I bought The Lost Superfoods during the covid pandemic. At first, I thought that this book was just another gimmick. But, after going through it, I could make all the recipes mentioned in it and it was also easy to deal with the crisis. Good illustrations, some history lessons, good detail, organized, easy to read. Book looks nice. For a prepare minded person a must have, also good gift. With this book a person with basic cooking knowledge can become super useful in a bartering or depressed economy. You can save lots of money with implementing just a few of these strategies/lessons. I like the information given on preserving food for long term storage as well as short term. Particularly, the dry canning process for storing dry beans, rice, flour, pasta & etc. for long term in a way to kill all bugs/eggs that invest such items even in the short term. Overall, a very interesting book with information that dates back many years as well as today on food preservation long term or short. I'm fully convinced that you and I will be better prepared than 95% of the population if some sort of disaster strikes. When we fail to prepare, we are preparing to fail. This guide is all about getting us prepared.

When I bought this book, I was just expecting it to address some foods to stockpile in case of a disaster. Once I begin reading this very informative book, I realized that it was much more than a guide covering the important foods. This guide goes into nutrition and our nutritional needs, covers food prep and storage, preparation for disasters, canning techniques something that's is being forgotten by most people today, and much, much more information to get you prepared if disaster strikes. After reading this guide and acting on the information it provides, I'm fully convinced that you and I will be better prepared than 95% of the population if some sort of disaster strikes. When we fail to prepare, we are preparing to fail. This guide is all about getting us prepared. An excellent book! The book is separated into two parts. The first one lists crisis scenarios that may lead to limited access to food. Whether you are a “prepper” or have a realistic idea about what’s going on in the world, the book offers a pretty comprehensive list of natural disasters and crises caused by people. The author lists the criteria for nutritious food. The second part of the book introduces common foods, separated by categories, accompanied by recipes and ways to preserve them.

This is an amazingly thorough guide to coping with a prolonged catastrophic event where the usual sources of the foods we depend on are no longer available. With this type of situation in mind, the author presents a scientific analysis of our nutritional needs and offers a comprehensive plan for selecting, storing, and consuming the foods we will need to subsist through such a calamity. The impressiveness of this work comes in its painstaking attention to detail and the breadth of coverage it provides in terms of preparing for this type increasingly possible event. This is a great book for disaster prepping! Not real long but gives an easy to understand simple approach to prepping for any disasters or pandemics. Also has a great summary list of nutrient dense foods to have on hand. Very glad I purchased it. With the global crisis, I wanted something to give me peace of mind when prepping shelf stable foods and this book had a ton of ideas & explanations. No need to spend hundreds of dollars on shelf stable emergency rations when you can be truly prepared with actual healthy shelf stable foods.

Let's start with the positives, which are abundant. As I navigated the pages of this book, I found a mix of enlightening insights and, well, a few reservations. The authors did a phenomenal job introducing a range of forgotten superfoods, weaving together a narrative that felt like a culinary adventure. Learning about ancient ingredients that have slipped through the cracks of modern nutrition was both fascinating and eye-opening. I appreciated the emphasis on reclaiming our connection with nature and incorporating these forgotten treasures into our diets for overall health benefits. The book's commitment to exploring the historical and cultural context of these superfoods was a highlight for me. It added a layer of richness to the content, making the journey feel like more than just a crash course in nutrition. It was like stepping into a time machine and rediscovering age-old wisdom that has been lost in the shuffle of modern living. Now, onto the reservations. While the historical context was captivating, I occasionally found the writing style a bit dense. At times, I wished for a simpler, more straightforward explanation of the nutritional benefits and how-to details. The complexity of some discussions left me feeling a bit overwhelmed, especially for someone just starting their wellness journey. Moreover, while the book champions the idea of embracing forgotten superfoods, I felt it could have provided more practical guidance on how to source and incorporate these ingredients into our daily lives. A few recipes or step-by-step guides would have been a welcomed addition, helping bridge the gap between theory and real-world application. Despite these reservations, I must acknowledge that "The Lost SuperFoods" left an indelible mark on my perspective regarding nutrition and well-being. The journey, albeit challenging at times, was transformative. The book has inspired me to explore more deeply the world of superfoods and make intentional choices about what I consume.

Embarking on the journey through "The Lost SuperFoods," I found myself immersed in a trove of information that left me with mixed feelings.

On the positive side, the book is a goldmine of nutritional insights, unveiling lesser-known superfoods that promise a myriad of health benefits. I appreciated the thorough research and the author's dedication to shedding light on these nutritional powerhouses. The inclusion of detailed explanations about each superfood's potential impact on health was enlightening.

However, the abundance of information proved overwhelming at times. As a reader, I found myself grappling with an information overload, making it challenging to sift through and prioritize the key takeaways. A more streamlined approach to presenting the material could enhance the reader's experience.

The recipes provided were a nice touch, offering practical ways to incorporate these superfoods into my diet. However, some recipes seemed a bit intricate and required ingredients that weren't readily available, making it less convenient for everyday use. Simplifying the recipes or offering alternatives for more common ingredients would have been appreciated.

While the book aims to be comprehensive, the sheer volume of superfoods introduced might leave readers wondering where to start. A more structured guide on integrating these foods into a balanced diet could be beneficial for those looking for a practical approach.

One positive aspect of this book is the promotion of natural remedies and nutrient-rich foods that were lost over time. I liked the useful hints on how to add these superfoods to the everyday diet. However, some of the claims made about the magical health properties of certain foods seemed to be too much. Nonetheless, despite having more of these superfoods in my diet I have observed a visible effect - I am more lively and focused, also, there has been an increase in overall vitality. This book makes me eat wholesome and ancestral foods for my better health.
