She’s in the wrong place at the wrong time.
He uses it to his advantage.

They tell her to stay away from the Alphas.
There’s a reason they're kept in the hands of the government.
It’s better this way, they tell her. You're safe without them.
Alphas are brutal and ruthless with the promise of chaos if they’re ever set free.
Omegas are precious, fragile, and too breakable under an Alpha’s hands.
Too easily ruined.
But he can only stay chained for so long.
It's only a matter of time before he finds her.
And when he does…
He’ll burn her world down and claim her in the ashes.

Possession is an M/F non-shifter standalone DARK Omegaverse romance and the first in the Forbidden Alphas series. Each book will feature different Alpha and Omega pairings, set in a contemporary, slightly dystopian world.

I am so sad about this 3 star rating because this book had SOOOOO much potential! It’s an Omegaverse where Betas rule the world and have sent Alphas to military training camps. Everyone is taught that Alphas are dangerous monsters and will rape and kill Omegas on sight. Abel is an Alpha who has been in the military camps for 10 years when he hears about a little boy who has been brought in and is being experimented on. He decides, enough is and forms a plan to break out.

Hazel is an Omega who works as a teacher. One of her students presents as an Alpha at the age of 7 and is taken away to the military camps. This causes Hazel a lot of distress, since she was really close with the boy and had previously been told that Alphas only present as such when they become adults. She tries to find the little boy and ends up visiting the Alpha camp. She’s outside the camp when Abel breaks out. He decides to basically kidnap her and use her car and house to help him with his escape.

The story had SOOOOO much potential! Abel was all growly and hot. The sex scenes were 🔥 🥵. What ruined it was Hazel! I’ve read a lot of books and some of my favourite ones feature a bratty h. But there’s a difference between being bratty and a raging BITCH! Hazel was the latter. She was insufferable. I had to start skimming at around the 70% mark because I just couldn’t stand her! Abel was nothing but nice to her and she just kept pushing him away, for literally no good reason at all! I generally don’t like books where the h pushes the H away for the majority of the book and then decides at the end, when something bad happens, that “oh no! I love him! What have I done?!” 🙄 🤦🏽‍♀️ This book definitely falls into that category.

the set up was quite unique and interesting as the “alphas” were feared, kept away from the omegas and were kept in isolation used solely for military affairs…
so the whole “forbidden” element of the story was pretty fun🤭🙌🏼✨

enemies to lovers🩶
forbidden love🫂
non-shifter omegaverse✨
obsessed ml🤌🏼
JP hero😌
calls her 🎀“good girl”🎀
mild BDSM🥵🥵
🦋dirty talking ml🦋
“You want me to take the gag off, baby?”
She nods, her eyes wide.
“Then make yourself come. Fuck yourself on the pillow.”

LOTS OF SPICEE🌶️🌶️🌶️
whipped ml🙌🏼🙌🏼
low angst📉
“i hate you, but i kinda feel for you and mayyybe want you” — from the h’s pov lol
WHIPPED ML🤭🛐🛐
and there’s this scene where the ml binds the fml’s hands and by the time he opens em there are marks on her wrists and this is his reaction🥹
He curses under his breath and kneels in front of the couch, much like he did that morning. His hands engulf hers and he gently rubs his thumbs along the red marks of her wrists, his face etched into a frown. “No more of these,” he promises her. “I didn’t intend to hurt you.”
AWWW MY HEART🤧🤍✨

one thing i love about liliana Carlisle’s books is that she never mentions anything about the hero’s “past”, all we know is that he knows how to fuck and thats it maybe he was a manhoe, maybe he barely screwed around we. don’t. know. and I LOVEEE IT!!!!!

safety
no manhoes/virgins
no cheating
H has been celibate for 10 years
no info about ml’s past
the fml has had lovers but they were all betas (obviously cause the alphas and omegas are kept apart)

my favourite quotes💌💌💌

“Turn onto your side for me, baby,” he says. “Just for a moment.” When did it become so easy to obey him? With the gag in her mouth and arousal in her veins, she has no urge to snap back at him.

“It’s so easy to forget,” he says quietly as she cranes her neck up to look at him, “how badly you crave a monster.”

She figures she’s already going to hell after all the damage she caused. And now, she has nothing left to lose. Lips trembling, she stands on tiptoe and kisses him.

DNF 2.5 ⭐️’s Had loads of potential and good story telling. But FMC ruined it.

I really wanted to love this story!
It’s well written besides a few small issues…

The plot is interesting with heaps of potential.
The MMC is very likeable and easy to care about.

Which is the problem.
The FMC is extremely unlikable and unsympathetic!

Her friend, who wasn’t questioning the system or what was happening, managed to see through things and care, with minimum interaction with Alphas.
While the FMC, who was supposedly questioning, and spent plenty of close and personal time with an Alpha…didn’t???

She failed to grow, failed to express empathy or decency, despite all the information she had. She made it all about herself.
She was so offensive!

I tried skimming to get through, but ended up having to just skip to the end.

The MMC suffered SO much, but all the care and consideration was for HER.

We spent so little time on the world building and the really interesting parts, and basically had to read the FMC’s constant back flipping, self pity, and self absorption. Repeatedly trying to blame the MMC, despite all logic and evidence denying her conclusions.
TSTL!

Plus, the constant victim shaming 😱
Blaming him, even her, for the situation they were stuck in.
Even when we got to the end, the narrative didn’t change.

That’s BS.
You don’t blame those trying to defend themselves and others.
You put the blame where it belongs, those committing the abuse!

That’s a totally messed up message to have here.

I do like this authors talent, so will try the next book, and see if it improves.
The synopsis suggest this FMC is much more intelligent and potentially likeable.

What a thrilling dystopian Omegaverse read!
The action in this book never stops. We follow Hazel who is an Omega teacher. A terrible encounter involving a student begins to have her questioning everything she's been told. Abel is an Alpha who is tired of being controlled and the conditions Alphas are subjected to.
The characters face their own challenges and have their own weakness. Thr author did a great job of creating a world where Alphas and omegas were at a disadvantage. They were both used in their own way and decided to try to change it.
Can't wait for more from this author!

An interesting take on the ABO world.

Alphas are locked away and trained to be super soldiers. Omegas are protected in the society but cannot leave the city. The H breaks out of the island prison and finds the h on the shore of the city.

I was just frustrated with the H and h because they fought almost the entire story. I would have liked to seen them grow towards each to work together to save Connor (young boy taken away in fear that he might be an alpha). It was a bit tough to read after a while that they were STILL fighting. But the end was sweet.

Wtf was this.

I HATED whatever this was. A few chapters in and nothing made sense. Finished the book and I am more confused than ever.
The characters are completely one dimensional, bland and cringey. It’s all ‘yes alpha please’ and I found it ridiculous.

I almost DNF’d this and I wish I had. There’s no amount of bleach that will allow me to forget this. There was no… Warning that prepared me for this. I did not know what I was getting into.

Jesus Christ, if you value your sanity, DON’T read this.

And I have never EVER discouraged someone from reading a book before. Ever.

This one was a mixed bag.. Story setup was intriguing, plot started off okay, and the hero was okay. However, the heroine was a brat, had no sense of self preservation, and threw tantrums at every turn. Ugh… she was beyond annoying. The hero deserved better. Knocking off 2 stars because of how awful she was. Giving this book 3 stars.

This one was a lot darker than some of the other books I’ve read by this author. I freaking loved it. In this Omegaverse, Alpha’s are kept away from Beta and Omegas as soon as they present. The B & Os are told that Alphas are evil and scary and will kill you so everyone fears them. In this story, our hero breaks free from the alpha prison and takes our heroine Omega as a captive. They are both drawn to each other and end up being mates. It’s a suuuuuper smutty fun time. If you’re into knotting, lots of bodily fluids, and rough play, then you’ll enjoy this book!!

Felt like a 5th grade who was 40 years old wrote this. The writing style was horrible and safe (meaning there was no real tension) and the characters were SO bland and had zero personality. There’s some smut, of course, but it was basic. And the whole “mating gland” thing and calling it a “knot” grossed me out I can’t even talk about it. The characters fell in love in legit 3 days, and I’m not really of fan of that. Wanted to DNF it at 70% but figured I’d skim the rest and I was right, the ending was predictable and boring. Still going to read the second part because maybe it gets better.

it was a good read

This was an easy read. It had nice steamy scenes. It lacked some depth and world building. I did not like the bratty/mean h behavior. The author could of instead done a better job of making the h working through not knowing how alphas behaved instead of being a jerk.

What a wonderful story of Alpha and Omega epiphanies.
An Alpha trained and honed to be a hard cold killing instrument of the government who discovers instincts and feelings he didn't realize he possessed.
An Omega who's essentially imprisoned in her city by the government and discovers her illegal yearning for an Alpha brings her face to face with someone she's been taught is a destructive monster of whom she should be terrified.
This story is wonderfully written, able to bring well fleshed out characters to life, to engender emotions from the reader, to express all the hopes, terrors and feelings of her characters so that the reader is swept away into her tale.
There's heartache, betrayal, danger, suspense but there's also loyalty, bravery, steam and heartwarming fidelity.
I deeply enjoyed this one and eagerly await the next one.
Again, a wonderful story.

The couple: Abel and Hazel

Romance trope: omegaverse
Series: Forbidden Alphas
Length: 243 pages

Plot: Hazel is one of the protected, yet oppressed, omegas of Lincoln City. She has just lost her job as a teacher and is at loose ends. She's feeling destructive and lost and so she goes to visit the edge of the territory where she can see the island that holds all of the alphas - dangerous soldiers kept in line by the promise of an omega's scent. She has no idea that Abel, one of those dangerous alpha soldiers, is about to lead a rebellion that has him escaping and kidnapping her to further his cause. But when he does that, he finds that maybe alphas and omegas were always supposed to be together - or at least he and Hazel were.

Commentary: Someimes in omegaverse stories it's difficult to tell if the characters really like each other, and I felt that about these two up until the end, especially on Hazel's end. Also I've noticed in this author's stories that the omegas are often called brats when their behavior isn't really that. Hazel's rebellious and contrary but to me, being a brat is a purposeful choice not born of oppression or confusion or mistreatment. So I think, had she been given an explanation and some choices, she wouldn't have been what Abel considered a brat (and I mention it because in the next book, Julian also refers to Hazel as a brat and I don't think they actual understand what that word means (beyond "didn't do what I told her to the first time." I'm not saying I won't read more, but that's an unfair characterization in my opinion. Freakin' alphas!

Next book in the series: Obsession

Hazel is an omega living in a society where omegas are honored and alphas are imprisoned. When a toddler is mysteriously taken away due to presenting as an alpha, Hazel’s worldview begins to change as she questions the world she lives in. She finds herself drifting towards the alpha’s jailhouse island more and more, until one day she’s at the wrong place at the wrong time; apparently there’s been an escapee, and the first person he comes across is Hazel. But far from being a monster, Abel is polite and disciplined for an alpha. She tells him she hates him out loud, but her heart has other ideas.

This was kind of hard to keep reading after the first few chapters because it just feels boring. Surprisingly. To be fair I’m not a huge fan of the push and pull romance. To me, it’s clear that Hazel and Abel like each other but Hazel keeps calling him a monster even though she admits to herself several times that he isn’t. So her ignorance, after a certain point, becomes annoying. Abel is fine, but too orderly for my tastes. He always makes sure to be polite and kind so that he doesn’t come off as the alpha stereotype, which is nice, but also a bit blah. He never loses control, even during a brief “rut slash heat” scene.

Overall I wouldn’t keep this on my shelf. Sorry. The world was interesting but the characters/writing weren’t.

4/5 ⭐️
Omegaverse is the superior palate cleanser.

•••

Possible Triggers - Class discrimination, D/s, breeding, violence, death

•••

Tl;Dr - Hazel gets fired from her teaching job because she is an omega and boy does she spiral. Odd her suppressants and gazing longingly at the island full of militarized alphas. That alphas are, apparently, not there by choice and would much rather be allowed into society instead of being kept as super soldiers at the beck and call of the government. Once such alpha, Abel, gets extra pissy and escapes- immediately encountering Hazel.

If you have read any omegaverse, you can imagine what happens next. Biting , boning, and toppling governments.

•••

The Characters -
Hazel: School teacher and inadvertent accessory to treason. Shes too curious for her own good.

Abel: A very well behaved alpha, all things considered.

•••

My Thoughts - I don’t really have many thoughts. I didn’t read this to think. I read this because I just finished Kingdom of Ash and I needed to read something that required no effort.

No effort. Just vibes. Rebellion. Fucking.

*** I received an ARC of this book***

Contains:

🖤 Enemies to lovers
🖤 Omegaverse
🖤 Alpha/Omega
🖤 Slow burn
🖤 Forbidden attraction
🖤 Kidnapping
🖤 Bratting
🖤 Primal
🖤 Knotting
🖤 Nesting
🖤 Dirty talk

What a fun read! Liliana always delivers! I love me a good Omegaverse and this one did not disappoint! I really enjoyed the unique story line - I love me a conspiracy theory so this was totally up my alley. Also, love how funny this book was, the clever dialogue between the two characters was so much fun to read. So, if you like slow burn but spicy, dark-ish Omegaverse full of conspiracies, kidnapping, injustice, primal, biting, knotting, and nesting don’t pass this book up, it’s also a perfect read if you are interested in dipping your toe into dark romance as it has a few elements with out plunging you into the deep end.

The whole premise behind this story is as fascinating as it is terrifying. It’s a dystopian setting where the only hope is the hope of each other and how can that possibly work considering they’re supposed to be enemies?

The suspense was intense, I honestly didn’t know which way the story would spin, but the characters? Phenomenal.

I loved Hazel and Abel. Their banter, their tension, their give and take was incredible. Hazel was the biggest brat and Abel’s innate understanding of her behavior, as well as his patience and devilry in responding to her was so sexy. Gotta love a man on a heartbreaking mission who’s as willing to go to war as he is caretake.

After reading Possession, I, myself, have been r.u.i.n.e.d. (IYKYK) and can’t wait to see how the next book, Obsession, leaves me.

I love Liliana’s omegaverse stories. Their easy to read with lots of 🌶️ and knots. Perfect for me to read in between long more complex series.

I rated 4⭐️
Spice 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I’ve never read a book before where Alphas were being treated less, that was definitely a pleasant suprise.

I didn’t give the book 5 stars because I didn’t really liked the female main character. It stared out good with her being curious and doing research, but when she had every chance to learn more later she was just being a brat. It all felt a bit to childish to me especially for a school teacher and her age.

Like I mentioned before it’s not really complex, but if you enjoy a fun original not to long Omega/Alpha read, this book is for you.

This wasn't bad, but it wasn't so amazingly great either.

Truth be told, I feel quite ambivalent about the whole story. I do think Hazel leaves a bit to be desired with how reckless and stupid she can be, but we wouldn't have a story if she wasn't stupid, so I guess it is what it is.

All in all, it's fine, although the world building leaves quite a bit to be desired. How did the world become what it is? How did Alphas, who are powerful and seem to hold heavy influence over omegas, get overpowered by a bunch of betas? How did any of this happen?

That's really all I can say about this.

Abel was the sweetest Alpha. He was kind, patient, possessive and a total simp for Hazel from the get go. He was sooo patient with Hazel's antics. I could never! Hazel was the only factor that brought down this book for me. I mean, I get it that it's hard for one to completely let go of the convictions taught from childhood. But still! Her constant tug-of-war annoyed me so much.

Anyway, other than that the smut was great and Abel was such a sweet Alpha to her that it made up for all of that.

Looking forward to reading Draven and Ava's book!

P.S:

Their first meeting would make for a great story for their grandchildren, I'm sure🤭🤭🤭

Possession: Forbidden Alphas by Liliana Carlisle is the first in a new series. We meet Hazel, Omega, who is just missing something from life and needs something. We meet Abel, an Alpha, who has been living and training to be a military fighting machine. Something terrible happens that makes both Omega and Alpha question what the world is doing to them. Great story. Lots of spicy moments. No bullying. No cheating. I loved watching Hazel come into her own and doing what she wants not what was expected of her. Looking forward to book two.

Intense and Intentional

Hazel and Ash… Whew! This story was sugar and spice, and everything nice! I loved the story line and how they got together. I loved that Connor was the straw that broke the camels back for everyone, and even in her confusion she never truly betrayed Ash. I can’t wait to happens next.

I gave this 4 stars because there were a lot of random typos that I believe could/ should have been corrected prior to publishing, and took away from the story just a pinch. Very enjoyable read though and would read again.

DNF.

WOW this has got to be the author's worse heroine yet. I agree with reviewers who have read the book and found the heroine to be unacceptable. The moment i met her, i just knew we wouldn't EVER be friends. No problem with the male lead or plot but Hazel was a ball of defense mechanism, bitchy and bad habits rolled up in the guise of a woman. Nobody likes an annoying character no matter how hot or beautiful.

Despite having enjoyed L.C's other omegaverse stories....this...i wouldn't recommend to dear friends who have never explored the genre before.

He’s going to ruin her....

They told us lies! Alphas aren’t what they say they are. My inner omega says let go but the rational me says don’t you dare! Hazel will be the death of him. He has a mission to keep but her scent is pulling him in. She will be his if it kills them both. To h#ll with the rest of the world! Her heat is upon them. This is a wonderful sweet omegaverse romance and I recommend it.

I thought the storyline was original and it captured my attention from the start.
The story follows Abel & Hazel. In a world, or in certain places in the world Alphas and Omegas are kept separate.
There was a little action and suspense and we got some delicious steam!! 🥵
Told in 3rd person, dual POV.
I like both characters, but Abel was my favorite. He proved to be the perfect alpha.
I loved the banter between and when they both officially gave into each...so good!

This is a very interesting start to a new series, Forbidden Alphas. It takes takes in a dystopian omegaverse. Abel and Hazel have some good heat between them. This first in the series book has made me intrigued for the other books in the series and how other's stories, like Ava will pan out. I can wait to see the continued development of this world.
