In English They say it like "PAIRISS"
But the rest of the world says "PAREE" like the french do
So how come everyone calls Venezia by its english name "Venice"
There's The Merchant of Venice and Death in Venice
Why can't they call it Death in Venezia
IS THIS YOUR IDEA OF A FUCKING JOKE!?

-yeah Kid I was wondering about that since Highschool. I feel you bru

When discussing Grateful Dead, I mentioned how individual fights don't grow stale because of how varied they end up becoming. And White Album is the perfect example for how a stand battle can unfold. It starts with the mystery of why the car is freezing. Then it turns into them trying to fight inside the car, with White Album's main offense being its cold aura. Next, it's about Giorno and Mista trying to escape, before White Album catches them once again. They crash into the water to try and escape. Here, the main threat is White Album's touch. At this point, the battle becomes all about Mista trying to find a weak spot in White Album's armor. By the time they get on land, it has evolved into a long ranged duel.

Did you see what happened there? We went from a mystery, to a car chase, to close combat, to a ranged battle. All in one fight. The goals of the combatants evolve as the ways in which they engage change. New rules are added or clarified. And the whole process smoothly transitions from one thing to the next. Just how smoothly and beautifully this things works is quite the accomplishment. The end result becomes this utter gauntlet as goals are set up, only to be denied at the last minute. It's brutal.

The volume concludes with 2 great chapters building up to the encounter with the boss. I know this guy's identity, but I could feel my heart rate increase as the gang discussed who should go. I slowly began to realize that these dudes are actually thinking of going in for the kill so soon. I'm so excited to see what comes next.

2 complaints though. First, is that the frozen air thing didn't make a lot of sense to me. Either the air is frozen or it isn't. Why just spots? And either its so cold stuff can't move, or it isn't. The rules feel inconsistent. Also, are we meant to believe that Mista's bullets just so happen to bounce off of the frozen floating air and ALL of them coincidentally hit him? Or are we supposed to think White Album is deliberately adjusting the temperature in the air to make crystals appear at just the right spots to deflect the bullets back at Mista. Because my suspension of disbelief isn't carrying me far enough to buy into either of those possibilities. This may sound like a nitpick, but trying to figure this out really distracted from the otherwise expert writing and pacing.

The other thing is that I wish we got to hear from Trish more. She's in a really interesting place with regards to her relationship with her father and the gang. There's a lot to explore here that hasn't been capitalized upon. For that matter, I wish we got to explore more of the emotions and relationships of the entire main cast. These folks are super charming and I want to get to know them better. We don't have to go full Golden Age Berserk or anything like that, but I wish there was more interpersonal content to chew on. This applies to the series as a whole.

5 STARS FOR THE GOLDEN SUCC ALONE

Memes in this volume:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhCz-... A LEGENDARY SCENE TRULY AMAZING I LOVE IT SO MUCH
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kDku... comparison of the different incarnations of this scene
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oYwL-... and an appropriate song (especially since this was at the end of the episode and went right to the ending sequence ;) )

And since we got Bruno's backstory here, I figured this was appropriate as well.

But Giorno giving Mista the Golden Experience is truly the highlight of this volume (and Part 5 in general)

mista? again? GIORNO?? god this is my favorite fight of the part yet and one of my favorite fights in the whole series. it is so action packed and high stakes with two characters that work well with each other - they are funny yet can lock in at the right moment. and omg ghiaccio is AMAZING. he's crazy and also hilarious BUT SO FUCKING STRONG. at the rate that mista fucking GETS SHOT AND LIVES i start to worry if he DOESN'T get shot. and they shared such a great experience at the end of it... some might even call it golden.

3 estrellas.

If Giorno and Mista want to grab the hidden disk the Boss asked them to, they'll need to survive an encounter with Ghiaccio and his Stand, White Album, whose frosty touch may prove unstoppable - unless the duo are willing to show their true resolve...Araki will keep fans hooked with this exciting entry and its beautifully dramatic tones.
