Once upon a time, Ghost was the best enforcer the Reapers MC had ever known—until the Hydra appeared and destroyed everything he’d worked for. After witnessing corruption down to the very core of their club, his only option was to take off his cut and leave.
But no matter how far he's run, or how many things about himself he's changed, Nate has come to realize he will never be able to escape the man he was. Ugly monsters have risen from the ashes of everything he burned down, and now they're threatening his future.
Nate understands that the only hope the Broken Chains have to win against Hydra is to cut out his heart. And he's willing to risk anything to make that happen, including his own freedom, to ensure everyone walks away from that final fight. Especially Rory, the only man who has ever held Nate’s heart in a vise.
For Rory, Nate’s willing to be reckless. For Rory, Nate’s willing to take every single one of Hydra’s hits. For Rory, Nate’s willing to do anything.
Rory knows the chaos must end—one way or another, someone isn’t walking out alive. He's tired of running, and he's tired of hiding. He didn't ask to be born into the MC life, and he knows it's not his future, but a man with a Nomad patch on his cut and tenderness in his calloused hands gives him a reason to stay. All Rory really has to do is live.
Well, that, and to convince Nate that in spite of their age difference, and in spite of their history, they can survive this rising tide.
Rising Tide is the fifth and final book of the Broken Chains MC series which is best read in order. It is an age-gap, morally grey romance containing no cheating, with a happily ever after.
Since the day Rory got introduced in the first book I immediately loved him. And finally, finally he’s got his own Happy End 🥺
Rory is a strong, sarcastic and cheeky young man. And Nate the opposite. He is the steady, calm one who handles Rory’s sassiness.
Nate and Rory were such a cute couple. I loved their chemistry and how they fell in love. They really kind of completed each other.
The plot itself was great with all the scheming to finally bring down Hydra. However I felt like the ending was a little too rushed. I wished it was a little more elaborated.
Nevertheless I really enjoyed reading this book. I can’t believe this was the last one. Definitely a good ending to this series.
Happy Release Day to EM Lindsey and this most highly anticipated conclusion to the Broken Chains MC series where we finally get Rory and Nate’s story.
This last book finally wraps the long standoff the Chains have had with the awful Hydra and his club when Rory puts his foot down and comes up with a plan to draw out the enemy. A plan that makes his president older brother Aaron aka Smokey and Nate almost lose their minds with worry. The book follows the Chains as they (reluctantly) put this plan into effect with the end goal of getting Rory out of this mess alive and hopefully with Hydra and his men no longer a problem for any of the clubs who’ve suffered at his hands.
I think Rory is my favourite part of this book. We’ve gotten to know him throughout the series but largely through Smokey’s eyes as the little brother he has always protected and looked after. But Rory is adamant that nothing will stand in the way of his independence; not his disability and certainly not his brother’s sometimes smothering need to look after him. The two butt heads a lot but it is very clear how much love there is between them, and how much they are both looking to just live out their lives in peace. Rory is unafraid to ask for what he wants, especially when it comes to the much older man he has been crushing on since he was a child. I loved his boldness and his confidence as far as Nate was concerned and the passion between them was absolutely sizzling. Similarly, Nate has to reconcile the choices he made in the past and where he fits in with this beautiful young man. In some ways, though Nate is the grittier one of the two on paper, he knows precisely how to soften Rory’s jagged edges, developed after a lifetime of people underestimating him.
I’m going to miss this group of characters and couldn’t recommend this series more! Rising Tide is out today and a perfect read for fans of age gaps, brother’s best friend love stories with lots of found family vibes, hardened MC men who are still soft for their loves (and for each other), a little bit of action and a steamy romance.
CW’s: some violence including gunshots and gunshot wounds; mentions of past torture, violence and blood; references to past SA (nothing described on page).
CN’s: Please note that this book is about a motorcycle club and includes characters who are somewhat morally grey and take matters into their own hands. This book contains on-page sex between the main characters with mild elements of one character giving up control to the other.
3.5 stars - I was undecided about finishing this series but when I learnt it was about dear blind Rory with his micropenis I was intrigued. I love reading about atypical mcs, especially those with chronic illness or a disability and we are hinted at this relationship between these characters in recent books so there was a lot of anticipation for them. Unfortunately I felt similarly for this book as the others in the series, I always felt left wanting something more, something deeper. The relationship here felt too easy considering all the barriers they were fighting against. Same with the major motorcycle club plotline. This was building for the whole series but ended so easily and in just a few pages. Hydra was so untouchable for four books but then eliminated so simply it was a bit of a letdown. The books was short, I’d have loved it to be longer and get grittier in the plot.
I wanted to love these two together but something about the relationship didn’t appeal to me. Not sure if this was the age thing with Nate being so much older and having been involved in Rory’s life since he was in diapers or just their interactions together sometimes felt unequal. Rory being blind and physically small due to his pituitary condition doesn’t help this. They talk about how Rory used to have hero worship for Nate after he rescued him from the assault as a kid and they do say he loves him as a man now but I didn’t feel it, they hadn’t really spent much time together as adults to base that on. I loved how the author handled Rory having a micropenis but in this setting with Nate being at least 20years older and having cared for Rory as a kid, combined with Rory’s child sex abuse history I couldn’t help feeling a little cringe when he talked about his ‘little’ penis in the sex scenes. Nate was a good character and they had chemistry but I didn’t feel like he fit as Rory’s forever partner.
The cute banter at the end about romance novels was probably my favourite part.
I tossed up rounding this up to 4 stars but ultimately it felt flat and didn’t deliver what I expected it to so I’ve kept it a 3.

Rising Tide is the final book in the Broken Chains MC series and wraps up both the series arc, as well as the relationship for Nate and Rory. Things have been building in the conflict with Hydra since the start of the series, and so this book will best be read when familiar with at least some of the other books. Rory and Nate have both been prominent side characters in the series, and Rory is a particularly fascinating one. He was basically raised by his brother, but has no real interest in the MC life, preferring academia. It could have been easy — and far more common — for Lindsey to make Rory vulnerable, innocent, and lost amidst the violence of the MC world. But instead, Rory is strong, confident, and quite comfortable with the violence that accompanies the MC life — and definitely able to dish it out himself. Rory doesn’t want pity or coddling and he has a wicked tongue he will unleash on anyone who tries to give him either. So he is a really interesting juxtaposition of the historian working on his doctoral thesis, but also a man who can stand up to kidnappings and violence with barely a blink.
I cannot believe that the series is over! I have been waiting for Nate and Rory's story since the beginning, and it did not disappoint. I felt like they were the most romantic couple of the series, and I felt the depth of emotion from both. It made me want more of these two in the future. I actually love how prickly and stubborn Rory could be, and that Nate was the only one who could calm those rough edges. It just really worked for me.
The overarching storyline with Hydra was finally completed, but I wanted to see a little bit more from the conflict. I sure didn't want Rory injured, but I would have liked to have seen more of this evil character that has been threatening the Broken Chains MC for the last five books. It felt a little anticlimactic.
I am going to miss all of these guys. They have a special place in my heart. Plus, I want to see Forge and Henri's story! These two seem very sweet. All in all, it was the great end to the series and an example of what I love best about E.M. Lindsey's work: broken men who love fiercely and form a family that can survive anything. ❤️
I received an ARC from the author for my honest review
Rising Tide is the fifth and last book in the Broken Chains MC series. Rory is Aaron’s blind brother, Ghost/Nate was tasked with helping to protect him when he was a child with the Reapers. He was tired of the toxicity of the Reapers, so he left and became a cop. When the Broken Chains needed help, he left to become Nomad. I freaking loved Rory and was glad that we got his story too. Rory told you like it was, he didn’t have any fear due to his upbringing. The conclusion to the Hydra story line was not as graphic as the previous books but it actually fit perfectly for Rory and Nate story. Overall, a phenomenal story!! Well written with pacing that hooked me. Read it in one sitting.
Nate and Rory are a great couple. I was rooting for them in previous books and was glad to see it happen in Rising Tide. And they work! They really are great together. The only reason why this wasn't a 5 star read for me was the fact that the actual climax the book was working towards, the resolution of the overall drama was over too quickly. After all the trouble they have had with Hydra I felt that there should have been one more twist and turn. Ok, it's not like these characters didn't deserve a quiet happy end. Not at all. It was just this tiny kick that was missing. Apart from that, I enjoyed their story and it's development a lot!
What a wonderful conclusion to this series. I have been waiting for Nate and Rory book
Rory tells You how it is. He doesn’t mix words. He is blind and working on his doctorate and thrown into this war. Nate is hate to say lost These teo have had a connection since Rory became an adult. Although never taking things further until now.
Loved The conclusion of the story and Hydra got what was Meant for him Because Rory was courageous enough to say enough is enough and let’s finish this.
I’m assuming this is the end of the series and Lindsay was true to her self and her characters. I have no complaints other than it was short and I wanted more but that could be because I’m a piggy, piggy reader when I’m happy. It worked.
Rory was the one the kept getting kidnapped. This time it was on purpose. This time with his lover Nate and brother Smokey, he takes back his power. The powerful ending to this series.
** This review has been electronically translated into English.
It was disappointing, but I expected it.
It could have been longer, more elaborate and developed, especially because it is a book at the end of a series that ends a drama that has been developing since the first book. There were 5 books, and in the last one, the guy who abused, manipulated, killed and terrorized everyone (at least in the past, outside of the story), only appears in the last chapter of the book, does nothing and that's it. I felt cheated.
The truth is that this villain did not pose a real threat to anyone. He was mentioned as manipulating and being sadistic in the past, but in the present where the story was set, he was just a shadow. I understand that the author did not want to delve into the subject of sexual abuse of a child, in Rory's case, after all, not everyone has the courage and stomach of Sloane Kennedy, but when combined with all the other things in the book that were camouflaged, softened and implied, it did not go down well. I could have said what happened, without going into detail, but the way it was presented or not presented in this case was not good. If you want to use a theme, use it responsibly and respectfully, but use it correctly.
When the villain really became THE VILLAIN in book two, I thought: "Wow, this is going to be tough." He was absent, illusory, weak, but not really dangerous.
Inconsistencies. The author implied in the first books that the computer guy, the hacker, was Kicks, but in this book he only served to agree with Rory and nothing else. The role of computer badass passed to Forge, who in the first books was a strategist and a beast in vehicle automation.
Another inconsistency. In book 4, Jax had left his club, and he himself said that the end of his relationship with the Cobras happened with a meeting with his father on the border of the territories where his father destroyed his cut. And he became part of the Chains. Not to mention his friend, Tek, who had also left that Cobras branch, going to one in Boston, according to the book. In this one, none of that happened.
It wasn't all bad, because I liked Rory and Nate, more in the other books than in this one, but it is what it is. There was no romance here, they had known each other for most of their lives and at that moment they hooked up. Bang. That's it. Everything was very easy, convenient, simple. I'm going to stop writing, otherwise I'll lower the rating even more.
There is no real violence in this book. There was, yes, a mention of what could have happened in a very superficial way. Not even Rory's rescue was really detailed since it was dark and no one could see anything, including the reader. LOL
If you're afraid of having flashbacks of abuse, there isn't. Blood, beatings, mutilation, graphic gunshots, there isn't. Abuse, human trafficking, torture, there isn't. Read it with peace of mind. There is absolutely nothing. Nothing.
I would ask for a book about Henry and Forge, BUT, I have no hope that it could be good. I have a few books by this author on my bookshelf that I want to read and now I'm in doubt. If they are all like this one in this series, it's not worth it. I'll think long and hard before investing in something.
This conclusion to the major conflict facing the Broken Chains MC and the final relationship we’d been teased was absolutely worth the wait. I wasn’t able to re-read the previous books, but I had no problem slipping back into this world with these characters. Rory, the club president’s younger brother, has been a constant presence in the series, while Nate has had a much more complicated arc through the storyline. Initially, I wasn’t sure about their romance potential, but Lindsey immediately brings to life the connection seeded in previous books in a way that made me all-in on their love story.
Bringing the series’ overarching external plot to a close in a book that features two men who technically aren’t part of the MC is a bold choice that never wavers in Lindsey’s capable hands. I enjoyed that a man who was not technically a club member leads the charge in solving the big problem, supported by a man whose personal story has kept him on the outskirts. After all, Rory’s life is inextricably tied to the club despite his physical limitations and decision to focus on a different profession. He also has an active stake in the issue due to previous and ongoing problems he continues to be involved with. The goal is literally about setting up the bad guy to die because that is the only way to solve that problem in their world. This book works best as the conclusion to the full series instead of a stand-alone, so readers should already be well aware of the gray areas these heroes exist in.
The events of this book don’t take much actual time, but the romance slips in and out of the story effortlessly. Nate’s life is coming full circle while Rory is, in many ways, just beginning, but their shared history eliminates a lot of the necessary first steps. This lets Lindsey use both the romance and external conflicts to support and enhance each other in a way that makes it difficult to put the book down. They pay off the loose ends for previous heroes in a satisfying manner while keeping the primary focus rooted in this book’s narrative voices.
Disclaimer: I received a digital review copy of this novel from the author.
Rory has had a rough life, all of the people in the MC has had a rough life but Rory especially so.
Nate was the older guy Rory had a crush on when he was younger, then Rory hated him, and when Nate came back into his life he still hated him but a little less so than he did before. Nate can't get into a relationship with Rory, he is way too old for him, plus, Smoky would kill him and then hide his body. But he can't resist Rory anymore, he's waited too long for this. He's tired of following everyone else's rules, for once in his life he's doing what he wants.
Hydra was the villain that hurt and killed people close to all of the MC crew, they all wanted him to pay. When Rory comes up with an idea to finally draw Hydra out once and for all no one is happy, especially not his brother. But no one can argue that's their only option.
EM has a way with words, I haven't read a book by them that I haven't liked. They just know how to write. Excellent background, exceptional characters that are always 'damaged' in some way but whom overcome that. Who don't let their differences define them, it was amazing reading a book about a main character who was blind. He's in a MC and going to college all while still trying to overcome being blind and people babying him for it. The plot was excellent, I really enjoy that things aren't all unicorn and rainbows in this book series, things are rough, and dark, and gritty but these things are done so well.
I highly recommend reading the previous books in this series to get maximum enjoyment out of this book, I really enjoyed this so much! I recommend this to anyone who wants a darker mm romance, one that's about falling for an older guy, found family, adjusting to changes you can't control, and stumbling your way through life.
*I received an early copy of this book and this is my honest review.*
Oh my lord🙌 Okay listen, LISTEN, this book was amazing 🙌🙌🙌
The impending romance between Rory and Nate was subtly teased all through the series, and although I was very eager for it, I was totally blown away by the intensity of their relationship. 🖤 I don't know how after five books E.M.LINDSEY is not freaking running out of steam, but god damn these two were insanely hot.🖤 Soooo...Okay deep breaths, Stefka. Calm TF down.😁 Rory takes his fate and the future of the club and it's members in his own hands by conjuring up a plan so reckless and crazy it lands him in hot water with his brother. Aaron is still struggling accepting the fact that Rory is an independent adult and is living just fine on his own, despite the limitations his disability poses.🖤 Aaron and Elijah are still amazing together, and their heavy presence as the family unit Rory recognises as parental is just freaking heartwarming. Honestly his scenes with Elijah always made me a bit teary, as I adore how this found family is shaping up and bringing much needed healing to the men of THE BROKEN CHAINS MC.🖤 Nate has given up on trying to fit in any box in particular. This man has lived so many lives, he's done trying to become the lable people assign to him. His feelings for Rory are pure and his hopes for a future they could build together made me swoon. Nate knows exactly how to give Rory what he needs - he knows when to be firm and demanding, and when to be giving and sweet. There is no doubt they are perfect for each other and completely ruined for anyone else.🖤 The goofs at the end about MM books had me giggling on the couch.🖤 It was perfect, I absolutely loved it.🖤
Series: Broken Chains MC #5 Rating: 3 stars - I liked it
Rory and Nate’s story is one that I was eager to read because they clearly have been into each other for a while now. While I did enjoy this, it was a bit of an anticlimactic ending for this series.
Nate was a sweet guy who has basically tried to turn his life around. He was the Reapers enforcer, then went on to become the Sheriff, and is now a Nomad. He was definitely a gray character who has done terrible things, but also a lot of good. I liked Nate and how he wasn’t afraid to say what needed to be said, especially to Smokey.
Rory is Smokey’s younger brother who is blind. While I liked Rory overall, I did find him a bit annoying at times in this. He is impulsive and a bit of an asshole at times. He has definitely experienced some shit but at times he acted very naive. Rory and Nate’s relationship was quick, intense, and steamy. They were sweet together and I loved seeing all the comfort between them. So while I did have issues with Rory, I still enjoyed his and Nate’s story.
The battle against Hydra was anticlimactic. Rory’s plan was a good one and it worked well. Unfortunately, it felt very rushed at the end and we don’t get to really see what the Broken Chains do to Hydra or the people helping him. After three books of hunting Hydra, I was really expecting a bit more but I still enjoyed it overall.
Trigger Warnings: kidnapping; abusive and neglectful parents; PTSD; parent who died from drugs; ableism; sexual assault referenced and threatened;
I've been waiting for Rory's story to wrap up the Broken Chains series, and while his and Nate's romance was as intense as I was hoping for, the grande finale to Hydra's storyline left me feeling underwhelmed. Nate and Rory had so much history with that scumbag, and after spending the entire book plotting ways to take him out I was expecting a big, messy showdown. Instead, the grand plan rushed by in a few short scenes, and I'd barely gotten time to come to terms with the fact that it was working when Hydra was taken out, off page and without Nate or Rory getting the bloody closure I thought they wanted. Don't get me wrong--I'm glad E. M. Lindsey spared these men any more pain from their enemies, but I was really caught off guard by how uneventful the ending seemed. The one thing I can't complain about is the romance--Nate and Rory clashed together right away, with plenty of heated encounters that showed off their natural chemistry. I would have liked to dive deeper into some of the complicated feelings they had about loving each other, but with a much bigger threat on the horizon I understood why they didn't have the time. Despite the rushed ending, I am happy that all the members of the Broken Chains can finally have some peace at last. The quiet life Nate and Rory were building together in the epilogue felt so perfect for the two of them, and I have no doubt that they're in it for the long haul.
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
When you get offered a copy of EM Lindsey’s latest release you don’t say no. Even if it means you need to read 4 other books in a week to get caught up, despite already being swamped with books to read. And I don’t regret it for a minute. Each book in this series was better than the last. We won’t discuss the sadness that is the fact that this is the final book in the series though.
Rory and Nate aren’t members of the Broken Chains, but their lives are intricately woven into it. We’ve met them a lot along the way, but finding out about their shared history was fascinating, and filled some gaps we’ve been missing. Rory is smart, sarcastic, fiercely independent, and hella brave. He may be blind, but that’s never held him back and he always gets what he wants. And right now he wants two things. Hydra in the ground, and Nate in his life.
They’ve got more than a few years between them and a long history. Nate is stoic, complicated, and not sure he deserves love. Especially from Rory. It’s getting hard to deny his feelings for this amazing man, but before that can happen they had to end this business with Hydra, and Rory’s plan to deal with it is risky.
These two make a fantastic couple and complement each other really well. Love them a lot, and they made a terrific final story.
Rory is a blind man whose brother saved them from a life of misery in a poorly run MC. Having been violently attacked as a young person, he was comforted by his brother's friend Nate. Everytime something bad happens to Rory, Nate is always there to pick up the pieces. It is only natural for the two men to gravitate to each other.
I received this book as an ARC, but I had two of the four other books of the series in my kindle that I had not read yet, so I grabbed the other two on Kindle Unlimited and read all four books before reading this 5th one. I am so glad I did. I am not into MC stories normally, especially when there is guns or violence evident in the story. But the way these bikers of this particular club operate, it's like the best part of a broken society, regardless of the many ways that each individual member or peripheral member was broken. This series took all the misfits and the throwaways from other motorcycle clubs, jumbled them up together, and what ensues is a great group of people (mostly gay men), who want the best for their chosen family and for their communities.
I love this book, and I have loved every book I have ever read from this author, which at my last count was 32, not including the 5 from this series. Yes, I keep a list.
I just need to start this saying how much I love Rory, and what an amazing character he is. He’s strong, and sarcastic, and although he’s been through so much physically and emotionally, he remains very much in control of his life. Rory has always been part of motorcycle club life. Through his dad, then his brother, he remained on the outskirts while working towards his dream of being a professor. And one particular member, Ghost, had always caught his eye. But what started as hero worship and a crush on an older man has turned into so much more now that he’s an adult. Nate was Ghost, but after leaving club life and returning after a stint as sheriff, he just wants to be Nate. He knows his feelings are strong for Rory, but he also knows his brother would kill him for touching his younger, blind brother. But Rory doesn’t care what his brother thinks, and Nate is having a hard time resisting. When Rory comes up with a crazy scheme to get to their rival Hydra and end a years long battle, Nate doesn’t want him to take this risk but can’t see another way out. But he has to decide if he’s willing to risk the man he loves to end this war.
Rory & Nate: Raw, that’s the word I would use to describe these two. Each in their own way have been to hell and back. Now that Nate is back and on a mission to end Hydra, the club can’t afford not to use him although distrust is still there because of his past and his secret dealings with Smokey. Rory wants it to be over, constantly aware of his surroundings and having to be vigilant is not how he wants to live his life, he has dreams and although he knows he can never totally walk away from this life, he wants to finish his doctorate and teach and ultimately be with Nate. Setting himself up shows the internal strength he has in spite of being blind. Making Smokey realize he needs to trust him and not treat him with kid gloves any longer is what needs to happen if they are going to move forward with their lives. Nate has always seen Rory for the strong, sarcastic, smart and loving man he is and now he’s fallen in love with him. He supports Rory’s decision and knows it’s the only way. These two are full of raw emotions and it spills into their love for one another and the task at hand. This is a great series and the latest installment is no different.
The final book in this series is about Rory, Aaron's blind little brother and Nate, once known as Ghost and enforcer of the Reapers. Rory has had a crush on Nate for as long as he's alive and after the fallout with the Reapers Nate became a sheriff and Nomad. And although he's much older than Rory deep down he loves the boy but feels he is too old and Rory can never feel the same. But when he meets Rory, who turned into this beautiful man, and tries to seduce him he cannot longer deny himself. But before they can enjoy eachother and life there's one thing that needs to be done. And that's eliminating Hydra, the man who wants to kill them all. Just like the boys from the tattoo shop, these boys from the MC find a place in your heart where they stay. Elaine has a gift to get you hooked from the start and make you believe your watching everything enfolding from the side line. Amazing series and sad it's done.
In this book we see Rory and Nate round off the series with their awaited story. It’s not an easy one as there’s so much fighting and unrest going on with Hydra. Nate has know and been attracted to his friend’s younger brother Rory for many years but doesn’t think anything will come of it because of their age difference and constant chaos in their lives.
When hydra kidnaps blind Rory it is Nate who rescues him and keeps him safe while the others try to put an end to this mc rivalry. Rory let’s Nate know he’s attracted to him and wants to have a relationship with him but Nate fears for Rory.
There is a lot going on in the book between the clubs and it gets crazy at times but Rory is tough and with Nate by his side he’s even stronger. It was nice seeing the characters from previous books and for them all to get the closure they needed.
I loved this story so much!!! Rory is such a wonderful character who deals with his blindness and health issues so well and has survived abuse and trauma to become a strong young man. Nate has survived his own trauma and is back with the Chains but not trusted by everyone. Hydra is biding his time for now but Smokey has not taken action because in someways he is dealing with the trauma of almost losing Rory who is his weakness. Rory is going stir crazy and comes up with a plan that involves his getting kidnapped yet again and everybody objects and his brother is furious but even he comes to realize that they have to flush Hydra out an he won't suspect a trap since he is a sociopathic asshole. The plan works though it is scary while it is happening and now Rory and Nate can be together. Rory is one of the best characters ever.
I've been waiting for Rory's story since book one. Rory's had s crush on Nate since he was a teenager. Rory is blind and small in stature. He's now in the process of writing his thesis and getting tired of Hydra's malicious attacks. After this last attack, Nate rescues him and let's Rory know how he feels about him. Hydra is has been after the destruction of the Broken Chains MC, it seems like forever. And Rory's is getting impatient for his brother, Aaron to end it. And so it seems the majority of the members are also. Rory comes up with a plan he knows his brother won't like. Can he get Aaron to agree to it? Will the rest of the club be on board and will Nate be there to catch him if he falls? This is the final book in this series and I'm sad to say goodbye.
It's taken a while to get here, but here is where we are: sad that it's over, thrilled with the ending, and happy for the characters who took this journey with us. Well-written as always, definitely NOT a standalone, so it is vitally important to read the whole series in order. While Nate and Rory aren't members of the Broken Chains, their lives are intricately tied in, and they are definitely a huge part of the overall story line. Finally getting the HEA they deserve, and seeing the others living their lives, makes the end of the series worth the read. EM Lindsey is amazing at writing about broken men, found families, and all the love that ties them together. They are an absolute one-click author for me.
I have really loved this series because it’s a whole lot of my favorite things all tied together. M/M (of course), MC, different romance tropes, found family, people living with their “disabilities” in their best lives. And this book definitely fits. It’s nice to finally dust our hands of the psychopath that’s been doing his best to ruin them, and hurting too many of them along the way. Sadly, it’s “offscreen” but I have a healthy imagination. I have one piece of advise though, before you read this book. If it’s been awhile since you’ve read the others, re-read them. There is a lot of past stuff alluded to in this book that was more thoroughly explained in previous ones. I think having that fresh in your mind will make more of an impact.
After what felt like a lifetime Rory finally got his man, Nate. Rory was the reason he left the first club and was one of the reasons he came back. Rory had been in love with Nate since he was a boy, but when Nate left him and his brother things changed until he was back in his life again. Hydra the man who started their journey was back with a vengeance and it took the whole MC to bring him to justice and along this journey Nate and Rory finally got what they wanted each other. This was a fitting end to this series, but it got a little confusing in this book about some of the characters. It was my understanding that Jax and Trex left the old club that Jax's father was president of. But,as a whole I enjoyed every book!!😍😍😍
Such a fitting conclusion to an MC series that I've thoroughly enjoyed.
Rory is tough as nails and makes no excuses for himself or anyone else. Nate is adrift between worlds, but he's always felt a connection with Rory, even before it evolved into physical.
There's very little angst in their relationship, and when there is, it's discussed pragmatically without letting it fester, which I loved.
And it was super satisfying to have a conclusion to the awfulness Hydra keeps perpetuating on the Chains.
Dual POV third person, dirty talk, medium to high heat, disability rep.
I received a copy of this book from the author and have chosen to leave an honest review.
The much awaited conclusion of this series and we finally get Rory’s book. Rory doesn’t let his blindness stop him in pursuing getting his doctorate and wanting to fulfil his dreams. With the enemies threats still hanging over the MCs heads, nomad member Nate’s assistant is required for this final fight. Nate has always held a special place in Rory’s life and with Nate’s help it’s time to show his brother that the plan they have is one that will one work in taking down the enemy in order for them to all get some peace at last.
A fast paced read, with some action, passion and a lovely ending that suited these characters well. An enjoyable series overall.
Phew! Rory finally gets his much deserved happy ending with Nate, and it was definitely a great way to wrap up this series. I love how strong Rory is. He has been through so much but has come through smart, strong, and driven to reach his dream of getting his PhD. The plot is very engrossing, lots of good tension in the plan to take down Hydra - who is a very despicable villain. I also loved their sweetness and banter, it was a great way to balance to the darker elements of the story. Great series, and the epilogue was a lovely way to end Rory and Nate’s story.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
