Now this was a rather smutty one.:) It's about a woman (Jodi) who's working for a private security agency and dating her hunky Latino boss (Mark). Because of a series of bad boyfriends that left her heart scarred, she's decided that it's better to have a no-strings affair instead of risking heartache again, and so far that's worked for her and Mark. However, it's her birthday, and lately Mark has seemed rather pre-occupied and disinterested. Has he forgotten her birthday, or maybe he's had enough and is planning to dump her?
Jodi's about to get her answer when she's called on to test the security system of a possible new client. The new client isn't just a 'new client', he's the owner of his own security company and is planning to merge his company with Mark's company. And oh yeah, he's Mark's big (6'6", 280 lb) college buddy Sam. And Sam's part of Jodi's birthday 'surprise'. Seems that Jodi made a list of her sexual fantasies for Mark, and number six on her list of fantasies is "I'd like to have a ménage with Mark and another man we could trust." Bingo!
I won't get into all the smutty little details, except to say there's some bondage, some flogging, some video taping, some unexpected tying up of Mark while Sam and Jodi go at it, and then Mark learns his lesson about taking his feelings for Jodi for granted and he sort of has an epiphany--he really does love her! Of course Sam knew this all along, he was just trying to prove this to Mark, hoping he would get off his duff and realize it. Whatever.
There's lots of dirty talk in this one, as well as a couple of hot sex scenes, and yes, it does make for some pretty scorching reading. There were a few unintentional funny moments, especially when Sam refers to his oversized male member as "Sam junior", and I was getting just a tad annoyed when Sam kept calling Jodi "sweet pea", but for only 77 pages this was mainly a pretty steamy read and I enjoyed it. I think it mainly serves as a set-up for Sam's character, because he gets his own book in Personal Protection. I may have to check that one out. 4 stars
Warning: This book contains explicit language and sex, including oral and anal; and a pretty drawn out ménage scene that dabbles in bondage and some light flogging. Not for the faint of heart.
Private Property by Leah Braemel is the first book in the Hauberk Security series. It is also Leah’s first published work and I enjoyed it so much I knew I’d read anything future she published. The characters are interesting, the dialog engaging, and the sex scenes are hot. What truly enamored me though was the fact that this book takes place less than a half of a mile from my home and she described it perfectly.
This book centers around Mark Rodgriguez and Jodi Tyler. Mark is the owner of Celeda Security located in Texas and Jodi one of his operatives. The book opens with Jodi staking out a home she is suppose to break into to prove to the owner that his current security company isn’t any good and they should hire Mark’s company. Jodi is upset that Mark chose her to head up this security breach since it’s her birthday and she’d rather spend the evening with him. She begins to think that perhaps this is Mark’s way of breaking off their “no strings” relationship. What we soon find out is that Mark has set up an evening with his old college roommate and friend, Sam Watson, (owner of Hauberk Security) to help him fulfill some of Jodi’s fantasies as a birthday gift. The tables are turned on Mark and he soon realizes that he has been an idiot when it comes to Jodi.
This is a very good book, Mark is a likeable albeit at times kind of clueless hero. He thinks he has his relationship with Jodi all figured out but in reality he doesn’t. It takes Sam, some restraints, and some interesting situations to make him see things differently.
Jodi is capable, extremely likeable, but very insecure. She’s dated some losers in the past that have made it difficult to trust and thus she’s always waiting for Mark to dump her. She’s feeling guilty because she agreed to an unemotional affair with Mark but she’s fallen in love with him.
I like both Mark and Jodi, but Sam is the one that stole the show in this book. From the minute he came on the scene I was hooked and knew that I had to know more about this complex man. Considering all the “fun” things he has in his home, you just know there is a great story behind him.
For a first book, Private Property is very good but it left me wanting more. While the story is complete, I knew that I’d have to read the next one as soon as it was available. I always love when I find a writer that I “mesh” with right away and Leah is one of those authors. I’m very happy to give this first effort a solid 4 stars.
***NOTE*** As I was reading I felt myself wanting to know more about Mark and Jodi and was pleased when I got to the end and found there was a free read (First Night) detailing the beginning of Mark and Jodi’s relationship. It answered a lot of questions and helped me understand the characters so much more. You can find this at Leah’s website…www.leahbramel.com
I'm going to start by saying that I thought this was a very sexy, very steamy, very fun book. Okay? I liked this book. Yet there's a part of me that is vaguely squicked out by the sharing thing. And I don't get that because I read books involving menages all the time and I'm usually all "GO GET 'EM, TIGERS!" and they get 'em and everybody's happy. So what was different about this one? Was it that both Jodi and Mark were fighting their feelings for one another? Was it that even after they both had pivotal internal revelations regarding said feelings, neither of them said anything and decided to carry on with the threesome? I don't know. I just know that I kept waiting for one of them to call a stop to it and neither one did and now I'm all conflicted.
Seriously, though, this was sex-ay in a big way. Mark goes into this entire situation because it's something that Jodi wants to experience at least once. He's into it, she's little nervous but she's willing to give it a try. Suddenly, he can't stand the idea of watching another man touch her. She's still nervous, he doesn't say anything.
Do you think this might cause problems for them 10 years down the road? "Hey, honey! Remember that time we had that threesome and wanted to throttle Sam for touching you and instead of stopping things I let the threesome continue? CURSES! Why didn't I say something?" Yes, I'm certain that's the way Mark talks. CERTAIN!
The bottom line is that this book has some nicely written sex and the characters are fun. There were just parts of it that took me by surprise. In a good way, mind you. To the point that I'm imagining what the characters are going to be saying 10 years later. I was using my crotchety old man voice in my head when I said that, by the way. Yep. Mark turned into a crotchety old guy and he doesn't even know it. Oh, I'm laughing. Good times. Good times.
A fun and kinky story, that I really ejoyed. Let me tell you a little on what you get before I get into the story. M/F/M with flogger, bondage, hot sex, video taping and rear door entire. Plus some fun with breaking and entering and getting caught.
Little spoilers I liked reading Jodi. She is like most of us women that thinks a man has forgotten her birthday, but ends more suspired than she’d ever thought. She didn’t think Mark would take her fantasy list serious and start working on it nor was she expecting in being caught breaking into a mans house. Her job is to brake in to a house and get into a safe. Mark throws a little surprise in before she starts the job, he has her to put in a vibrator. Needless to say she is in full blown out vibrating when she is caught by the owner of the house. So fun to read.
Mark has shared women with Sam before, so he didn’t think nothing of it when he arranged for the both of them to share Jodi. What he didn’t expect to have a certain feeling to come up when he seen someone else touching Jodi either. I loved reading Mark and Sam both are hunks and ready to please. Sam’s book is the next one I can’t wait to read it.
(Mar) Jodi works with Mark in his security company, and they date but it is a "just for fun, let's not get too committed" type of relationship. However, Jodi has fallen in love with Mark and is afraid he is getting ready to kick her to the curb. On her bday, which she thinks Mark forgot about, she is working a surveillance case. She sneaks in the house, and just as she's about to crack the safe, she's busted by the home owner. She then discovers that the home owner is actually Mark's old college buddy Sam, and Mark has shared Jodi's Sexual Wish List w/Sam, which includes a threesome. After a bit of convincing, Jodi agrees to the ménage. Mark is kinda shocked to find himself seething with anger every time Sam touches Jodi - which allows him to realize that he too has fallen in love - but not before a whole bunch of sexual high jinx take place!
If a bit of spanking and nipple clamps, a ménage that includes anal, and a HEA is what you are looking for, wrapped up in a quick and easy story, then this is for you! Not sure I have a burning desire to continue with the series, as I just envision it being more of the same.
This was relatively short (I read it in probably a couple of hours?) but a mighty hot read. It was m/f/m, and the setup is that it's this girl's birthday, but her boss/boyfriend made her work. Or boyfriend may be too strong of a word. They are fuck buddies, with the understanding that there are no strings and either one can walk away. Since he made her work, she thinks he's about to dump her. Turns out he's set her up to fulfill one of her fantasies -- a threesome. And the third is his best friend, who she hasn't met yet. The setup is cute. What's even better is that the best friend ends up restraining the boyfriend and makes him watch best friend have sex with his girlfriend, who he then realizes he really loves and realizes he never should have even considered sharing, lol. But wow, what a lesson! What a long, thick, tasty lesson, lol.
Little bit of BDSM thrown in there. It was a cute story ultimately. Very smexy. So now I'll have to read the other two. :-)
It's Jodi's birthday, and she's stuck at work observing a potential client's house. Worse yet, it's her so-called-boyfriend who put her there. He insisted she'd handle this particular case of breaking and entering to prove to the owner that they were the better security company. All goes well until Jodi gets caught and cuffed between two men.
That's the smattering of plot, and pretty much the extent of my enjoyment of the novella. It had its moments but deflated pretty quickly. There wasn't really any foreplay–you know, the part that's supposed to turn people on–and only the setting itself was intriguing.
Had the author chosen an honest roleplay option I would have enjoyed the erotica part more, but Braemel chose to underline Jodi's insecurities and all the things that made her an unlikeable character to me. The author also chose to wrote lengthy explanations on why would a normal, usually a quite vanilla, woman acquiesce to participate in a ménage à trois with her boyfriend and a man she'd never met before. I'm assuming this was done to lure in the threesome newbie readers, and I'm assuming the pandering in the end was written for them too.
For me, it didn't work. The sex got boring after the first nipple sucking and the attempt to add plot and justification for a couple taking a one night lover pretty much ruined any and all respect I had left for the characters. Any of them. It's safe to say that without heavy-handed recommendations from my Goodreads friends, I won't be reading more of Leah Braemel's work.
Private Property started off with a bang and didn’t slow down until the last third of the novella! This story was full of lust, passion and sexual tension, it took up good two thirds of the book! There was a plot of course but you pretty much got to the point 80 percent in. There was so much sizzling hot tension going on I couldn’t help but blush – and I read my fair share of erotic romance but this, whoa boy! talk about a Hot read!
The story begins with Mark cooking up a birthday present for his girlfriend with whom he has a sort of loose relationship, he thinks nothing of sharing her with his college roommate/best friend, but when he sees Sam touching Jodi something possessive gets hold of him and before you can say gotcha, he’s jealous. This story is mainly about Mark coming to realize he loves Jodi and wants to spend the rest of his life with her – but boy all the sex and the foreplay in this novel… it’s seriously hot enough to melt your e-reader!
I like the set up for Sam’s story, Personal Protection, which I imagine will be even kinkier with his erm… sexual preference and high tech toys.
If you are looking for a believable romance this isn’t for you but if you like to indulge a little on a fantasy then pick this up, its one hot ride!
But like all erotic romance a Happily Ever After is a requirement, and this one had it, which made all the frustration and jealousy worth reading through – who am I kidding I read this in two hours flat! ;)
Just finished a heavy trilogy so I just wanted a shorter sexy read. Private Property seemed like a great fit and since I had it on my Kindle already, I'd say it was perfect timing to give it a go.
I loved the beginning where Jodi was doing her surveillance work. I also liked when she was acting all ninja like by breaking into the house. She gets caught and as it turns out, the sexy wish list she made was just about to be granted by her boss & boyfriend.
I have to say that the menage scenes were mediocre to me because I didn't really like the third that was brought in. He seemed very beefy and the way he acted so protective of Jodi was just weird. He just met her. It was odd that he was "if you ever hurt I'll hurt you" attitude. It was overly brotherly or fatherly and very odd since he only met her that night.
It was a quick read so there was not a whole lot of time for character development but I would recommend for a short sexy read. Seeing as I got it for free, it was a great deal.
Another great book from Leah Braemel! And another quite unexpected menage! I so want to have a birthday like that! He he he. At first I was like, "Sam, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" but after it went on and he was taunting Mark, I kind of clued in. Really sweet and totally hot. Very different menage story than I am used which is SO refreshing!!! And kudos once again to Leah for accurate Texas knowledge and research...pretty sure that this is the first book I've read set in Texas where the main character uses the expression "fixin' to", which as Texans know, is a VERY commonly used expression here in the Lone Star State but people outside the state don't usually know that...y'all is more usually associated. Excellent erotic scenes and great description. Sam is a great friend. I really enjoyed this book and the flow was perfect. What can I say...Mark KILLS me with the Spanish! Jodi really needs to take some Spanish conversation classes. He he. Looking forward to Sam's story next.
Warning: This book contains a woman fulfilling her sexual fantasies—including two men who are happy to tie her up, and be tied up, while using graphic language and floggers!
Not too sure how I felt about this story! I really didn't like how the tables were turned! And fellas if you like a girl just grow a pair and tell her!!
Private Property #1 by Leah Braemel * I received this book free from the author*
Jodi is not happy about spending her birthday on a stake out/break in for a future client. Her boyfriend Mark is the owner of the security agency they work for and he insists that she is the only one that can pull this job off. Little does she know that she will find more than she bargained for once she gets into the house?
Mark has been planning Jodi’s birthday surprise for the past month. He has enlisted the help of Sam to give her the experience of a lifetime and to fulfill her fantasy list. When the time comes to put the plan in action, he is shocked by his own reaction to Sam pleasuring Jodi.
Jodi never expected to have her wildest fantasies played out before her eyes with two smoking hot guys. She wants to experience everything they are offering but at the same time she doesn’t want to alienate Mark. She is excited about the opportunity before her but apprehensive at the same time.
She is in love with Mark but because of her bad history with guys she thinks Mark is getting ready to break up with her. He blew her off on her birthday and scheduled her to work, why else would he do this unless he was tired of her. Sam is glad to join in on their fun but one look at Mark with Jodi and he knows he’s a third wheel. He cares about his friend and is determined to make his friend admit what is in his heart, even if he hates him when he is done. Jodi is beautiful and responsive to his every touch and he just wants Mark to realize the treasure he has.
Mark isn’t into long term relationships until Jodi. She is smart and beautiful and he doesn’t want to share her, even if it’s to fulfill her fantasies. He’s angry at Sam because he has to sit and watch their play without participating. He is also extremely turned on watching Sam dominate her but he has an overwhelming urge to mark her as his.
This story was hot, sexy and a lot of fun. Mark was super sweet to arrange for Jodi’s fantasies to be played out, even if he wasn’t crazy about another man touching her. The dominate scene with Sam was powerful but I think the scene afterward with just the two of them was even more powerful.
The characters were kept to a minimum which worked for this story. There was also enough back story for the reader to understand what was going on, without over powering them with too much information. It was also fun learning a little about the security business.
Overall I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to pick up the 2nd and 3rd book in this series. I want to learn more about Sam. I give Private Property 4 Flaming Hearts.
This was a pretty good first read from Leah Braemel for me. She had some highs and a few lows but there were enough aspects of this story I enjoyed that I’m intrigued to try something else from her. Some of my likes: I enjoyed the connection between Jodi and Mark. I thought they had some great heat that steamed up the pages and made me want more. And it wasn’t just their sexual energy that I enjoyed; I thought that they had a great emotional connection as well. I enjoyed the aspect that both cared more for the other than they could admit. They started this relationship as a way to scratch an itch but it developed in to so much more for them both. Probably the only thing that I did not fully enjoy was some aspects of the ménage. Normally I’m pretty open to this but there were one or two portions that I did not enjoy very much. Otherwise, a really entertaining spicy read and I would look forward to trying something else by Ms. Braemel.
At only 90 pages this book starts to sizzle right out of the gate. Mark and Jodi have worked together and been seeing each other for a while. While Jodi is worried Mark might be getting tired of her and ready to drop her Mark is getting ready to surprise her. Inviting his friend and soon to be business partner Sam, to help Jodi with her list of secret pleasures. One thing Jodi wanted to try was a threesome so Mark and Sam plan to fulfill one fantasy. Things take a turn when Sam decides to change up the game. This may be a shorter read but the sexy is front and center. Loved the characters. Sam is a big guy and he knows what Mark doesn't and forces him to see it in a way that's a bit risky to his health. Love this. Jodi is a tough capable women who also has a couple insecurities but Mark is going to change that. Fast paced and sexy if you enjoy M/F/M. Be sure to read the novella First Night that introduces Mark and Jodie as well.
Mark and Jodi are dating and Jodi thinks Mark is ready to give her the brush off. Little does Jodi know that Mark has a special plan for her on her birthday, a little menage fantasy that she shared with him.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I liked Jodi, Mark and Sam. Jodi and Mark really seemed to care about each other and Sam was smart enough to realize that. He decided to turn the tables on Mark to see what his reaction would be if all the control was out of his hands. I really liked how the author portrayed the feelings Mark and Jodi were experiencing. I thought it was a more realistic approach to how a menage situation would be; dealing with jealously, anger, and potential regret.
This was somehow embarrassingly simple, yet, at the same time, it wasn't all that bad either. There were some great sexy lines, a couple in particular were really good! But the rest of the writing bored me to tears. I didn't like the book much at all, though I think it was just personal disinterest rather than shitty writing. However, I found it to be very linear, very predictable, and very boring.
By 80% I decided I got the gist and quit reading. I just didn't care. I wasn't turned on, I wasn't interested, and I wasn't amused. I wasn't impressed either. I get it was a long story, novelette type of book, and I understand it was a 'fantasy lived' sort of tale, but it was just too damn simple, too damn boring, and too damn predictable.
The writing is unexpectedly decent for erotica and the initial setup of the story was intriguing. Then the author got to the actual sex scene and it just went limp. Part of it was that every time it would get going, the characters stopped and renegotiate things, negating whatever steam was building. However, the main problem for me was that the boyfriend who instigated the threesome realized right away that he was supremely jealous and was very unhappy throughout the entire scene. I simply don't find that sort of scenario appealing, especially in what is a very short erotic story that covers one brief interlude. Speaking of short, the story stopped at 77% and I would guess that the real page count to be in the neighborhood of 40-50 pages.
I have to tell you that this book is great! It is a fun, sexy, and hot read with well developed characters and an ending the leaves you wanting to hear more. Mark has always been a no strings attached guy, and Jodi has a history of men hurting her emotionally. It takes a very special birthday surprise for Jodi with Mark's old college buddy Sam to make these two realize they don't want to loose what they have with one another. A night of scorching hot fun and fantasies ends up being so much more for both Jodi and Mark!
this was a freebie :) and a good little read :) very HOT uhhmmm "adult " bits lol & a great set up 4 what could be a solide series ....however.....;) i found it felt a little simple in spots . i dont know what other way to explain it .... ok i will try uuummm......it was just a little to easy & the writting ,altho good was lacking something . i did enjoy this & was intreagued to look into the 2nd book but not enough to buy it :(
so to sum up this is a great little freebie & do go download it 4 urself & see what u think :) but i dont think i will be doing book 2 just yet
Mark owns the security company where Jodi is employed not just as a security operative but also as her boss's no-strings attached lover. The story starts on Jodie's birthday and Mark has arranged a threesome with his friend and soon to be business partner, Sam. Jodie is not in on the birthday surprise and things do not turn out as Mark intended.
This is a fun and sexy HEA story. I really enjoyed the characters...but most especially Sam...who I understand is the focus of the next two books in the series
This was actually a pretty good little book, which was such a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting much. Jodi works for a security firm and is doing recon on a house when her boyfriend and his best friend surprise her with a plan to fulfill some of her sexual fantasies of BDSM and ménage. I actually really liked all three characters and was disappointed the story was so short. I see it's a series with the next book focusing on the third man in Book One who is a smoking, hot sexy, alpha male Dom. Will defiantly be reading.
Jodi and Mark have a friends with benefits relationship. Jodi thinks that Mark forgot her birthday because he gives her a job on her birthday. Mark sets up a menage with his best friend, Sam, so she can knock off #7 on her sex list.
When I finished the free ebook, I thought it was alright. I got my "fix". Now the falling morning, I realized that Jodi had more sex scenes with Sam than with Mark. Weird.
Ok I love this the book but hated that it was short. I felt like this story could have more to it. Not saying it wasn't wrote good. Plus I felt like Jodi and Mark relationship wasn't a booty call thing. I felt like they were were actually boyfriend as girlfriend. Overall, I like the story. But it took only me 2 hours to read the story. I guess I'm not a fan of stories. I wouldn't reading Sam story. Which I don't why he gets 2 books.
