Hell Fae #1

Hell Fae Captive

Rate this book
Welcome to the Hell Fae Realm, a place where only the strong survive.

My parents made a deal with the devil and now I’m a Hell Fae Captive.

Enslaved. Owned. Thrown to the Hellhounds and expected to survive.
Because only survivors earn their mates.

It doesn’t matter that I don’t want to be a bride.
I’m a Halfling. Part Hell Fae and part girl-who-doesn’t-give-a-shit.
But because of a bargain, he owns me.

Lucifer. The Hell Fae King who created this godforsaken realm.
Also known as the orchestrator of these deadly bride trial games.

Okay, Luci, I’ll play.
By burning this whole kingdom to the ground.

Assuming I don’t get caught in the hot Midnight Fae Warden’s web first.
Or ensnared by the brooding Hell Fae Commander lurking outside the gates.
And don’t even get me started on the Hell Fae King’s favored prince. That sexy lunatic won’t stop sending me gifts.

No amount of hotness or sensual persuasion will keep me here.
I’m not bride material.
I’m a menace.

You made a deal for the wrong girl, Lucifer.
Prepare for the fight of your life.

Authors’ Note: Hell Fae Captive is a dark kidnap paranormal romance with four tormented mates and no choosing required. If you like your anti-heroes dominant and sexy, you’ve come to the right realm—the Hell Realm where the romance is hot and no forgiveness is required.

Hunger Games in Hell!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘📔
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏🌎
Character development: ☹️🙃☺️😳😎
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration Type: Duet Narration

The heroine: Camillia (a.k.a. Cami) - She is a halfling, half Hell Fae and half Human. Her parents made a deal with Lucifer and she was the payment. Her parents were never loving parents, but her father did train her to fight and trained her about other Hell Fae. She was captured by the warden of the Hell Fae Brides and brought to Hell for the Bride Trials. Not many women survived the trials so there weren’t many women in Hell. The ones who did ended up bound to five men. Though the men were also bound to each other.

The Heroes: Typhos, Melek, Azaezel and Ajax - Ajax is not a Hell Fae, he is a midnight Fae (a vampire) and the warden of the Bride Trial Games designed by Lucifer. He has magic and carries a wand to help control it. He and Az are best friends and lovers. Az is a rare black phoenix and is Lucifer’s right hand man. Malek is the deceitful prince of Hell who knows how to make a deal as well as Lucifer. Typhos is Lucifer’s first name and he is the King of the Hell Fae and a master of making a deal. Melek and Typhos are lovers and bonded mates.

The Story: This is billed as a reverse harem but in this first book, it is mostly super sexy MM scenes, since Cami is busy trying to survive and get through the games, though I still see it as a reverse harem. While the men are getting busy themselves, they can’t seem to keep Cami out of there minds, Ajax and Melek especially. Though the men did find time to either help or torment her in various ways throughout the book and there was one menage scene that was very steamy.

This book was told in multiple point of view in duet narration by a nearly full cast of terrific narrators. I liked all of them and this one was a pleasure to listen to. Narrated by Troy Duran, Gregory Salinas, Kale Williams, and Lisa Zimmerman. All of these guys had terrific voices which matched their characters perfectly and this was a great listen!

The storyline was interesting and original, though if I would have looked ahead before starting this book, I definitely would have waited till April when the next book comes out before starting this one and making sure that next book is going to be the last in the series, or waiting for the entire series. I like binging series much more than reading them months or years apart and this one did have a cliffhanger ending. Though I definitely will grab the next book(s) when they come out.

⭐️ 5 Stars for the storyline ⭐️
🌟 1 Star for Reverse Harem 🌟

I’m really torn about how to rate this book! If I’m basing it on the storyline I would rate this 5 stars. The story is phenomenal. It’s unique and interesting; there a twists and turns that keep you guessing. This was so much fun to read!

However, if I’m rating this book on being a reverse harem romance, then I’d only give it one star. This book is really out of my comfort zone in regards the their relationships. It seems there are four men who might end up being in her ‘harem’… but I’m using that term really loosely. If anything, this will be a poly relationship. There isn’t going to be a harem focused around the FMC. I can’t see that ever happening here.

As I was saying, there are four males who might end up being with the FMC. Each set of males is already in a bonded and/or committed relationship. One set of males don’t even want her to be a part of their relationship, they want to use her as a “pet”. None of the males see her as a person, they all see her as an acquisition. None of them even attempt to treat her with kindness. Most of the time they don’t even care if she dies or not.

This book is pretty much only MM. There is one scene where the FMC gets oral, but besides that there are probably six or more scenes with only the male couples having sex alone. That’s not what I’m looking for in an RH.

I really loved this story though, so I’m going to continue the series and hope it swings towards rh in the future. Hope the males treat her better.

To call this book a Reverse Harem Romance is a stretch.
This book is a MM romance with a spicy female character.
There is only 1 romantic scene with a female and it doesn't involve her having sex. There are at least a dozen sexual scenes with MM.
I like the book but it wasn't as described. I wanted a reverse harem not a MM with light female play.
I will be reading book 2 I preordered it with the hope it will progress to the book I wanted for #1.

Man on man not listed

So this book was suggested to me as I had finished another book. I both own and have read a lot of Lexi’s books, so I decided to give this one a shot. Thankfully I didn’t buy this one right away. I have gotten way too smart with authors not listing things in their descriptions.

Only 4 percent into the book and it leads you to believe that 2 of the guys are already in a relationship. By 5 percent they are betting sexual favors to each other. If it’s your thing so be it, but it’s not mine and I read descriptions to the end to make sure I’m not downloading something I don’t want.

I have to say I’m at least thankful it was at the beginning of the book and not making me read halfway to realize the book isn’t as it seems. Thoroughly disappointed in Lexi though!

What a fantastic start to a new series this was, it captured my attention from the start and the five main characters all played a part in the intrigue, magic, danger, intensity and heat (and not just the temperature you'd expect in the Hell Fae realm, but from four very different but seriously alluring, brooding, dangerous, powerful males) - I love mm and phew...... Typhos and Melek, Az and Ajax as pairs were thigh clenchingly hot. The steamy scenes were MM in the majority apart from one mmf scene towards the end, but I'm sure much more is coming (pun intended). I loved all of them the more their secrets and personalities were unveiled. It is certainly an intriguing twist on Lucifer and hell and it was good to see Ajax again after what had happened in the Midnight Fae series (which actually doesn't need to be read first).

Camillia (Cami) herself was a star. Kidnapped and taken to the Hell Fae realm against her will to take part in the Bride Games, a series of brutal trials designed to weed out the weak and unworthy to find the strongest female mates for Lucifer's Hell Fae males. She was strong, feisty, determined, sassy and very resourceful even as she found herself fighting for her life. Her sass and iron will got her noticed though, by a quartet she should have kept very far away from, but as time went on was drawn closer towards as they were to her.

I listened to the audio version and how brilliant it was. All the narrators were excellent and brought this book to life, but I have to say I absolutely loved how they all interacted in each chapter and spoke their own characters words, no matter whose POV the chapter was. Very unusual but I really hope the authors will continue with this format in the future as it is so much better than hearing men doing females voices and vice versa. (Also we get to hear more of the likes of Troy Duran speak ;-) )

This does finish on a big cliffhanger ending, so what with needing to know what happens next with Cami as well as finding out how the games Melek is playing will turn out, I will be on the edge of my seat, crossing everything in the hope that the second part to this series comes soon!

This was really good?

Ok ... If you are uncomfortable with m/m sexual relationships you'll want to skip this book. I was completely caught off guard with the m/m content. (Probably my own fault) Im not necessarily bothered by m/m, but it doesn't do anything romantically for me either, so I usually don't gravitate to books heavy with m/m.

That being said, this book is about a girl that finds out her father traded her to the devil to pay off his debts. She is captured and taken to the underworld to participate in the bride trials. This fiesty character is having none of this and sets out to find a way to get out of this devil's contract. In the process of doing this she catches the eye of three (four if you include the devil) of the most powerful beings in the underworld.
The book is kind of a mind f*ck which is what is making me question whether I liked this or not. We know prince melek is playing a very elaborate game with the devil regarding Camilia with the ultimate goal of bringing her into his and the devil's bond. We also know that Camilia is not what she seems (1/2 human, 1/2 hell fae) My mind is still trying to unravel it all.

One other thing: this book references another series that may have provided background and context.
Ok ... I think this is a spinoff from midnight fae academy. I read the first book in that series, don't remember it much, but couldn't handle the MFC (too self sacrificing for me)

I wanted RH not MM, it's not RH and I don't particularly like MM, if it had warned that in the description I would have never of read it.
Compared to the other series these authors do this was very underwhelming and boring. Quite predictable as well. Won't be continuing.

MM was honestly annoying and ruined this. This was a male quad with a FMC as an afterthought.

Hell Fae Captive, by the amazing writing duo of Lexi C Foss and JR Thorn is yet another utterly captivating and oh so brilliant dive back into the Elemental Fae realms and absolutely phenomenal!!! The way these two authors combine forces to create such a magical world and deliver such an amazing storyline with an incredible plot and dynamic characters is absolutely inspiring! And this one is no exception!!!

Cami, our fierce FMC, is absolutely amazing! She’s passionate, resilient, insightful, and so dang intelligent she’s definitely one of my favorite characters! Even after being sent to the Hell Fae realm by her father and forced to participate in the Bride Trials, she doesn’t let life knock her down. I love how she always follows her heart and continues down her own path and isn’t afraid to take names along the way.

And the guys?!?? 🥵🥵🥵 Ajax Az, Melek and Typhos are just the dark, delicious and perfectly swoon worthy dominating alphas a girl like Cami needs! I absolutely loved the diversity of each of her men and seeing how they each developed their own relationships/bonds individually as well as with each other. ;) And if at first you hate the idea of Lucifer setting up the trials once you find out why it’s definitely enlightening so don’t let that deter you!

The entire premises of this book was one that I was 100% there for and they did NOT disappoint!!! If you’re a fan of paranormal RHs and bachelorette type shows—this is definitely the one for you! Full of intrigue, action and anticipation regarding the bride trials i couldn’t stop reading! If you’re a fan of dark kidnap paranormal RH romances full of sexy domineering alphas anti-heroes you love to hate, fierce heroines that can hold their own, sexy steamy chemistry (including some hot as hell mm scenes) then this is the book for you! And you better buckle up because it’s quite the ride—and fair warning, it’s got a delicious twisty cliffhanger that will leave you screaming for more!

Rating- 4
Entire series rating-3.5
Heat- 2 but increases to a 4 later
Tropes- captive, MMMMF, enemies to lovers, heroine doesn’t know what she is
Need to know- takes place in the same universe as her other fae series with crossover characters

Review for entire series.

Lexi C Foss is a one click author for me. Unfortunately every time I dive into her fae world, I end up disappointed. I expected this to be a series where the heroine was forced to compete in a series of trials against other “brides” for a prize she didn’t want, a mate. Unfortunately, that part of the plot is very minuscule. Cami is removed from the trials early and spends all her time with the men who will eventually become her mates. We never really see the competition. We never get to know the other women. In fact, interactions with other characters is pretty limited. I feel like I never really got a sense of the kingdom and the power wielded by the MMCs because we never saw them among their subjects.
The speed of the burn varies among the different relationships. One immediately decides she is a mate, but there is no heat until several books in. Others have a short period of time where they are enemies. And the last is an adversary until almost the last book. The push pull factor is intense.

Hell Fae Captive😈

Cami is a halfling, half human and half hell Fae. She has been fighting on and off bloodhounds who keep attacking her, she’s not sure why they are showing up but continues to fight until she meets her match in Ajax😉 Ajax is a powerful fae and manages to capture Camilla and welcomes her to Hell and the Bride Trials….huh what? Cami is definitely not interested in being anyone’s pet and keeps resisting. Ajax is intrigued by her and she impresses him every step of the way but there are few others she has impressed as well❣️

This story is definitely intriguing and that ending…just wow😱 I can’t wait to find out what happens next and for the ending to be revealed in more detail. I received an advanced copy and voluntarily leave my honest review❤️

I was totally hooked on this book where nothing is as it seems in the Hell Realm.

Cami has been sold to Lucifer as a deal her parents made and has come to the attention of the warden straight away, Lucifers minions are lonely and want a strong bride so he has made a competition for his demon's to win a bride at the games.

This is nothing like i thought it would be like, i went on a thrilling roller coaster of a ride that this author took me on, be prepared you are in for a surprise along with Cami as she goes through the games and who is on her side.

Can't wait for the next instalment to this crazy Hell Fae world where there are smoking hot Fae that will leave you panting for more, don't have a favourite yet but AZ is definitely up there.

4-4.25⭐️’s - I really enjoyed this book… but there is a TON of unanswered questions, despite the length of this book.
All of that said, I can’t give a higher rating because I am a selfish bitch and want the next book now, but it seems this author takes a year per book to write. Granted, they might have a “real job”, but I’d hope this book gives them the income to write full time and cut those writing timelines by 1/4. 😜 Yes… I’m selfish and impatient.
I also don’t like the 9000 questions I have and zero answers… given the pace of this first book… there might be 10 more books. And I won’t want to wait 9 more years to find out what happens.

Welcome to the Hell Fae Realm, a place where only the strong survive. Cami is our female mc who totally kicks ass and does not take things lying down especially as she battles it out in the deadly bride games designed by Lucifer himself. Throw in some super hot, super deadly fae anti hero’s , some excitement, some danger, some action, some twists and turns you will not see coming and you have your self one ‘hell’ of a read that you will not be able to put down as we follow Cami on her dark paranormal journey.

Cami has been captured and taken to Hell as part of a deal her parents made with Lucifer. Cami has to take part of a number of trials all designed to cull the amount of brides Lucifer can offer his Hell Fae. Cami has caught the attention of the warden, Lucifer and his two mates and not in a good way. All Cami wants to do is find a way out of the deal.

Hell Fae Captive might be my new favorite book by Lexi Foss and J.R. thorn! Even though it’s set in the same universe as Elemental Fae Academy and Midnight Fae Academy, the storyline of this book was completely different. This book gave me The Hunger Games vibes, only way spicier🔥

As always with their books I just finish it in no time . There’s just something about their writing style that has you flying through the book!

So if you like RH with MM in it, this could be just the book for you.

Why not indulge a bit while I find the exit? 😋

Cami is not taking any of this lying down
Expect the unexpected from this candidate
She will figure out how to either break the deal, make a new one, or just plain walk away -
Those are the only three choices she will accept

I believe this is one of the few times where all the male leads actually brought something unique to the table - Enough so that I was a touch enamored with each of them - Why Choose has a whole new meaning with this Quintuple

I'm curious about dear old dad though
And that ending???

A high tension, Smexy as sin, Why choose romance

My big complaint is the cover art. A real turn off that made me skip over this one for a long time... But it was pretty good. I would've picked it up sooner but I'm not ashamed to say I DO judge a book by its cover. And this one's cover is no good.
This story and concept were very interesting and I enjoyed the trails and the fantasy of it all... However this book was heavy on the mm content and that's just not what I'm here for. A little bit here and there is great but I don't think a book should be advertised as why choose or RH if it's more a poly romance or mostly mm content... I guess that'll change in the next book at least I hope so.

Nooooo

It was just getting interesting, like when you finally get to the bones of a book then you tell me 2023!!!

Because I read midnight fae academy it wasn't hard to get absorbed into the world build so I just flowed into this book. I like Cami, she's easy to like,it seems her whole life has been horrible but she's hasn't turned nasty for it. I'm literally rooting for her. So okay then 2023 my days.

4.5 stars! Cami is essentially traded to the Hell Fae realm by her father, where she is forced to participate in the Bride Trials, much to her absolute horror and dismay. She’s very independent and strong - the only one of the bride trial candidates that truly put up a fight against the guardians who were sent to retrieve her. Her tenacity is exactly what makes her all the more intriguing to all these men in the Hell Fae Realm, making her situation even more difficult (for her).

I loved all the interactions between the characters. The way that Cami impacts each of these males is unique for each one, but they are all significantly impacted, even when they don’t want to be. But not only that, but the interactions between the male characters. Lucifer (aka Typhos), as the Hell Fae Realm King, demands respect, but he has deep respect and care for the people that he leads. He does what he can to help them, including setting up these bride trials to bring in women to the realm, when they aren’t typically accepted by the source, and when he doesn’t have any desire for that for himself. Ajax is dealing with the loss of love, but Cami reminds him of her, and it impacts him deeply, and he finds himself leaning into Az even more than usual for release. Az has an interesting relationship with Ajax, they use each other for release, and have a very close kinship. Melek, as Typhos’ mate, doesn’t understand his draw towards Cami, but he is fiercely loyal to Typhos, and there is clearly deep affection between them beyond the physical.

While this is an RH series, in this first book, there is a lot of establishing of the relationships between not only Cami and the four males, but the relationships between the males - including power, physical, and emotional dynamics. There is tons of spice, from strong sexual tension all the way to full blown, knock your socks off physical interactions, and I loved all of it.

The end of the book throws in a very unexpected twist that had me going “WHAT??” I can’t wait to see what happens now!

Fae
Reverse Harem (ish)
Multiple POVs

Second read and I’m upping my stars. The story is captivating and world building chefs kiss. Touted as a reverse harem, but it’s not really the focus here (being book one). There are multiple MM relationships however that rain spice down like fire 🥵. Highly recommend.

Debating between 3-4 stars.

THAT ENDING what the hell? Pun intended. It was goooood but damn it I was promised a incredible bdsm and I barely got any. Also whyyyy fade to black in some sceneeesss, whyyy!!!

Let me just POINT OUT BTW that this time maybe for the fist time I was looking more foward to reading the guys chapterss (im looking at you melek) than reading the fmc jajajajaj but I was fineeeeee with that! (Even skipped the trial chaoter of cami but shhhhhhh! Jajajaja)

I LOVED that in the harem there are two mm!! Is soo great honestly. I saw alot of similarities in the oersonalities of the midnight academy characters like KIND OF:

Kai is Ty
Melek is shade
Az is zeph
Ajax is kols

I felt like there are some holes in ghe story here and there, like I APPRECIATED that we skipped the whole backfround story of cami but at the same time when ghe story started I was like wait... am I in book 1 or 2? So yeah needs a bit of work but overall it was ALMOST what I wanted.

I think book 2 WILL be what I was expecting from this one...

The attraction between the fae? Hhhmmm kind of too instant... for some is slightly justifiable but for others... maybee i would have appreciated a slower burn BUT it's FINEEEEE! Like really it's fine I just wanted the bdsm moments not gonna lie...

But apparently book 2 will start mega frustratingggg because I was HELLA clnfuseeedd with what happened tbh like MEGA confused. I need tl read that again. Im just hoping 2nd book wont be like 60-70% of the book ajax explaining how they were looking for her because it would kind of ruin it for me...

Why do I have to wait for april. Damn. It. All.

*edit* you know it kind of feels like cami is being forced in between this couples (and not even by her choice JAJA so csnt be mad at her), for purely SELFISH reasons I still enjoy that she is the center of it all but honestly? We could have gone without her in the whole story. I was not interested in her at all JAJA even thlugh she IS cool and badass and not a cry baby like Aflora was. It just fills like we are trying to piece together a rounded pizza with a squared slice... do you get me? I was ALWAYS looking foward to ty and melek scenes and ajax and az to be PERFECTLY honest here JAJAJAJ
