This is my second chance to make things right between us.
Seeing Evie Wade again is exactly why I’m back in Virginia and why I’m here to stay. There’s no way I’m letting my girl get away a second time. I was a dumb kid when we were in school together and I know I need to make up for my mistake. She wants her revenge, her pound of flesh, and I’m ready to give it to her, but she’s got to let me close enough to hand her the knife first. She doesn’t know it yet, but I would do anything to make her mine.
This is my chance to show him just how wrong he was about me back then.
When Arlo Beck left after high school, I was relieved. He had wrecked me in high school, destroying my heart and my reputation. It’s taken me years to turn that reputation into something else, something strong and powerful. I’m finally at a good place in my life. Maybe that’s why seeing Arlo again is such a shock.
They called me Easy in high school because of rumors he spread. Now he’s back, and I’m going to show him just how wrong he was. I only hope I don’t lose my heart in the process.

A short second chance romance about mending old hurts and forging ahead to making a better future. Evie was devastated in high school when her so called friend Arlo called her "Easy" resulting in the entire study body bullying her and taunting her as "Easy" throughout high school.
Now years later Evie used what was meant to tear her down as a step ladder to success. Arlo is back in town to reclaim the woman he let get away due to his carelessness and insecurities. Sparks fly when Evie and Arlo reunite, and Arlo is pulling out all the stops to make Evvie see that he is no longer that heartless young boy she once knew.
Everyone was gathered for the drag races. Kiko Cordova was weaving through the crowd toward Evie Wade (“Easy”) who was their mechanic and could fix anything. He handed her his fan belt, begging for her help. They chatted amiably while she worked on the fan belt problem and almost banged her knuckles up when he told her Arlo Beck was back in town. Six years ago back in high school he had lied about her and ruined her reputation. They never did make up after that. Easy, her nickname, walked toward the center of the strip as the crowd cheered and shouted her name. She would be starting the race of the first two cars. Kiko was in one, and at the last moment, she recognized Arlo in the second car. Hurt and anger flashed through her, but she gazed at him defiantly. Then she announced to the crowd that the winner got to buy her a drink. Kiko cheered from his car, and she started the race.
Arlo was determined to grab this second chance to make things right. He had to find a way to apologize for the awful way he ended things when he left. And he wanted her back in his life. Will she forgive him? Will she want a relationship with him at last? Or is the anger too deep to let it go? Will she need a little bit of revenge before she is willing to let him in?
I received this from a BookFunnel promotions giveaway. This is the first work of the author's that I've read & it certainly won't be the last. The synopsis lets you know exactly what to expect. It's a good & short first love second chance dual pov romance.
After being taunted in high school & having her reputation ruined, Evie chose to embrace the negativity & create something powerful for herself. She is in control now & isn't going to let anyone bring her down. When Arlo, her crush & person responsible for the start of everything bad, returns, she is determined not to break again. Yet, Arlo comes with an apology & is just as determined to earn her forgiveness. He acknowledges his foolishness as a teenager & wants her to know that as well, though he doesn't push her to do so.
Because they had a history, the pacing of their relationship was fine. I liked that Evie didn't make it easy for Arlo & he accepted that. I also liked that they were both able to see their own faults & realize how they hurt the other. There wasn't much conflict so it's a very light & easy read. I would've liked the story to be longer but it was good as is & definitely made me want to read more from the author.
Arlo and Evie (Easy), the lead characters, were best friends until Evie’s body matured as a teen and Arlo insulted her and accidentally turned the majority of their high school against her. He then ran away to the big city and never returned. Until now, years later, where he finds that Evie has embraced the name he gave her and is a most sought after mechanic and street race official. He’s never forgotten her…now he needs to convince her to give him another chance.
This novella is dual POV, well written, and a small town, second chance, enemies to lovers romance. I empathised with Evie and the choices she made, having been left with few options. I appreciated Arlo’s willingness to grovel. The relationship and character development was engaging and the intimate scenes were erotic.

I loved this short story. Told in dual first person POV and a HEA, this story will have you wanting more. The narrator did a great job of bringing this story to life. Though I do think it would have been more enjoyable if a man was reading the male part.
I loved that Evie took something bad that happened to her in the past and turned it into a positive. I love that everyone in the small town has her back and would do anything to protect her. I love that when he came back to town, Arlo was determined to clear the air and mistakes he made with Evie and his friends.
I really hope that we get to see more of these two in future books. And that Brodie and Kiko get their own books.

Evie tagged along with her brother and his best friend, Arlo. As time grew on she became just as much of his friend as her brother. When she turned sixteen she started experimenting with her looks, clothes, hair and makeup. She started flirting with Arlo, this made it harder to resist her. This also stoked his jealousy when he saw her flirt with other guys. This jealousy drove him to say some hurtful things, it was one of those things that stuck, calling her Easy. Now after six years of absence, Arlo his back in town to stay.
Arlo is determined to make things right with Evie, but she needs to talk to him before that can happen. He will do anything to get her forgiveness and to make her his.

Their senior year, when Evie was not his constant shadow anymore, and had grown up, Arlo wanted to be her center of attention, instead one Friday night he shamed her in front of the school, and she was bullied from then.
Six years later, Evie did not crumple under the cruel words, instead she rose up and become more determine in her goals. Arlo has returned to town and is determined to correct the past and hope he can have the future he wants.
I love that Evie did not let others break her, that she became stronger. Arlo was young, not an excuse but that he was man enough to face her warmed my heart.

I loved this book. I loved how Easy took a horrible nickname in high school and made it her own. It took me almost to the end of the book before I could forgive Arlo for giving her that horrible nickname but if she can forgive him I guess I can too. This is how much I was into this book. It was so good I wanted to kick Arlo right where it counted and I loved how strong Easy became after being bullied in high school. Easy owned her nickname even though it was a total lie. Really well written novella, great story!! Loved it. I received a free copy from the author and am reviewing this voluntarily.
4.5 ⭐s In the past he broke her heart, can he fix it now?
When Arlo Beck left town he also left Evie's reputation in tatters. Now he's back.
Evie Wade was saddled with the name Easy because of things said by Arlo when he left. Rumors were started and she was treated horribly by schoolmates. It's taken her years to finally be at a good place in her life. She still has the nickname. However, now it refers to her expertise under the hood of a car. She doesn't plan to let him spoil things again.

A quick little story about second chances. Haven’t we all done something stupid that we regretted at some point? Arlo’s regret affected Evie and now he’s back to make amends.
I loved that Arlo took responsibility for his actions, owning up to the heartache he caused Evie in high school. Evie was one tough cookie and she really made Arlo work for it. They had excellent chemistry and I really felt their connection.
This was quite an enjoyable read and I was really happy with the HEA Arlo and Evie finally got.
Easy by Jenna McCall is a good, and enjoyable quick steamy spicy second chance enemies to lovers romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. What a fantastic read. Evie & Arlo's story had it all - enemies to lovers, brother's best friend, steam, spice all in a small town setting. Arlo destroyed Evie in highschool & seeing him when he returns to our small town stirs up many memories. Arlo's attraction to Evie has morphed from a hidden teenage crush into something huge. Does Arlo deserve a second chance?.

Audiobook: This was my first experience with Jenna McCall's work, and it was entertaining. The story was cute. Evie Wade's brother's best friend was Arlo Beck. While in high school, Arlo's false accusations caused difficulties for Evie, and then he left. Years later, Arlo moved back into town. The characters were charming. There were some steamy moments described. Molly Briar's narration was fine. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
This story has a lot of get up and go. The characters are introduced quickly and they seem very familiar very soon. Not to say they aren’t well developed because the explanations for their feelings and attitudes has a little mystery to it but nothing is kept secret for very long. There is conflict and history but there is also maturity and forgiveness. It is a sweet tale that practically reads itself.
Arlo and Evie grew up as close friends, but a hurtful mistake made in high school created pain and bad blood. After years away, Arlo returns to ask for forgiveness and make Evie his own. The chemistry between these two was electrifying. I really liked them together. A second chance romance, solid storytelling, and a satisfying happy ending. A fun short story!
This is a second chance romance. The story and characters, Evie(Easy) and Arlo are beautifully written and nicely developed. The journey and secondary characters really brought this to a new level. Great read. I recommend this to all who enjoy second chances.

I loved this short read! It’s very well written, excellently developed very likeable characters. I felt the frustration along with the pair as the story progressed and I was seriously cheering for the couple even though I realise this is a love story with a guaranteed happy ever after ending. I recommend wholeheartedly!
This was a short but cute, second chance novella. It was about growing up, righting wrongs and forging the future that was always inevitable. I liked the characters despite their mistakes and I was rooting for them. There is a bit of spice too. It was a fun little read and an enjoyable way to spend my afternoon.
Evie and Arlo have gone from Friends to Enemies to Lovers. When Arlo told a lie and ruined Evie's reputation, a new Evie was born. Arlo has now returned to town and seems set to win back Evie but the competition is heavy and Evie is no push over. The race is on.
Loved the realistic portrayal of young, misunderstood love that caused much suffering and the second chance, 6 years later, that matured into the best kind of love.
