Big changes are coming to Forest River Elementary School!
When PTA President Jackie Martin’s husband suffers a life-threatening car accident, she has no choice but to step down from her dream position. Unfortunately, the team is already short-staffed and struggling to fill the vacancy.
Only one woman is brave enough to step up and take over the reins, Ella Jamerson.
Mom to a first-grader, Ella has kept a low profile since her daughter entered the school because she has a huge secret. She’s actually Eleanor Saint James, the Emmy award-winning actress.
Tired of sitting idly by, Ella’s willing to risk her anonymity for a say in the schools’ politics. But when the team learns who their new leader really is, will they be able to handle the drama she’s about to bring?
Hilary Grossman is a recovering corporate executive. She spends her mornings and weekends hanging out with her "characters." She has an unhealthy addiction to denim and high heel shoes. She’s been known to walk into walls and fall up stairs. She only eats spicy foods and is obsessed with her cat, Lucy. She loves to find humor in everyday life. She likens life to a game of dodge ball - she tries to keep many balls in the air before they smack her in the face. She lives on the beach in Long Island.
The Forest River PTA Moms Series has a new addition today! Hilary Grossman has released book five named Mom Com. If you have read any of this series, you really need to read this one. It is so much fun to read. You'll love it!
It is nice to see the status quo of the PTA shaken up a bit. Their leader Jackie Martin has had to step down. The new PTA president is Ella Jamerson. She has a pretty tough row to hoe if you know what I mean. These women are vicious. They are so mean. We all know how some women can be. I can't wait for you, the PTA and the rest of the school to find out who Ella Jamerson really is. Wow!
I think this is the most fun book I have read in a little while. It was a nice break from heavier reads and it takes you out of your humdrum life and adds some spice, some frivolity and best of all some juicy gossip. Since I am no longer in the workforce, I don't hear much gossip and besides this doesn't hurt anyone and it is all for a good read. Right?
If you love Women's Humorous Fiction, you'll love this book. It is best if read with the whole series but, it does well as a stand alone. I think you will get a better idea of the history of all the women if you read the series from the beginning. I give this series my stamp of approval. I love Hilary Grossman!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are my very own.
The town's favorite PTA is back with a new leader at the helm.
This has been such a fun series to read. I love the cattiness, the friendships that develop, and the craziness of the situations as a whole. Are all PTAs like this? We will never know!
The new leader of this group is an actress, Ella. She has been absent from events at the school or in disguise so she didn't make it harder for her daughter to attend school. You know how people can get with celebrities.
However, Ella decides that it is time to act after reading an email from the Principal of the school. Her new role is not without bumps, but I love how it all comes together.
While we don't see much of the previous PTA President Jackie, just a few email responses, I felt like the rest of the characters helped fill in the gaps and provide tension at just the right time, and offset Ella's dry wit and no-nonsense attitude.
This is a series that is entertaining, and it makes me glad that I never had to deal with a PTA. I also loved Ella's husband, Conrad. He really steps up at times and is supportive of her career.
If you want to read this book, start with the first to see the character development.
I've been following this series from book 1. And have loved every book, but this book is almost the best one so far for me. It feels as if there is a slight shift in the "feel" of the book. Previous ones were hilarious but filled with incredibly bitchy, snobby PTA moms. The kind you loved to hate. They spread malicious gossip and saw their positions as esteemed members of the school's life. With Ella's arrival as new PTA president she shows the ladies that it doesn't take much effort to be kind and that one shouldn't judge anyone on physical appearances and treat them as less than equal. She also shows them how a famous image is not always the real person. She brings an element of kindness to this elite society. Her husband is polar opposites of the other ladies' husbands and/or ex-husbands, who I daresay would battle to recall if they had kids, nevermind what school they attend. Ella and Conrad are a match made in heaven and complement each other perfectly. I can't wait to see the direction Forest River PTA goes in any follow up books.
I love the latest addition to the Forest River PTA Moms series! At first, I wasn’t sure how I would feel with the loss of Jackie. She provided a level of drama glue that holds this PTA group together, often eliciting some popcorn-eating situations without even meaning to. But I adore Ella’s story, and I felt like she was the perfect person to fill Jackie’s big shoes.
Ella had purposely kept herself out of the way where her daughter’s education is concerned. She never wanted to bring any sort of unwanted attention, given her celebrity status. But when she sees the need for a PTA president, she makes the decision to come out of “hiding” and step up. The initial meeting with the current members does not go according to plan. Talk about drama! It really was next level, and it was so great to witness and read and see how the women try to navigate a new situation that none of them are familiar with.
The scene with Ella and the first day of school….wow. We often read about what celebrities go through when they are trying to live their lives normally, with cameras and the paparazzi shoved in their faces–Hilary Grossman did an excellent job of portraying that from Ella’s perspective. Ella even reflects on how she knows she’s blessed to be able to live the kind of life she lives, yet to be under such scrutiny, particularly when your family becomes involved in that media circus…I can only imagine how difficult that can be.
Ella brought along her own special brand of drama glue! Keep a bucket of popcorn next to you while you read Mom Com. A definite five-star experience!
Our favorite dream team is back with a vengeance, minus Jackie Martin. In this latest installment we are introduced to Ella. However, Ella holds a powerful secret, she is a famous actress who is on break from her show. She’s heard the PTA stories from her husband, yet can’t believe it is her new reality until she sinks her teeth in. Instead of making friends, she finds herself at odds with the “moms”. I absolutely adore the Mom Com series and truly can’t believe that a school PTA holds that much power and politics. This is a LOL, grab a beverage and sit back and enjoy type of book
Aside from the spelling mistakes riddled throughout and the improper use of trite sayings, the book started out ok with good development, but then abruptly ended. Like the writer just got tired and decided to end it. That was highly disappointing. Seems like a money grab…slap a similar cover on the book, call it the 6th one in a series, but don’t put much thought into the story. I won’t buy another book from this writer.
I think this might be my favorite of the Forest River PTA Moms books. I loved, loved, loved Ella but adored her husband Conrad. He’s the unsung hero. I might have shed a tear or two in the last pages. Easy to recommend.
