Sasha is with Eric. Callie is with Jacob. And Callie and Sasha are finally BFFs again. Life is as perfect as it's ever been at Canterwood.
So when Sasha learns of a secret that could destroy all of her relationships, she's willing to tell a few white lies to keep everything from falling apart. After all, white lies aren't supposed to hurt anyone....
Jessica Burkhart is the author of the best-selling Canterwood Crest series which has sold over 1.6 million copies in multiple languages. She has also written the Unicorn Magic series, the YA novel Wild Hearts, and edited a YA anthology--Life Inside My Mind.
"This book was very interesting. I've read all the books in this series so far. I am determined to read and finish book number seven, Rival Revenge. This book was mainly about horseback riding and drama. Eighth grade just started for Sasha Silver, and she has a lot on her mind. She just made the YENT riding team, which is a very big equestrian team. She has a lot on her mind, from riding to homework. She learns a secret that can ruin everything, and she tries to hold everything together just by telling a few lies."
This series was a childhood favorite of mine! Looking back, it's pretty terrible. But I loved it as a kid and it made me appreciate books more, so that's what matters!
Oh Sasha. She’s doing the wrong things for the right reasons. Keeping secrets and telling lies usually ends up hurting people instead of protecting them, and this is the case here.
I have read all the Canterwood books, but this one was by far the worst one in my opinion. The drama was so thick and heavy that you could cut it with a knife. I kept hoping that Sasha would just tell Callie the truth and not do something stupid, but of course she did. She could have avoided the whole mess by just telling Callie the truth, but of course, she didn't and tried to keep the secret to herself. I honestly felt like she deserved the entire mess that blew up in her face at the end. She had just gotten her best friend back, and her and Eric were happy, and she ruined it by harboring the secret and coming up with more and more lies. I really liked the rest of the books, but I very strongly disliked this one. I would not recommend this book to anyone, unless they really like reading drama disasters.
for me it's the casual disregard jacob shows for her feelings the ENTIRE book despite claiming her cares about her! like oh my god shut the FUCK up you can't say you like her and you care about her and then RUIN her relationship at her BIRTHDAY PARTY by KISSING HER WITHOUT HER CONSENT and be like lol you were over it anyway. yeah and i was over you six books ago! FUCK OFFFFFF anyway heather <3
I was a bit disappointed in this particular entry in the series. First, I had thought the author would do an edition on the YENT camp, which I was looking forward to; it was a little sad to meet the girls back at school with an entire summer at camp behind them already. Second, this story focused far more on girl drama than on riding. The drama over the two boys seemed a little over the top, but then middle schoolers are often at a point where everything seems like the end of the world. I didn't really care for all the lying and the frequently misplaced blame; again, possibly an attitude that many young people this age have ("Everything is MY fault") but woefully inaccurate in truth and left unresolved. The author may resolve this in the end, but like the penchant for materialism and ridiculous gluttony (which also appeared in this book... four trays of sweets for two girls on a non-special occasion? Why are these girls all not enormous by now? They don't seem to have any self control), the lies seem to be a go-to that's never addressed in a healthy way.
This book was amazing and I couldn't believe all the Drama that goes on. I have learnt from Sasha's mistakes at the end. I highly recommend this book! And if you have or do read this book please don't follow Sasha's way. Please tell you BFFs and BF(if you have one) what is going on. So overall this book was amazing and I really want to read the next one to find out what happens.
I think the author did a pretty good job with not loosing the audiences attention. I was a lot to take in. With every lie Sasha spoke, she just dug a deeper hole for herself to get out of. I like that Heather is becoming a nicer person to Sasha. It's almost like Heather wants to be friends with Sasha but if she does than she'll look weak. I also glad that Heather made the YENT team because this book needs Heather in it. I kind of wish Jasmine wouldn't have made the team. She's just so bossy. This book definitely opened my eyes to how a little white lie could become something dangerous. It's scary to think that my entire life could be switched upside down just because I didn't tell the truth.
“But before I’d fallen asleep, I’d managed to remind myself that every lie I told was in everyone’s best interest. And they weren’t lies, really . . . just little white lies. Harmless.”
The eeek I eeek’d with each little white lie, twist and turn… oh, Sasha, you know better.
This was the worst book in this series for now. By God, can we just drop all the horrendous bad drama for once?
I really had to push myself to read this book, I wanted to give up every time, but I kept pushing myself, hoping that Sasha wouldn't do the stupid things I was thinking she would do. Sadly, she does. And yes, this isn't only her fault, it is also Jacob's, but if she had just been honest, had talked to someone? Maybe even to her boyfriend, I am sure it wouldn't have gone all drama-hell as it went in this one.
Sasha kept lying in this book, and I just knew that this would blow in her face, and it did. On one hand I am satisfied that she got what she deserved, on the other hand, I felt sorry for her. If only she had talked. Not only did it mess up the book with the daily stuff, it also messed up her riding. I love those parts about riding, and then she can't even ride because she keeps thinking about all the drama-fest happening? URGHHHHHHH. And I hated how she acted around Eric, she has the most amazing, sweet, wonderful guy and she does all this? What is wrong with you girl?
Jacob, urgh, don't even get me started on this disgusting human being who should just have shut up. But noooo, he had to ruin it all. I hate Jacob, didn't like his attitude in the other books, but in this one? He was just 1000x times worse.
I felt sorry for Callie, for Eric, for Paige.
Even Heather was pretty decent in this book, she even offered to help Sasha, and I found that really sweet. Too bad Sasha never took Heather's offer.
The ending? What the hell was going on there? I just wanted to smack Sasha with something hard. She deserved that. I don't care that she is all confused and poop, this girl definitely got a huge problem.
Little White Lies by Jessica Burkhart told the story about three best friends (Callie, Paige, and Sasha) who have some dilemmas with their boyfriends (Eric, Ryan, and Jacob) that require some 'white lies'. Little by little these lies pile up on Sasha who eventually is hurt by these lies herself, costing her her friendships. I didn't find this story very interesting, I kept waiting for the story to 'start' but soon found myself on page 200 with the story yet to get interesting. One weakness of this book was definitely the lack of new information, the same problem reoccurred over and over again throughout the story, which made me lose interest. There are many books to this series, and you don't have to read them in order. I would read this again if I needed a 'go to' book, but I wouldn't go out of my way to read these books.
A really quick read- just 240 pages with wide margins. This type of book was never going to be appealing to me, not unless done really, really well like Pretty Little Liars. Nevertheless, I felt this was pushing it a bit in terms of lack of characterisation, exaggeration and REPETITION!!! The same phrases repeated over and over... Not even rephrased. Could deal with it in the previous books, but this takes it to a new extreme.
the same drama as ive seen it before. i got tired of the books and this is the last one i've read a year ago. i love the whole plot line but i dont get anything new out of the series.
Sasha is an idiot throughout this whole book. Jacob is an asshole throughout this whole book. Callie was my favorite character throughout this whole book.
I enjoyed this one, but seriously kids, please never lie to your best friend over a stupid guy. Please learn from books like this one to never, ever, lie to your friends over a stupid boy. Especially if you're gonna lose your best friend over a lie like the one Sasha was telling in the book. I hope she redeems herself at some point, but I think she was stupid here.
Despite Sasha being a dumb kid here and Jacob being annoying, I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series. I wish I knew a date for finishing the 20 books. I would have something to look forward to in the future. LOL
This is the best! She has so many problems and now Callie can't go to YENT! :O I would say stay with Eric and say no to Jacob but what will she do??? I can relate to this book because 3 boys like me and are fighting over me!!! It's so annoying. Also, I own two horses and ride them in shows. I'm on a team and win almost all my shows!!! This book has been Amazing!!! :D
This was one of the most interesting books of the series. It is full of drama, romance and riding of course. I have borrowed these books from the library and read through them at a really fast pace. These books make you feel part of the story and it really adds to how much detail is put into the story. I recommend for people who love horses and a hint of romance. :)
Sasha came back after a big long summer break at YENT camp, but drama never ends when it comes to Canterwood. With Sasha still feeling guilty about what she did to her best friend Callie. It is not always happy in with the Canterwood crest team.
This book was amazing. I recommend it for ages 9-13. Sasha is with Eric, Callie is with Jacob. But when Jacob tells Sasha something before summer break, Sasha tells a few white lies to protect her relationships. After all, white lies aren't supposed to hurt anyone... right?
I love how effortless it is to read these books. They all flow together and you don’t have to think while you read them, you just keep flipping pages until all of a sudden, you’re done with the book.
