connected to the Jess/Harper relationship, so it felt a bit out of nowhere/forced still for me.

I was kinda disappointed when I noticed this was inly in Jess’s perspective. But then again, Imogen didn’t have much of a story to wrap up. Did I miss why she was on set? Or was she just randomly hanging out?

This story had me making a cringy face almost the whole tome as the love story is still unbelievable. Having a main character with an LGBTQ love story is definitely a good thing, but only if you can write it properly. It felt forced and didn’t have the same feeling as it did when she wrote about Darien and Elle.

From only meeting each other 4 months ago to asking to move in while only dating long distance seems way too fast. Especially since they’re only around 18 (or was it 21? Still, young for only a 4 month relationship)

"Once Upon a Con" series by Ashley Poston is a delightful collection of novels that blend the magic of fairy tales with the reality of contemporary life, specifically through the lens of fandom and conventions. The series starts with "Geekerella," a modern twist on Cinderella, where a die-hard fan girl and a teen actor find love at a cosplay convention. Ashley Poston masterfully captures the essence of fan culture, creating a heartwarming and relatable narrative that celebrates geekiness, passion, and finding your own happy ending. With charming characters and engaging plots, this series is a must-read for anyone who loves fairy tales reimagined in a modern setting. It's a tribute to the power of stories and the communities that cherish them.

This time we get to catch a glimpse of Jess, Imogen, Ethan, & Harper months after the events at the Con. Jess is busy filming the sequel to Starfield with Darien & Vance, but all she can think about is Harper. Harper the girl she met while she spent the weekend pretending to be someone else. Jess is shown with a little more nervousness to her in this short story. But she is still a very complicated and loveable character.

This was really cute and very short! (only 17 pages)

I would recommend reading this right after the second and right before the third since it gives you some context on Vance. I liked it a bit more than I liked reading the second book honestly. I would have liked a bit more with Imogen here though.

Ugh it’s so cute! I just love it. I would ready a full trilogy about these girls just being cute and in love. Reading this after I’ve been staring at it for so long really makes me want to reread the Geekerella series. Just love all of it.

~ 3/5 stars ~

Another okay novella from this series, however, I wasn't a big fan of Jessica in The Princess and the Fangirl (pun not intended), so I was also kind of indifferent to this novella.

Again, cute little short story to carry on the second book's love story. Loved Jessica being nervous and them both just being so happy. Normal stuff, less Imogen but liked the kinda lead in into her being friends with Vance in the third book.

Cute little sappy love story of Harper and Jess. Simple, sweet. Not much surprise as I’ve already read the series.

A cute short story about Jess and Harper meeting up again after the con. It was needed to tie up some loose ends!

This was cute but something about the pacing felt off. There was too much build up and the conclusion ended up feeling rushed.
