When Lucy and Rafe are given a crystal ball as a wedding present, she’s shocked when it foretells doom. For the newlyweds, this was supposed to be a time of joy and celebration. But when a terrible accident befalls one of their wedding guests, Lucy and Rafe must postpone their honeymoon. And as the evidence begins to unravel, it becomes clear this was no accident.
Lucy and her undead knitters must navigate punting on the Cherwell River in Oxford, complicated and contentious relationships among their guests, and clues that don’t make sense. It may have looked like a random tragedy, but as every knitter knows, when you place the separate strands in a certain light, there’s always a distinctive pattern.
This is book 14 in the Vampire Knitting Club series. There's no blood, gore, swearing or sex, just quirky characters, a compelling mystery and a lot of fun.

The characters of this paranormal cozy are absolutely outstanding. I totally feel like they are old friends at this point in the series rather than just characters in a book. This installment in the series brings us to the big wedding day and all does not go as planned. The hunt is on for who the guilty party is and to retrieve a priceless item. The narration of this series has made it a must listen series for me. I absolutely feel like the characters come to life with the narration of these books. The author creates a wonderful world of relatable characters even though they are paranormal creatures and vivid stories that the narrator does an outstanding job of bringing fully to life. I can't wait to hear what comes next for these characters and it seems there may be a spin-off series coming with a new yarn shop! I am squealing with joy at that prospect!
A less than stellar cozy mystery. It seemed more like a way to introduce a new character and future series than to continue with the current one. The relationship between Rafe and Lucy is puzzling. The mystery happened at their wedding, but there is so little chemistry between the two characters that it is surprising that they got married. Lucy shows more passion for the food that Rafe's caretaker makes than for Rafe himself.
I've enjoyed all of the others in the series, but this one just seemed off.
I’m impressed, Lucy actually seems to have friends (or at least one friend (Jennifer)) from her life before the vampires - and I actually quite like her. Which almost makes me a bit mad (I’m joking) because apparently there’s a spin-off series about her? And now I feel like I want to listen to that as well, simply because I like Jennifer.
Also to wrap up this series (excluding prequels and other short stories); I need to talk about what an amazing job the narrator Sarah Zimmerman does. I am convinced I’d like the characters only half as much without Zimmerman’s incredible performance. It fits so well with the cozy mystery genre and is simply a joy to listen to. I’ll need to keep an eye out for other audiobooks she narrates, honestly.
My Rating ~ 4 bites and a nibble Bea's Rating ~ 4 stars
Plot AVR: This mystery was a bit hard to solve. Things just didn't seem to fit just right and fall into place easily so I was kept guessing bewtween suspects. This one? No, this one. Ah, maybe not? I like that Lucy and Rafe can’t get away from murder even on their wedding day. Sorrynotsorry. lol Bea: Woooo! We finally got Rafe and Lucy's wedding! And of course, things went wrong, lol. The theft and the murder were intriguing, with several suspects and no clear front-runner. I had my suspicions and several times wondered if it was the character that eventually was revealed as the villain. But I failed to actually figure it out.
Characters AVR:I'm enjoying the character growth though I would have liked to see more of Violet in this addition. Her life seems to be in the most flux and it would be nice to see her heading in a more positive direction. Lucy is finally moving forward and that’s a good thing. Bea: I missed Violet also and would like to see what Warren does with her. While Violet wasn;t there, many others were and it was good to see them. Lucy has grown so much over the books and I've enjoyed the journey. The vampires don't change as much but seeing their personalities and quirks is interesting. And we got to meet Lucy's best friend Jennifer, who I also enjoyed.
World building AVR: Lucy is doing more with her magic and it's about damn time. Jeez, you'd think it was something horrible the way she behaves towards it. The world is expanding with the addition of a store in Cornwall and Lucy's best friend Jennifer also being a witch. Everything is flowing along quite nicely now. I like it. Bea: It was good to see Lucy do more with her magic, and the growth there is impressive. Too bad she's still a poor knitter. I appreciate the humor and juxtaposition of her owning a yarn and knitting store while being such an inadequate knitter.
Romance AVR: The romance balances the mystery just right. And they're finally married and settling in, but the romance is alive and sweet. Bea: Still sweet, and swoony. They are married finally but instead of being on their honeymoon, they are hunting for a thief and a murderer, who may or may not be the same individual. Both Rafe and Lucy keep their spirits, and romance, up. They do the sweetest things for each other.
AVR's fave quote: Rafe: "I thought this day would never come." re: their wedding Awww! Us, too, Rafe. Us, too. Rafe: "And to Lucy, I want you all to know, and to say this in public, that I didn't know you were the woman I was searching for until I found you." swoons
Bea's fave quote: Lucy and Rafe: "Show-off." I muttered it under my breath, but of course vampires have extremely good hearing. He said, "Well, you can show off the next time you tuck into a plate of roast beef and Yorkshire pudding and I can only watch you."
Rafe and Lucy: "I've got a collection of jewels I've picked up over the years, but I bought this one new for you. I saw it and knew it would look right." I ran up and threw my arms around him. "You are the best husband ever," I said. He looked down at me with a wry smile. "Let's see if you still feel that way when we've been married an entire week.
Having finished the series, I am just going to review it all as one instead of individually. In October I need "easy" books (way too much overtime to try to concentrate on harder books). These fit the bill perfectly. While I enjoy cozy mysteries, some are better than others and I honestly expected this series to be rather hokey. But I was surprised at how much I actually enjoyed it. I tore thru most of the series in October and finished up the last couple of books early November. It started off slow for me at first because my least favorite thing about cozies is the amateur sleuth always thinking they know more than the police. And this started off that way but Lucy slowly comes into her own. We have the love triangle of Lucy with Ian and Rafe. (Definitely team Rafe here). But it's the vampires who I loved... Rafe, Sylvia, Theodore and Gram. Are there problems with the storylines... absolutely. But as far as cozies go this was a great series.
I tolerated the author’s discrepancy in Lucy’s age reverting from 27 (reiterated on constantly in books one and two); then suddenly in a later book Rafe attends a party for her 26th birthday????—however, I can’t believe how the author totally fucking dropped the thread on the elixir of youth. Nancy Warren never revealed the outcome and I’m pissed. Also, Rafe had invited Lucy on a trip to… was it Dublin? IDK, but what was the point? since that thread was dropped, as well.
It seems there is a spin off series to try and since this series began well maybe that one will too.
Cons:
This was by far the weakest installment in the series. It felt tossed together and as if the author and editors completely ignored the last book. My examples for this? They make a big deal about Lucy doing a spell to unlock a door and how long it has been however she and Jen both unlocked one door to get out of the trap in the previous book which took place early days before. Tina is Lucy’s cousin yet she says Jen left with Lucy’s grandma…but humans and everyone in the family believe Agnes is dead. This is a disappointing end to a series that began with such promise.
I'll admit, I was a bit hesitant with a book based around a wedding. I'm not into romance books and wasn't sure how the author would handle this event... I was pleasantly surprised! As with the previous books in the series, any romance is handled lightly and not a massive focus of the story, just how I like it! This was another fun read and made me an even bigger fan of this author. She sets a high bar for cozy mysteries for me. So far, others haven't caught my interest nearly as well.
2022 bk 316. A very enjoyable book - and at last the wedding of Lucy and Rafe. It was fun seeing her non 'In the know' relatives interact with the vampires and witches of Lucy's British made-up family. The plotting in this book was stronger than the last and even the 'bad guys' were more fully fleshed out. Oh - yeah - there was murder, but also an art theft. A keeper and one to re-read.
This continues to be one of my favorite series. It’s so far out of my normal reading scope, but I so enjoy it! Thank you to my friend Dagmar who insisted I give the series a try. And now an extension to Cornwall? Will we be seeing more of Lochlan?
Beautiful wedding, forever love, theft and murder!!! What a wonderful book and series, love the romance and intrigue, can't wait for the next book of awesome.
Lucy and Rafe have a beautiful wedding with a few hitches. While it will be fun to have a new series, I hope there will be more with Lucy and the Oxford gang of vampires and witches.
3.5-3.7 this was not bad it’s a continuation of Rafe and Lucy’s. The book starts with their wedding, a theft and a murder. Now instead of going on a honeymoon they are investigating the murder and trying to retrieve Rafe’s stolen art. I think this book was more about introducing Jennifer, the MC for the spin-off series. The other vampires were there on the periphery, but most of the book centered around, Lucy, Jen, Rafe, and Lachlan doing the investigation. It was a quick read, it was in line with the other books.
This little book was an absolute delight. I was so happy when I heard it was coming out and once I started to read it I didn't want it to end. As usual the characters were great and the worldbuilding was fascinating. The mystery itself was intriguing and had me chasing after a few red herrings.
....and if I'm perfectly honest I was just over the moon to see more of Lucy and Rafe :-)
The Vampire Knitting Club introduced me to cozy mystery as a genre so it should be expected that this series is very dear to me. in fact, this series feels like a dear friends and with each book I feel closer and closer to Lucy. I never thought I would see more books in this series. I thought: Rafe and Lucy are getting married, this is were it might end, with her getting the man (or rather the man getting her). Although I I am not very sure about their relationship as it felt like something growing between the books rather than between the pages, I am hoping more books in the series will dive deeper into their love story and clarify some issues I have about these two. Mosaics and Magic is book 14 in the series, but holds the same atmosphere as all the other books before. Sadly, it lacked a bit of coziness the knitting shop held as it was more of a passing by element than an actual place. In the other books, the knitting shop felt like a part of Lucy, almost like another character in the story. it felt safe, like a place Lucy could hide in and unravel mysteries. Now, it was just a passing place to keep the plot moving. There are a few questions that I have regarding the mystery and the crime that did not get answers and I know I will never get them, which disappointed me and is the reason I dropped a star from my review: How did Con know the portrait was incredibly valuable? How come Tina kept saying Jen was the one who left with Connor when she was told time and time again no? How come the painting was not found by the thieves even if they had searched the car? Even with some of its plot issues, I still enjoyed this book and I will keep on reading more books in this series if more come out.

Boy have we being looking forward for this awesome book, the story of Lucy and Rafe’s wedding you guys 🥳🥳🥳
I am pretty certain this is going to be many readers new favorite! I know for me it is because it’s just to good! I love how the writer Nancy Warren was able to create such a great mystery in the midst of the festivities, without putting a darkness or shadow on the newly weds. What an adventure has it been, and what a plot! I have devoured this book, and what started for me as a really rainy weekend, has changed in a truly cosy enjoyable one! And best of all, this isn’t the end!!! More books will come so we can all breathe again 😅 and be grateful for this awesome news!
I am not going to go into details, because if you are like me, I like to be surprised and find out myself… But! Just so you know…. There’s going to be some developments you are totally going to like, and as usual, as many of us Warren readers often have, you’re going to want to read the next one with much impatience 😂
On that note, if I could give this review 5 stars and a golden one extra, I totally would! If you don’t know yet about this series, you’ve being missing out hard! No worries, just start now and you’ll thank me later, I know I am still grateful that Amy Boyles introduced to me to this epic series of the Vampire Book Club 💗
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my honest opinion, there is no gain in it for me. I am a fervent reader, who loves to read and will always support good writers in their work by leaving a review.
Mosaics and Magic is the fourteenth book in the Vampire Knitting Club series by Nancy Warren. It can be read as a standalone cozy mystery, but I recommend binge reading the whole series because it is so amazing!
This book had everything I could ask for in a cozy mystery: a fascinating murder mystery, witches, vampires, family reunions, a magical wedding prep, and lots of heart. This is a fast paced book that kept me on the edge of my seat. As much as I wanted to know who the killer was, I didn't want it to end!
Reading this book is like coming home to an old friend. From page one, I knew that I would not stop reading until I reached the end of the book. So, I curled up with a giant cup of hot coffee and read about Lucy's wedding, crime solving and her honeymoon!
Also, the author revealed today that there will be a spin-off form this series releasing at the end of November! More Vampire Knitting Club adventures to come!!!
If you enjoy cozy mysteries or anything paranormal, I totally recommend this book! The characters are great and the story is so interesting! This is one of those books you won't be able to put down!
I'm so grateful to Nancy Warren for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
Hooray, Lucy, and Rafe are back! Mosaics and Magic: A Paranormal Cozy Mystery (Vampire Knitting Club Book 14) by Nancy Warren. Now newlyweds they receive a most unusual and ominous wedding gift. The ill-omened crystal ball is not giving off joyous congratulations. A wedding guest has a terrible accident but was it just accidental or did the crystal ball predict it happening and why?
Lucy, Rafe, and the Undead Knitting Club must work together to solve this murder. Great to see all involved to find the solution so the newly wedded couple that take that planned honeymoon. Such fun trying to piece together the clues, solving the case along with the characters.
While this is fourteen in the series some may wonder if they should start with this story. However, it does stand okay on its own. After you have finished you will find that you can’t wait to read the earlier books to see the romance between Lucy and Rafe slowly blossom. A great cozy paranormal mystery series with Mosaics and Magic being an outstanding additional.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Lucy and Rafe are FINALLY getting married! What could possibly go wrong? Well, if you are a fan of this series, you just know that something has to happen to throw a wrench into the happy day! Waiters being pushed out of windows, people taking photos when they were told not to do so, and people wondering in places they really have no business being are just a few of the things that try to interfere with the festivities.
This is a delightful addition to this wonderful series and I think it will be a lot of readers' favorite. In order to solve the crimes that ensue, Rafe and Lucy have to postpone their honeymoon. With the help of the Vampire Knitting Club and Lucy's witchy best friend, Jennifer, things move quickly to find the culprit(s) of a few crimes occurring in the area.
If you enjoy a cozy mystery filled with great characters, a few vampires, a few witches and some other unexpected magical creatures, you will enjoy this book and this series. This one can be read as a standalone, but for full appreciation of the tale, I would suggest starting at the beginning.
The adventures of Lucy and her vampires continue. Book 14 by Nancy Warren continues where #13 left off of Lucy getting married. We all wanted more details and Ms. Warren delivered. I can picture the perfection of the wedding…that and a waiter falling out a window and yep, you guessed it…a wedding guest that did not survive.
Lucy and Rafe postpone their honeymoon to solve a mystery of a murder and some stolen art. Their adventures to solve the mysteries continues. Add in a gift of a crystal ball given to Lucy by the head of her coven foretells misfortune several times adds to the discovery of things.
Can they solve the murder and recover the stolen art and live happily ever after? You’ll have to read and find out. There isn’t any swearing, sex scene, or blood/gore – just good old fashioned crime solving .. and some delicious food served by William and knitting projects by the vampires.
Witch Lucy and her vampire love Rafe have finally celebrated their marriage, but as usual a murder intervenes . Instead of a blissful honeymoon in Cornwall, they must recruit the Vampire Knitting Club to help them solve the murder of a nasty piece of work who may have stolen Rafe's priceless portrait of Queen Elizabeth I during the wedding ceremony. The group figures that the murdered man's death holds the key to finding the artwork, and assisted by Lucy's best friend Jennifer, and Lachlan, the immortal best man, a river god, a crystal ball and Lucy's familiar Nyx, the chase is on.
This is the 14th Knitting Club adventure and it contains all the elements of Nancy Warren's paranormal tales. The supernatural characters are charming, the guilty are punished and a happy ending is assured. And Jennifer is going to have her own spin-off series in Cornwall. I can hardly wait to read about her adventures.
"That’s the great thing about love. It surprises you when you least expect it.”
And here we are, all these books later,as this one opens with Lucy and Rafe's wedding is close at hand. Everyone is there, even Agnes,Lucy's Gran is there hidden of course. Of course there's always one, this one is Lucy's cousin Tina, who was told but ignored the no pictures rule and sets into motion no one expects. Tina's "plus one" literally breaks into the manor and then everything seems to go wack-a-doo as this series often does as the layers of the conundrum start coming undone
With the newlyweds ever get to the honeymoon? Will the Cornwell shoppe help her grandmother and Sylvia settle? Will Jennifer stay in Great Britain? For this and other surprises enjoy this book which feels like it might be the end of this long running series [please tell me I'm wrong!]. Highly Recommended 5/5
[Disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily read and reviewed it]
I was happy to actually read about Lucy and Rafe's wedding. I don't know why her mom insisted on her inviting a distant cousin that Lucy has never gotten among with. Honestly, why would anyone invite someone that don't even like to their wedding. I'll be happy when her parents go back to Egypt. They've both worn out their welcome with me.
So Tina, Lucy's cousin, what a sad sack. Truly, I almost felt sorry for her. She was such a doormat for Connor. He was such a sleaze and I'm not surprised that he was the one that died. I was a bit surprised by who killed him though.
Anyway, I really hope there are more books to come in this series however if there aren't this was a pretty good ending to it, to if it is indeed the end of our adventures/murder solving with Lucy. I'm looking forward to Jennifer's time in Cornwall with Agnes and Sylvia. That should be fun as well.

I’ve been looking forward to this release, but sadly it’s the weakest book of the series. The story is thin, the characters are under-baked, and both the mystery and the wedding are underwhelming. Rafe and Lucy never had a huge amount of chemistry, and what little they had seems to have evaporated.
I’ve had fun reading the Vampire Knitting Club, but if this instalment is anything to go by, it seems Warren is running out of steam. After 14 books that’s understandable! Here’s hoping fresh characters reinvigorate her writing.
While most of the books in this series are somewhat predictable cozy mysteries this book is just predictable. The characters have lost their charm and the plot is just prolonged word-salad. If i didn’t know any better, I’d think this was written by an AI after having been fed the Knitting club-series.
