This book has collected and described in detail every single photograph of Abraham Lincoln known to exist, and many rare pictures of his family members. This is the third of three editions; each added newly discovered photographs and how they were located. For each picture there is a wealth of information on how it was taken and found, including in some cases Lincoln's own comment on seeing the photograph. The only known photograph of Lincoln's first child, Eddie, is here, along with a heartbreaking picture of his tombstone, which states he lived for three years, ten months and eighteen days. For many of Lincoln's photographs, many versions, including retouched examples and those taken with four-lens camera, are presented.
If you are a Lincoln devotee, or an interest in the history of photography, you will love this volume.
This is a very interesting book to read and to study each photograph taken of Lincoln. Since I bought my copy, one more photograph was discovered. I'll bet there are more to be found!
