I liked this second book in the Lucinda series.. but honestly it was a little confusing at times. The narration was primarily Lucinda but it often switched between other characters. There were also multiple plots going on, and at times seemed to be too much. Still I liked the world that she created. It's interesting with the Monere and the demons and what her idea of Hell really is.

I also still think of the Merry Gentry series whenever I read this one.. the similarities to me are astounding.

Okay, I am starting to get in to this series. This story was a little busy for me, but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did. I've become invested in the characters and hope that she continues with the story. Lucinda has gone through some amazing changes and not all for the bad. Although she may not agree, she is a demon after all. But the men in her life have changed something inside of her that she never expected to find and it's very gratifying.
Keep em coming Sunny.
Highly recommend.

Lucinda is a boss

Lucinda the demon princess IS dangerous and should be respected. I love this book and have to give it a read-over every year. If you like your demon princess to be a powerful goddess you'll enjoy this series.

I mean four pages in and I wanted to slap the author for repeating everything 6 times. Oooh the Monere queen screaming because we are a scary group, describe them all, then describe them all again. Then say how the queen is silly for screaming, except well she had never seen ones like them before, so it's kind of understandable. Oh and we weren't supposed to be here, but yeah she's so silly. Let's rehash that whole screaming for no - well ok a couple- real reasons. Eye rolls all around. Feels to much like trying to be LKH - the bad version.

Lucinda, Dangerously by Sunny
Paranormal Romance- October 6th, 2009
5 stars

I have been waiting impatiently for Sunny’s latest book. And Lucinda, Dangerously was everything I thought it would be and plenty MORE!! Sunny has written a story that her fans will be sure to devour. It is both dark and refreshing. A flight of the imagination that captured my attention and kept me spellbound long after I finished the last page. This story builds enormously upon her fist book Lucinda Darkly. And although I think a new reader could read her latest book, I really believe to appreciate the depth of Lucinda Dangerously the first book in the series should be read first. (If not ALL of her books!?)

In this book Lucinda, the vindicated demon princess undergoes some disturbing changes that make her more vunerable/human, something she has not felt for over 600 hundred years when her life as Monere queen was cut short. Now she lives as the demon dead. She has no heart beat and while she is sentient she is not technically alive. In the prior book Lucinda discovered her true paternity and that she can shift into a powerful dragon. But as a rare dragon shifter her life is in danger. Therefore, her father the High Lord of Hell has assigned her his personal guard for protection. As she leaves hell she warns the Monere that a rogue demon named Derek has gone broken loose and is intent on mass slaughter. But before she can even settle down with her ‘mismatched extended’ family, she is kidnapped by Derek and taken to a desolate land where nothing heals and her powers are diminished. Escape looks impossible and her death very probable.

This was an electrifying book. Although Sunny’s book/s initial storyline may seem similar to Laurel Hamilton’s style what she does from that point is very original and never ceases to electrify me.

Sunny’s fantastic mix of the sensual (Warning, Lucinda has more than one partner.), dark fantasy and unbelievably delicious storytelling is a delight for the senses. Her stories are filled with unexpected and thrilling surprises which change Lucinda physically and emotionally. The ending was very gratifying as Lucinda’s courageous sacrifice transforms her to an uncertain future but she has her family and loved ones to help her transition.

The story does flip from different characters point of views and although I thought this would be distracting I found that it added to the story line as the reader gets insight to the true feeling of Lucinda’s companions which made me more sympathetic to them and made for a fuller story. (Perhaps there will be a spin off?!) What strikes me as singular about Sunny’s stories is how fascinating her characters are. They are not the usual cookies cutter heroes or heroines. But what attracts me to them are their core of decency and unwavering will power to overcome the unusual obstacles that come their way. Although her gorgeous characters may seem all powerful and even cold, as a reader I felt their compassion and need to help those less fortunate at great risk to themselves

I think Lucinda Dangerously will blow your mind! I never knew what to expect and I was awed by Sunny’s vivid imagination and masterful storytelling skills. As soon as I read it I had to have a moment of silence to let it soak in, I could not believe how good it was!

Lucinda is a Demon Princess who's gained massive powers that no one has ever heard of before. Because of that, she's made new enemies but she's also made new life-long relationships. She has recently bonded to a Monére warrior and a creature from hell called flowers of darkness. They are literally all black and can travel through plants' roots and heal a person. Along with her lover, Stefan, his ward, Jonnie, and two bodyguards sent by her father, their little group just wants to make a new life together.

Unfortunately, soon after she's returned from hell, Lucinda is kidnapped and imprisoned by her biggest enemy, Derek, who's also a demon. He takes her to the outskirts of hell where only beings called the Bandits exist in the place. They are disfigured rejects living in a bleak and empty landscape with no salvation in sight. Derek's one goal is to regain his powers and he's willing to do anything - even sacrifice Lucinda to a horrible fate - to get them back.

Lucinda, Dangerously is the second book in the Demon Princess Series, following Lucinda, Darkly. Lucinda never thought she would end up with two bondmates, and a lover and now that she has them, she's determined to do anything to make sure they're safe and well cared for. However, she's never cared for someone else before and it's taking her a bit to get used to it. Even though the story is in mostly Lucinda's point of view, each character is nicely developed and it doesn't feel like it's just about her.

I felt that the story between Ruric, one of her bodyguards, and Mary, who's a blind human girl, sort of stole the story. I completely was fascinated with what was going on with them and I really wish their part had been longer. Not to say that Lucinda's own plot line wasn't great to read. It kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen next. Hari, her other bodyguard, is an awesome character. At first, he seems like a thoughtless bastard but as I continue reading, unexpected sides of him are shown and he soon became one of my favorite characters.

Needless to say, this is a very erotic romance story and it more than delivers. The chemistry between Lucinda and Stefan is super hot and while she is sleeping with more than one man, it feels as if each relationship is different and special in its own way. The attraction between her and Talon, the "flower of darkness" is exceptionally sweet and I really enjoyed reading about it.

Lucinda, Dangerously is a great story with a kick-ass heroine. The writing is lovely, the characters are endearing and sexy and the plot fleshed out and wonderful. I absolutely enjoyed myself reading this story and I eagerly await the next installment in this series.

What I liked:

-Talon meeting his mom

-Lucinda flying with her dad ini dragon form

-Nico managing not to die when cut off from Lucinda when she was in her cone of silence

-Derek the demon finally dies

-There is another aspect of the Monere/Queen Mother that is revealed/More of Lucinda's family history is revealed as well

-Even liked how there was a much younger Demon Dead character introduced which means that she might have more of a story to tell if Sunny chooses to continue in this vain

-New twist on Merlin

-Lucinda's rebirth

What I didn't like:

-Sunny flippin' went back to the talk of rape again. This time with the guys. I swear I don't understand what is up with the rape obsession for this author. But she loves it for some reason

-The over use of characters getting their heads cut off. Doing this one time is pretty impactful. However doing it repeatedly is just so lackluster and tiresome. Not to mention it loses it's affect when it is over done.

-I wasn't fond of Lucinda and Talon finally having sex. I knew it was coming eventually. But the way in which Sunny wrote Talon's character as being someone so soft and mild mannered. I just sort of felt it was kind of wrong to put him in a sexual role. Not to say that gentle and mild mannered people or characters can't have sex. But the all consuming love aspect of the moment just seemed so weird. Not to mention that it was mentioned that Talon was so long that at one point when he thrust inside Lucinda he wound up in a space behind her cervix. Now I'm not sure this is something that can really happen or not. But I don't know many that would find that all that enjoyable.

-And although I can admire authors like trying to be creative with new worlds and what not. But naming Bandit land as the place where Derek took Lucinda seemed a bit lackluster as well to me. I mean if this is supposed to be this big bad place where "Merlin" was residing, I would think that it would be called something a bit more special than that.

review courtesy of Romance Junkies:

Princess Lucinda is on a new mission. Her recent bonding with two different creatures has given her more power than she has ever had. She has returned from Hell to make a new life with her mixed family and start fresh on Earth among the living. Lucinda returns from a quiet evening out to utter chaos. As soon as they enter her domain, Derek, a rogue demon and one of Lucinda's greatest enemies douses her powers with magic and captures her.

Lucinda's guard joins her in captivity. Derek has some plans for them and the first is transporting them back to Hell. Because of the magic he used on them, Lucinda and her guard can do nothing to escape. After regaining some of their power, Derek sets them up to be entertainment in arena fighting. Lucinda and her guard are outnumbered from the beginning. Can their cunning and strength save them from a certain death?

LUCINDA, DANGEROUSLY is the second book in THE DEMON PRINCESS CHRONICLES and in my opinion, it is the best. Sunny brings to mind talented authors like Gena Showalter and Jeanine Frost with her ability to capture the otherworldliness in her characters. A lot of paranormal and urban fantasy authors complicate stories by creating so many different characters and you feel like you need a guide just to read the book. Sunny drew me right in with the ease of learning each character and what their purpose is. You can read more of Lucinda's story in the first book in THE DEMON PRINCESS CHRONICLES, LUCINDA, DARKLY. I highly recommend reading them in order, but LUCINDA, DANGEROUSLY is also a great stand alone.

I thought this book was just okay. It's been a long time since the first Lucinda book came out and as I didn't keep it - a quick refresher on all of Lucinda's men and their importance to her would've been nice. I found the story to be a bit stilted as there were side stories for both Ruric and Hari and Talon that I found unsatisfying. I also didn't care for the way that Lucinda so quickly dispatched the supposedly invincible Merlin. All that build up into the rogue Derek for him to be easily killed by Merlin and then for Lucinda to so easily kill Merlin seemed anticlimatic at best.

I noticed that in the last Mona Lisa book there was a big foray into side storylines as well. Perhaps this is becoming the new way she's writing these stories? I hope not. It's hard to become invested in such quick little side tales. I would've cared more about Ruric - the ugly demon from hell - caring for the blind human much more if there had been more to his story than their "secret" curing of her blindess. Or Hari bonding with Talon's mother Saraii only to get a glimpse of that relationship later with Hari not returning to the human realm with Lucinda. That one especially pissed me off as it was hinted in the beginning that the bristly Hari could possibly find himself softening for Lucinda now that he knew she was truly of the dragon blood clan.

Overall a disappointment in a series that I used to anxiously await.

I liked this book but felt it was somewhat lacking in the end. I'm not even pissed about Merlin's easy death. While Derek was unable to kill him I understand how she did it. After all, every guy lowers their defences when having sex. I wasn't even perturbed by this "rape" scene. I don't know if I had been able to actually do it myself but I can see her logic. And you can see later that despite having been a concious decision on her part how it actually affected her later. I don't find any of this strange or anything. But I still can't stop this feeling of unwholesomeness. A big word I know!
I don't know exactly why this happened especially considering the author actually tied all her "loose ends"...Talon´s mother showed up. Lucinda is safe and also able to bask (one of the things she missed since dying). Her father is better. Ruric helped Mary. Hari is safe and bonded with Sarai. Stefan and Jonnie are well. Nico too. I really don't know where this feeling comes from but it's here nonetheless hence my 3 star rating. Maybe I'm being harsh. Don't know. Worth reading anyway even if it's just to finish this story.

This is book two in a spin off series from the Mona Lisa series by the same author. It's an urban fantasy/paranormal romance with a moderate dose of erotica mixed in. If you like the one women with many boyfriends motif of the Merry Gentry or Anita Blake series by LK Hamilton, this author will entertain you.

The premise is that Lucinda is a 500 year old demon who hunts rogues. In the last book, she accidentally ended up metaphysically linked to several men, and learned she could turn into a dragon when visiting hell. In this book a very bad demon is hunting her, and then it gets worse when she accidentally wakes up the worst demon to exist for thousands of years. She wins in the end, but along the way discovers she has a second animal form, sets up house in Arizona, saves Talon's mother, and comes partway back to life. She has several romatic interludes.

This book really should be 3.5 star rated because the action, the unique characters and the emotional plotting is still there, however for some reason I felt disconnected from the heroine, Lucinda, in this book.

Actually, that's not true. I always feel a disconnect from her. Unlike Mona Lisa, I never WANTED for Lucinda. She was just an available link to the Moneries I fell so in love with. While her followers and bondmates are interesting and lovable, they are just a pale immatation of Mona Lisa, Gryphon and Halycon.

So while this is a good book, well-written and edited, I guess I may have to decide whether to continue on with this series or just wait for more of her other Queen. I feel I am not really being fair with my ratings of this series and may be downrating just because "Lucinda" is simply not my girl.

I wasn't sure how to rate this one - didn't like it as much as Lucinda, Darkly, but the story picked up more towards the end. I loved how we were given more of Hari's history, a softer side of Ruric and new additions Sarai and Brielle. But, I did miss Stefan and Nico in this one.

I didn't realize at the time I purchased Lucinda, Darkly that it was a spin-off of Sunny's Monere series. Now that I'm beginning to read that series, this one seems that much better. Hence my 4★ rating for this book.

I'm dissapointed with this book. It started out bad and ended up ok. Usually a book picks up and this one did not. I skimmed through the book. I liked the first one but this time Lucinda seemed lost. It seems like this book is trying to prepare the reader for a bigger and better book by developing characters. And that's good but that's exactly what it did, develop characters with a dumb story. Lucinda was bound with two men and now it's four. I'm hoping that in the next book it's not six men, I'm hoping that the next book will have a story especially with her brother and her father who make an apperance in the Mona Lisa books. Those characters are excellent. Lucinda is missing spunk she's a demon without a cause. I hope the next one will be better.

A very dark erotic read. I just love reading about the Monère Society, they are so deliciously addictive. Lucinda is a strong character, a demon clinging onto her humanity in feelings and thoughts. A tender bond is formed with each of her men that is sweet and endearing.

In this sequel, we see a mature Talon evolving into more of his Floradëur lineage. Hari, definitely kept this book wonderfully intriguing. There were some issues with the story... or stories that seemed to have spun off within this quick read, but I can't help to skim over the flaws to get to the meatier parts. I was enthralled with Lucinda and love to see her little family growing.

A yummy read.

Sunny is one heck of a talented writer. I usually feel some dissapointment with spin off series but Lucinda I actually grew to like more than the Mona Lisa who started her writing career. The storyline is definately original. I truly never know what to expect in plot twists. Sunny suspends reality quite easily and I getted sucked into the world she builds. I can't believe I waited as long as I had to read Lucinda's story. Also, really steamy sex scenes. Really, fog up the entire subway car steamy. Moral monogamists should proceed with caution.

Sunny is an amazing author who will have your mind spinning in amazement within the first few pages of her books. You never know what is going to happen next. It's immpossible to tell what relationships will begin and which may end or what unknown realm they may end up in. Sunny's novels are a must read. Action-packed, Spicy Romances, and danger lurking around every corner, what more could you ask for? I can't wait for the next book in this series =)

I like this world, her prose is sassy and the characters are likeable. I think I might like this series better than mona lisa, if only because there is a little more going on.

But don't you think Lucinda would be a little smarter and more world weary after 700 years of life? I guess I just don't get the whole immortality attraction. But for paranormal romance (essentially) it is an enthralling read.

I liked this spin-off series a bit more than the original. It still reminds me a bit of Karen Chance's Dorina Basarab Series. I wish Sunny had written more about Lucinda. Unfortunately just as this gets a bit more interesting, the author has stopped writing.
