Judgment, the most feared disciplinary establishment in the world--where women are taken and ruthlessly trained as slaves to those few men strong enough and wealthy enough to buy them. For years Mary Blackwell has watched from the shadows as her position was usurped by the product her husband bought from that fearsome mountain fortress. But when her husband unexpectedly died and the Mountain Lord returned to claim his property, for the first time Mary could see what she truly longs to be. She offers herself up willingly, becoming the only woman in history to ever to enter Judgment willingly. And through her submission, she discovers a new capacity for pain and sensuality that takes her far beyond anything she has ever dreamed!
Who would chose this life? A life where you answer to a master and not just one but as many as 20. Mary chose it, willingly. She was a true submissive that wanted to be taught what she needed to perfect her natural ability. In the midst of all her training she finds someone who needs her and not only that, he wants her.
This isn't your norm boy meets girl and they live HEA. He is her teacher but a part of him sees beyond the student. I loved the chemistry between Mercy and Shipe. Their time together didn't feel creepy like it did with Cobb It was natural and not forced. Shipe was what Mercy needed and they balanced each other out nicely.
My only gripe is the ending. I would have given 5+ stars had there been more on what happened to Mahogany and her crew. With all the shit that went down her punishment almost seemed like an afterthought.
Some of my comments are going to be related to the first book so if you haven't read that don't read this.
In the first book, it was pretty strongly implied that Judgement was in Italy. This one specifically states that it is. Just how this little criminal organization run by a bunch of over-egoed frat boys continues to exist, we still have no idea. It was interesting that the library was 20 years old. There was, of course, the reference to the LAPD, which kind of makes no sense if you think about it, but Callie and even Mischief never actually appear.
"So there is such a thing as a natural submissive. Fascinating."
I found that line so annoying and frankly more than a little troubling. It took this clown that long to figure it out? But it apparently didn't prevent him from beating innocent women for the last decade or so.
Personally, I would love a little quality time with Master Boyden myself but I'll get to that.
"If not for you, I would have been mistress and maybe now I would be free!"
Interesting that their vaunted brainwashing skill is not always 100 percent effective. And while she was a thoroughly unlikable character, you kinda got admit she did have a point.
Okay now... Mary... Mercy...whatever.
Things worked out in the end, I guess, but I kind of wish someone had pointed out there are easier ways to find the Dominant lover you are looking for: clubs, classified ads, even the Internet... I realize that would have hampered the story just a bit, but still.
As for Judgement, unlike Callie, I wasn't too bothered by anything that happened since she chose to be there. Except for...
The strapping scene. It really struck me that it is kind of cowardly for a writer to tell us that the protagonist is getting a 250-stroke strapping and we only see 20 percent of it. It isn't that I was disappointed, I am just not buying it. The reason she stopped at 50 is that it wasn't believable after that and so it wasn't writable. And it should have stopped at 50.
I was actually prepared to give this 4 stars since the story was mostly consensual but the part of the ending involving the murderer reminded of the fact that I want to see Tane and his merry band of sociopaths in prison at the very least.
This was an outstanding book. It is drastically different than the first in the series. To be honest there is no comparison -- the first, while certainly keeping me glued to the pages, was more cringing and wincing - I do not like severe objectification to the point that the person's own personality does not exist and that's what I found in Judgment.
Mercy is an entirely different story. Consensual and rich - it really speaks to the heart of submission and the feelings of the submissive. I don't mean it's a psychological exploration but that it lets you connect to Mercy and really start to understand how she thinks and why she wants what she wants. She does not give up who she is - she incorporates who she is into what she becomes - and the story is the richer for it. Loved it!
Poor Mary all she wanted was to be loved and needed by her husband Richard. Feeling totally neglected and lonesome she wants to feel what it's like to be a slave after her husband dies using a slave called Mahogany. So she goes to Judgment and begs them to take her in and her journey begins as a slave. Mary renamed Mercy is assigned to Master Shipe and her bottom gets well and truly whipped, spanked, caned and paddled. Loved the sparks and chemistry between theses two. An enjoyable read.
If you read the first book in this series, be aware that this one is totally different.
JUDGEMENT 2: MERCY tells the story of a woman who willingly injects herself into the life of a submissive captive on the mountain of Judgement. As a willing captive, her life is decidedly very different from that of the other 200-ish women who have been kidnapped, held against their will and in various stages of training on the mountain.
If you loved the first book, this 2nd book in the series may still be of interest to you as the punishments are harsh, the Masters are super dominant and the heroine's life as she once knew it was taken away the second she walked through the doors of the compound.
Another shout out to my gal pal, Tess, for the rec/loan of this one! Loved it!!
Judgment 2: Mercy is sooo different than Judgment...in this installment, Mary Blackwell faces the death of her husband and one time Master. She takes all of her husband's wealth left to her and buys her way into Judgment. No one has ever willingly entered into Judgment, let alone pay to be taught the art of true submission and punishment. This is Mercy's (Mary's) story, and how she only feels valued when she is someone's property...there is a kind of HEA in this one, and I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys their erotica a wee bit darker...
A quote for My Whycked One...
"I love my job." He gave his target a gentle pat. "There's no other profession in the world that can claim carpotunnel from spanking."
Judgment 2: Mercy revisits the Mountain Lord and the Masters of Judgment. In this installment, Mary chooses to enter service after the death of her husband in an attempt to rediscover her own value as a woman.
Judgment 2 couldn't be more different from the first book. Shorter, with a totally different premise, Mary's story is a journey from neglect to approbation and the satisfaction that comes from living the role you've always wanted to inhabit.
Not as intense as Judgment, this book is still a terrific read.
This was another one of those books that completely scrambled my brain and frankly put my emotions in a blender. AND I LOVED IT. Full disclosure....I've not read the first one but I'm hearing this one is completely different, starting with the fact that it is consensual. Harse, graphic punishments......with the exception of that first strapping scene where you THINK you're going to read about 250 lashes but only get 50......And ultimately, I couldn't put the book down, even when I was supposed to be working. That, to me, is the sign of a good book.
Wow.... Wow! I just finished this book and right now, I can't even find the right words to express how impressed I am with this book! What an unbelievably sick, twisted, fantastic series! After being frustrated regarding all of the mediocre books I have read lately, this series far exceeded any of my expectations. This author is unbelievably creative and talented, creating a dark world we can only hope will never exist in reality. I am eager to see if there are more books in the series and will definitely be reading more by this immensely talented author.
Well,if you're here with me,you have read the first book and know what you have gotten yourself into. Once again the over the top, corporal lifestyle is hard to swallow. Here something continues to pull you in and we do finally get to see a little bit into the psyke \emotion of a trainer/captor. ...and comprehend that they do actually care for the overall welfare\ survival of the victims. That is saying something I suppose.Everyone is definitely psychologically tilted. Including me,as I could not stop reading. The shocking scenario that forces Shipe to admit to some kind of connection with Mercy reveals a surprising source of evil. But does lead to a HEA of sorts that readers yearned for and that was not found in book one. This author absolutely prefers to wade in the darker waters and definitely has writing skill. I dare say I may continue to be drawn to that darkness!
I loved this book sm. Exactly what I was looking for. I wish the first book was also like this and that there were more books in this series with such consensual submission. It was simply beautiful. Also why did I imagine Tane as some really hot Master lol, he was almost unforgivable in the first book but I loved him in this one.

That was freakin' amazing, like, as soon as I finished I wanted to go back to the beginning and read it again amazing!!!
If you didn't read Judgment one, you can still read Judgment two, and if you did read one, you need to read two - why? It is a totally different story and set of circumstances, really, really different, but still just as powerful
Mary has been second best to her husband since he bought two slaves two years ago. She was happy in her submission to him, but once the slaves came, she has been wondering what she was lacking and why he choose them over her? What was better about them?
She figures out who to go to Judgment, and while they will accept her, they are not sure what to do with her either. She is too old at 32 to be trained and sold, and she came willingly, which no-one has ever done before. She is set up for training with some special rules. She is kept away from everyone else except the Masters, and she is assigned to one Master to keep.
Boydon handles all new intakes, she he has her for the first month, and when she passes that test, she handed over to Shipe. He is a hard task master and while he is gruff and hard, Mercy, as she is now named, finds something in him she needs and wants. He begrudgingly is the same, and they seem to moving towards things well together until he is pushed and hands her off
Given the circumstances with her husband, this cuts too close for Mercy, and she wallows until a frightening event gives us our climatic end. even them, with all the harshness and pain, the ending truly was an 'awe, so perfect" ending
An emotional roller coaster, and for some of the darker and deeper emotions you have, but played out so beautifully, all readers with a taste for darkness need to read these books - they are too perfect in their story and characters for anyone not to experience them fully!
Oh where to start? I'm giving this book a solid 3 stars. It was a fairly good book. Just a few things that kinda baffled me.
Here are my main complaints:
1. After the first initial beating Mercy got from Mahogany you would figure they would use extra precautions to keep her from being ganged up on again. I get that having a willing person coming to you for training is different but some common sense would do you some good to keep everyone safe.
2. I don't really get the relationship between Shipe and Mercy. Nothing is really detailed about their "relationship" building. I mean nothing. I guess Mercy is just that good of a lay.
3. There isn't much character development for Mercy. Actually, hardly any at all. She still cries and screams and snivels about a lot of things (things that "product" would get punished for that they kind of let her slide with).
4. The ending. Oh God the freaking ending. It's like Ms. Hall just got tired of the book and just finished it. Seriously. Mercy gets beaten by the girls to an inch of her life and then all of a sudden Shipe is back and everything is ok and they are leaving Judgment together. That's it. Done deal. Wtf? Where is tying up the story? This is a big pet peeve of mine when there isn't a sequel to the book about the characters.
On that note I would totally pick up another Judgment book if one was ever to come out because I love sleazy dark erotic books. I am a sucker.

This is definitely dark, but it’s not a romance, a love story or an erotica.
Not the intense like the first book in the series, but very different, Mercy tells the story of Mary Blackwell ( Mercy ), a widow who chooses to learn how to be the perfect slave/submissive. She is the only woman who came to Judgment. At 32 she is too old to be trained and sold, but she is willing to pay to become what she wants.
She is set up for training first with Master Boydon and after with Master Shipe. He is cruel sometimes, but he cares about her in some way. They form a bond, a connection and they find in each other what they need.
What I like:
* First I have to say I like the premise a lot…a women who’s not afraid to go after what she wants, who is willing to face humiliation and rejection to became a perfect slave. I like that a lot about Mary! * Mary’s determination and bravery – to accept what she is and what she wants;
What I didn’t like: * The story is written in third person POV. I think it would have been more interesting to read the this in first POV from Mary perspective or dual POV ( Mary and Shipe ) * The ending – For me was to curt and their HEA forced somehow
Overall this was an enough good read and was interesting to see The Judgment Masters again!
I enjoyed this book just as much as the first one. I didn't think it was as dark as the first book as Mary/Mercy wanted to be at Judgement, even paying them to take her. l liked Mercy a lot she was a very strong woman to go after what she knew she wanted and needed. My heart broke for her when Shipe left her at the table and was happy she stood up to him in the library. I'm glad they ended up together. Tane was a bit of a matchmaker between the two...who would have guessed that??... Delighted Mahogany got what she deserved at the end.....sounded like a life of misery and pain as she didn't learn her lesson very well. You would wonder how she thought she would get away with it. l like this series a lot.....can't wait for the next one.
harsh book with lots of punishment and objectification, but a happily ever after in the end (if a bit abruptly). I found it a satisfying read. It focused more on pain than humiliation (for essentially a slave story), which worked for me.
I enjoyed it. Not as much as the first one, but still liked it. Found myself hoping that there would be some crossover to the first book, and maybe just have a little mention of Mischief.
I loved the first book and thought I would enjoy this one too but I must have skipped most of it. I only read to find out if it would get any better. Real disappointment
