Ryshi—half-jinn, half-imp—is the only male who has ever managed to slip through the minotaur labyrinth and lived to tell the tale. He wasn’t so lucky when it came to stealing prized vampire artifacts. Caught and imprisoned, he now has a chance at freedom if he can rescue the gargoyle Levet from that same labyrinth. But he’ll have a minder on his mission in the petite, enticing form of Sofie, the vampire he’s been fantasizing about for a very long time . . .
Sofie is shunned and feared for her ability to control others’ minds. She didn’t ask for that gift, and she certainly doesn’t want to use those powers to control this gorgeous, sensual demon. Too bad a request from the Anasso isn’t up for debate. To rescue the gargoyle, she and Ryshi have to work closely together, and Sofie is compelled to lower her defenses around him in every way—though she expects him to disappear the moment their task is complete. But now that Ryshi has glimpsed what his future could be with Sofie, he’s ready to fight for her trust, even against the darkness within . . .
I'm not exactly sure when I fell in love with books. Probably on my mother's knee listening to her read Dr. Seuss to me. I do remember that I was barely old enough to cross the street by myself when I discovered the delights of the local library. Could anything be more wonderful than spending summer days surrounded by stacks of Nancy Drew mysteries? Over the years I fell in love with Victoria Holt, Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and J.R.R. Tolkien just to name a few. I read poetry, essays, biographies, and plays. In fact, I read anything I could get my hands on.
Years later (no, I'm not admitting how many) I'm still an avid reader, and my tastes are still as varied as they were in my youth, which I suppose helps to explain why I enjoy writing regency historicals under the name of Deborah Raleigh, as well as my contemporary paranormals as Alexandra Ivy. For now that is enough to keep me busy, but who knows what the future might hold!
I do have a few other loves in my life besides reading and writing, the most important being my unbelievably patient husband, David, and my two sons, Chance and Alexander. Without their constant support and belief in me, I never could have been able to follow my dreams. They are truly my heroes.
Sate the Darkness is book 20 in the Guardians of Eternity series and like most long running series you love some and some are misses. Unfortunately for me this book was a miss. Levet once again finds himself in trouble, he was kidnapped by Minotaur's and while Styx would like nothing more than to be rid of the little pest, he knows his mate would be heartbroken if he doesn't find a way to get him back. Ryshi is a half-jinn, half-imp who has been imprisoned by Styx for the past decade for sneaking into the Lairs of different vampires. Ryshi is the only one who has been known to enter the Labyrinth and escape so Styx makes a deal with him in exchange for finding Levet. Since Ryshi is a thief, he isn't trusted to go by himself, so Sophie is tasked to go with him. Sophie is a vampire who enjoys her solitude and is responsible for imprisoning Ryshi because she is able to take control of the minds of others. While I enjoyed Ryshi and Sophie together and loved what a great team they made the different points of view once again disturbs the flow of the story and the connection between who is the main couple. We had the story of Levet and why the Minotaurs wanted him, his Aunt Berther and Hades and then Ryshi and Sophie. At times I felt more interested in Berther and Hades. Overall, not my favorite but as a longtime fan I do look forward to more books in this series.

Most long running series can run out of steam and become repetitive but not this one ! The author clearly loves her characters and the world she has created and seems to imbue every book with action, humour and of course passion and love. This time the adorable Levet is in trouble as he’s been kidnapped by Minotaurs but never fear his aunt is on the case and quickly gets the Vampires to release Ryshi, the half Jinn, half Fae thief who can get into the Labrynth . Sofie is tasked with keeping Ryshi on track but in a place created by a Goddess not everything is as it seems ! Any time the story features Levet is always a joy to read. His aunt Bertha is also becoming a character to watch out for in subsequent books. Although this story contains the romance that takes place between Ryshi and Sofie it never felt unbalanced or overshadowed and I loved how all the threads were woven together giving the reader a romantic story that was fun and took me away from reality. This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
This new installment in the Guardians of Eternity series brings everything I've come to love about Alexandra Ivy's writing: an interesting plot with three interwoven storylines that switch perfectly throughout the book, amazingly imaginative settings, and the most snarky, witty humor that will have you smiling and laughing regularly.
This one picks up right where book 20 left off. The real star of the show in this one is Levet, of course. I really loved that he got these moments of humility among his sense of grandeur, especially when people finally start falling at his feet.
"One thing about jinn, Sofie, is that we are captivated by a challenge." "Get this straight, Ryshi. I am not a challenge." "Too late."
It's not unsurprising I really liked this book. Unfortunately though, the romance part of it fell flat on both accounts - Sofie and Ryshi, and Hades and aunt Bertha. I just didn't feel the chemistry throughout. There were definitely little moments where it sparked, but not enough to make me feel invested in a love story. I got more of a partners in crime vibe for Sofie and Ryshi than lovers, and don't get me started on the fated mates that was thrown in but could've given their storyline a lot of opportunities had it been introduced from the start.
It had a lot of potential on the romance part, but it sadly didn't come through for me. What kept me going was the plot, setting and the snarky comments that still made for a good time even though the romance wasn't entirely there for me. So 3.5 stars.
I'm looking forward to a new installment, in which we hopefully get some idea of what happened to the Sylvermist and the woman he kidnapped, because I cannot wait for their enemies to lovers arc!
**I read and reviewed an ARC I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.**
It’s always good to see what that little gargoyle is getting into and just how he gets out of whatever mischief he gets into. I hope there’s more minotaurs if future books.
I love this series and really enjoyed that your introduced to new characters in every book while also seeing older characters. The storyline was fast paced and fun to read with humor and romance while still giving you action as well definitely worth the read.

Sate the darkness is the 20th long novel in The guardians of Eternity series by Alexandra Ivy. At this stage, if you don’t know I’m a fan, I can’t do anything for you LOL. This book was as awesome as the others, and yet at a point I was really afraid I wouldn’t have all the answers to my questions. But no, once again Alexandra Ivy manages very well.
Sate the darkness takes place some times after the end of the previous volume, Stalk the darkness (review here https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... ). In theory it can be read alone but really, according to me, this series has to be read from the first volume. The main characters are totally new in the universe. We have Sofie, a very powerful vampire, and Ryshi, half djinn half imp. He has been caught red-handed stealing in the Chicago vampires’ lairs, and has been arrested with Sofie’s intervention. He’s been in jail for a dozen years in Styx’ dungeons. Ryshi is also known as the only one who went into the minotaurs’ labyrinth and exited alive. It’s because of this ability that he’s going to negotiate his freedom. Indeed, Levet has been kidnapped by the minotaurs and Ryshi is the only one able to free him. For this, he must team up with Sofie who can control the mind of all supernatural beings.
With this volume, the series takes on a new dimension that had been initiated in the previous volumes but here it’s much more pronounced. On one hand, Alexandra definitively introduces powerful new characters, one of which appears in Stalk the darkness and takes even more place here. I won’t say more about it and let the readers discover what I’m talking about. In any case, that will probably enable new adventures for our favorite heroes. On the other hand, the author focuses most on the adventure and the suspense. There’s always a main couple but the other secondary characters (Styx, Viper, Levet…) step in almost equally. I’d say the writing looks like scriptwriting: we feel like we are in a TV show. The question is what about the love relationship? It’s still very present. The author gives us a reunion between Ryshi and Sofie instead of a meeting and it avoids the obligations of each discovering the other’s personality. In Sate the darkness our heroes have secrets they must confess to each other before thinking about their common future. Evidently there’s no time for conflicts or misunderstandings, and it’s really fine with me.
To conclude I had a very good time once again with this new opus by Alexandra Ivy. I don’t what she has in store for the future but once again I’ll be there.
Levet is in trouble (again). I sear this mini Gargoyle should be wrapped in bubble wrap and stored somewhere for his own safety!
Minotaurs are almost a legend but they've popped up on the Anasso's lawn and kidnapped Levet for fulfil a prophecy. Unfortunately for the Styx, his mate and various others are rather fond of the knight in shining armour that Levet believes himself to be. The appearance of a huge, annoyed, Aunt Bertha spurs him on. The only man for the job is a half jinn/half imp super thief but he's currently in the dungeon and not exactly trustworthy. So, Styx has no option but to call upon a vampire, who can hold creatures minds within her reach, who'd rather hide out in the mountain than be around people.
Ryshi and Sofie have a history and neither of them are happy to have the other along for the ride. But somewhere within the fabled Labyrinth they start to fall for each other. Ryshi has met someone who can make him stay put and Sofie finds someone who doesn't want to make her instantly flee to solitude.
I love meeting all my favourite recurrent characters. The stories flow in and out of each other - no one couples story just ends when their book is over. We still get to see our favourites and root for them to finally get a book of their own. Bertha and a certain god would be hilarious and I'm really hoping for Inga to put Levet out of his misery eventually!
Usually when a series has been going as long as this one has, you worry that maybe, just maybe, that it's going to be the same story just told a different way. I am happy to say-this story isn't it! I still love this series just as much today as I did when I first started reading it!
In this one, we get Sophie and Ryshi's story. Sophie is a vampire that keeps to herself, but when the Anasso gives you a mission, you don't say no. And he needs her to keep Ryshi on task and doing what needs to be done. Ryshi has been a prisoner of the Anasso for a while, but when he is tasked with a mission to find a certain gargoyle (and take a vampire that he is curious about with him)-he knows that it may be his chance for freedom. Or information. All while getting out alive and rescuing Levet at the same time.
I really enjoyed this story. There was the laughter and action I always expect when it comes to this author, along with a great story that kept me involved and wanting to know more. I loved the characters of Sophie and Ryshi and their own backstory and how they come to be in their current lives. I loved the introduction of the Minotaur's and their world, along with how it all came about. The only thing that I wish, and it could be an upcoming book, is that there is a conclusion or love story for Levet's Aunt! That relationship between her and a certain someone has me completely intrigued! All in all, another great read in this series!!
What a thrilling ride! This book came out of the gate running and never stopped! I really enjoyed reading Ryshi and Sofie’s story! And of course Levet is bound to show up at some point!
Sofie is trying to find and rescue Levet and Ryshi is looking for his sister. He is half jinn and half imp and she is a vampire. Strange bedfellows…but maybe not! They are attracted to each other but Sofie is afraid he won’t want to be with her if he knows her power – one she didn’t ask for and really doesn’t want! But surprisingly it doesn’t matter to him. She is his mate.
They go on a roller coaster of a ride trying to find and rescue Levet…the gargoyle that always seems to find trouble. They end up in the minotaur labyrinth, one that Ryshi has been in before and came out alive…but there’s a power hungry minotaur who is basically smothering his people. They kidnap Levet thinking he’s a god and will help them. Then Inga, the Queen of the Merfolk, Gaia, a very ticked off god, and finally Ryshi and Sofie show up and things heat up!
Gaia sends everyone back to where they belong, takes out the trash (the power hungry minotaur) and sets the labyrinth world back the way she made it. Ryshi finds his sister and he and Sofie head off to continue the consummation of their mating. A very good ending for this book.
I always enjoy anything that Alexandra Ivy writes and this book is no exception! From start to finish, I was hooked. Another winner!
Another great read in the Guardians of Eternity. Each time I figure this is the last book in the series, a new one comes along with new members and new questions so I am looking forward to the next. I enjoyed each of the story lines or bu plots that all worked together to be one big plot. Inga and Levet, Bertha and Hades and of course the main characters, Sofie and Ryshi. I kept wondering how it would pan out with the Anasso at the end. Should have known Alexandra Ivy would have that covered. I also want to know who made the bargain and what was it? Ryshie took a bit to grow on me, but when he did, I was 100% in his corner. Levet can get on my nerves too, but seeing him grow a bit in this one was a pleasant surprise. I enjoyed Sate the Darkness as it was more a paranormal with romance, suspense, mystery and not constant hanky panky scenes. To me one can have romance, suspense without all the explicit physical scenes taking up pages and pages. ( I am trying to use words so that B&N doesn't block my review, ha). The old saying you can't please everyone all the time is a unfortunately every authors nightmare. As usual, Alexandra Ivy delivers, another reason she is an auto buy, even if I receive an arc:) Thank you for the arc I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions! #satethedarkness #guardiansofeternity #alexandraivy #lyricalpress #netgalley
How can this series still manage to surprise me, 20 books in? This combination of characters and setting were definitely not what I was expecting at all.
Sofie and Ryshi’s romance is definitely not standard. Ryshi was captured by the head vampire in charge when he was caught snooping around his house. How does one capture a half-jinn? Well, luckily there is a vampire with the powers to capture him in the form of Sofie. Sofie has committed to a life of self-imposed exile after her powers ended up making her a risk to others. Unfortunately, when the leader of the vampires says you need to escort a half-jinn into the famed labyrinth of the Minotaurs, you go.
Ryshi has been playing a long game. He could escape the prison he’s in at anytime but he isn’t done searching for his treasure yet. Said treasure also includes a vampire who captivated him. It’s on the journey together that they both uncover a deeper connection. Why are they on this trip? Well, of course it relates to Levet, unofficial god of mischief. He’s been taken and the combination powerhouse of Hades and Levet’s aunt force the vampire leader’s hands in the matter. If you’re joining the series this far in, just go with it. Either way, we get a sizzling romance, some fun adventure, and a really interesting world to explore all in one book!
With this series going on for so long you would think that after a while it would start to get repetitive but some how Alexandra always manages to make it seem new and fresh and this time it is the addition of the minotaur's that creates that freshness
The minotaur's have imprisoned Levet the gargoyle who is a long standing character in this series in their labyrinth and the only who may be able to find his way through and rescue him is Ryshi a half-jinn, half-imp because he is the only one to ever traverse the labyrinth and survive and he is available because he is serving time in Styx's goal for stealing vampire artifact The one who is sent to help him in this endeavour is Sofie the vampire with the mind controlling abilities and the woman who caught him and led to his imprisonment and he ahs never forgotten her. Now not only does he have to rescue Levet if he wants his freedom but he has to convince the woman he loves that he is the one for her and get her to start living life again after she has turned herself into a recluse. With plenty of adventures in front of these two be prepared for a wild ride.
Alexandra Ivy began the Guardians of Eternity series in 2007. It has managed to stay strong, interesting and unique even up to book twenty, Sate the Darkness. New characters, old favorites and a minotaur labyrinth rescue to perform. Ryshi, half-jinn, half-imp, is the charmer in the story while also being the one with questionable skills but needed skills. Sofie is the straight shooter who avoids others because of her mind controlling skills. Together they must free Levet from the minotaur labyrinth.
Much to like in this story such as the direction of the overall plot, the balance between suspense and romance, and a wiser more mature Levet. Never saw that coming but like it. Overall, most could read this as without having read the past books. BUT why would you do that? It is a series worth reading from the first to the twentieth.
An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I love Alexandra Ivy Romantic suspense series and cannot get enough of those stories. I have tried to read several of the Guardians of Eternity series and some of those stories are a hit or miss for these readers.
The author invites readers into her Paranormal world of demons, gargoyle, Jinn, Imp, and everything you can think of in the supernatural world she has created for her readers.
There are a lot of characters that come from different books and while you would think after 20 books the author would be repeating story lines (Only head a few so maybe) the author seems to bring a fresh new look to her series that will bring new readers into her world and cast of characters. The story has cheesy romance lines that will make readers laugh a little but hey sometimes you just need to escape from the real world and dive into the romance Alexandra Ivy has created.
Thank you to Netgalley for advance copy of Sate Darkness.
I finished rereading the first 13 books and then read the last seven in 5 days. Great stories all interconnected by common characters. Who wouldn't want a 6'5" vampire king. Lucky Darcy. This story introduced 2 new characters that fit right in, kicking butt and not taking names. I enjoyed all 20 books, but then I enjoy anything by Alexandra Ivy. I hope there are several more books in this series. It does help, at least it helped me, to read them in order to get a good feel of the world inhabited by all sorts of wonderful creatures. Especially Levet. You can't help being enchanted by him even when he is causing all sorts of problems. Please make his story next.
Sate the Darkness is book 20 in Alexandra Ivy’s Guardians of Eternity series, and a story packed with action, danger, intrigue and fiery chemistry. These are stories that draw the reader in and captivate and enthrall until thew last page is turned, as the characters weave a spell that ensures your undivided attention. A well-written storyline with plenty of banter and the ever-lovable Levet to lighten the mood. Sate the Darkness is a wonderful addition to this fabulous series and one that I thoroughly enjoyed and am happy to recommend it to all lovers of paranormal romance and delighted to add the print version to my extensive collection.
Ivy once again delivers an enjoyable story filled with delightful interesting characters, adventure, humor and romance. While this the 20th installment of the series, it would work well as a stand alone novel and introduction to her world filled with a variety of immortal creatures. Jinn/imp mix Ryshi is sent, along with vampire Sofie as guard, on a search (and possible rescue) mission for the infamous gargoyle Levet who's been taken by the mysterious minotaurs based upon a seer's prediction. Intrigue, romance and danger all help keep the pages turning while rooting for the HEA to win in the end.
Arc courtesy of net galley in exchange for a fair & honest review.
I received this ARC for an honest review. I like this series because Alexandra Ivy always introduce new characters while keeping the much loved characters. This story is about Sofie and Ryshi. The Anasso, Stix, told Sofie she had to find Levet with the help of Ryshi. Ryshi is imprisoned in Stix’s dungeon and Sofie is responsible for his imprisonment. Sofie has an unusual talent that she can leash someone’s mind to hers and they can’t leave her. What Stix and Sofie don’t know that Ryshi got himself imprisoned on purpose. Why? You have to find out by reading the book. I enjoy this series. Alexandra Ivy is good at world building and keeping the series interesting.
These books have gotten noticeably shorter, they used to be about twice as long, or close to, as they are now... That's my only real complaint, but its getting annoying as the prices haven't gone down any. I like this series but I think I'm going to start just waiting for my local library to get copies of future books. They don't take long enough to read to be worth the nearly $20 price tag, unless you get the ebook which is about $8 I think... With the Audio being more and I don't care for the narrator in the audio books lately... She reads to quickly, her accents are good and stuff but she reads like she is speed reading... All in all I am still giving it 4 stars, even if it is so short.
Levet, Avery unusual gargoyle, is believed to be a God by the miniatures. Their world is falling apart and they want Levet to save them. His Aunt Berths and the God, Hades, go to the vampire king to get him back. Styx sends a half JInn, half imp with one of his female vampires to rescue Levet. During the rescue attempt, love pops up to unite unlikely couples. Any story featuring Levet is always numerous and exciting.
Sate the Darkness is the latest in Alexandra Ivy's Guardian's of Eternity series, AKA the 'Chronicles of Levet, lol. Ryshi and Sofie are tasked with rescuing Levet and discover much more along the way. Levet is my favorite character but I enjoy meeting new and interesting characters in each book. Levet's Aunt Bertha is becoming a favorite too. A great book for paranormal romance lovers.
I enjoyed the romance... a lot:) They had met before and it had left lasting impressions on each of them about the other. Now, they are forced to complete a rescue together, it is tricky, but they work well together and grow closer in the meantime. It is an interesting, light hearted adventure with a good romance included. I wanted more...
I'm a long time lover of this series and was pleasantly surprised at this book you have a nice mix of suspense drama action and a very low heat level. She kicks paranormal romance up a notch with each new book always trying to give the reader a new experience but maintaining her vision for this series. I received a advance readers copy and I am leaving this review voluntarily
It took me a bit to get into this book but when I did, I enjoyed the friendship turn romance of Sophie and Ryshi. Both carried emotional baggage and felt alone. Each had gifts that would enable them to rescue a beloved gargoyle. They work together and learn to rely on each other physically and emotionally. I read this on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was fun, steamy, action packed and I couldn't put it down. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is book 20 in the Guardians of Eternity series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as others by this author.
Omg where do I start. I loved how it starts with Levit right away an then all the others in series fall right back into place even tho it been awhile since I've read books before this. Loved story of Sofie an Ryshit. Two opposite for sure but worked so well together. Can't wait to see who's story is next!!
As usual another great addition to this series. I really enjoyed how the two plots entwined to create a great story. In true Levet fashion he again saved the day. Sofie and Ryshi make an interesting pair. I really enjoyed their adventure, and the chemistry was sweet and passionate. I thought this was a pretty quick read and loved every second of it.
Levet has been taken by the minotaur’s and as much as Styx would like to leave him where he is he has Bertha on his property, and she won’t leave without help. He also knows his wife would not be please if anything happened to the three-foot gargoyle, so he has one option release Ryshi and have Sophie go with him to bring Levet home. Another great addition to the series and one I recommend.
I really enjoyed this book, just like all of the others in this series. I love the characters and always enjoy reading about their latest adventures. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
