FRIENDS FOREVER! is a cute early reader about enduring friendship and misunderstandings. Daniel is at school and has made a race car. He is excited to play with it, and he asks Prince Wednesday to race cars with him. However, Prince Wednesday is playing something else with Jodi. When Daniel feels sad, Teacher Harriett comes over to talk to him and remind him that even when friends play with someone else, they will still be your friend too. After, they all play race cars together. When O the Owl comes over to ask Daniel to read books with him, he is still playing with Jodi, but he reminds O that they will still be friends, and that he will play with him after he is done.

What I loved: This is a simple story, written mostly in simple, short sentences that will work well for children who are learning to read. Daniel and his friends come to life in the story with their emotions and feelings shown and described. This particular story is a straight-forward message about friendship and taking turns that will resonate with preschoolers. The illustrations are full page with plenty of color, and the text remains in white boxes for ease of reading.

While some of the sentences and the song may be a bit longer, this will work for readers who are stretching their abilities and starting to get into more complicated phrasing.

Final verdict: Overall, FRIENDS FOREVER! is a cute story about friendship and taking turns that will work well for preschoolers who are learning to read.
