When a neighbor hires Nancy, Bess, and George to take care of her eighteen-month-old identical twins, the girls are happy to help. After all, the Clue Crew has stopped would-be thieves, uncovered scams, and recovered stolen objects -- how hard can watching a couple of babies be?
But being a mother's helper is trickier than they thought, especially when the twins' toys start disappearing. Can the Clue Crew look after the babies and figure out who's taking the toys, or are they in too far over their heads this time?
Carolyn Keene is a writer pen name that was used by many different people- both men and women- over the years. The company that was the creator of the Nancy Drew series, the Stratemeyer Syndicate, hired a variety of writers. For Nancy Drew, the writers used the pseudonym Carolyn Keene to assure anonymity of the creator.
Edna and Harriet Stratemeyer inherited the company from their father Edward Stratemeyer. Edna contributed 10 plot outlines before passing the reins to her sister Harriet. It was Mildred Benson (aka: Mildred A. Wirt), who breathed such a feisty spirit into Nancy's character. Mildred wrote 23 of the original 30 Nancy Drew Mystery Stories®, including the first three. It was her characterization that helped make Nancy an instant hit. The Stratemeyer Syndicate's devotion to the series over the years under the reins of Harriet Stratemeyer Adams helped to keep the series alive and on store shelves for each succeeding generation of girls and boys. In 1959, Harriet, along with several writers, began a 25-year project to revise the earlier Carolyn Keene novels. The Nancy Drew books were condensed, racial stereotypes were removed, and the language was updated. In a few cases, outdated plots were completely rewritten.
Other writers of Nancy Drew volumes include Harriet herself, she wrote most of the series after Mildred quit writing for the Syndicate and in 1959 began a revision of the first 34 texts. The role of the writer of "Carolyn Keene" passed temporarily to Walter Karig who wrote three novels during the Great Depression. Also contributing to Nancy Drew's prolific existence were Leslie McFarlane, James Duncan Lawrence, Nancy Axelrod, Priscilla Doll, Charles Strong, Alma Sasse, Wilhelmina Rankin, George Waller Jr., and Margaret Scherf.
Another cute Clue Crew mystery! Nancy, Bess, & George have a job; they're mother's helpers to twin toddlers. While helping Mrs. Jacobs, a mystery unfolds when several of the twins' favorite toys disappear. With the Clue Crew on the job, they work diligently to determine what happened to the twins' toys by following the clues. Overall, a cute story; I appreciated the How to Guide to Becoming a mother's helper, which is appealing for adolescent children. I recommend Babysitting Bandit to fans of Nancy Drew and young readers.
I think that even though Margaret didn't like that she had new baby sisters, she wasn't getting as much attention, and her baby sisters got to play with her special rattle, she shouldn't have stolen some of the babies' toys even if she didn't like her sisters. Nancy & the clue crew babysit the twins and when the toys go missing, they have to figure out where they went. Nancy found yellow and green fingerprints where the toys were missing. Margaret's friend said their science project colors are yellow and green. My brain lit up and I knew that it was Margaret who had stolen the toys!
3.5 stars. I don't know why these books seem to be going downhill for me. Maybe its just the fact that we've read 23 in a row. Anywho, This is about a family that the girls babysit for. They have adopted twins and their toys start to go missing. We have the older siblings, their friends, the pets, the kids themselves, etc. as suspects. I liked the books better when there was more of a funny coincidence/misunderstanding than an actual thief but they're still entertaining.

When a mother hires Nancy, Bess, and George to take care of her 18-month-old twins, the Clue Crew is happy to help. But the babies' favorite toys start disappearing! Will the Clue Crew be too over their heads this time?
This is another fun mystery in the Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew series. We've been slowly working our way through the series and we like the characters.
The mysteries are not scary and they aren't too difficult to solve; they often have a twist or two in the plot to keep us guessing, so I am actually somewhat impressed with the writing (especially for a short chapter book for young readers.) The illustrations are entertaining and help depict the action of the story.
This story features a babysitting job and a missing rattle. The story is a bit silly, but entertaining nonetheless. We enjoyed reading this story together.
